**Good, authentic Trini food!** My whole family and I were craving Trinidadian food. Since my husband's birthday and his mother is from Trinidad, we decided to surprise him by taking him to this restaurant. I found Flambo on Google while searching for authentic Trini food, and after reading the reviews, we decided to drive for more than an hour to try it. The drive was definitely worth it! We loved the atmosphere, and the food tasted authentic--just like my in-laws' home cooking. The portions were just right--not overwhelming, but still filling. Since we all eat relatively small portions, we appreciated that there wasn't much food wasted. We tried the soup and curry, and although they had unfortunately run out of beef and only had shrimp and chicken available, everything was still delicious and flavorful. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and cook, who was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our whole family had a wonderful time. If you're craving authentic Trinidadian food, I highly recommend checking out **Flambo**. It's definitely worth the trip!

Came here for a work dinner, and I am so glad the company was paying because I wanted to try all their food! I started with their Lemongrass Shrimp Soup. It did not look like I expected, but it tasted really good. I didn't realize it had mushrooms in it, but they definitely added to the flavor and ended up being a happy surprise. I also got to try some of their appetizers. The Curry Mussels were TO DIE FOR. I could have eaten a whole bucket of that curry sauce. We also ordered the pita bread with avocado sauce. The pita was so soft and delicious that we had to order a second helping. Finally, for my main dish, I had the Spicy Seafood Paella. I could not make up my mind because that curry sauce was amazing, but I wanted to try something I hadn't had yet on this trip. I'm so glad I did! The paella was so well seasoned and packed with flavor. I do wish it had come with a little more shrimp, but everything was absolutely delicious. We were a large group, and the service was still 10/10. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

Fantastic and authentic Trinidadian cuisine. Everything was top notch. We chose to eat outside because it had just rained and it cooled off early on a Friday night. It's really nice inside, too! Servers and owner were helpful at selecting our dishes and serving us fresh food. I highly recommend the curry chicken, drunken noodle, chick peas, plantains, and the wings! Quality, and authentic Caribbean food here for sure! Ask for some hot pepper sauce if you like spice. First time here with family. Will be back every time we're in the area!

Easily the best restaurant in St Armands Circle. Absolutely loved the corn soup, pholouri (which are little fritters), lemongrass mussels (get it with the roti), samosas, beef stew and whole snapper. The mango dessert was perfection. Cocktails were excellent: clarified pina colada, passion and guava martinis. Service was amazing. Highly recommend and look forward to returning!

Stopped in during art fair on May 23. It was hot. We had a taste for butter Chicken. This restaurant did not disappoint! (Chat gpt did not know to recommend it for butter chicken in Sarasota, btw.) It is off on the end of one of the side spurs off the circle. I ordered mango salad and husband ordered butter chicken. We shared. Salad was very fresh, cucumbers and tomatoes were carefully seeded, lettuce cut in bite sized pieces and tamarind dressing was light and delicious. The butter chicken was sweet and unctuous, served as large chunks of mostly dark meat chicken that you cut up. It was fan-freaking-tastic. Waiter was so very friendly. He and his dad opened in November. Tan tan martini (vodka and guava) was made spirit forward per request and balanced out the mildly spiced, rich butter chicken. Dad is the chef. Dining room has big windows that look out on the street. White tablecloths are so welcome. It's cool and soothing inside. Much better than the loud places on the circle. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner!

Have eaten here several times since their soft opening Oct '25 because it is easily my favorite restaurant on St Armand. The food is outstanding, the service is superb and the drinks are excellent. The menu is different from the usual offerings at most Sarasota restaurants - one of the reasons I'm delighted they're here. I've now tried almost all the entrees, and thoroughly enjoyed every one. Our last visit was a special wine pairing meal for 9 of us, orchestrated by Kevin and Chris, and was a very special meal indeed! If you haven't been yet, go! You will love the food and the experience.

Nice corner of the block space with indoor and outdoor dining, good for people watching. Good food, with good drink, in a good atmosphere, with good service. And I was there with good company. What could be better?

This was a fantastic experience from start to finish! We had appetizers of crispy pork belly and samosas. The pork belly was absolutely amazing! Crispy on the outside and then melt in your mouth in the middle. The samosas were amazing! They give you 2, but they are quite big and easy to share. These have a bit of a spice kick, but unlike other spicy foods, it hits and goes away quickly. My mouth was not ever left hot feeling. I had the spicy red snapper, not at all spicy, but completely delicious. We also have 2 dairy allergies in our family. This place has lots of options for that. I would absolutely recommend and we plan to return another time while visiting!

A truly unique project that the local scene had been missing for years--especially this spot, which offers high-quality food, excellent prices, and direct, personalized service from the owners. Highly recommended.

Seafood Paella (no chicken stock, happy pescatarian here!)

I only write reviews when an experience absolutely compels me to, and my dinner at Flambo did just that. Flambo is remarkable, and not just St. Armand's remarkable, but remarkable compared to all the food I've eaten across the world. I've never tasted anything like the Curry Mussels before and I will be dreaming about them for a long time. I wish I lived here so I could come back once a week, but I'll be dreaming about the next time I'm back and am already planning my order. If you're so lucky to have the north Indian guy as your waiter (I'm so sorry that I didn't catch his name), listen to every single thing he tells you about the food and what he recommends, because he will guide you to an extraordinary meal. And, not only is the food above and beyond, but so is the service and the atmosphere. The staff is attentive and lovely. The owner comes out and chats with you, and is a passionate and genuine guy. Truly an extraordinary experience. (And please let me know when you're ready to ship the curry mussel sauce across the country so I can bathe in it. Or okay, just a cookbook would be great!)

The chicken and rice - absolutely delicious

This is truly a gem of St. Armands/sarasota! The food, location and decor are clearly a work of art, and it is clear the owner has poured his heart and soul into all three. The drinks are some of the best we have ever had! Tensen was our server - he catered to not only us but our little chihuahua came first! Extremely pet friendly as the owner served her her grilled chicken and welcomed her w open arms. Food so fresh, Cleanest environment and the pork was the best weve ever had! The vibes and love poured into the place truly shined on us!!!

I hate I don't have better things to say about this spot that we were really excited to try. I will…read moresay that upon arrival, everything seemed to be going fine. The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

I tried the yuca logs, the island wrap, and the shrimp wontons and every single item was a win. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and packed with that signature Trinidadian intensity that makes every bite feel intentional (not just "seasoned," but seasoned with purpose). What really stood out to me is that nothing felt like a filler item. Each dish had its own personality, and I'd gladly order all three again without hesitation. Beyond the food, the experience itself was just as solid. The service was quick, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. The owners are incredibly kind and easy to talk to, which made the wait feel more like a conversation than a transaction. They also offer catering, which I'm already mentally bookmarking.
