I've walked by this restaurant many times, but this was my first time dining here. Very cute outdoor area, bar area and indoor dining space. Our waitress and all the wait staff were very friendly cordial and helpful. I ordered the Churraco steak, and it was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the different flavors. My husband ordered the salmon and also enjoyed it thoroughly. Friends of ours that were with us have been here many times and ordered a specialty chicken dish they have seen on the specials but that is not on the menu. The chef and owner Hector was nice enough to make it for them, along with stopping by our table to see how everything was. We ended our meal with a delicious chocolate mousse which is made right next door where they have a wonderful dessert shop. Overall, everything was great, from the ambiance to the staff to the food. The only downside was that service was very slow. We were not in a hurry, so it did not cause a problem, but we did have issues getting drinks delivered in a timely manner. read more

Finally here! I've heard so much. My first impression was 'it looks bright and clean, not necessarily cozy.' We were seated ( upon request ) in a plush corner booth in the back of the dining room. Our service, Kristine was friendly and helpful. She/they were very accommodating with our parties dietary restrictions. I ordered an encrusted Cod dish over rice. My friend had the butternut squash risotto and additionally there was grilled salmon and brussel sprouts ordered. We were all very happy with our meals. Delicious! No complaints here! The bathrooms were big and clean. My only small criticism would be that I felt that the atmosphere is not intimate or romantic. I am glad we could get tucked away in the back. We ordered take out and when we went to pick up our order, wished we would have been able to dine in. Why? Well, because the restaurant is quite beautiful and inviting. Initially, we wanted to order the filet mignon; it was not available and they offered us a substitute, which was about double the price. We decided to order churrasco steak instead. It wasn't at all what we were expecting (we've had churrasco with chimichurri sauce many times and in various restaurants) but it was tasty. One of us had the cream of cauliflower and the other had the soup of the day, which was Rhode Island clam chowder. Both soups were delicious. For dessert we ordered one cheesecake. My best friend and I met here for happy hour and I was very pleased with my visit. The happy hour menu is filled with a variety of very inexpensive choices (each item is $5.75). My friend who is a vegetarian was happy because there are a lot of different meatless options. We ended up getting the mussels without chorizo, plaintain chips and guacamole, and fried yucca bites with chimichurra sauce. For dessert we shared the ricotta bites with ice cream. Everything was delicious!! And the ricotta balls are absolutely amazing. I heard the chefs specialty was as a bakery chef so I'm not surprised. Located in downtown Southington the restaurant had plenty of parking in the back. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and recommended choices and explained all the items to us. Flair has some flair! Chef Hector serves great dishes but also comes out and greats his patrons! This was our first time at flair and it was a great experience. We love our Spanish food, let's be honest we just love food, and the food was all very good! The chef serves up some Colombian dishes but also some Italian and American dishes. We went on a Friday night at 7pm. Sat at the bar instead of waiting for the next table. We started off with yucca fries with chimichurri. These were different than expected. Usually get just fried yucca but this was almost like a yucca mash that was fried. Overall very good. I'm a sucker for chimichurri Then we both got cesaer salads which again were fabulous. Dressing delicious!! Entrees- I got the churrasco (again sucker for that chimichurri) and the meat was cooked perfectly and what a great portion! I took half home for lunch the next day. My fiancé got the Bandeja paisa special (typical Colombian dish) and loved it. The beans (I usually do not like Colombian beans) were fantastic! I even helped eat them. Plate was filling (he brought some home). Our bartenders- cannot forget the great service we got from Alex and his partner (honestly I can't spell his name and not going to try and I waited to long to finish this review to take a stab at it). I had a great espresso martini and some strong vodka drinks. The wine is on the expensive side and usually would be what I would get but considering price I went for the same priced cocktails. This was my first time here at Flair. Our server was Sarah L. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable right from the get go. We sat on the patio. On her recommendation, we had the strawberry mojitos. They were awesome. The only downfall, at no fault of the establishment itself was the exterior noise from the traffic. This is a relatively new restaurant on Main St in Southington. It's inside a municipal type stone building. We decided to go after recommendation from friends. As soon as we entered we were greeted by one of the owners. She had a full out conversation with our 6 year old while we waited to get seated. She was very sweet. The decor inside is very elegant with soft light and their is no dress code either. The food is in the $-$$ range. Very goodOur waiter was very helpful and helped us breakdown the highlights of the menu. Most of my table got the special which were Filet Mignon Beef Tips that night. My daughter got a Grilled Cheese (which looked like a gourmet grill cheese...its not just two pieces of white bread with a slice of cheese). I decided to try their 10 oz Churrasco Steak. It was very tender, had a excellent taste and it was sided with roasted golden potatoes and asparagus topped with chimichurri sauce. The servings are very good and I was able to bring home for left overs. My wife got a slice of Flourless cake for her birthday and it looked absolutely delicious. Along with our server, the owners came to check on us and chat with us. One of them being the Chef. The chef was very nice and said that he would make other none vegan dishes for someone in our party if they called the day before to request something different. We went tonight. Daughter and I had salmon which was small but OK...veggies were zucchini with shaved carrots. We thought it was a salad as they weren't really cooked nor were they seasoned. My husband had the prime rib on Ciabatta. He stated the meat was tender but it was on a hamburger roll not ciabatta so it lacked the texture that was expected. I stopped at Flair yesterday during the Apple Harvest Festival. We were seated outside by the brick wall. I can't really comment on the interior of this establishment, since I sat outside. I got the plantain chips with guacamole. My friend got the calamari. The calamari were undercooked, not very crispy, not good. I really enjoyed my plantain chips, they were warm and fresh, and great combo with the freshly made guacamole. This is also something I've never seen at any restaurant. Our return visit for happy hour proved to be a disappointing experience on a couple of levels. We started off with adult beverages, tranquila (red sangria) for me and merlot for my wife. Our bartender, a male, did not include fresh fruit in the sangria as is pretty much standard for sangria. An order of happy hour mussels (chorizo, garlic, banana peppers in a white wine sauce) just did not taste as good this time with several mussels under cooked. For entrees, we both ordered the Flair salad (grilled chicken, sliced apples, candied pecans, blue crumble crumbles and mixed greens). Let me start by saying I'd give 5000 stars for the yucca fries. oMG so good !! But for the prices paid I was very disappointed in the service. Our server was cute but it wore off quickly when he couldn't explain basic things about the menu and handle some of the basics. We ordered a bottle of wine and he just put it on the table without pouring it into our glasses The kitchen was backed up which is absolutely fine because it was a lovely evening to sit outside. But come tell us. Refill our water glasses, etc. When the food comes make sure we have silverware, napkins, side plates, etc. if we ask for ketchup, takeaway containers, etc. bring them, don't make us chase you down. If you are trying to be fancy, train your staff on how to be servers so the prices match the service. It's extremely rare that I leave less than 20% tip but it truly felt like our server wasn't even trying to look after us. read more

Overall, we had a very good meal. The steak and prime rib were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes were yummy and the house salad with balsamic dressing was tasty. Our server was attentive and very friendly. The manager and the chef both came to our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal. There are a few things to improve on, however. There was no ice in the water, which was tepid not cold. I like my ice water to have lots of ice. The white wine also was not cold. I think white wine should be very cold. The green beans were raw and very crunchy. I like them to have a bite to them, but not to the extent of being raw. Also, the dinner rolls were dry and tasteless. I've been to Flair several times now and have had great food and service every single time. I called ahead of time to make a reservation for 9 people and it was definitely the way to go on a busy Sunday morning. I went for the brunch this time and excited to see that there was a brunch buffet in addition to the breakfast staples of waffles/omelets/pancakes, etc. and all for a flat fee of $10/child and $20/adult. The buffet consisted of leg of lamb, paella, mussels, pasta, veggies and other freshly cooked foods. Drinks (bloody mary or mimosa) were $6.00 then $.50 refills. I love a good bloody mary, I wouldn't have minded just a little more vodka though in what I had ordered. Kids and adults all loved the food, the options, and the ambience is great in that you could go for a nice adult night out but it's actually also kid friendly as well! read more

Both of our dishes came with soup or salad, the sweet potato soup was great and even the salad was delicious. Hectors mac n cheese was out of this world and so was the lobster ravioli. I believe the prices were fair, you can tell everything is house made. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate my birthday and I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. "It's a Family Affair at Flair" From the moment we walked in the front door, the love the family has for one another is so apparent. We were greeted by one of the owners daughters and she said, "My brother will seat you now." I thought it was cool that they let you know that it's a family owned restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is comfortable and inviting. It turned out, the daughter that greeted us was also our waitress. She started us off with delicious fresh bread and garlic infused olive oil. I haven't had a Caipirinha in a long time so I ordered one from the cocktail menu. I later had a glass of cabernet with dinner. My wife and our friend split a bottle of pinot noir. We also started with the fresh and tasty plaintain chips with guacamole. Before dinner we all had a cup of the cream of cauliflower soup with smoked gouda and a drizzle of browned butter. Smooth, creamy, and slightly smoky from the gouda. Very tasty. My wife had the Filet Mignon Tips for dinner with a port demi glace, red peppers, spinach, cremini mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. It was so good, my wife didn't leave anything on her plate. I mean nothing ! My friend and I had the Churrasco Steak topped with caramelized onions, yukon gold roasted potatoes, chimichurri sauce, and string beans and carrots. I was amazed by the large portion and the taste was incredible. Very, very tender steak grilled to a perfect medium rare. Chef Hector's daughter bragged about how long her dad marinates the steaks and how much she loves the dish herself. Why would I try anything else? Great suggestion. We were just about finished with dinner and Hector's wife stopped by our table to see if we enjoyed everything. She also gave us an interesting history of where their family is from and future plans for the restaurant. Chef Hector also stopped by our table after dinner and let us know that he began his culinary career as a pastry chef. He thinks of all his desserts as his babies. He shows great passion in the creation and plating of his delicious desserts. My wife had a unique and delectable dessert. The Ricotta Fritters with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I've never had anything like them. Nice fried coating on the outside and creamy delicious ricotta inside. Our friend and I had the Champagne Chiffon Cake with lemon mousse. It was my night to choose where we were eating for girls night out and I chose well! This is a beautiful spot and the food is on point! This place has a gluten free menu which was glorious !! Pro tip-order the cauliflower soup! You will thank me! It is savory, creamy and delicious. My friends even took cups to go home with! I had the bbq chicken wings, yuca bits and paella. The yuca bites are something I could just eat and eat especially with the tart of the pickled onions and beautiful chimichurri sauce. The executive chef was great and came up to our table and thanked us for coming out!
