The portions here are so plentiful and absolutely delicious. Sometimes places with big portions lack in quality, but not here! The atmosphere is very home town lake vibes and I love the little gift shop. Food was incredible and im pretty sure I'll be eating it for the rest of the week. They were busy but our server was attentive.

Seriously Good eats and great vibe! Wish I lived closer, I would frequent this place. The service was excellent and the food always came out perfect. If you are in the Branson area and want to go for a drive, think about heading to flat creek for some catfish, crab legs and serious dessert.

Okay, I came here to this cute kitschy place with a group expecting there to be nothing on my keto, dairy free, gluten free, no red meat diet ( yes, I'm annoying, I get it.) However, I reluctantly ordered the chicken wings ( asked for them extra crispy with the Cajun sauce) and a side salad expecting a ho-hum meal. To my ultimate SURPRISE, these WERE LITERALLY THE BEST CHICKEN WINGS I'VE EVER HAD in my 38 year old life!!! I can't rave enough about how big, crispy, flavorful, and perfect they were! They had little fat, which was a huge plus too. However you're making these Flat creek, keep doin' it! I'll be back soon for these tasty wings!

Terrific late lunch, great menu with many offerings...had the fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes and all were excellent. Chicken was spot on, crispy and seasoned well. Green beans were just like Granny made them. Great vibe..,mix of Broadway Oyster Bar (in StL) and the bar in "True Blood". Had an awesome bar area as well with pool table and great jukebox.

This menu tells your your stomach to prepare for a full on tasty assault.

What seems like a long drive into a random place is very much not that. The seafood dip and fresh friend chips will make you moan in agony because you know you've got to plow through it to get to the boiled seafood platter, the side of delicious fried catfish, melt in your mouth steak, green beans, and fried up okra. Better bring a wheelbarrow to haul yourself to the cat. And plan on unbuttoning your pants so you can breathe again. Worth every second of the misery!

Visiting Branson for my boy's WS Tournament, had the day off & went to the lake with fam & team. Heard of this spot and we stopped to check it out. We had a large party, all hungry, and looking for a place that would satisfy everyone. Man this place is good!!! I had their own brewed beer (pretty darn good!!) as well as the chicken & catfish plate and was not disappointed!! The chicken was nice & juicy, great flavor, the catfish was also pretty good, oh and it comes with fries, coke slaw, amazing hush puppies!!! Others had nachos, taco salad, burgers, Buffalo bites, fish, etc. Everyone pleased with their food. And those margaritas & bloody Mary's are awesome - watch out for that 60oz margarita AKA "the fishbowl". All in all, great place to come eat & have a great time!!

    Food at Flat Creek.

TL;DR: Unusually horrendous service tonight. Destiny did great, everyone else failed her. Currently eating at Flat Creek in Cape Fair, MO. I'm not sure what's going on tonight. Service is usually prompt and the food comes quickly. Tonight, however, they do not have many customers and there was no one waiting to be seated, yet it took probably almost 10 minutes to be seated. After being seated, it took at least another 10 minutes to get drinks (fountain drinks). Our food took over 45 minutes and by the time we received it, some of it like the pulled pork was cold, and others were hard from sitting under the plate warmers. What is sad is that our server, Destiny, was doing a phenomenal job but wasn't really being supported by the rest of team it looked like. Destiny was playing hostess, serving the 3 largest tables of customers, to include our 6-top, sweeping the floor, bussing tables, etc. Meanwhile, the other two servers were only serving. At least one of the other servers saw our food was sitting at the pass for a while and she didn't bother to tell our server or bring the food to us. She just meandered around. The kitchen also did not hit the bell for our server to know the food for her table was ready. Destiny is awesome, but the rest of the staff failed her tonight.

Well, first hire some managers that aren't full of themselves. Waitresses that actually are waiting on customers

TEXAN here & frequent visitor to TX Top 50 BBQ (TX Monthly updates every 4 yrs), which as you know…read moreis the king of the cuisine. I'm certain I've the experience to know what good BBQ is & isn't. And, boy howdy, this IS! Without a doubt, if Old 76 were in TX, they'd easily be on that coveted list of world renowned BBQ joints. That's truthfully rare to find outside the state. Situated exactly between Branson & West Branson, is this gem that's clean cut & the BBQ, sides too, is superbly executed. I'm not saying stuff to sound good. This is L E G I T, the real deal. They're pushing TRUE barbecue as it ought to be, not like some wannabe. I dare you to try any other place & find the same superb quality for ALL aspects. Get there before opening because the line gets long fast & the ordering takes time. There's limited seating that fills up quickly. I only wish it were larger in space & had the capacity for more help in front than 1 person. But for modestly using the limited space adjacent to a gas station, it's tastefully & professionally decorated & comfortable, just right for what it is, as opposed to the tacky, out-dated & sparse, or overdone interior that one tends to see elsewhere. Waiting for BBQ is honestly an experience & you must be prepared to wait your turn. That's how it is in TX for all the joints, folks ordering FCFS after waiting patiently in line for hours until sell-out. It's worth waiting on & building camaraderie with those about you. After all, you're about to celebrate gastronomically, I promise! Best sides: ALL of them but especially the corn casserole. You'd think it's vegetable bread pudding, it's so scrumptious!! Beans are no less than fantastic with bits of brisket - so warm & comforting. Potato salad is just a massive winner of full-mouthed goodness that's not typically mayo-ed down. Don't pass up the mighty fine coleslaw for topping your pulled-pork, pickles & bread for a highlight finish. Speaking of pickles, add more as a great acidic accompaniment. The sauce here is on the sweet side. It's really not needed AT ALL except to occasionally boost the flavor kick if taking leftovers for later. The meat's simple pepper & salt crust is all you need. & speaking of the Meats: Truly the star of the show as they should be. See the platter photo for yourself. Pick of choice or prime brisket. Prime for us. We could've appreciated a little bit thicker of a smoke ring but it was there despite the fast cook it probably endured. It needed to be a little less done on the fatty side but it was awfully tender anyway. Absolutely a winner brisket done right, so I can sweat the small stuff. All said, the perfect seasoning & bark set the tone & to me for brisket, that is most important. 99% perfect. Chicken: dark meat extra peppery & almost overdone but the white meat was super tender & nice to eat. It doesn't take away from the whole goodness of the platter though. Bologna: these ain't no lame Oscar Meyer store bought flappers. Talk about thickly cut, juicy heaven! Wow is all I can say - absolutely YUMMY. Pulled Pork: P I G G Y P E R F E C T. Don't even need sauce! Use the pillowy potato bread to die & go to taste bud heaven with rivers of salivation. This is so succulent, you might keep it all for yourself in a group setting. Ribs: BEST OF SHOW. These are guaranteed to be the best ribs in MO. Perfect pull & bite. 2 stacks of the thick bone-in pig walls left me amazed after just seeing the miraculous color & cook on the exterior of these spares. Their taste & texture solidified that Old 76 Smokehouse is the most bona fide BBQ joint I've ever been to in the Midwest. These ribs aren't somewhat good enough, they are majestic. My only wish is they'd had a beef rib aka meat candy option too. Desserts: both Bread Pudding & Key Lime Pie are highlights not to be missed. Stacked tall & the absolute righteous finish to seal the deal for such an experience. I just can't say enough good things about Old 76. Loved it so much, our 5-guy party bought shirts & a hat to wear in TX & TN. If this was local for us, "O76S" would be a frequent stop. We're BIG fans now. Last but not least, the gentleman working the show & taking orders was kinder than Jesus. He treated us right, & that's a fact. Talk about hospitality to the Nth degree. Ain't nobody going to be sad about that & we'll remember this kindness in anticipation of being right back ASAP! What we couldn't stuff ourselves above the gullet, we took home & all the girls promptly & heartily finished it off exclaiming how wonderful it was. They only missed out on the experience but not the tenderness & flavor!! Visitors & locals alike, DO NOT MISS this opportunity to dine like a king!! You will have died & gone to Texas, I mean heaven! One con & warning: if you don't have a truck with ample under-carriage space, avoid the furthest drive-way next to the fence. It is too steep & you WILL run aground, as we did. Enter & exit on the gas station side only.

When we first pulled up the place looked like it might have been closed, but it wasn't. We were just there at an unpopular time of day. It was around 2:45pm so after lunch and too early for dinner, but we were hungry. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted by a very kind and informative gentleman. We told him we had never been there before and he informed us that because it's a bbq place, they sell out very early. It was also St Patrick's Day and he told us even those specials were all sold out. He proceeded to tell us what they had left and made recommendations for us based on what was available. We ended up ordering the smoked turkey, burnt ends, potato salad and the bbq beans. The sauces we tried were a mustard based bbq sauce and their traditional house bbq sauce. We took a seat at a table while we waited for our food. It's a seat yourself dining room. Our only complaint about the dining room was the lighting and temperature. It was too dark inside and the temperature was too cold, but it was also very cold outside. Our food was brought out pretty quickly and everything was worth the wait! The turkey was so moist and tender and the burnt ends were charred just right. The potato salad and beans were both large enough to share. The potato salad had an unusual flavor because it was made with pickles which we love so it was different but incredibly delicious at the same time. I was so glad we ordered it. The beans were just okay for me, but my daughter really liked them. Personally, I don't get too excited about beans when there's better options to try. I'd rather put those carbs and calories to better use. LOL The sauces were both good but the mustard one had a very strong mustard flavor so if mustard isn't your thing you're not going to like it. The house sauce is just the right mix or sweet and smoky. As I'm writing this review, I'm craving the potato salad so much and the turkey too. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely stopping there again. Nice staff, great food, and good portions what more to ask for.

The texture didn't seem right as I chewed it. Seemed like it had a filler and very little fat. I asked for 3 BBQ sauces in my to go order. When I got home, there weren't any. I had their BBq with an old bottle of store bought sauce that's been sitting in my refrigerator for months. Overall, great brisket and turkey offset by bad pseudo sausage. And a BBQ joint that doesn't give you the sauce is pretty unforgivable.

I am a firm believer that really good smoked meat does not need barbecue. It is ok if you want to put a little barbecue on smoke meat, but the smoked meat should be good enough that it doesn't need it. Pop's wings were incredible.
