If you've ever stayed on property at a national park, the Flamingo Lodge is a five star National Park experience. On property restaurant is perfectly fine and Service is great at the restaurant. It is walkable to the marina where you can take boat tours and rent kayaks, etc. You will likely see a manatee there too. The shipping containers turned into rooms were comfortable and we had hot water every morning. We cooked our breakfast on the kitchenette every morning with no issues. The Internet was OK considering you are in a wilderness area. The electricity went out a couple times, but was resolved relatively timely. Once I hit all the rest of the national park, I'll gladly come back and stay here again. read more

Apparently the only restaurant around--I mean when your options are limited, what can you do. We had finally made it to Flamingo after a couple of stops, and when we saw that there was an actual restaurant, I figured we should check it out. It's on the second floor, there was plenty of seating, and you order at the counter. We got a smoothie and a Mahi wrap. Went in with low expectations, and the food honestly wasn't bad. No real complaints. I'd recommend checking this place out if you are looking for some real food in the area. read more

The Flamingo Restaurant was a very nice and well air conditioned break from the brutal summer heat for our family. All we ordered here was a berry smoothie and it was absolutely delicious. It only took them about 2 minutes to bring it to us after we ordered. It looked like they also had a full service bar, which we would've taken full advantage of if we had more time. This restaurant was super nice and everyone there was really friendly. Would definitely stop in if you're in the area! It was a little hard to find. If you're headed south on the main road, it is about 0.10 miles past the Guy Bradley Visitor Center on the left side. It's the building built up on stilts connected to the lodge. read more

I decided to stay in the glamping tents for a night while visiting the Everglades, and crossed my fingers that this restaurant would be good enough. It's counter service with basic burgers and sandwiches and met my expectations for a restaurant that is in the middle of nowhere. My 9y/o got a hot dog and I got the mahi wrap. The hot dog was a normal hot dog. The mahi wrap was definitely better than I expected! There was a bar that looked well stocked but I passed since it was just me and the kid. Overall, a good option if you're staying overnight and don't feel like camp cooking or driving an hour or more out of the park. read more

You have 3 dining options when staying at Flamingo: prepare something at your campsite, drive 50 miles to civilization, or eat at the park franchise restaurant. I had just finished a long hike and was utterly exhausted so reluctantly I decided to eat here. I had very low expectations and they were not exceeded. Menu is limited to sandwiches, salads, soups, finger foods and the like. No "protein/starch/vegetable" style plates. I decided on the empanadas appetizer and a Caesar salad. The empanadas were just horrible: underseasoned ground beef in a leathery overfried dough. Fortunately I spotted a bottle of Tabasco and used it liberally. The salad was edible: romaine likely from a bag pre-chopped, a generous amount of parmesan shavings, two huge packets of Ken's dressing of which I only needed about a half packet, but the tomatoes were inedible so I didn't. (But what are tomatoes doing in a Caesar salad anyway?) It needed pepper but the only choice here is the single-serving packets, of which I used about 8. No salt and pepper shakers to be found here. There is no table service. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food when ready. Then when paying you have to endure the mild embarrassment of selecting a custom tip. The "suggested gratuity" options start at 15% and go up from there but there's no way I'll tip 15% for limited service. 10% is ample. Ambience: like a cafeteria. A few fish sculptures on the walls are the only nod to the Everglades setting. You'd hope at least for good views of the bay but no: it is visible but very obstructed by vegetation. The visitor center nearby has much better views. The outside dining area was on the side with even more limited views, and tucked against the mangroves. I imagine pretty much unusable during mosquito high season. Every empty table, without exception, was dirty. Wet with spills, crumbs, and worse. I selected the least dirty one and was careful where I placed my arms. I was very tempted to ask somebody to clean it but wasn't feeling that assertive. Campers at least have options but I feel bad for those staying at the lodge who don't really have an alternative. Do better, Everglades National Park! read more

Seriously, I was not expecting much coming to the only restaurant in Everglades National Park near Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center. It was attached to the Flamingo Lodge walking distance via paved trail from the visitor center. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and overall experience. Service was just under diner quality. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Staff were nice though and did their best to help. They offer alcoholic drinks there as well. I loved the pulled pork sandwich. I didn't taste a lot of pineapple as described on the menu but it had so much flavor and the bun was extra buttery. I gobbled it down so fast, I almost wished we were staying at the lodge so I'd have to come back here. Everything was priced fairly. I'd come back if ever around the area. It was a beautiful escape and incredibly peaceful getaway from my short experience here. Very relaxed and casual ambiance as people eating here are probably hiking, fishing, or camping nearby. The new Flamingo Lodge and Flamingo Restaurant offer visitors the chance to stay comfortably in the midst of Everglades National Park and enjoy fantastic amenities. I stayed at the lodge in a 2 bedroom 1 bath unit, which was a great experience. The unit was clean and surprisingly roomy. Space was well utilized and included a well equipped kitchen area with two burners, microwave, and a good sized fridge and freezer. Water pressure was excellent for showering. Balcony overlooking the water was awesome except for the bugs! Bug spray is a requirement for sure. The Flamingo Restaurant was also excellent. I had dinner and breakfast overlooking the Everglades. It is beautiful. For dinner, I opted for the blackened mahi wrap with mango salsa. You can have fries or black bean salad as a side. Both were good but I loved the fries. The wrap was big and delicious. This place has a full bar too with a nice TV and classic music playing over speakers. For breakfast, I had a big blueberry muffin and a fresh green smoothie made with spinach and avocado. Loved every drop. They are open from 7am to 9pm. I bet you'll love it too. It's a wonderful experience to be in the Everglades and have such modern amenities available. read more

Just to add.... Wi-Fi is limited Only AT&T phone service No EV Gas within miles, we didn't need that, but y'all should know! Gas also not available past Homestead! FILL UP!! 1 restaurant, we enjoyed everything about the food, views, employees... very pricy! You can cook in your room, minimal supplies but a definite can do!! NOT ADA compliant in all areas.... 1 building available with elevator...other then that your shucking your bag up the hot metal stairs! So pack accordingly! Small bags/small loads! This is the only place to eat at Flamingo so I guess they don't have to serve good food. The nachos were lacking in toppings and the chips were not fresh. The Cuban and BLT were ok. It's convenient and the service is good, but you are probably better off packing your lunch. read more

My parents and I stayed at the lodge for two nights and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner all at the restaurant. The service at the lodge and restaurant was amazing. We loved working and talking with Savannah while we were there. The lodge rooms were small BUT they did the job and overall we had no complaints. The new restaurant at Flamingo is now open! Open from 7am to 9pm, the Flamingo Restaurant offers American cuisine and a small but friendly bar. So far, I've sampled the burgers, the chicken club and the Cuban sandwich -- all were well prepared, nicely presented and delivered promptly. The facility is new and spotless. The full bar just opened and features a rotating menu of draft beers as well as cocktails. The dining room has a nice view of Florida Bay. Seating is generously spaced and comfortable. Prices were competitive with similar restaurants up in civilization. Look, no one is going to splatter the place with Michelin stars but for a good meal in a beautiful setting, you won't go wrong. read more

Two of us walked in and only four patrons in the entire place (it's late May). We sat at an empty bar to order drinks and food. Waited a few minutes and girl at register finally asked if we're ready to order (she gave us menus when we walked in but didn't say we had to place order at register). We said we'd like to start with drinks. Apparently underage, she couldn't serve us, so went to back to ask for assistance. Guy with gloves comes up (food preparer) and got a beer for one of us. I don't drink beer so ordered a mixed drink. He said he can't do that so went to the back. Returns saying person who can do that is "counting money." I said I'd wait since I don't drink beer. Another guy comes out with a handheld tablet and looks like he's doing inventory, but never comes near us. After over 20 minutes of waiting, the gloved guy reappears and I ask how much longer he thinks the "counting money" guy would be. He says he has no clue then starts mopping the floor. I tell him we'll close out and won't be ordering food either then. He ignores us, then I ask if the girl can close us out. She asked if we wanted to order food and I said no, not after that! Left no tip, which I never do, even in poor service. Here a couple more days and will just eat and drink in the R.V. This place deserves zero stars. read more
