Ordered online for pickup, and service was super quick. This location is a small stand with nearby outdoor seating. I love Flame Broiler for a good, nutritious, and filling meal! I always get the plate for 7oz of chicken, rice, salad, veggies, and fruit. All for under $13, very worth the price.

Flame Broiler used to be a go-to spot for a quick, healthy fill of carbs and protein when there was a location closer to my house. Several years later, I walk past this store in The Shops at La Jolla Village every week when I am redeeming a free ice cream serving from a nearby business. The marquee was updated to look more modern and prominent than the previous signage. Several tables were set up outside of the suite if you wanted to dine on-site. The menu offerings have remained the same with mini-bowls, regular bowls, or plates as the serving vessels; chicken, angus beef, half & half, or organic tofu as the proteins; and white rice, brown rice, veggies, or rice & veggies as the base. One area that has changed was the prices which have dramatically increased. For example, a regular bowl used to cost well under $10. The chicken bowl is now the only variety that was less than that mark. The business also used to frequently advertise with coupons in the monthly mailers, but those have long disappeared. A regular bowl with angus beef and white rice was my selection. Dispensers of magic sauce and hot sauce were at the service counter in which you could help yourself to portions in little plastic cups. The magic sauce was basically teriyaki while the hot sauce was similar to tabasco. The bowl was topped with green onions only per my request. The beef and rice were cooked just fine. I do have to say the service was still very efficient. I don't believe I have ever waited longer than a few minutes for my order to be prepared and ready.

I was looking for a quick healthy lunch yesterday during my workday and this was perfect! The tofu was prepared well and the chicken was very flavorful. The value is on point if you're looking for an inexpensive option that will fill you up. Serve your self sauces were a delicious bonus.

This is a tiny place. You order inside but eat at one of the tables outside. Server was nice. Ordered the small tofu bowl and the chicken bowl. Price was affordable. But the taste matches the price. It wasnt something to write home about. It wasnt bad. It just didnt give me the wow factor.

My autistic daughter loves this place. Today, we bypassed several restaurants because she wanted to eat here again, the second night in a row on our vacation. She says the tofu pieces here are bigger and a bit more delicious than other flame broilers. I like that she's getting protein and some reasonably healthy food in her besides the three other food options she chooses regularly. I tried their tofu myself, it is pretty good!

dawg ngl i wasn't rly fw this at all bruh. i got some chicken bowl thing with white rice and man. im disappointed. like ik that shi is flame broiled or whatever but the chicken deadass just tasted like charcoal and smoke bruh. like no other flavor whatsoever to that shi i think they cooked the chicken on bare coals or sum fam. like nah. and also the proportions of chicken to rice was like 1:20 bruh. very lil bits of chicken to like hella rice. omg and don't lemme get started on that rice tho bruh. that shi tasted like bare ahh charcoal :sob: lmao. i deadahh think they be smoking all their food or sum bruh. like there's no other flavor besides smokiness. and it ain't even a good smoky flavor either tbh. man and i gotta say the sauces weren't rly it either bruh. the magic sauce is wayyyyy too sweet bro. like it's just overly sugary and unpalatable. wasn't fw it all. the lil jalapeño sauce wasn't bad. had a decent kick to it too. overall this place a nay man. nah and for $14 for a lil ahh bowl w barely any chicken? do better man. do better.

A decent spot to grab a quick lunch in the UTC area. My chicken was a little over cooked and the veggies were a little undercooked. The sauce had good flavor and brought everything together.

Haven't had flame broiler in over 5 years and today reminded me why. I ordered the regular chicken bowl and the rice was lukewarm, the chicken pieces were small and dry and the veggies were bland and scarce. But it begrudgingly filled my tummy. Maybe this time around I will double up and wait 10 years before I go back to give it another try.

The food came out surprisingly quickly, which I genuinely appreciated -- there's nothing worse than waiting forever when you're hungry. I've recently become obsessed with CAVA, easily the most popular Mediterranean healthy fast-casual…read morespot in San Diego. It's famous for build-your-own bowls and wraps--everything is fresh, light, low in fat, perfect for fat loss, light meals or a quick bite. I'm usually pretty lazy, so sometimes I just go with their pre-set combinations, mostly salmon or beef options. Their house pairings are already incredibly flavorful. If you want to customize your own order: start with a base (rice / quinoa / salad), add your protein (salmon / beef / lamb / chicken), then pick dips, toppings and dressings. Over 30 ingredients for you to mix and match freely! It's a must-go if you're watching your figure--low fat, low sugar, barely any deep-fried food. All sauces are homemade too. Highly recommend hummus, tzatziki and harissa. Prices are very reasonable: $15-$22, cheaper than salad spots of the same quality, and with bigger portions. Here are some of their most popular combinations: * Harissa Avocado Bowl (Most Popular) Honey harissa spicy chicken + avocado + feta cheese + roasted corn + saffron rice + spicy vinaigrette. Savory, spicy and creamy with amazing layers of flavor. * Chicken + Rice Bowl (Classic Go-To) Grilled chicken + brown rice + hummus + tzatziki + pickled onions + Greek vinaigrette. Light, filling and never boring. * Spicy Greens Bowl (Top Vegetarian Pick) Falafel + spicy broccoli + roasted red pepper hummus + feta cheese. Full of flavor even for plant-based eaters. * Pita Wrap Pick meat or vegetarian filling, plus sauces and veggies. The pita is soft and chewy with generous fillings -- portable and absolutely delicious .

Horrible service , horrible wait time . had to personally step in and speak up about how terrible my experience was. The manager, Maria, spoke with me, and after our conversation I honestly felt a little bad because she's clearly doing what she can while being understaffed. But this is not her responsibility. The responsibility falls entirely on the general manager of this location. That person is supposed to oversee the entire operation, ensure proper staffing, and make sure the service runs the way it should. What's happening here is a direct result of poor management.
