I've been there before and had a great time but this girl Jennifer Garcia is a horrible manager. I tried to get bottle service and it took her 3 days to get back to me; over a week and a half to get all of the info I wanted, which ended up being too late. What I did get were really short emails that reminded me of a shitty text message instead of a response that says that this company wants to take care of their customers. I did not feel like this Jennifer girl cared at all about trying to help me out. I'm sure the float is a good spot, but if you go, lower your expectations with this girl. It's April again, which means that Hard Rock's Sunday Intervention has returned! Modeled after Hard Rock Las Vegas' Sunday Rehab, this new San Diego event has given us all an excuse to put off the Monday blues and give Sunday its own slot in the weekend fun. After two successful summers, I can't wait to see what the Hard Rock has added to this pool party on steroids. Ever since Sunday Intervention rolled into sunny San Diego in 2008, I have counted down the days until April -- signaling the beginning of Summer at the Hard Rock. All San Diegans know that summer starts early in Southern California, and this is by far the best way to kick off the season. Most of the time being a VIP is the best way to do an event, but the girls and I love Sunday Intervention because even the non-VIP's feel like royalty. The Hard Rock transforms their upper level decks - the Float and the Woodstock Lounge - into the best pool-side party in San Diego. Not only do these two decks allow for 1,400 plus crowds, they are tricked out with couches, luxury lounge chairs, and cabanas. Each weekend they bring in a new celebrity DJ, and the party doesn't stop until sundown! I love Sunday Intervention because you get to leave the heels at home and throw on something more relaxing. The chilled out environment is the perfect way to shake off your Sunday morning hangover, and even ease your way into another cocktail (or two)! Floating in a pool overlooking beautiful downtown San Diego, cocktail in hand, and soaking up the sun has quickly become the only way I look to spend the last day of my precious weekend. If these parties are even half of what they have been in the past, I'll look to make it to as many as I can. It's been a long winter, and nothing is more welcoming than fun in the sun. Me and my wife stayed at the hard rock this past weekend. The hotel itself was amazing front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when we went to the pool on Sunday it was the complete opposite. The bar area was just opening up and I asked the bartender if I could purchase a drink his response was in a few minutes. Not even a minute later another gentleman approaches the bar and he sells him 2 drinks while completely ignoring me. I go back to the pool and wait for the waitress to approach meantime no drinks it took 1 hour for the waitress to approach our area mind you there was a total of maybe 5 people by the pool. I finally walked up to the bar area asked the same question to the man working the bar, he just stood there quiet didn't reply another girl stepped up to make my drink meantime I had 4 people starring at me standing around. As you can imagine I was upset but I didn't say anything at the time. This only got worst as I Walked away I could over hear the same guy talking to other workers about my muscle mass as if I was going up to the bar flaunting myself for being fit. Extremely unpleasant and un professional something I never experienced before in a pool setting at any hotel. To make matter worst one of the drinks I ordered came with a nice long hair on the cup and the same guys who where working the bar just sat there looking in my direction laughing. I literally though I was being punked meanwhile my poor wife could tell I was being treated in a completely unprofessional way. All I was simply doing is just having a relaxing day by the pool with my pregnant wife and it turned into such a bad experience for no reason. I wanted to order food but based on what happened had zero desire to order anything else. It's a shame especially considering how great the actual hard rock hotel staff was. read more

Ended up here with a group of almost 30 out of towners. With no exact destination in mind we decided to bar hop and check out a few local places. This was our 1st stop, and it was on rooftop and it had beautiful decor. We had a few drinks and listened to a few songs. Drinks were a little on the pricey side compared to where we come from. All in all, I would definitely recommend this beautiful rooftop club as a good place for a date or stepping out with a group of friends. Float had to be the worst experience I have ever had at a night club establishment. The nights started wrong when my wife and two friends stood in line for 20-minutes to get inside the club. I can understand waiting in line if the club is at capacity or if the line was long for a legitimate reason. But we were the only people in line with about 6 other ladies. After we went up to the club, we ordered some drinks from a rude female bartender and sat down on some sofas which were not being used. Not only were they not being used there was no signage indicating that these were not to be used by common folks. After about 10 minutes the bouncers came up to us and asked us to move out of the seats. We were not sure why so we asked politely and the bouncer stated, "These are paid seats." I assumed that this meant these seats had to be reserved. After the bouncer incident we concluded our evening at the Hard Rock Float. We did not feel we were wanted at Float. I will NEVER EVER return to this place. I majored in business in college and currently work in business field here in San Diego. The first rule of business is to make the customer happy and most important encourage the customer to return to the business with many friends... Float failed in this area as far as I am concerned. My wife and friends went to the Marriott's Latitude night club which is a couple blocks away. We were treated really good by the waitresses, bartenders and the music was great. We spent about 300 bucks and enjoyed doing so. read more

private vip cabana party with free champagne till 2pm so i can't complain. no outside food so the poor gals who brought in munchies for the bday group watched it be whisked away. only the cake was allowed. comfortable seating with flat screens to watch the game. i'm a bit weary of how clean the hot tub is. we had bottle service and since i wasn't signing the bill, i'm not sure how much it is. the most important thing is that the bday girl had a blast. park at the cash only garage a block away otherwise, it's $40 for the day for valet. read more

I came here for Intervention on a special Saturday for 4th of July weekend. I got mixed reviews from other Yelpers and some advice from a friend that already went. My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate the holiday weekend and I was hoping the experience would be similar to the popular Vegas party. Okay, so it's not. And actually, since it's during the day, the crowd seems less rambunctious, which wins points with me. Yes, drinks are pricey - bottled Bud Lights were $10 and simple mixed cocktails were $14, but when I did order a generic vodka soda, they're poured Grey Goose and it wasn't light, so that was good! DJ's were great (Gabriel and Dresden were the feature), played great house music. Half the club was VIP but there was still enough standing room for the GA crowd and room to walk around by the pool. Pool was very small and I didn't go in in fear of contracting chlamydia. Lots of girls there in teeny bikinis, stilettos, and full makeup on. Plenty of eye candy for all parties. No one seemed to get out of control either so it was a good party. Ladies leave your purse at home or only bring a small clutch because they won't let you in with a bag. I'd go again but I don't think I'd pay the $$ that I did because it was a special event, I'll wait for a regular Intervention Sunday. read more

Me and a group of about 15 people went to Float last night for a going away party. We had vip bottle service, 2 bottles of belvedere, which came to be around 500. We all had a great time, it wasn't too packed for a friday night. I ordered a few vodka tonics from the bar at 10 bucks, not too bad. They were pouring skyy vodka as their well. The views are pretty nice, but not the best in SD. They have a very modern decor and no real dance floor, so people were just dancing wherever. I would love to come for their intervention pool parties everyone talks about! read more

This place plays great music, has a great overall view, and a good environment. The only bad thing is the speaker's could definitely be upgraded, I've been there twice and both time's their were performers who's voice didn't sound as good through the speakers. Huge lines to get in, but once you are in, it's sooo nice! It's just cozy and easy. I love their lounge sofas that surround fireplaces. This kind of atmosphere makes it easy to meet other people. Float...hmmm, where do I begin. It's the pool lounge atop the 4th floor at Hard Rock. It's not that large, probably 3/4 the size of Envy's Eden rooftop. The only reason why I think it is small is b/c they block off all the fire pits & seating for bottle service only. So all the others that do not have bottle service have to stand near the bar where there's not much space. There's no dance floor but keep in mind that this is a lounge, not a dance club. The pool area which is located on the other side of the bar & Bottle service area is open w/ lounge beds/seating, but those are all wet from people lounging on them during the day. so you can't really sit on them. They play house music mainly. This is a nice place to chill only if you get bottle service. Another thing is, you can't hop from Float to 207, they are totally different clubs (both located at Hard rock). So, you have to pay 2 covers if you want to check out both. Or like me...get on the guest list and make up your mind on which club you want to chill at by 10pm!! 207 is really small too, gets packed quick b/c of this. I'll stick to Envy and Stingaree, much more spacious! read more

It's on the 4th floor, not the 22nd! Came here for an event and was pleasantly surprised. As soon as you walk in the bar area to the left, pool to the right and large lawn space right behind you. Views of the convention center and the street below are pretty cool. I have been eyeing this place for there pool parries, but it seems like it would get super crowded. This place was pretty okay. Came here for an Elite event a few nights ago. I've been to Float many times in the past and it hasn't changed much. The bartender (female) was very nice and looked like she loved her job. The food wasn't bad either. I liked the bbq empenadas the most. The fire pits and umbrellas were nice since it was raining. I have to be honest, if I was paying for all those drinks I had, it would've been more of a 3 star experience. I see myself coming back here soon b/c they always have some kind of party/event here and my experiences have all been positive. read more

Totally badass spot, rooftop, sexy lounge but really falls weak in two very important things required for a club: Djs are pretty weak and there is no solid dance floor. So we arrive for a show at FLOAT. Told we can't use the rolling racks we aren't guests. Luckily Bentley came to our aid. The promoter Heather Lange at Classy chick clothing did not tell us this. But, your employee was nice enough to help out. After getting there the power went out. 7:45-8:45 people were waiting downstairs. We had no clients who paid for tickets get up to us. We had nothing the promoter promised but your employees said there were no stairs. Why? There are no stairs for people who did not have a room? So if there was a fire should I jump off the roof? SERIOUSLY! I have to say Hard Rock staff was RUDE. We got pushed out of there because bottle service at 10. We paid 125.00 plus parking 40.00 plus tip for the only person who showed us any kind of human kindness 20.00 Hardrock experience was horrible. Parking manager is a ASSHOLE. I will tell everyone I know how horrible we were treated. I am mad. I don't even know where to begin. Went to an event yesterday evening.....drinks were highly overpriced, and I work in the gaslamp....so I understand drink prices. No industry discount? Interesting. The staff was also rude. The male bartender working yesterday 4/25 at 3 PM was not helpful as far as setting up our vending station for the event. He also shot a dirty look at one of my co-workers when she asked for help....you would think if you asked about an event at a venue they would know all the details as opposed to a "I don't know anything about what you're asking" response and then turning away with an attitude. If you don't like people you shouldn't work industry! The staff needs to know a little something about customer service...if I'm going to party on a rooftop, it'll NEVER be here. read more

Been here a couple times. The ideal time to go is on a Sunday evening and sip some cocktails next to a firepit and just enjoy that you live in America's Finest City. We went on Friday of ComicCon which was more chill than anticipated. Prices are as expected. Staff was extremely friendly until one gal in our party noticed some debris in her glass of Veuve. She politely asked for a different glass but one of the other bartenders protested when she said it was Veuve. He assumed she had gotten some comped cheaper champagne. Our original bartender confirmed it was Veuve but the "Rudeboy" bartender was still a stinkerpants. We'll be back buy will just avoid Mr Mean. read more

My husband and I discovered Float upon our arrival to the Hard Rock Hotel this past Saturday. We were tired from driving all morning and just wanted to sit and relax with a drink in our hand. Greg made us feel so welcomed and gave us some recommendations of where we should go for lunch. We chatted and laughed for awhile and then Ryan, Ashley, and Katie took over the bar. This bar crew is absolutely amazing! They are all so efficient! The drinks come out fast and the quality is superb. Top it off, they are all extremely friendly! We felt safe with all the security, especially in Dontrells presence (probably spelled that wrong!) We did not plan on hanging out at Float for 2 days, but the bartenders and the drinks kept us coming back for more! read more

We checked out Float on Friday and Saturday evenings. We had an enjoyable time partly because we were staying at the hotel and did not need to pay a cover. The drinks are a bit pricey, but what isn't in the Gaslamp? We did not have any trouble getting a drink, but a seat could be harder to find. The bar does create quite a bottleneck and makes it hard to pass. My suggestion to the Hard Rock is to cordon off the pool & hot tub and give access to the pool side beds and couches. This would give people room to spread out, but I guess they want things cozy. The VIP section takes up quite a bit of the club's space, but was mostly empty both nights. Not a bad club, but I am not sure I would want to wait and pay a cover to enjoy it. read more

As the name implies, this bar has a pool in it. Yaaaaayyyy. When I was there, I don't think I even saw the pool. I know they have the Intervention party here and I'm sure it gets really packed at night on weekends, but I was there early and got to enjoy the views, the sweet lounge area and my sweet, sweet 14$ drinks. read more

This place was awesome! The atmosphere is great, staff was super friendly, drinks were strong and music rocked. We went on a Friday night at 9:00 and stayed until 12:30 but it was still going strong when we left. We will definitely go back. Elijah, the VIP manager was so helpful getting our party planned. He offered us some special deals, too. We decided against the bottle service and fire pit but it was fine. The cover charge was $20 and the drinks were pricey but no cover if you get a bottle service. Overall, loved the place! read more

As a visitor to San Diego and brought here by my good friend from college, I did not anticipate ending my evening going home in an uber in tears. What happened: I brought a round of drinks for our group through the bartender Shannon. Tipped her 20% , thought I was a nice customer. We then sat down and ordered our drinks through other staff who ask to take the card for the tab (understandable) but when we went to close out they seemed to have lost the person who had the card. No big deal, we can wait, however the bartender Shannon who was not even involved, went on to explain that she had never seen us in her life. I only butted in to notify her that she intact has, only an hour ago when we ordered drinks from her. She continued to tell me her demanding job does not require her to remember all the people she serves. Then continued to lunge over the counter to tell me how rude I was and that she will proceed to kick me out of the bar. Being a bigger person I just walked away and left my boyfriend to get his card. As I am a bit sensitive, I was very upset and cried on the way home. This establishment needs to be a bit more selective in their hiring perimeters and Shannon needs an attitude adjustment.
