A clean, shinny shop found in the Coligny Circle area, Flatbread served some nice seafood grub from their lovely outdoor bar. Cycling for hours taking in the sights, the drink and eats here fulled me for my adventurous way back. This joint is not related to any other 'flatbread' named places nationwide. I met the owner and he has the trademark for South Carolina. He also nicely allowed me to use my Yelp coupon even though he had cancelled that deal five years ago. Kind gentleman. I had two 20-onces of Seaway 420 a smooth local ale that hit the spot. It was IPA-ish minus the thick hops. I suggest this draft for ale lovers visiting the area and looking for something different. I ordered a nicely sauteed Carolina crab cake ($8.95)that was thick, tender, and crabby all the way down. Sitting on top of corn relish with red pepper aioli sace the breaded lush cake could be filling enough for some people. I though also ordered their Seafood Roll, a wrap featuring grouper, baby shrimp, lump crab in a majo dressing with lettuce and tomato. ($10.95) This was fantastic, the grouper a foundational taste that canvassed the baby shrimp and lump crab paint-taste above. The majo dressing adding a splash of background this wrap is fresh and made with high quality seafood. The fries I selected as my side were ordinary. Several upscale casual items round out the menu such as Tuscan pizzas, burgers, and other rolls. We started with the clam and shrimp chowder. It was hot and had a bit of a kick. We did find clam but did not notice any shrimp. It was loaded with celery and corn to add substance. We then tried the grilled grouper sandwich. The filet was smaller than the small bun. The bun was over grilled and tasted burned. The filet itself had no noticeable flavor. It came with fries and creamy coke slaw. Definitely not worth the price. The best part of the meal was the shoe string fries. Hot and crispy. Too bad they came tied to a $15 sandwich. Terrible waste of a nice location, solid interior and fairly good service by serving nothing better than mid-range bar food and mostly national brand beer at the bar. Po-Boy was nominal. It's not hard to deep fry the kid's entrees. The burger was average. Pizza was pretty good, though, and the most redemptive part of our experience aside from our very personable waitress. I can't imagine increasing the quality of the food and adding more local tap beer .... most people are vacationing on Hilton Head and want something they can't get at home ... would be that hard and would easily justify a couple dollars more per entrée and another star or possibly two. read more

It was clearly busy. The host sat us after putting a family of 5 before us on a wait (we were also a family of 5). Before she even addressed us she proceeded to roll silverware in front of us. I am a host at a restaurant and would be reamed out for rolling silverware in front of guests. On top of that we were sat in a booth that wasn't fit for 5 people, so we packed in like sardines. We sat in the booth for 20 minutes and I said we will give it 5 more minutes and if we aren't greeted we will leave. We were never greeted and several servers had walked past us multiple times. The food looked good but we didn't stick around to find out as we never got our drink orders taken in the 25 minutes we sat there. Severely understaffed and needs to hire a host who knows what they're doing and actually seems to enjoy their job. She did not look like she enjoyed her job. Really disappointed. read more

Very delicious and friendly. My diamond in the rough. Most people during the off season probably will miss this place and you shouldn't. Delicious flatbread pizza. Not oven baked. But stone fired pizza and every combo is on point. Salads are also a good choice to accompany your pizza. The whole menu is good and very fresh. Craft cocktails are great. I recommend the skinny margarita if you're a tequila person. Also the tequila colada is refreshing. The fact that the restaurant was not busy also led us to believe that the food probably wasn't that good. We didn't stay to find out. When we first sat down we were pleased. Nice shaded table outside with a cool breeze and we were starving after a day on the beach. It ended there. Our waitress was rude from the first moment. Extremely rude to the point I had to convince my wife not to make a scene. On top of her attitude the service was very slow for only having a handful of customers (3pm on a Thursday). Then the food arrived. My son's $6 spaghetti looked and tasted like they just popped a can of chef-boy-r-dee onto a plate. Absolutely disgusting. And my wrap was just some ham slices and spring mix in a stale tortilla. The fries were stale, cold, and rubbery. The $30 meal had the quality of a McDonald's value meal. Do not recommend. The best good affordable food in Coligny area! We stumbled upon this place hoping for a simple chicken tenders & fries after a long day. We were tired of overpaying for subpar food on the island. The chicken tenders we ordered were battered in Yuengling and had the perfect crisp and the fries had the perfect amount of spice. Honey mustard was amazing and tasted homemade, we topped it off with a boyland root beer. They had a great alcohol selection as well we just weren't drinking at the time. I ordered a meatball pizza and the meatballs looked so gross and tasted horrible so I was very disappointed. We just stoped by for drinks and app during happy hour. Hands down, this is one of the most attentive staff and the best menu this side of the island. For lunch or dinner, I can't say Flatbread wouldn't be a perfectly fine choice. I think we've all run into places that are similar. Standard food across the board. They're not any "specialties" on the menu, but a decent selection that won't cost a ton. Just had appetizers -- nachos and bruschetta bread. The bruschetta wasn't at all what I expected, more like a Mediterranean pizza and that brought down my rating. My hunch is the menu is similar to a Chili's restaurant if you're looking for a barometer. Decent bar with televisions, the norm. Location and price make Flatbread a worthy choice. read more

Great place to eat right next to the ocean. A little late on the review as we visited back in August. You can eat a great meal that is literally a 2 minute walk to the actual beach. The service was quick and friendly. The food was brought out pretty quickly as well. The shrimp basket was great. We ate outside which was during the day and it was pretty nice out there.
