I've been wanting to stop here for a while to try the ice cream. Finally had the chance to, and I was so disappointed! First, they don't have whipped cream. What!!?! What ice cream place doesn't have whipped cream? Second, they don't have hot fudge. Chocolate sauce yes, but why bother. Third, they don't have dips. Like chocolate or strawberry dip. Once in a while, I'm doing something outside my area of CT, and I drive by a place I've heard about. A Social Media Influencer recently asked of Flobee's Roadside, "did I just discover the best burger in Connecticut?" To be honest, it seemed like an aggressive suggestion given the number of great burgers in CT, but the thought did stick with me. About a week later, I happened to drive by Flobee's on my way to a nearby spot. I was curious about how good the burger really was, so I stopped. As the name suggests, Flobee's is a modern take on a classic roadside stand. The stand has a cool and clean aesthetic. There's no inside seating, but there's a comfortable picnic table area out back. Service was friendly and efficient. I just ordered a Depression Burger. I assume they use the phrase "Depression" because it's a smash burger, so they have to depress it. See what they did there? It comes with one patty, but you could add more. It's topped with sautéed onions, American cheese and pickles. The quality of this burger was perfectly appropriate for a nice upscale roadside stand. But I did not connect with this burger as a possible best burger in CT contender. I did not try my wife's Strawberry Softserv. She said it was pretty good. I think Flobee's is well worth checking out if you're in the area. I would not expect the best burger in CT though. 4 Stars read more

It's my initial review upon learning my beloved Ridgefield ice cream shop is gone. The rating may go up with future visits. Too bad they were not able to buy the soft serve recipe from Ridgefield. I don't love theirs as much - it's less rich and creamy. They also got rid of sugar cones and the choice of sizes is limited - regular and kids only. When I stop to indulge in ice cream, I personally want the BIG size. This new business is clean, it's hip, it's got an expanded seating area in the back and it has food items on the menu now. There seemed to be plenty of vegetarian items so that's awesome for a quick bite. I wish them well, but time will tell if I stop when I'm on that route north. Oftentimes I'd go north on route 7 to stop at Ridgefield ice cream or I go north to stop at Dr. Mike's in Bethel. Good luck with your new business! For those traveling on I-84, it's an easy stop off the exit for something quick. read more

Pretty good for a roadside stand! It doesn't look like much and is not in the best location (close to road and can't walk to anywhere else) however it is a convenient stop to pick up lunch from doing errands etc as it is along the main road. I don't have experience with the previous business so can't compare to that but have been frequenting Heibecks down the street for a long time. The menu here is on the smaller side however the items we've tried have been surprisingly good. The ingredients seem to be of good quality, fresh and everything is seasoned well. We've tried their kids meals, vanilla milkshake, fried pickles, shrimp po boy and chicken sandwich. The food was not overly greasy prices are reasonable. You can order online via toast and pick up at the side window - pickup times have been accurate (about 15 minutes or less). The staff is mostly local high school kids. There is an area in the of the parking lot with picnic tables and bathrooms. A big con of Heibecks is there is no bathroom. We prefer the milkshakes/ice cream at Heickbecks- the vanilla milkshake here was on the lighter side (maybe they put more milk) but that is just preference. We will come back to order again and hope they do well. read more

After driving by for the last few months we finally decided to give them a try. Not sure why we waited. Kids loved the Depression burgers and the Buttermilk chicken had great flavor and was so juicy. Ordered from home and got there 10 minutes later it was hot and ready even though they were very busy. Fries always tell the tale and they delivered. Crispy, the seasoning was fantastic, and more than enough in the order. Prices were reasonable, especially for this area. They also put in a nice area in back with picnic tables. read more

This is the all newly owned and updated Ridgefield Ice Cream shop! Other than the infamous recognizable landmark on route 7, everything about this place has changed. Let's dissect a little more... The footprint of this place hasn't changed but the decor has greatly been updated with pops of color, snazzy logo, utensil counter and a new real recessed seating area where you no longer have to fear for your life and get life insurance as you're eating your treat on the curb close to a main road! I believe they even have made a "restroom cabana" near their camp like setting kumbaya eating area. Really great touch. Felix is no longer the reigning mustached king here-new sheriff in town who seems to have pride in his creation and a really nice staff to accommodate a popular storefront. Flobee's is no longer all about "JUST" ice cream but it now offers food such as fried chicken sandwich, poboys, burgers, meatloaf sandwich, sides and kid's meals. Haven't had the chance to try their food but, a few choices have definitely intrigued me and has me yearning to come back and try how they fare in terms of food. As for ice cream, they offer hard and soft serve-this is where it all changes and for me, it's not for the better. The hard ice cream is from Longford's-that's a big change from Felix making his. If you like Longford's, great, but for me, there is far better. Their soft serve is also different in many ways-first off, you can get a legitimate twist! Not half bottom chocolate with half top vanilla (or vise versa), and they also have strawberry soft serve which you can also twist with vanilla-big change. As for quality, sadly, this trio did not win my heart-the creaminess was completely missing. This was more like ice milk meets soft serve-kind of reminds me of "Dole" soft serve texture. Very different from what I know soft serve to be. As for the strawberry, it reminded me of Nesquick Strawberry milk with a very fake bright bubble gum pink color. I opted for the waffle cone, which I do not think they make, but damn, that was pretty tasty...wish its top half matched! I am not done with this place as in all fairness, I must return and tastes a few of their offerings and see how they compare with the stand down the road which I always enjoyed. Again, they have different offerings which are really appealing and I am hoping that they are flavorful and texturally satisfying unlike the ice cream. I will be back because in my book, everyone gets a second chance but I won't be satisfying my sweet tooth here. The service was good and quick. The chicken fingers and fries my kids got were very tasty, I really like the sitting area and they offer sunblock and bug spray which is nice. However, I ordered the shrimp po' boy for myself which did not come with fries and it had 6 measly pieces of shrimp. Most bites were mostly lettuce and tomato. For $14 it should either include fries or have more shrimp. read more

The Good: Everything is new and clean, and there's a nice new seating area. Online ordering is easy and didn't take too long (15 minutes from order to pickup on a Saturday night). The fries are good and came out hot. The Average: The milkshake and chicken tenders were decent. It's a shame that they only offer soft serve flavors for the milkshake but the chocolate was fine. The Bad: Maybe they were struggling to keep up with weekend demand but calling two dry, room temperature grey patties a smashburger is a stretch. Somehow the "Basic B" came out both overcooked and cold, an impressive feat for 15 minutes! I'm almost never one to return food but I really considered taking it back. In the end, it was unpalatable enough that I only ate a few bites and tossed the rest. Would I give Flobee's another shot? Maybe. They're new and obviously have some things to figure out. It's clear a lot of effort went into the renovation, so hopefully similar efforts go into improving the actual food. read more

Been meaning to try this since it recently re-opened and we were so impressed! Their burgers and falafel burgers are both delicious , prices are reasonable, and their ice cream was top notch. The staff was so friendly and the owner went out of his way to make sure we were having a good experience. The bathrooms are sparkling and we love the vibes - outdoor music playing, eating outside at picnic tables under twinkly lights, and everything is super clean with a nostalgic flare. We loved it and we're thrilled that Flobee's is part of the community. We can't wait for summer nights at Flobees! read more

I wanted go like it but my chicken was raw in the middle. Fries were good but hard to look past the minimum requirements for fried chicken.

I have been here twice and the ice cream is very good. However, there are only 2 sizes - a child's size and regular. The large size does not warrant the price they charge. At best, it is a medium at most other places and the price should reflect that. When you charge $15 for 2 ice cream cones, the portion size should be bigger. I know they are new and maybe still working the kinks out, so I'll probably give them another try and see if anything has changed. read more

Food is great but I wish you had a system for when you're ordering ice cream along with food because when ordered together they then go and make your ice cream before your food is ready or the only alternative is to stand back in a long line just to get an ice cream.
