Apparently this place is no secret to buffet lovers and I absolutely see why. I never realized Flaming Grill was a chain that existed in America and I never realized how popular it was among many families and people in general until I came here on an early Saturday evening with my family. We arrived at around 5:30pm and the restaurant was already crowded, but that was nothing compared to the crowd at 7:30pm when we left! So, this is a warning, get here early on a weekend!!! The buffet price here was ridiculously inexpensive compared to other buffets in New York. It's only $8.29 for lunch and $11.99 for dinner, with the prices being only $1 more on weekends. What was even more surprising was that the quality of the food was decent and the variety of the food was expansive. Now "decent" is relative to people's experiences, but I've been to terrible local buffets and I've been to excellent buffets all the way in Las Vegas and this buffet fell somewhere in the middle. In terms of quality and variety, it was pretty good. It was definitely not the best, but very far from the worst. It was really a hodgepodge of every food people could think of. There was the odd in pizza, fried chicken, and mac and cheese. Then there was the typical in sushi, sushi rolls, seafood (mussels, raw clams, crawfish, cooked fish, crabs, fried shrimp, cold shrimp, coconut shrimp, Chinese-style clams, etc), meats (beef, variety of chicken), cold foods, soups, desserts, and fruit. And then there was the atypical in a chocolate fondue fountain, hibachi station where chefs cook your food in front of you, and variety of ice creams in packages. Since I'm the type to try everything at a buffet, here are a few things that stood out to me: 1. There was a good selection of sushi and sushi rolls to choose from (and I survived eating them which was a good sign.) 2. The hibachi station was a huge hit with customers and there was A LOT of food to choose from there. 3. Just the large variety of hot, cold, and dessert foods offered was quite surprising. 4. The crabs, coconut shrimp, and Chinese-style clams were the best of everything in not only my opinion, but also a few of my family members. 5. Even though I listed the items in #4, there were quite a lot of hot foods that were pretty good for what they were. 6. The desserts definitely left me wanting more. The cakes weren't that good and even though the ice creams were supplied by Hershey, they were not great. I would have preferred a soft serve machine. 7. We didn't wait long when we arrived at 5:30, but there were a ton of people waiting at 7:30. The wait probably was at or over an hour. You really can't beat the price and variety offered here. A buffet with these rates, decent quality of food, and variety just don't exist in anymore. Like I stated at the start, I can see why Flaming Grill is so popular and, as long as they keep their prices on the ground floor, they're going to continue to see families bombard their restaurant every single day! read more

On Thanksgiving, my family and I had dinner here (yes, we really had Chinese food on Turkey Day). I was mesmerized by all of the food that was in front of me. Given the fact that you can eat until you go into cardiac arrest, the price was reasonable. There are staff members all over the place. They keep the restaurant tidy and make sure that no one does something disgusting like touching the food with their bare hands. The food is roughly the same quality as that of an average Chinese takeout. I have a few complaints, neither of which will deter me from coming back here. One, the plates are smaller than standard size plates used at other restaurants. I'm pretty sure that this is done intentionally so people will eat less- they won't want to keep getting up to get more food. Two, there are all of these anal rules and hidden surcharges. Three, the people who work here seemed stiff. They weren't hostile towards customers, but I got this vibe that they hated interacting with people. Went here Sunday evening about 6:30 for dinner. It was PACKED!!! Wow! Seriously like an obstacle course of people. At least 10 people bumped into me while at the buffet tables. It made the experience pretty stressful, especially with children yelling and running everywhere! Wow I've never had an experience like that before. That being said, everything I ate tasted really good, except the mozzarella stick (lol). I had lots of seafood and veggies. The food had a really high turnover and was fresh and hot. Hoots mon, this place was the bomb dot com. Amazing selection of foods of all ethnicities. Something for everyone and the price can't be beat. My brother is always singing the praises of this eatery, so we had a chance to go together and I must concur. Now, not every single offering was five-star quality in my book, but a lot of them were. Standouts were coconut shrimp, hibachi chicken, peanut chicken, crab rangoon, dumplings, fried banana, steamed clams, calamari rings. I'm not a sushi fan but if you are, you'll be amazed and what they offer in that department. I did grab some kimchee and cold grilled octopus Also there's a raw bar featuring oysters. Fresh, tasty and extensive salad selection. There was Polish kielbasi, Italian meatballs (these were not seasoned enough), pizza, some gorgeous looking rice and noodle offerings but I followed the pro tip and skipped the noodles at the buffet to avoid filling up too fast. And the desserts, my oh my, petit four cookies, chocolate cake, flan, lemon meringue pie, giant Belgian cream puffs. Whoa! I never made it to the chocolate fountain. Three adults, all you can eat, plus sodas with tax, $33 and change. It's neat and clean, well organized. Servers were constantly replenishing the foods without disruption. My pro tip is to walk around and see all your options, then take a tiny little bit of everything that looks good, for your first round, to plan your strategy for the big chow down. The dinnertime prices are a buck higher than lunch time. This place is very popular so it will sometimes have a long line waiting to check in, but the staff appears to do a fine job in keeping it moving along and rapidly turning tables. This is the best Chinese buffet that I have ever been to. I love the fact that they have a hibachi section inside that you can plate yourself then hand over to the chef to grill your items. Thus, even though I don't look for a buffet all the time, I will always love to go from time to time. The lines are quite long and the tables are always full (at least when I visited), so I think reservations are highly recommended for big groups. Let's talk food! The selections are... acceptable. I mean you do have quite a range of selection and some of the food they serve do look quite interesting, but if you're searching for good selections of sushi or authentic Chinese/Asian food, you might end up disappointed. Then again, if you compare it to the price, it's sort of reasonable. They have A LOT of fried food and some saucy stuff. I think the dessert menu is so-so and to be honest, I don't find them too appealing. Food taste, in general, is not bad, but it's really just standard. Some of the foods were bland and quite a few were too full with... artificial taste. I mean I know when we go to cheap buffets we can't expect much. Meals are priced reasonably. You get your money's worth. The best attribute of this Asian buffet is the wide variety of food, including a hibachi station and sushi. I can't believe I never wrote a review of one of our favorites. I skimmed some of the reviews, so will try to pick on things I didn't see covered. We have been regulars since 2017, about 3 years. The food across that time has been very consistent. They serve what might be 100's of dishes, so obviously their team does some better than others. If I were to break it down, I would say 80% of their food is good. And 15-20% of it excellent. In all this time, I can only think of one dish that was not good, and I had to push away (some overdone beef-something). But that is all. There may be some I didn't like or preferred done differently. But that is preference. And the bottom line: It's an all-you-can-eat, with endless options. You don't like one thing, go get another. OUR FAVES: The sushi and hand rolls are consistently impressive. Never a bad piece. Most of the time the quality is every bit as good as any sushi-only restaurant you would walk into. And such places would both charge you more, and limit how much you ate. Now that is MOST of the time. But I have to tell you that there have been quite a few times that I have had sushi here that was as good as upper-end places in Manhattan. Seriously, that good. And they replenish everything rather quickly, both the such and all other food. At times you may wait 10 minutes, so move on and cycle back. Their other crowning jewel is the Hibachi Bar in the back. A selection of fresh veggies to start, then a choice of thin slabs of steak, shrimp, chicken in a hot sauce, and steak in stir-fry chunks. Choose what you want, top with hot sauce or garlic, and let the chefs do their thing. (You can also add in anything from the rest of the restaurant as well.) My father, and some reviews complained the steaks were too thin. OMG, what spoiled humans! If you go to a stead house and they charge you $50, feel free to complain. But these steaks are quite nice for what their intended use is. And at times I have come and only had a classic steak and potatoes style dinner, and it was fine. Other favorites are some of the veggie dishes. Their collard greens dish and their French string beans with garlic are amazing! In a light olive oil and oyster like sauce. Delish! And I love their popcorn shrimp. There are at least 2-3 different shrimp dishes available, including fairly large prawns. And they have clams, and real crabs!!!! The two extremes are well covered. We adults start off each visit with a big mixed greens salad to make sure we don't over-eat. The salad bar is not epic, but very good. While the non-adults have lots of the things they like, like pizza (even though that items never seems the best, whatever), some mac/cheese like things, French fries, etc. But really, you won't fine all that much of carb-heavy filler dishes here. Even though that would save them money. DESSERTS: I think they hit a good balance here, others may not. First, they have plenty of melons, pineapple and other fruits to choose a healthy dessert. Bravo! Next they have a big selection of jellos and other reasonably healthy desserts. They even have a selection of "sugar-free" cookies, as I used to see in pricey bakeries. Most of their cakes, cheese-like, tiramisu-like and others are far more mild and less sweet than a lot of people might like. But I find then a blessing. There are chocolate and vanilla puddings, a flowing chocolate fountain, and two freezers with a nice range of ice creams to choose from. I have not covered even 15% of the food they have there. It is overwhelming, and reminiscent of going on a cruise ship, or staying at a hotel in the old Borscht Belt, upstate. Everything is fresh (we have never had issue with this, ever). The place is large and even during the busiest hours, we have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. The wait-staff, while only bringing drinks and clearing tables, are all quite sweet and friendly. COVID DAYS: They were closed for months and we worried closed forever. But they reopened and put in a slew of precautions. Patronage is down, and we only go during off hours now. So there is no issue of having to sit close to anyone. They provide hand sanitizer, gloves and are very responsive to make sure people wear masks when away from their seating. Not perfect, but they are doing all that they can. Alas, no outdoor seating available. Literally, if their prices were double, and the quality of the food was a third lower, it still be a decent offering. But the way it is, I don't know any place to beat it. It's like a playground for your mouth. And the whole family has a great time every time we are there. read more

This place is located in a small local shopping center that has plenty of parking spots, near Southern State Parkway. We came here on Saturday at around 6:15 pm, it was very crowded already. They offered a great variety of food options, which includes sushi bar, salad bar, traditional Chinese dishes, American food, hibachi and dessert bar. Soda is an additional $1.69 with unlimited refilled. The food quality was fair and the food was refilled very promptly. They did not really label the food properly, so I actually picked up some spicy food without even noticing they were spicy until I tasted them. Also notice a few dirty spots on a few plates and utensils. The services wasn't good as the waitress only came by to pick up used dishes twice throughout our 1.5 hrs meal. I always look for three things for a good buffet. Quality of food, prices and variety. Flaming Grill meets all three. The food is good, you really can't beat the prices and they have all different types of food options. There's a sushi bar as soon as you walk in. Along with some cold Asian option like Kim Chi and tofu. Then there's Chinese and American stuff AND you can get hibachi. This place is literally a buffet on steroids! I've never seen anything like it. They have everything from crabs, to sushi, hibatchi, salad, american food, shrimp, fish, chicken, kimchi, desserts and sooo much more. It's honestly a sensory overload. And sadly I'm one of those people, who when presented with too many options, finds it difficult to choose what to eat. The food, while plentisome, was average buffet food. I was a little disappointed in the taste of some of the items. A lot of the offerings were greasy and only mildly tasty. Had a crazy craving for an Asian buffet and found Flaming Grill, so my husband & I decided to stop in and check it out. First impression: a crowd is always a good sign. You come in, pay immediately, then you're given a number to be seated and wait until it's called. We probably waited about 5 minutes for our number but we didn't mind at all. I had no clue where to start when it came to the food -- there was honestly so much variety! Everything I had was great! They also have a hibachi grill which is included in the buffet price, and that was my favorite part. I had steak and noodles, along with several different types of chicken, potatoes, and garlic bread (random I know). The sushi was also better than expected for a buffet! My only real complaint is the crowd, which while I know can't be helped too much, but there were so many young children running around... not to mention adults who didn't care to run you over or push you out of the way! For this review, the price of the buffet was a huge factor when it came down to either 3 or 4 stars. The price is simply unbeatable; I have never been to such an inexpensive buffet with such a wide selection of food. The place is pretty spacious and there are at least 10 buffet stations including a made to order hibachi grill, sushi station, ice cream chest, raw seafood, and a dessert station with a great selection (my favorite being the rainbow cookies). The service is pretty good. We've been there three times and they take your dirty plates and refill your drinks promptly. I didn't feel too rushed, but once they see you start taking fruits/dessert, they quietly bring you the tip plate with fortune cookies indicating the end of your meal is near. But we usually still stayed for several more minutes to finish our dessert and it was fine. The food...well, that's where the review gets difficult. If I had to pay even $20 for this buffet, the rating would rapidly go down to 3 stars. The food is basically serviceable, run of the mill take-out level chinese food. We go for quantity, and definitely not quality. The food is either too oily, too salty, or too starchy. I always leave thirsty, which is suggestive of high MSG levels. We decided to give this place another try because my dad likes it so much. It almost seems as if once a place gets a regular customer base, the quality starts slacking off. I found out from the very pleasant and helpful manager Xin that they actually have been there for four years and that information on the advertisement had been incorrect. The coupon was for $2.00 off. There were two of us, so we saved $4.00. For those of you who can read the tiny fine print, the stipulation is that you buy a drink per person with each coupon discount. For most that is fine as they drink some form of soda. I had been happy with a cup of water. Upon checking the receipt, the three dollars and change for our drinks, had me question if I was buying the use of the cup. The manager came over and explained that if I chose, I could buy the bottle of water. So, I did, and the very kind friendly waiter got me a bottle. I even got a bit of coin change back to boot. I had noted a reference to Military & Seniors 10% discount and found out that it was understandably one or the other. Seems if you do not wish a drink that the senior discount might be more cost efficient. But as I said 99% of the people would and should have some form of drink to wash all that lovely food down at meal time. Ah, there was a nice variety. My comparison to the Global Buffet in Levittown was simple. The selections were similar. Each place has a slightly different menu with a variety of selections of foods and desserts. They both have a Hibachi station, a variety of soups of which I had a tasty miso bowl. They did have roast beef but not turkey that I saw. Oh yes, and the dessert- they had a chocolate dipping station with fresh marshmallows, and the creative person could use pineapple or some other fruit from the adjacent section. One of my favorite buffets! It's located in a shopping plaza in Baldwin. The parking lot is big and very accessible. The buffet itself is a seafood lovers dream. They have a wide range of seafood along with other cuisine favorites. Their coconut shrimp is my favorite. They also have a large selection of desserts, a chocolate fountain and a whole freezer full of ice cream which the kids crowd around! Definitely reasonable and worth every penny. We came on 6/21/19 for my sons 16th birthday. Im sorry to say this time the service and experience wasn't as great as the prior visits. We did come around 9:15pm and they closed at 10:30. I was joking with one of the female cashiers.....I asked if they were going to throw everyone out at 10:30, to my surprise she was said Yes, everyone has to leave promptly at 10:30. She also stated they stop refilling the food stations at 10:00pm. Okay so we pay and the hostess seated us, waiting for the waitress to take our drink order. Ten minutes later....No waitress, so we left the table and started filling plates. Since it was so late, I decided to get all of my plates right away. I get a plate full of sushi, a salad plate, a plate with coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, chicken stir fry, sauteed bok choy, garlic bread, a fruit and desser plate with banana pudding, pineapple and watermelon. We get back to the table and still No waitress. I polished off the sushi plate before Shirley (slow, rude with an attitude waitress) decides to grace us with her presence. She takes our drink orders and another 10 minutes before we get the drinks. I polished off the salad plate and half of main entree before we asked for refills and it literally took her another 12 minutes to return with the drinks. Needless to say she didnt receive a tip. I wasnt sure what there policy was for taking the rest of the food home that was on your plate (nothing from the buffet).....so I asked the guy at the register. I also him about how slow Shirley was and he said to put the food in a styrofoam plate and bring it to the register, he will discount the price for me. We took the food to the register on our way out and the female cashier weighed it and said it was 8.47. Jeez.....it was literally 4 fried shrimp, 4 small coconut shrimps, 3 chicken wings, 2 pieces of bok choy, 3 pieces of pineapple and 4 cubes of jello. I told the lady the guy was going to discount it but she rudely said "you get no discount". I almost told them to keep it but paid and left. Decent Chinese-American buffet in Baldwin. There is more variety here and the food here is average to good. The staff here are very good, but after the time limit, they tend to kick you out. I recommend going here during lunch hours because on weekday nights, all of the rowdy, immature high school kids come in and disrupts the experience. For groups, paying the bill can be complicated, as you have to pay before you enter the buffet, as a mistake can cost you. Would come here again if we have some special occasion and do it the week before or after to avoid the crowds. read more
