I ordered from them last night at around 6pm through GrubHub, since I found my favorite place closed on Tuesdays. The prices were on par with other sushi restaurants in the area. The reviews led me to believe their food was good. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and another special roll as well as the crystal shrimp dumplings and beef nagamaki. My order was supposed to be delivered around 6:45-6:55pm. GrubHub does not deliver for them, they self deliver- Around 7pm, no food- I called and the girl was quite short with me telling me they are really busy and the driver has been out for awhile doing deliveries and it will be there soon. About 7:20 my food shows up. The dumplings and the nagamaki are still warm, which is good. The sushi isn't super cold but it's not crazy warm either. The driver did apologize for being so late- The food was decent, the rolls were rolled tight and tasty , the dumplings and the nagamaki were good. My major complaint is for the super late delivery and utter lack of caring on the phone- It was obvious that my food most likely didn't go out until later since it was still warm- I understand places get busy - and things happen- at least the driver was kind, and apolgetic- which can't be said about the woman who answered the phone. read more

I do forget it's there. I have had very good food from here. Bento box, fried rice, sushi. Lunch menu and dinner menu. All food has been delicious. No complaints. Staff help you if you need assistance understanding some things. No language issues. I have not dined in, only take out. And I've picked up order. read more

Toyo was the first place I had sushi as a teenager. 20 years later, I have to say that this restaurant is still my go-to. Their bento box is solid, delicious every time, my favorite is the chicken katsu and my favorite roll here is the spider roll! Toyo Japanese Restaurant is so so good. Just ordered a chicken Katsu lunch box today for lunch and it was superb. The lunch box is a great value, consisting of a large portion of chicken katsu, a heaping serving of rice, three pieces of shumai, three pieces of California rolls, miso soup and a ginger side salad. I went to Toyo with a friend. I had the Age Dashi and we shared the Good Time Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Vegetable Roll and the Spicy crunchy salmon. It was fresh and very good. The restaurant is small and quaint. Feels very traditional Japanese. The staff were quiet and polite. The prices are great. It wasn't busy. My friend eats here often and loves it. I enjoyed the sushi very much. I gave it a 4 because the service was not exceptional. No one checked on us, and we had to ask for water. read more

Horrible customer service. I ordered delivery through GrubHub at 5pm. When I called at 6:15pm to check on my order, I was first placed on hold and then told my order was out for delivery. Fine. 20 minutes later my order is still not here and at this point it's 6:45pm , almost two hours after placing my order and I'm starving. I call GrubHub and they refund my order and are super apologetic. I then run out to grab something else quick only to have my order get delivered while I'm out. And get this, the delivery person tried to demand that someone paid for the order I cancelled. No apologies at any point. Absolutely horrendous and will never order from here again. Ordered via GrubHub at like 8:30 pm. Got takoyaki, the sashimi platter, and chicken yaki udon. We also got crunchy tuna rolls. It was 75$ including tax and delivery fees. The takoyaki and the yaki udon were fine, no complaints. The sashimi tasted bad. 3 people tasted it (me and 2 friends) and we each didn't like it. I describe the taste as dirty sink water in Flint Michigan. The crunchy tuna is a mix of spicy tuna and some other stuff on a literal Pringle potato chip. Maybe it was because I ordered late but this wasn't a good experience personally. read more

The restaurant is not that big but it's a small sushi bar in the front where you can sit and eat your fresh sushi . They have a nice menu with lots to choose from , plenty specialty rolls if your like me and you like a good double spicy roll or tiger roll you will absolutely love this place ! Toyo is right around the corner from my office. We kind of have a tradition of "Sushi Fridays" and we either pick up from Toyo or order from nearby Masago. Toyo does have decent sushi. I normally get a 3 roll lunch special -- spicy tuna, spicy salmon and salmon & avocado rolls. The sushi has ALWAYS been fresh and flavorful. They do not charge for a side of spicy mayo which is a plus, however overall there isn't really any real "value" deals that Toyo offers, and I'm pretty sure once more people catch on that Masago will slaughter them in this respect. When a competitor has the same quality sushi and 1/2 the price...well you can figure it out. read more

Everything I ordered was fresh and delicious. It almost felt as if we were actually sitting at the restaurant. I always get their kani salad and choose random items to see what I like best and so far, I want to try everything I've tried, again. They're garlic shrimp appetizer was very tasty. I will definitely be getting that again. This time around I went with the Toyo Special Roll and the Red Tiger roll and I can't choose a winner. They both were so delicious. HORRIBLE! We asked them for a cucumber, asparagus and avocado roll. They gave us the order completely incorrect. They gave us one roll with just cucumber, one roll with just avocado and one roll with just asparagus. When I called and asked to get order changed they were extremely rude. They blamed on us for the mistake and said they would not fix the rolls for us. When I asked to speak with the manager they said there were no manager or owner and if I wanted the rolls to be fixed I would have to pay again. AVOID this place at all cost. They barely understand you and are not willing to fix their mistake. After being on hold for a long time and no one coming back to speak I tried to call again and they would not pick up the phone.
