We didn't even make it to the point of eating. We called ahead for reservations as it was an anniversary dinner and were told only call ahead. We said ok and picked 6:30. We arrived and parking was impossible and the restaurant was hot. We had asked for a table and first they tried to seat us in the bar and then they tried a booth. Very cool eclectic decor (neon lights, brightly colored fish, and old movie star photos). Fun casual atmosphere. Good food, though the amount of tarragon in the bearnaise sauce was too much for me. Lobster bites were great without the sauce. Grouper with hollandaise sauce was excellent. Peanut butter chocolate pie was disappointing (not chocolate enough, peanut butter flavoring tasted overpoweringly rich), but salted caramel cheesecake was excellent. read more

$4 martinis during happy hour! My dinner was fantastic and the service was was wonderful. Highly recommend the shrimp cocktail (perfect tenderness) and the pan-seared tuna steak. When I go back I may order the soy and wasabi sauces on the side so I can fully enjoy the tuna. read more

The food was good and I'd give the food alone four stars but we were treated so poorly by our server that I don't believe we'll ever go back. She took our order and then forgot us until time for us to leave. At that point two in my party complained that there was little to no alcohol in our drinks. I had a Cosmo and it was bright red - a sure sign that it was all cranberry juice. The server was sarcastic, didn't apologize or ask if we'd like to order something else, and corrected my husband. We asked to speak to a manager who eventually came over but didn't introduce himself. We had to ask if he was the manager. We told him we were disappointed in our drinks and the lack of service we received. The manager then started explaining how they make their drinks and they "only use 1.5 ounces of alcohol" in their drinks. I told him that was what we were accustomed to but that amount wasn't in our drinks. My husband told him he was a former bartender so he didn't need to be schooled on how drinks were made. The manager didn't apologize for our dissatisfaction with the drinks or service, didn't offer us another drink or to the comp the ones we had, didn't offer a dessert or a coupon for a future visit. On a $95 bill, they were willing to lose a customer over $11! We were dumbfounded! And I didn't take the time to tell about how our server criticized golfers and children at the restaurant. My husband and I were on vacation and wanted a just a nice but affordable meal to get our trip started. We looked at the Yell reviews for the Flamingo Grill and figured there was enough good with the bad to make it what we were looking for, however we were very disappointed. The atmosphere was fun with what we described as an older Las Vegas golden movie era diner feel- cool neon lights and pictures of past movie stars. The food and service is what was disappointing. I got what was a simple fish sandwich and something they make every day and found it to be just that- mediocre. My husband chose their special for the evening which sounded great! Crab stuffed grouper with a special sauce and side of veggies and he chose garlic mashed potatoes as his second side. The fish had no flavor and was not stuffed. The sauce was greasy and any flavor it added was not a pleasing one. The veggies were poorly drained and swimming in a watery run off. The server brought baked red potatoes instead of mashed and when the correct side did come it tasted like boxed, not fresh. We had also ordered a house soup for an appetizer which never came, and the server forgot to refresh our drinks twice so that we had to ask another server passing by. The restaurant didn't seem terribly busy so I'm not sure what was going on with the service but the food was nothing to write home about and when the bill came out the special was $33- OUTRAGEOUS for what was served. We were blown away by the excellent level of service and the quality of the food. We started with the she crab soup, should have gotten 2! The filet was the best cooked medium rare I have ever had. The lobster bites melt in your mouth. The prime rib was the best my husband has had. Wished they offered yorkshire pudding. The serve team was very upbeat and organized. Very average for this type of seafood restaurant. Old fashioned and dated decor, food, and presentation. Booth we were seated in was uncomfortable and had ripped upholstery. Walking in, this place looks like it can't decide if it wants to be a 50's themed restaurant or a seafood place. We got there right around 6 so it wasn't too busy, and we were quickly seated. Then we waited, and waited. When the waitress finally came it was pretty much, "what do at want to drink?" We ordered, and then we waited. By the time she was back with our drinks we knew what we wanted. The wife ordered the broiled shrimp plate (I think. It was some sort of shrimp plate.) I got the crab cake and Cajun fried shrimp. Both meals came with a salad and choice of garlic mashed potatoes or.....I don't remember what the other kind of potato was. This review isn't going so great so far. The salads were ok. When the meal came I was expecting a little more food for the price we were paying. I think I had 5 or 6 fried shrimps and a small crab cake. They were just okay. The meal came with a price of garlic bread, which I'm guessing was microwaved since it was rock hard three minutes after I got it. The wife didn't say one way or the other how she liked her meal so I'm guessing it was okay too. Also, the lighting was weird, if not horrible. read more

Horriable service had to ask for the drinks that where sitting on the bar.. waiter never picked up dishes unless we ask... food came out wrong then what I ordered, then said well u have to wait 15 mins for med rare steak which makes no sense a steak cook Med rare don't take that long! He goes but we have prime rib ready which was cold when it came to table.. worst experience ever especially suppose to be high class place. Then I sent email they never responded and the owner block my number tried to call multiple times... my fiancé called and got right thru.. owner is A-hole argued with me.. my fiancé heard everything what a joke of restaurant.. might be nice 90 percent of the time but b careful 40 dollar steaks and they don't even know how to cook them do your self a favor and go to Texas Roadhouse better steak and way cheaper! Have been going here for many years and also the sister restaurant Cagneys which has since closed. The food has always been fantastic and the best prime rib on the strand. However we will not be returning as the noise level intolerable. Babies crying, kids yelling and crawling on floor was more than my wife and I wanted with our dinner. If you want to have a nice dinner with your significant other and be able to carry on a conversation without having to yell so they can hear you this is not the place for you. I will not be going back no matter how good the food and would not recommend this place unless you bring ear plugs. read more

We've been coming to Myrtle Beach for 22 years and have driven by this place at least 100 times. Time to check it out. Six adults in our party, all ordered different items. Everybody was very pleased with their food, from flounder to shrimp to steak to pasta, outstanding!! Our waitress was excellent, the service was superb, just a damn good dining experience. When we head back to MB in a couple months, we will surely stop in again. read more

went here for dinner at around 6:30 on a tuesday night..it was busy but not packed yet which was good. We had a party of 5 and they had lobster bites (which is usually an entree) as an appetizer so we ordered those. They were delicious! Very tasty and you can tell they were homemade. Their salad dressings were homemade as well. I ordered the pasta scallops which was fettucine with scallops in a pesto/tomato sauce and it was excellent. The sauce was very flavorful and tasted even better when i dipped the garlic bread in it. Others in my party ordered different seafood dishes and we were all very pleased with our meals. A bonus was that the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The foodrunners had no issues with which meal belonged to who at the table and there was no fumbling around. When we arrived, we were told we would have a 30 minute wait. This ended up being 60 minutes! We were seated and ordered immediately because we had plenty of wait time to figure out our choices. Then the next wait began! We waited for 65 minutes for our meal. When it came, three of the six entrees were cold. We were starving so ate the cold food since it was 9:30 p.m. The waiter apologized, but by then we were done. Our food was also just one notch above mediocre and expensive! The Flamingo Grill was recommended highly to us by multiple people, the decorations were nice and so were the staff, we were told that the lobster bites were amazing so we all ordered them. The lobster bites tasted like fried shrimp ($24 dollar shrimp). When my mother talked to the manager he said that she must have been full and that nobody has ever complained about them before, which made things a little awkward. Although I'm sure anything else would have been better, they were a major let down. read more

This was a disappointment. It was too crowded; too 'assembly line' oriented--everyone got the standard salad and bread (tasted like it was made earlier in the day) and one group member was dissuaded from ordering rare prime rib by the waiter who 'advised' that medium was tastier! What server does that? Why not just admit there's no rare prime rib? And for a restaurant whose forte is prime rib, why wouldn't there be rare available at 5 in the afternoon when the restaurant opened AT FOUR? The bloom is off this rose and the reputation ship they push from the past has long since sailed. read more

Love this place. Eat here every time my husband and I visit Myrtle Beach which is every year! It's hard to find good seafood in NMB and those buffet chains just don't cut it and the seafood is excellent here. The prime rib is also great. read more

We had read some good reviews and wanted to try it out. We had pretty good yet overpriced food and terrible service. We waited forever to order, to get refills, to get our tickets, to get the right ticket, to get the right ticket again. We had finished eating and still waited over 40 minutes to get the tickets resolved. Go somewhere else for Dinner! read more
