A tried a true for me! My go to is the regular chicken bowl. I've been ordering 3-4 bowls online for the week and picking up. My food has always been ready when I arrive. You can get 3 sauces per bowl. Chicken is juicy and well flavored. Almost 50 grams of calories for just 500 calories is a win in my book. Honestly better than I expected for a quick dinner! Something that I really appreciate is how upfront they are about how much meat you can get with each size - Mini Bowl - 3oz, Regular Bowl - 5oz, Plate - 7oz. On my last visit I got a Chicken Plate with white rice, but I see they also have beef and tofu for the proteins, and white/brown rice and veggies for the base. My Chicken Plate was around $13 and I was stuffed after eating it, so they really don't skimp on portions. I saw the chicken being grilled and it tasted fresh and not like a typical fast food place. I also got the magic sauce and double hot sauce. I really enjoyed the magic sauce, it was sweet and savory. The double hot sauce had a good amount of heat but didn't have that much of a flavor. Met a friend here for an impromptu dinner. Some positives: it was a clean restaurant and there was ample seating for disabled persons, the flavor itself was tasty for the food and their kimchi was yummy. Now to my disappointments: the portions were very small, not I realized that this was likely due to the server we received, I say that because I ordered a bowl to go and had a different server who was significantly more generous in their helping of meat than the girl I had for my dine-in order... That's frustrating and made me disappointed. I was disappointed in the size of the kimchi and the single-serve plastic that they come in, though I do think that it's clever for to-go orders it simply is wasteful and it was not enough kimchi to last my meal. I was at another business in the shopping center so it was a short drive. I went in early and was asked how can we help you. I said I was picking up an order for Luana. My friend and I both ordered the chicken breast bowls. Apparently, the chicken breast is cooked to order unlike the thigh meat which is sitting in the warmer. This should be a good thing. After a long wait, our order was ready. We both agreed that the chicken was over cooked and had no seasoning at all. The breast pieces were chunks that were tough. Next time I'll try to ask for medium to medium rare and see if they provide that option. I have been coming here since college. It is nothing fancy but it does the job. I do like the fact that there is not a lot of oil and a decent amount of chicken and veggies. I do find a little bit strange that they always weigh the amount of chicken. why not just give a full scoop instead of making sure that its exact they just launched their new Korean spicy chicken bowl. Tender grilled chicken tossed in a spicy, sweet sauce that definitely packs a punch. I give it a 3/5 spice level but I'm also used to eating spicy food. Recently I went to this Mira Mesa location and got a steak bowl to go, went home and ate half of it before realizing there was a dead bug in my food. Looks like some kind of maggot or caterpillar larvae. Absolutely disgusting! I tried contacting them through their website and their "contact us" just to get my money back and heard nothing back. I even went to Twitter to try and get ahold of someone there and was told a "team member" would be reaching out to me shortly but I've heard NOTHING back from anyone. All I wanted was my money back and they can't even bother to get back to me. Do yourself a favor and do NOT eat here. Their food-keeping practices are clearly not up to what they should be. Food was absolutely dry. Magic sauce is just a watered down teriyaki sauce and more importantly the angus beef was extremely bland. Dried Beef Jerky and rice and uncooked vegetables for $12 but the service was fine just average and the restaurant had an average hygienic environment. Wow some reviews are brutal. I came in during normal hours. The employees are consistent with expectations in this area. The food options are great, even if you are on a keto or atkins type diet like me. I get the angus beef bowl on veggies, no rice. My kids get a mini chicken bowl with brown rice and veggies. Food plus 2 juice boxes (they have the honest ones, healthier) comes to $17. They have several help-yourself sauces from house sauce to triple-spicy. The place is super clean and super organized. Sadly, I didn't even get to try this place out. It would have been my first time doing so, and I live in the community. I arrived at 8:03pm. The sign on the front door said they closed at 9:00pm on Sunday's. When I entered, one girl was near the soda machine, obviously cleaning it out and had a large bucket of steaming water in her hands. Another girl behind the counter was cleaning/clearing things as well. The one behind the counter said, "were closed." I said, "well it says you close at 9:00pm." She replied, "That starts next week." I'm not sure if this is true or not? I mean, I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt, but something tells me they may have just been closing shop early. I could be wrong. It actually says on yelp they close at 8pm. So maybe it does start next week? I'm not sure, but it's kinda sad they put up a sign (and had the door UNlocked so people could walk in) if they were suppose to be closed. read more

Awful experience and horrible follow up from the ownership of the Mira Mesa location. As a retail manager up and down San Diego for 20+ years, I've seen more than my share of poor customer interactions from both sides of the counter. The incident was absolutely unprovoked or warranted! The employee was hostile, angry, and agitated; Clearly unfit to be dealing with the public. Upon my girlfriend trying to order, he began to get overly frustrated and slamming things about. He started to mutter and curse under his breath. His body language and actions were unsettling and aggressive in nature. Mind you, all she did was try to order food...as we turned to leave he continued to speak nonsense mixed with obscenities. The other employee just stood there and said nothing. After submitting a comment on Yelp, Google, and through the company website, the owner, Lamia Jemili, responded apologizing for the poor customer service and that he was in training and has been warned? This is far beyond a customer service issue and the fact he's new has no bearing on his volatile actions. She then has the nerve to offer 2 free bowls to come back?? No thank you. Not ever. You obviously condone this behavior from your staff and have no concept on what it takes to be successful in the service industry. As a local Store Manager and someone who lives within the community, I will passing on this experience to as many of my friends, customers, and social media sites as possible. read more

The food itself isn't bad. The fact that they seem to be so focused on the bottom line so much as to weigh your food as they put it in the bowl. They don't reset the scale after rice and veggies, so you end up getting just a little bit of protein and the bowl still isn't even full. I've heard this isn't the case at the other flame broiler locations, just this one. Also, they cook the tofu after you order it, it isn't readily available like the other protein. That would be a good thing except for the fact that they get annoyed when you order it cause they have to do additional work. read more

Decided to check this place put. Honestly was not too thrilled. Went with the angus platter with brown rice. Also included was a salad and an orange. The most flavorful component was the angus beef and even that coulf have been better. The "salad" was basically a dry coleslaw minus the mayo. I did have the option of adding a sesame oil vinaigrette, which I kindly obliged. I did however enjoyed their sauces. I tried every single sauce- hot, double hot, triple hot and the magic sauce. The hot sauce tasted like an over salted buffalo sauce. The double hot had a nice spicy and gritty flavor. The triple hot was litterally the hottest sauce they had that gave the burning sensation for my tongue.
