Part 2 The food is a lot better than I remember from the last time the service could be better. I feel like there's not enough people that work here the ambience is cozy and at times feels claustrophobic. Hence the extended patio part which is a good idea. Food can be on and off here, however portions are big enough for two people to split. Their chicken piccata is good, however last night I received grey chicken. Very good service, yummy fresh bread with butter, and delicious food. We got calamari which was fresh and crispy and comes with lemon slices and marinara sauce. My boyfriend loved the meatballs in his ziti and said the sauce was good. Everyone liked their food! I got the chicken aristocrat which had chicken and eggplant on top of creamy alfredo sauce with spaghetti noodles. Margherita pizza and chicken florentine were super delicious too. We have been going to Florentina's for over 10 years and always found the food reliably good. So we would invariably dine there every few months or so. We hadn't been there in a while but needing a quick Italian meal, we stopped in Saturday night. However, after the horrible meals we were served, it will be our last time to dine there. The food was flavorless and disappointing. The veggies were an undesirable mix of uncooked broccoli, mushy onions and mushy pimento type red pepper. The veal cacciatore was almost non existent, as it consisted of three tiny, thin slices of veal, flavorless marinara and pasta that was so over cooked it was gummy and textureless. The chicken piccata my wife ordered was similarly disappointing. I don't know if the restaurant is under new ownership or what changed since our last visit. In retrospect, we should have recognized something was amiss by the sparse cars in the parking lot and empty tables. Whatever the circumstance, we have had our last meal at Florentina's. read more

Well, I want to update my review from the last time. I don't know what changed, but this is now our go-to Italian restaurant. The service is wonderful, and the dishes are delicious. I've had many on the menu and they are all good. We discovered that they have garlic oil, too, and it is a wonderful accompaniment to the delicious complimentary rolls they provide. I highly recommend you give them a try if you haven't in a while. read more

I had a house salad which was fresh and well, enjoyable for a house salad. We ordered two Stromboli's when we could have ordered one and split it... they were HUGE! Talk about value! If I could give it a ZERO rating I would The service was awful! There were no menus or water for 10 mins. We kept raising our hands for menus glasses etc. and had to had to ask manager as there was no response to any signal. His response was "did someone seat you" and "How long have you been waiting"after 10 minutes. First red flag ! No apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing from the owner /manager ... Other patrons entering later received their wine glasses /bread while we were waiting for wine glasses We were forced to go to the bar to pick up two wine glasses ourselves. Bread finally arrived (initially without cutlery). Pizza was extremely cheesy, not authentic to East Coast or any quality Italian restaurant I've experienced. To the server's credit she did keep coming up to us towards the end to ask if everything was ok. Unfortunately that was too little too late we already knew we were never coming back. If you're looking for a Friday night out to unwind and enjoy this is NOT THE PLACE. My mum and aunt both elderly were visiting from abroad. What a huge disappointment. I'm ashamed I haven't raved about it earlier on Yelp. *face-palm* In a nutshell, it's a small mom-n-pop Italian joint with great food, great service, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and it's BYOB. What's not to like?? My favorite go-to has become an alteration on their chicken piccata, which is already excellent as-is. Florentina's has some regulars, and one them made some changes to this dish that make it stellaaaarrrrr, so ask for "Maria's chicken piccata" and you can thank me later. (Teaser: cooked with jalepenos and finished with a fried slab of eggplant on top. It. Is. Awesome.) Alterations and customizations to dishes are met with a smile and they're super accommodating! The main restaurant mood is very nice - good low-light mood lighting. Good date vibe. Most of the time I think they should turn the TV off because it takes away from the intimate vibe, but I admit once I did watch a little Aggie football with dinner... There's also a separate seating area that extends into the parking lot. It is more brightly lit (via windows and natural sunlight) and has a very different feel - but is good for kids (IMO) and large groups. It's family friendly, but the "main room" of the restaurant's mood and clientele... call for well-behaved kids, IMHO. We've brought ours before and we've seen families with kids there multiple times, but I might discourage bringing kids that would be better off at, say, Chili's or Applebee's, being loud and throwing crayons... ya know? :) Rita is our favorite waitress, and make sure you meet the owner, Florem (I hope I didn't mess up his name!). We ordered the margarita pizza, eggplant parm and chicken parm and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's the best chicken park I've had - the chicken was moist and thin, light crispy breading and very flavorful sauce.
