I ordered the curry bowl and tomato toast and my daughter had the lentil soup. They were very good and I enjoyed coming to this restaurant. The decor and atmosphere is really nice here. If you have allergies, be careful! They don't follow directions. I really like the vegan poke bowl but it has sesame seeds in it and I'm allergic (mildly, thank goodness). I always ask for no sesame seeds but they somehow still find their way into my dish. read more

And the Brussel Sprouts were so awesome that I was so focused on their flavors, all that was left was an empty bowl before I realized I hadn't even gotten a photo. LOL! I've been to the orange county and LA locations, the San Diego FC by far is the best. Not only is the restaurant huge with plenty of room , the employees are also very helpful and nice. There seems to be young management there but very organized and on top of their orders. I heard one of the managers discussing a catering order and it intrigued me to ask about catering for our quarterly meetings. I believe it was Kyle who I spoke to, very knowledgeable and gave me all the details on pricing I needed. I will definitely be going back and ordering my office catering from flower child. My girl brought me here because it was her favorite spot in Texas. Now that we have one right down the street from us we had to try it. All I have to say is... AVO TOAST. MY GOD. I know it sounds so bougie to talk about ordering freaking avocado on toast (like, really?) but it's just not the same when you make it at home? Their sesame seed bread with the perfectly cooked eggs on top - not to mention the avocado - is brilliant. Perfect for a morning pick me up. Needless to say the food was delicious but within a couple of hours we started feeling sick and both of us ended up with food poisoning symptoms for the rest of the afternoon/evening, truly an awful situation to be in. We had to cancel our plans for later in the evening! I've ordered the same meal before without any issues but something was definitely bad in today's meal. Hopefully it was just this one batch and wasn't due to poor cleanliness of the kitchen and that this doesn't happen to you too... if this didn't happen I would have only good things to say but now I can never eat here again. Yuuuuum. I stopped in here unexpectedly with my new, health conscious eating in mind. I ordered the chopped vegetable salad with chicken and a glass of Pinot Grigio. The salad came and all the ingredients were fresh and mostly organic. The salad had radishes, edamame sesame seeds and a very flavorful Asian dressing. For dessert, they threw in a lemon cake which came like a muffin. Normally I would not have eaten this, but it was gluten-free and light on sugar (but very tasty).I would have given this place five stars based on the food, but the restaurant was a bit on the messy side. Many tables were not bussed, there was no silverware, and it took quite a long time to get my food. Also, the downstairs sitting area with it's open set up was very noisy. It did not help that there was a barking dog and a crying baby. However overall, because the food was very fresh I will give Flower Child a four star rating. read more

My wife and I made fun of how many pictures were of their drink offerings as we vetted the choice on yelp, but the food looked good so we gave it a try for lunch. It's a minute off of the I-5, so it's extremely convenient when on a trip, which we were. Part of a mall with unnecessarily complicated parking, this restaurant has lots of seating inside and out, sunny and in shade. The food and desserts we ordered were delicious. The service was exceptional. I can't handle milk, but like meat, and my wife is vegan, so we look for healthy vegan foods with meat options, and this place organizes their menu as though you might choose your protein for each dish. I wasn't certain what all the names of the items were in my Forbidden Rice bowl were but I added steak and the whole thing was filling and delicious. My wife ordered the mixed chopped vegetable salad, which she said the same about. Later we shared the very small dark chocolate vegan pudding which was surprisingly decadent. You order at a counter and get a number stand for your table. When the food is ready, servers bring it to you. The time to get our food seemed reasonable, and the atmosphere was peaceful and pretty. Two different servers helped us during our stay way in the back courtyard, and each was pleasant, courteous and helpful. There were courtesy dog bowls, I noticed, which warmed my heart. I used the men's bathroom on my way out and my wife used the womens'. She said, "very pretty, very clean experience," about the bathroom. Mine had only one stall and one urinal, which for a restaurant that seemed to be able to seat 200 people seems too small, but was, I agreed, clean. There were fully stocked paper towels and soap. All-in-all, I felt compelled to review this place, because I need to reward any place that is doing so many things right. And I have to be fair about the drinks. I tried two different iced tea options and they were both very tasty. Even my snakiness couldn't couldn't bring me to take yet another picture of them, though. Enjoy! read more

The food at Flower Child is still really good and we love that it's also always really clean inside but the restaurant is run poorly by a manager with no knowledge of customer service or how to run a restaurant. All restaurants are short staffed these days unfortunately, but a manger is paid more then line staff so you'd expect that they would jump in and help out when the lines are long. Instead this manager with the long blonde hair stands around on her phone and when we asked nicely if she could help out since the line was so long and she didn't look busy, she gave us such attitude explaining that we had to wait longer in line so that the kitchen didn't get overwhelmed with orders. The logic didn't make sense to us but if she'd been nice it would have left a good taste in our mouth, instead we were left with the taste of her bitchy attitude. We're local and eat there a lot, doesn't make us want to come back. There are lots of good healthy restaurants opening up to compete, it's all about the food......and the customer service. read more
