I walked in and I saw what looked like Matthew mcconaughey working behind the bar. He greeted me "alright alright alright, what are we having?" And from there I fell in love with this brewery. The bartender whose name is actually Brandon is a great dude. The beers tasted like the water fountains in heaven, and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. My boyfriend and I came here for a weekend get away. Flights are available! Choose from five of their brews! This location is fantastic. A taco truck is present there. Aside from that, this brewery has a great selection of beers, and the location is gorgeous. I can see why a lot of people would come here. The hostess was quite helpful and kind, and the service was excellent. The hostess even gave some of her selection beers to try. The outdoor space is excellent for relaxing with friends or even smoking a cigar. They have fantastic merchandises: shirts, hats, can openers, and more! and a cool back terrace for cooler weather. Great beer, great food and great merch - what more could you ask for? Tacos Jalisco has amazing tacos and quesadillas, the Al pastor (pork) is a personal favorite but I don't think you can go wrong. If you're in Islamorada and only have time for 1 brewery .. stop here!! If you're a beer lover. The beer here and the outside tropical patio are the best of Islamorada. There's live music every day, and it's really cool vibes here! For a brewery in the keys, this one has the best beer compared to local competition. (From a fellow Philadelphian beer snob). Good beer in the keys is hard to find. I'm talking about good sours, hazy IPAs, good stouts.. let's just say I get my beer shipped to me from the mainland living local in the Keys because nothing is good enough down here! But.. Came here just for the vibe!! Small indoor area, and large outdoor beer garden, complete with live music, shade (or sun), and picnic tables. Dogs allowed!! They offer several different beers on tap, including sours, ales, and IPAs (highly recommend a flight to try more of them)! Parking is limited in front, but if you're lucky you can snag a spot! Wasn't too packed because we went on a week day. read more

A must stop in while visiting Islamorada or passing through. We arrived early, so we had our pick of seats. Lots of beer on taps at the bar. You can buy merchandise too. They had a taco truck parked next to the tap house, so there is food available. We sat outside on a beautiful February morning. Great beer and scenery. Highly recommended. read more

History

Established in 2012.

Craig and Cheryl founded Florida Keys Brewing Co in 2012. They have been brewing beer and serving it at local events since then. The full production brewery started brewing beer in January 2015. A pilot system currently supplies the tasting room and some distribution while the larger system will be installed in the summer of 2015.

I'd asked the server what Florida lobster dishes they offered and the prices. She said they had two -- lobster bites and a lobster tail. I order the tail with sweet potato fries as my side. When the meal came, I saw that what was delivered was NOT fresh Florida lobster. The manager (?) told me they hadn't pulled the traps yet and didn't have any Florida lobster -- which was strange as it was almost a week into the season and their two ads touted it. Anyhow, he suggested the snapper instead and I chose the coconut yellowtail sandwich from their specials. This was barely edible -- over fried, over cooked, and dried out. I took only a couple bites and coins t even eat the rest. Meanwhile, my husband had ordered the cracked conch appetizer. We've had this all over Florida (he's a native) and in the Carribean. This version was quite different. It had large square pieces of conch in a heavy fried batter. I would not recommend this dish, either.

Florida Keys Brewing Co. was exactly the kind of stop we were hoping for in Islamorada. Laid-back, colorful, easy, and very Keys. The beer was great, the vibe was fun without trying too hard, and it felt like the kind of place where you can just hang out, relax, and pretend you don't have responsibilities waiting for you somewhere north of the Overseas Highway. I had such a great experience at this local brewery. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between laid-back and lively--great music, friendly staff, and plenty of space to relax or catch up with friends. The beer selection is impressive, with something for every taste. Each brew feels thoughtfully crafted, and the bartenders are happy to offer suggestions or samples if you're unsure what to try. I loved that they highlight local ingredients and seasonal flavors--it really sets them apart. I have lived in Islamorada in the keys for 20 years and have been coming to Florida Keys Brewing Company since the first day they opened. It is absolutely my favorite place in the keys. The beer is amazing and I visit breweries everywhere I travel in the US and internationally and there beer is by far one of the best anywhere. There staff are so amazingly friendly as are the owners. The food truck they have is great and the beer garden is so fun and relaxing with great live local music. If you like beer and have not visited please do you can't go wrong. Their beer is better than anywhere else in the keys or Miami by far. You will love it you have my word on it. read more

Another great brewery. Definite must try for anyone in the area that loves craft beer and a great vibe. This place had it all. The atmosphere was so fun. The taco food truck had really good food. I would recommend the nachos. Some of the best I have had. The chips were homemade, thick and never got soggy. My family said the tacos were excellent. The beers were definitely upper level. I am a IPA guy and the death by mermaid was outstanding but I also had a coffee blonde, wild ale and a session and appreciated how each one was crafted. The brewer is very diverse and skilled. Being a craft-brew enthusiast from San Antonio, Tx, when I travel I enjoy finding and visiting local craft breweries. Florida Keys Brewing exceeded my expectations! The ambience, variety of brews, brewer Dallas who also serves as beer tender, and the number of fellow beer drinkers so quickly after opening we're all testimony to the popularity of this local brewery. They had a great variety of merchandise so I was able to add to my tin-tacker collection, but I really recommend this place for all the above reasons. Support your local brewery! read more

THEY HAVE A FOOD TRUCK NOW yum yum!! I'm so glad that the brewery is here-I bring everyone who visits to this place. The beer garden is relaxing with nice ambiance. The beers have a lighter style to them which is great to combat the Florida humidity! The decor is beautiful and the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about their products-Mike, Clain and Alex all kick ass. This is one of our favorite stops when we are in Islamorada.The beer is fresh, local, tasty and they always have something new and interesting on tap to quench your thirst and satisfy your tastebuds. On Sunday Eleanor is behind the bar and there is live music in the garden. We usually have to sit and have one with her before we go outside just because we love her so much! An epic legend and a must stop if you're in the Keys. In a place basically running on Rum it's nice to have a good brewery. This place is unique, among your classic brew shops, in the fact that it shies away from the grunge atmosphere associate with the scene and instead sinks it's teeth into Jimmy Buffet's neck; drinking heavy from that Caribbean stew. read more

Nichole was awesome. For 20 bucks, I got a flight of 5, a pint of my fav(DH's Peppered Hole Pepper Red Ale) and a souvenirs glass! By the way, Florida Keys Brewering is the only family owned brewery that makes all their beer in the Keys. You must check them out when you are vacationing in the Keys! read more
