While his resources for alternator…read moreparts didn't carry parts for my particular alternator, he spent about 20 minutes talking with me about possible options, the particulars of water cooled alternators vs. air cooled, brands carried by AutoZone and more. So, if you're having alternator trouble call them up and see if they can rebuild it. Rebuilding your alternator locally is the better option than store bought units.

Basically $200 for the time spent returning them. JR said they couldn't. Bill said why not? There is a 90 day return policy. JR said they threw away the box. Bill asked why would you do that? Bought the parts they recommended (radiator, water pump, electric fans, thermostat, etc.) and when I got it back I could barely drive it due to it overheating so fast. (worse than when I initially brought it in) Took it in there again and they said they thought my head was cracked and they could get a used head put on it for $800 out the door. Weeks went by and they were still working on it. After a couple of weeks I went in to check on it and was told they still hadn't found a head for it, so I went on quadratec.com and ordered a $700 head and got it sent directly to their shop because I needed to have my vehicle back. They then stopped answering the phone and when I drove by their doors were closed and locked. I later found out they got raided by the police for a stolen motor. They didn't show up for 5 days. Finally got the jeep back and even though I provided the head they charged $775. The jeep would overheat so fast I had to shut it down at stop lights. Took my jeep in there running, got it back about $3,000 later after waiting almost 2 months and couldn't even drive it. Ended up taking it to Tribe16 in Fort Worth and they corrected the issues in a few days. Lessons learned: 1. Waiting for a reputable mechanic to have an opening to work on your vehicle and fixing it right the first time takes a lot less time, money, and effort than letting just any self labeled "mechanic" work on your vehicle 2. If the "mechanic's" google page has multiple pictures of wrecked vehicles you should probably avoid it 3. Typically, good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good
