Updating my review after my second visit to this place. First of all, the service here is great. After mentioning that my food was a bit late and cold, the manager messaged me to extend his apologies! So kind. On my second visit, my food definitely came out very promptly. :) I tried the steak, potatoes, mac & cheese, and broccoli. The mac & cheese was pretty tasty as well as the potatoes; the broccoli and steak were just okay. My husband had the Mother Earth, and that was actually delicious! This is my new favorite place to eat! I went here with two of my friends and we're all very health conscious so looking at how fresh the menu looked was a great sight to see. I ordered a bowl and added chicken to it. The protein is a little expensive ranging from $5-6 but I need my meat. They've got tons of options for vegetarians and vegans too! Not to mention their rainbow walk is a great photo op! Helpful tip: if you wanna come for lunch try to get there before noon to avoid the rush of people. Man... From reading others' reviews, I must be going on "off" days, but I've reliably had some thing go wrong every time--we're talking ateast 8 times-- I've been to this location. One of the sides isn't cooked through... One is missing the sauce or topping... Last time I found a hair in the eggplant... And this time, my take-out order was simply a cup in volume. I measured it! I'll give them credit, each time something came out incorrectly, they were happy to redo the order or make it right... I'm just sick of having to ask for them to correct what they've missed. The concept of this place reminds me of True Food Kitchen except it's fast-causal, you order first and then staff will bring it out to you. The healthy trend with west coast influence has definitely been hitting Dallas since I've been here. I personally thought it was kind of expensive $9 for a bowl and then $4-$7 added for protein and if you would like a drink $3.50-$7. A whole whopping $17-$20 lunch/dinner. We recently went vegan and heard great things about this place. I really wasn't expecting something so cute and hip with such DELICIOUS food and so many good options. I had the pick 3 (spinach, sweet potato and a third I just can't remember bc the spinach was so dang good! It was blanched with some sort of lemon garlic sauce--YUM! I didn't pay attn to what my husband had, but I stole a lot of our son's smashed potatoes (not vegan, worth the cheat!). We WILL be back! Oh yes! Flower Child is a wonderful new addition to the Dallas lunch scene. I always order the chopped vegetable salad with salmon. If I want to splurge, I order a lemonade/tea and my meal comes out to about $20, which is pretty pricey! But in my mind, worth it. The restaurant gets very busy by noon, so my co-workers and I always try to be there right at 11 when it opens. My only complaint is they need to provide nutritional information. This used to be my favorite place to eat as I am gluten free. I ordered catering for my staff and every single one of us got food poisoning!! Over 12 people got extremely sick, and multiple had to go home... I called to let them know and the worker on the phone said "omg.. I got food poisoning yesterday from eating lunch here. This place was absolutely adorable! The complex it's located in has plenty of parking as well. The decor is so cute and earthy, it's a perfect spot for lunch. I came here around 1 and it was PACKED. However, I was able to cut the line because I was making a carry out order (they have a separate register for takeout). So I got my food in less than 10 minutes. Flower Child is good. There is no doubt about that. But today I went in to pick up a to go order and use my gift card I had received, and they said it was declined. I just received this gift card for my birthday gift and was so excited to use it. I had used it previously the week before for a 10$ purchase, and there was 40$ left on it. The girl at the to go side said it was declined and could not help me. How could 40$ on their gift card just disappear when I haven't even used it! Love the food here, but this is a different review. I was the crazy who sat outside (in the shade) in the 95 degrees Texas heat at dinner time. As the only one, it appeared there was a mix up with my favorite--the Mother Earth bowl with chicken. I had to wait a bit longer than normal. So. Good. I had the Mother Earth bowl and it was amazing and so filling. The sweet potato is hands down the best I've ever had. I usually don't like miso vinaigrette but this was insanely good! The ancient grains were very flavorful which I don't think many places can get right. Broccoli pesto could do with a little more salt but it was still a hit. I added tofu to my bowl as an extra and even though its not cooked with any spices, the tofu had a beautiful texture and went very well with the pesto. In my bowl was also a small portion of seasoned cucumber which was delicious ! Overall you wouldn't be concerned that its super healthy because you'll be so focused on the taste. I can't wait to try other items on their menu (esp the roasted butternut squash and cauliflower) and up their ratings. Not to mention, it is the cutest place!! I love it when I can get my husband to try a "healthy" place and he is wowed by how good the food is. I had the Mother Earth bowl with salmon and he had The Rebel wrap with mac-n-cheese as a side. Oh my was the mac-n-cheese good and both of our meals were amazing as well! Food came out fast. Husband also loved the different lemonade flavors that they had. I don't normally care that much about how a restaurant looks on the inside, but they decor here was especially lovely and inviting. I'll drink pretty much anything you set in front of me (apart from Dr. Pepper), but I was a huge fan of their house made lemonades. Cons: - With this being healthy food, I was hungry about 20 minutes after eating. - A touch on the pricey side for me. I know I know, you get what you pay for. So I want to give this place 5 stars because their food is clean/ healthy BUT I was really surprised at how over the top they have behaved in regards to Covid 19. You'd think a healthy restaurant, would be more knowledgeable about staying healthy vs. what main stream media feeds us. I understand they are following ordinances.
