Menu wasn't very intriguing, pretty basic. I was expecting more honestly. Also, I was waiting to get approached at the table but no one did, I had to stand up and ask one of the girls for a menu, after reading over it, I decided not to get any food. By the time I decided no one had acknowledged me. I mainly went for vibes and pool, but the pool is on the smaller size compared to the area. There's alot of seating but it's "reserved" not sure if it truly is or they just put it on there for potential paid guests. Also, there were at least 7 kids in the pool, which killed any vibe and made me feel like I was on vacation with the whole extended family. The pool looked cloudy also. So to sum up, maybe have an even or time frame where only adults can hang etc. also maybe open up more seating not just paid seating, and maybe have the girls at the bar area be more socially aware.

My colleagues and I arrived at the hotel and decided to hang at the pool. Dinner wasn't anytime soon so we decided to something to eat. Fish Tacos (Baja Style) - fish was crispy and tender on the inside. The toppings were fresh and seasoned perfectly. The tortillas on side were perfect for catching the toppings the dropped. Smoked Turkey Club Sandwich - chicken was seasoned and delicious. The fries were so yummy. The seasoning reminded me of bbq chips. Avocado Toast - perfect for the person that's not looking for anything heavy. The drinks were also good.

This is our second time as a group and it's always a fun time during their summer Sundays. The food is overpriced, but make sense for a nice hotel in downtown at the pool. The lobster roll was small, but good. The drinks were tasty and everyone else said they enjoyed their food. One of our servers was very rude and treated us poorly which was unfortunate. We had another server that treated us much better. I would still go back-- always a fun time!! Parking: downtown street parking or valet parking. Don't forget to get on the guest list!

I celebrated my birthday at the pool house. Boris organized with me very well, communicated greatly and made sure we were happy up until we got there. Boris was great! We booked a cabana for a $1000 minimum. We were told it fit 15 people but it was pretty small. The service in the cabana was not great. They rarely came around to check on us. It was hard to flag them down, I even tried to order at the bar but they told me I have to wait for my server. The service charge is 25% so they got a pretty good tip for bare minimum service. The food was pretty standard, we liked the buffalo chicken wrap. My friends went to the bar to order food on a separate tab but they didn't allow them to come back to the cabana to eat it. The atmosphere was nice in terms of decor, but there is only one small pool and it's very crowded. Keep in mind they also had children at the pool. The atmosphere was interesting because it was a mix of older men (one of which harassed my friend) and younger women, then families. Music was decent, we requested some songs and the DJ tried his best to accommodate. He ended up playing a mixed version of similar songs we requested. Overall i'd give this place a 2/5, Boris did the best job at communicating I just think the service there was bad for what you're paying. Wouldn't recommend it and won't be back.

This review is mostly for the misleading ad on Eventbrite where they advertise as Lounge and Lunch and as a free event. I was supposed to meet with a girlfriend there for lunch and enjoy the pool. After waiting for a while my friend had an emergency and could not make it so I ended up leaving. Why? Usually I am not shy doing things alone but don't want to pay $30 for using the pool when the ticket says free event. So apparently the only free thing is that you are allowed and escorted to take the elevator to this rooftop. Initially I was confused about how to get there so I asked at the Pendry and the guys were kind of dry in the communication. Then I felt weird being escorted to the rooftop, common is not that grandiose (guy who helped me was super nice). I did not like to know that I actually could not use any lounge, just the tables at the restaurant. Took a peek at the menu and was not interested in being there plus as compared to the Hard Rock rooftop the views and vibes are lacking here. I guess I will go to some party at night and see the atmosphere in a different context but please do not mislead ladies in the Eventbrite posts.

The vibes here are a perfect 10/10 - with poolside seating, cabanas and tables by the bar. Located at an entrance to the left of the hotel, you are escorted in an elevator to the rooftop pool. Service is really outstanding. During our meal, we met several waiters and bartenders, all of whom were helpful and attentive. I'd be happy working there too as it it's such a fun ambiance. The drinks and food that we got were really good. Get the Wet sand cocktail - you'll be happy you did. They also have bottle archive available. It's a small menu food but with some really great options. Our fish tacos were really good - with lots of fresh guacamole on top. The açaí bowl was fresh with plenty of fresh fruit.

Honestly didn't expect much from the food. The place itself is super cute and the staff is friendly! We got a daybed with $150 min, so got a pitcher and a few food items - everything was so good!! Highly recommend eating here if you're staying at the hotel! IG: yehjesseats

I had lunch at The Pool House and enjoyed everything I had! I enjoyed the oysters, they were fresh! The fish tacos were crispy and delicious. The Beyond meat Sliders were really flavorful and so cute! The poke was fresh and spicy, which is how I like mine. The cabanas you can rest are cute and comfortable. The pool is great, even if you go on a cloudy day, they heat the pool so it's comfortable. The views are awesome of San Diego too. The service was great, everyone was very attentive. The lounge or cabana rental sounds expensive but it's actually totally doable because you get it for the whole day. Worth it!

First trip since covid started and of course we came to San Diego. This is a review for their happy hour. $1 oysters $8 cocktails and $8 bite. Awesome deal and good food. We had oysters and grilled fish tacos. Also great music and vibe at happy hour 3-5pm. Our server Jess was super friendly. Drinks were on points. We will be back and will bring friends.

I was strolling around the Gaslamp district and decided to check this cool hang out. JD is the manager and he was kind enough to give me a tour of the spa and Pendry Hotel which is attached to the Pool House. I love it here and thought about getting a cabana and cooling off in the beautiful pool. They have a $50 food and beverage minimum which is well worth it!! Hotel guests can use the pool of course! I love it here!! Everyone is so friendly and cool!!

Love this spot for a rooftop pool day! they have delicious bites & poolside drinks too. I love their frozen pina colada drinks and the Mediterranean board. Their staff was awesome and whether you're a local or visitor, it's a great spot to soak up the sun!

Is it kid friendly or more fun for adult only groups?

It's primarily an adult crowd but there were a few kids last time. It doesn't delve into any debauchery, but a few drunk people last time got into an argument and were asked to leave.

We would like to come this Sunday sept 1. I understand there will be a party for Labor Day. What time does it start for non hotel guests 11 am? Is the fee still 50 per person?

    Is this 21 and older?

Hi Jamie, Pool House is open to all-ages, the pool itself with a valid hotel room-key. Our Sunday parties are 21+ if you're not a hotel guest (returning soon, for the summer!)

I also loved how much attention they put into the presentation. Every drink looked like a piece of art and added to the whole tiki experience. SERVICE: 9/10 The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to answer questions and made great recommendations without making us feel rushed. AMBIANCE: 10/10 This is easily the highlight of the experience. The entire space is beautifully designed, and every little detail makes it feel like you've escaped into a hidden tropical bar. It's cozy, intimate, and unlike any other place I've been to in San Diego. Reservations are definitely worth making since the space is on the smaller side and fills up quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that, while the experience and ambiance were amazing, the drinks are definitely on the pricier side. I understand you're paying for the craftsmanship and atmosphere, but it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly because of that. It's common for tiki bars to be pricey so it was to be expected. Overall, I'm really glad I finally got to experience False Idol.
