Stumbled upon this establishment as I was in the area getting my pets vaccines. I live in the humble area and try to venture out when I can. I was craving bbq and figured I would try it out. Has indoor seating andtvs with sports playing The young girl who took our order was nice. I was struggling at first bc I couldn't see other ppls plates and there wasn't a printed menu (visual learner problems) but I knew I wanted brisket and greens. We order two 2meat plates 1. Double brisket greens and potatoe salad 2. Brisket ribs and beans I've been in Texas 6 years and THIS is the BEST brisket & greens I have ever had. I ordered more greens to go--- THAT good I didn't even get a picture bc once I dove in baby it was over. The portions are very good I was able to eat a bit for my lunch and then the rest was used for dinner. I just made a side of Mac n cheese to feed myself and son. Meats are all very tender . Fall off the bone tendernism and all. The ribs to me were ok ( I'm not a pork rib fan) but the rest of family they truly enjoyed. Brisket was everything. Not salty, super juicy and flavorful. The greens have a peppery spice also not too salty and a distinct taste that I couldn't put my finger on. Just delicious! The beans weren't my favorite tho I see many reviews enjoy them so that's preference And the potato salad was well seasoned actually. I'm particular and only eat my aunts potato salad but this was good. Personally I'd scale back on the mustard or vinegar but again.. still very good All in all good food. Food: the food was simply amazing. We all ordered the same thing the three meat plate. The owner Micheal was so nice and he added Chicken in at no charge just so we could try it. So essentially we all got to try the four meat plate. What a nice gesture. The brisket was phenomenal. Each bite was full of flavor and very tasty. Same could be said for the ribs, chicken and sausage. They were all made to perfection. The real winner here again everything was amazing but the sides. I had read about it in the Houston Chronicle and some business on that side of town gave me the opportunity to check it out today. It kind of brought back memories of when I first had barbecue at Thelma's, back in the day. I thought maybe they just had a good day, so I brought another buddy here today (who is pretty discerning when it comes to the art of smoking meats) and he was blown away. I highly recommend this BBQ joint. Anytime you can find a BBQ place tucked away in a strip mall, it is usually good and Flossie's down not disappoint. My wife and I went late for a Family platter and we had a cool conversation with the owner about the name, which happens to be the name of his grandmother who was an excellent cook and restaurateur many years ago. The food was very good. The meats are perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of smoke. The sides were very tasty as well. We drove over to try this BBQ. The chicken and the sausage is pretty good and has a little spice. The ribs are excellent, big and meaty. But come early he runs out of ribs early. I won't say the brisket was the best I've ever had, but I won't say it's not. I'm old so I may have had better and just don't remember it. But it's at least the best I can remember. He has a great sauce, but the brisket is so good you can't decide weither to eat it with the sauce or without. The prices are good considering the size portions you get. We'll go back the next time we want BBQ even though we'll pass by some pretty good pits on our 45 minute dive over there. Great friendly service. read more

I have to warn people. I went on a Tuesday (today 8/22/23) with four of my coworkers. I got a two meat plate ($20 total with a drink, they only offer bottled drinks which are $3) with their only offering of two sides that day, which they apparently put out their worst sides during the week, which was "BBQ" Baked Beans and Potato salad. My meats were ribs and brisket. Let's start with the ribs. They had a taste of something that had been lightly smoked and then thrown on a charcoal grill. They were tender, and they were sizable. The cook chose to leave the rib ends on which was a strange choice. Luckily they were salvageable, by far the best of the worst. Next the brisket. I told my coworkers that it was most similar to a pot roast. There was almost no smoke flavor to my cut of both lean and fatty sides of the brisket. Yes, it was tender, but there was almost NO flavor at all. I was shocked to see a place call itself BBQ, only to be basically Northern style of cooking. The man behind the meat HAD to be from somewhere else, because this was the worst brisket I've had in Texas, hands down. Lastly the sides. Oh boy. What a terrible surprise. The beans were absolutely dumpster fire beans. I think if I hired a homeless man he could've whipped up something better than this place. The beans had a weird Asian flavoring in them, I think it had some sort of strong ginger flavor in them. It was very strange. Nasty aftertaste like rotten cheese. Very watery. There were bits of meat in them, sausage and what appeared to be an attempt at pork belly (failed). The last bite I could take was the potato salad, which I was PRAYING would be a palate cleanser for my tongue. NOT. It was full of onions, way too many. Absolutely inedible and I'm not a picky person. Do not come here. Save your $20 and cook yourself something better at home. I was really hoping this place would be a Pearl but it should just be abandoned. I'm hoping this place can turn itself around. Also, do not expect classic southern cooking. I'm actually glad that there was no cornbread there or biscuits, because they would've been tarnished just by being in proximity of that meal. The FULL LINK was also juicy and flavorful, the ribs where on point not tough or falling apart. They have spare ribs which are the best , everyone offers the St Louis cut now which means they cut the fatty piece on the end off that's full of flavor. Potato salad is really good , beans where ok.
