Even if you don't want a burger there's a couple of options, the BLT is a bacon lovers fav and the salads are huge. It wasn't my first visit to Flaming Burger. I came in shortly after they first opened years ago. I recall that the burger and fries combo I ordered was more food than I could eat. I decided it was time to stop in again. It looked exactly the same as before - sort of a large open, largely unfinished space. Bare concrete floors and exposed ductwork. This time I decided to get the chicken fried steak sandwich and skip the sides. It's a simple sandwich - just lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The poppy seed bun was soft and fresh. I wished that they had more in the way of condiments. Each table had salt, pepper, ketchup, and hot sauce. There was no relish, BBQ sauce, onions, or anything else available to dress things up a bit. Anyway, the sandwich was fine, tasty, and filling in its simplicity. Maybe that's the way things should be. These guys make great food, cooked to order, and they seem to like what they're doing. If you're near by you'd be hard-pressed to find a better burger place. read more

Lots of burger joints along this stretch of Garland Road, and this one doesn't particularly stand out. Admittedly, the food came out quick and hot, but the cheese tator tots were just covered in a single slice of American cheese, the added bottle cap fried jalapeño slices on my burger lacked flavor and were a bit soggy, and the meat in the burger itself did nothing for me. Wasn't terrible, wasn't really good. I'm thinking this joint will work for you if you're usually content with a drive through burger, but after eating Maple & Motor, Offsite kitchen and Goodfriend burgers, this just doesn't hold up. read more

Decent burger for a pretty decent price, but nothing special. Better than a fast food chain. If you like Keller's, this is pretty similar but without a drive-thru. Disappointed in the cheese fries. Small portion of "meh" fries covered in about half a slice of American cheese food. It never occurred to me that the cheese would be American or I would not have ordered. IMHO, if you have to call it cheese food, it is neither. Close to trendy Lakewood and the now super trendy corner of Peavy and Garland Rd., but without the hype, high prices and pretentiousness. Best of all, you can always find a parking space! Probably the best reason to go is to support a local business instead of a chain. read more

My favorite burger place in my neighborhood. I personally love the No 5. and for 1 dollar more than the Whataburger, you get fresh crispy fries and better beef patties. Seasoning was, as always, impeccable and the poppy seed bun was perfectly toasted holding up to the thousand island sauce. My secret is smoky chipotle tabasco and ketchup as the dipping sauce on your fries. read more

I came to this place when it first opened about a year ago. Every burger combo was $1.99 and then they had a speacial going on every burger combo on the menu was 3.99. I havent been there in a long time because I switched jobs and that was my fav place to lunch at. The owner is real friendly. I love this place burgers are amazing!!! Ok, I can't say enough about this place. From the street it looks like nothing special and in fact, is a little scary looking BUT don't let that fool you. Inside the restaurant it's really very nice and spacious. I promise. The food is excellent and cooked to order so it arrives hot and fresh. I've ordered the Texas Special burger which is huge and really delicious. It comes on a poppy seed, buttered & grilled bun which is a real plus. I can also recommend the Chicken Club and would suggest that you order it with avocado. Lastly, I highly recommend the BLT. The very best BLT I've had at a restaurant... ever. I ordered a small side of mayo because I tend to like a lot but didn't end up adding much at all. The bread is delicious and they do not skimp on the bacon. The fries are pretty standard but very good and the onion rings were amazing. I liked them so much that I didn't even feel the need to dip them in ketchup. Overall, I have to say that this is one of my favorite E. Dallas finds and is now a regular lunch spot for me. Also... great service! read more

I was in Dallas visiting family and wanted a place to take everyone for a casual dinner. It was a little hard to find, not being familiar with the area. They are on the west side of the lot in front of Home Depot, just behind Comerica Bank. No signage on Garland Rd to draw attention. So, problem #1 solved - in the doors. Very Spartan interior, reminiscent of an old diner but this place lacking about 90% of that charm. One wall has a Mavericks logo painted by someone who saw it, once, through a murky glass of water. I shouldn't be so critical but, here I am. Wandered up to the counter and checked out the options. Several burgers - standard issue, double meat of same, mushroom burger, jalapeño option and a handful of others. Couple of hot dog options. Fries, spicy fries, tater tots, onion rings. Then some other menu options I mostly ignored - I was there for a burger. There were four of us and $27 took care of burgers, drinks and fries (or tots) for all. Food came out quickly - maybe 5 - 7 minutes. They were awesome! Large bun, large patty (maybe 1/4 pound) all the lettuce, 'mater, etc...neatly arranged inside. Not tossed in like it was an afterthought as someone ran out of the kitchen. A good size meal for the price. I did find on a return trip to the counter the patties are frozen - but very tasty nonetheless. I'd go back if down that way again. Bathroom was clean but apparently designed and maintained by the same company performing those service for every privately owned gas station bathroom across the country. Just get past the aesthetics and you'll enjoy the food. read more

Some friends told me about this place, so I wanted to give it a try. I arrived shortly after opening so there was only one couple in there . The staff was really friendly and helpful. I ordered the monster which is a double meat, double cheese burger with bacon. It was a decent size burger that was well seasoned. Basically the burger itself was a good old fashioned hamburger but that bun definitely takes to the next level. The fries were well seasoned but slightly overcooked. I was starving and it's so convenient to Home Depot. I couldn't believe they'd already been there 5 years (I think)? I told them they need to get a bigger sign! I have always been particular about my burgers and have only found a few places that really do it for me. This- is one of them. Tucked into a shopping center near the arboretum, simple table and chairs set up, relaxed atmosphere, the *best* cheeseburger for MILES, golden, long, crispy fries, AMAZING wings too! I think this is a family business- I often see the same few guys there who recognize me *shame* and are totally friendly and super kind. Wait time is minimal, price is fantastic, and really- I don't know what more to say about their burgers other than reminding you that they really are on the top of the list. They've got the poppy seed buns, but you can get plain if you'd like. Fresh made on site french fries and the shakes aren't out of a machine, they mix 'em right there. Now, if you're looking for a thick patty, get a double meat as their patties are similar to Whataburger in size but taste 100 times better. Located in a little strip in front of the Home Depot at Garland Rd & Jupiter. Just turn in like you're going to McDonald's, but go straight, past the stop sign, on the left. This place is something of a hidden gem. The quality of the ingredients is good, the staff are friendly, the execution is careful, the prices are fair, plus they honor the 2011 Mavs championship with a home made mural. What's not to like? They even have sweet tater fries. If you go at night, you may have to search a bit to find parking that is immediately proximate given that sometimes the salon de fiesta next door tends to overflow into the restaurant-reserved spaces, but that's not all that common or such a big deal. The parking lot is as big as Houston and you can use the walk, in any case, to burn off some calories in anticipation of that satisfying burger. If asked, they will gladly cut your burger in twain and wrap up the second half in parchment paper for you to take home. The space is cavernous but cheerful. read more

The jalapeno mushroom double meat burger was awesome. Juicy with the perfect mix of flavors. The chili cheese fries are good. Now the stuffed jalapenos were not good. I have had better ones. The price was reasonable for such a good burger. They could invest in better tables, even after they wipe them down the paint had a sticky feel. The atmosphere matches the neighborhood.
