We got the Caesar salad with fried chicken and the ribeye melt. Both items were outstanding. Also, we got the deviled eggs, which are truly signature. We will definitely be coming back for the food, service, and ambience!
Perfect timing walking into Nick's as two bar top seats vacated just prior. We were nicely greeted from the energetic Kennedy. I prefer friendly banter w the service, as it makes bar dining a fun event. The GF ordered the bountiful Cioppino, and I ordered a Caesar, as the hunger bone had not hit. The Cioppino sauce had a nice spice to it, as I had to sample. The Caesar also good. All topped with an old world Pinot Noir to seal the deal. I love Nick's Del Mar as it has the indoor/outdoor seating. Never had an average meal at Nick's (whether Del Mar or Carlsbad).
Busy Saturday. Stopped for drinks and appy's. Tasty food, great drinks prompt and friendly service. Thank You Nick's!
Really great place to come to. Atmosphere is very alive and energetic, service was above and beyond and the food was excellent. All the boxes were checked off exactly the way you expect from a place like this. I did the special for the evening which was the halibut and mash potatoes. Food was phenomenal. Definitely would come back here again
This is a really fancy and nice restaurant that my boyfriend and I stopped by after the fair. The workers were all friendly and attentive. I wish I got a glass of wine because I could see they pour generous glasses but I had to drive back to la after. We ordered the deviled eggs which were absolutely fantastic. Then my boyfriend ordered the fish sandwich and he loved it. I got the chicken sandwich with fries and it was so fresh and delicious. He also got a salad which I loved a lot too. Definitely recommend!
Went in on a Sunday afternoon. It's a cute spot with a nice bar vibe. Seems like a good Sunday brunch spot. The hosts seemed so bothered that we approached. They didn't even stop their conversation. The server was bland but that's no big deal. Ordered the tuna tartare(or whatever other tuna app) and they were out of wonton chips so it was comped. I was slightly disappointed in the limited options on the menu. The food we did order was decent. Nothing so spectacular but not bad. I always thought this spot was hyped up and I don't understand why.
Celebrated my birthday here with some girlfriends. I'd been to Nicks on State and returned for the butter cake, amongst other things. From the apps to mains and dessert, everything was very good to excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chilean sea bass, and the sautéed greens that accompanied it were delicious and the mashed potatoes smooth and well seasoned. The butter cake was on point and wow, the carrot cake was the best I've had since Truluck's. It's a bummer the carrot cake is seasonal, but maybe also a good thing for my waistline! Service was friendly and attentive. The only complaint was a friend's sides were not hot, so she sent those back and replacements were provided. I'll be returning with my hubby on a future date night!
Food here is so delicious! Artichoke dip and the sourdough bread boule are a must get! So cheesy and well made. Drinks are all delicious, espresso martini and Margherita are made perfect!! If you like caramelized onions get the prime rib sandwich, Parmesan crust is to die for! If you want something soft, get the French dip. Butter cake was PERFECT, with a crispy crust and a raspy berry couldade a the cold ice cream melting!! Service was so good, he came back and kept filling waters and checking in. We ordered 4 rounds of drinks too! We sat outside at a large table with a gorgeous heat lamp and it was so pretty and warm and classy. Can dress up or go casual here!

I had two drinks first and an old-fashioned. As always, the drinks and food are amazing here Our bartender rocked! I'm glad we met up here. I need to come back real quick.
Great food and team of servers. Prices are fair...menu selections are OK. Lunch menu is very good. I had the cheese burgers and this is a picture is of the fish sandwich...very good. Appetizers are not that big...the fries with the lunch are not that many. Over all I highly recommend this place.

The fillet was cooked perfectly, and you can substitute the baked potato for mashed potatoes or fries. The warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream is truly a must! It is located at the One Paseo mall, which is a great location to go shopping before or after your meal. Parking can be a bit tricky.
TL;DR All in all, a very disappointing experience and I probably won't be back. If you go, definitely order the Thai salad and warm butter cake. I had high expectations for this dinner and came here with a group from work. The ambiance was okay though we were seated next to a window so it got a bit chilly from the patio even though the window wasn't open. The service was a bit slow, but good enough. We started off with their brussel sprouts which were on special which were undercooked and tough as well as the asparagus fries which were made with the larger stalk-type of asparagus and therefore the bottom 3rd wasn't edible due to the thick woodiness and stringiness texture. For entrees, we had the sea bass, blackened fish sandwich, scottish salmon, and the thai veggie salad with ribeye steak. The steak for my salad was missing and the waitress didn't seem to even know the steak add-on was an option on the menu when the salad arrived so the steak had to be prepared while everyone else had their dishes at the table. This resulted in the rest of the table eating their entrees and then waiting for me to eat once my steak arrived. I only ate a few bites since I felt bad (and didn't want everyone to watch me eat) and took the rest home which was a huge bummer because it was actually delicious when it was fresh and less so as leftovers. The best part of the meal was the warm butter cake dessert which was incredible. We also got their special dessert, pumpkin bread pudding which was just okay.
Dined at Nick's tonight with my husband. We had the best time! We ordered the prime rib dip and bistro plate. Both meals were excellent. The shaved prime rib meat was soft and flavorful. The horseradish sauce and au jus were perfect! My husband really savored the bistro plate. I had a small bite of each item on his plate, and everything was delicious. I also had their non-alcoholic mai tai (it was called something tiki). It was soooo good! Just as good as a real mai tai! I appreciated that they had some good mocktail options on their drink menu. Service was five stars+ with Naomi! She was phenomenal! A true professional and considerate! I would highly recommend Nick's to anyone looking for an upscale casual restaurant that has great food and service.
I'm more blown away by the great service than the food, but even the food was wonderful. Out of all the Nick's locations, this one was by far in the best location in terms of things to do around and accessibility with parking (though it is only 2 hours free). The restaurant was beautiful and extremely clean. The ambience was really inviting and warm. The service was definitely top tier. We ordered a lot, which we started with the asparagus fries and california salad. For entries, we ordered the sea bass, fried chicken, and bistro plate. All of them were super delicious! We really appreciated the portion sizes as well. Out of all the dishes, the sea bass was the best. The fish basically melted in your mouth. Lastly, 100% order the butter cake. It's what Nick's is known for. It comes with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can easily share this with 2-3 people. read more

Came here for the first time and was disappointed unfortunately. Started off with their spicy margarita and their peachy plane. Both were okay. Then we had the deviled eggs. The eggs were deep fried and because of that felt rather drying so these were also just alright. Our entrees included the prime rib sandwich and the pork ribs. The pork ribs and the mash potatoes they came with lacked flavor. Everything was "'meh" with the exception of the soup which was tasty. But the prime rib sandwich was PHENOMENAL. Those were sadly the only two things I'd recommend here. It was very expensive for two entrees and two drinks so given the quality won't be worth another visit for me. Interior is indoor outdoor and cute but there was a lot of leaking from the ceiling when we were there from the AC. Kind of odd that people were seated by those leaks where water was dripping less than a foot away. Service was okay. There's a parking structure nearby that makes parking easy. read more

AMAZING SERVICE! Hubby and I spent our 1 year anniversary dinner at Nick's. The menu is limited but for good reasons. The drinks and food is amazing and meets beyond expectations. Our waitress, Kassidy, did an amazing job greeting us and telling us the highlights of the menu. She even went the extra mile to tell me I had a shopping tab attached to my shirt and she was very discreet in telling me and removing it. Thank you Kassidy! I got the bistro plate. The meat was very well seasoned to my liking. The salad was delicious and never had one like theirs. The tomato soup was flavorful. I thought I would be hungry afterwards but it really filled me up. They also ended the night with giving us a chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you for making this an amazing experience for us! read more

We absolutely love Nick's! We are always able to be seated almost immediately, and the service is always excellent. The only thing that is better than the service is the food. The ambiance a d decor are great. DRINKS: In general, all of the drinks are not my favorite. I tend to prefer sweeter cocktails, and Nick's cocktails are good, but for me, not sweet enough or too tart for me. I still order them but have never craved any particular cocktail. Coco rita - Very good...probably my favorite drink on the menu, but that's not saying a lot because every drink I have had at Nick's has been good but not great/amazing Cucumber Collins - Okay, but I would not get it again Nick's Mai Thai - Also good but not a cocktail I would order again. FOOD: Spicy Thai Salad with chicken & Avocado - Probably my favorite salad ever. You cannot go wrong with this salad, and if you go to Nick's, you MUST get it. Ribeye Melt - This sandwich never misses, and when I was pregnant, I would constantly crave it. It might actually be the best sandwich in the entire world, and I am not even exaggerating. Asparagus Fries - These fries are very good, but without fail, everytime we order them the temperature is far far far too hot. I wish they could fix that. Buttercake - I have tried the buttercake, and to me, the buttercake at Nick's is one of the few things that is unremarkable. It's pretty much just like any other buttercake and is not worth the extra calories. read more
Excellent service from Kevin at the bar tonight! Of note, Dylan was doing excellent at bussing tables and keeping the place in tip-top shape! He even checked on me as I was sitting at the bar, which I appreciated. Light music playing in the background along with open doors on this perfectly cool evening made for a pleasant environment. Food was excellent. I ordered a filet mignon with a kale and quinoa salad, absolutely yummy! I've found one of my new favorite places to stop for dinner in the San Diego area, I'll be back! read more

Nick's Del Mar is my preferred Nick's even over their OG spot in Laguna. It's tucked away in Del Mar at One Paseo already making it easier to park and snag a quick table. First time here- Ryan, our server and Angelia, manager, was amazing and attentive. Food was tasty- had the filet mignon- it was like buttahh. Had the GINORMOUS slice of carrot cake which was easily cut into 4 normal Size serving- It was light, delicate, and not to sweet. It was perfect. Will come again!! read more

Nicks is nestled in one Paseo in Del Mar and they never disappoint. Always hard to get in for dinner as there is always a long wait or no tables available without a reservation. The prime rib sandwich is excellent as is most of their menu. The only thing that was off the night I was there was the service. Server seemed to disappear for stretches at a time and at the end went completely awol. Had to flag sown someone else in order to pay the bill and leave. Other than that I highly recommend Nicks. read more

Haven't been here in a while. Went pre La Jolla Playhouse play. Seating was prompt. Place was upscale and lively. Service very good. We ordered a spinach dip app and sourdough bread round loaf. Tasty! Main dishes, Cioppino, fried chicken, blackened fish sand and veggie burger. Plus pound cake berry and coffee inc cream dessert. All very good. Chicken was touted the most. Recommend read more
Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and honestly really enjoyed it. I am from San Diego but live in Los Angeles now and this place really reminds me a lot of Honor Bar and Hillstone. It's a really high-end traditional American cuisine in a really bright and open space. The menu has a lot of great options on it and our server was very polite. It's inside a shopping center and there is a multi story free parking garage attached. For my dinner, I chose the Classic Ribeye Melt and thought it was fantastic. The Parmesan crusted bread was one of the selling points for me and I thought it was honestly really good. All of their drinks were great and I already want to come back again soon to try more items. My first time to this location but not my first time to Nick's restaurants at other locations. All Nick's locations serve solidly good food with good sized portions enough for leftovers. This location has two Nick's restaurants one is on South and the other Del Mar I mistakenly went to wrong one the host corrected me and directed me there. Both restaurants are popular and booked solid with long wait times 1.5-2 hours so reservations are recommended. Our waiter welcomed us, he promptly took our drink order and asked our party of four if we're celebrating anything, we're celebrating 40 years of friendship. The fried asparagus is perfectly plump and lightly coated with a side of ranch sauce and deviled eggs I asked for the bacon crumbles served on the side are solidly good appetizers. The cioppino broth has a nice flavor and not too thick more soupy is served with a round sourdough bread loaf. Chicken piccata is served with two large fillets and side of mashed potatoes and salad. Petite filet steak is cooked perfectly tender is served with side of salad and soup of the day a creamy French onion soup - this is one of the smaller sized entree item no leftovers while my other friends all had to take home leftovers. After dinner while clearing our table our waiter asked if we wanted to order desserts we opted not to. He casually placed down some spoons on our table then he comes back to surprise us with a small round chocolate cake on the house as celebration of our friendship. That is so nice of him! I'm sorry that I fail to remember his name but thank you for providing us with exceptional service. No wonder this place is packed good solid food, great service and good sized portions. read more

Stopped by Nicks for a quick lunch with a friend and ordered their Bistro plate for $29 that consisted of a petite filet mignon, topped with steak butter served on garlic toast, petite bistro salad, and a cup of soup that was spicy lentil and vegetable. The service is top notch as always and the steak was cooked perfectly and just the right size for a lunch. The soup was also delicious, could have come out a bit warmer but I won't dock any points for that. The lentils were cooked to the right consistency and the spice in the soup just elevated everything. Have been coming here for years but never took the time to write a review till today. Will definitely be coming back again for the Thai salad next time. read more
Really enjoyed our dinner. Great indoor /outdoor ambiance and decor. The servers we encountered were nice and bubbly. The food mightve been our best meal while visiting the area for the week. My husband had the porkchop, while I opted for the baby back ribe. BOTH were delicious! For dessert I had the butter cake, which definitely rivaled that of one of my favorite restaurants Maestro's, so yes it was delicious! We also did happy hour and apps at South of Nick's and everything was great there as well. Next time im in the area I'll definitely be back! read more

This place is amazing! Possibly my favorite San Diego date night spot at this point. When we'd come here previously, I had the French onion soup (to die for), and the chicken piccata which was good but didn't blow my mind. This time I tried the bistro plate instead and it was absolutely the right choice. The portion size was perfect to leave room for dessert, and the variety was perfect: mini filet mignon served over arugula + garlic toast, a really delicious mixed salad, and a cup of the soup of the day (I came on Saturday in hopes it would be the French onion soup again - and it was! Yay!). My partner had the ribs (not his first time), and loveddd them as always. They are an honestly huge portion size, so you may end up taking some home, but I expect he'll be asking to come back for more soon, haha. They also came with salad and mashed potatoes, all of which he said was really delicious. The butter cake is insane. My partner described it as top 5 desserts he's ever had (and we both have sweet teeth). The texture was just perfect - a nice caramelized outside with a chew to it, gooey but not too dense inside, and paired with the vanilla ice cream and the tartness of the berries...divine. Also, the service is genuinely A+. I believe our server's name was Natalia - she was constantly by to refill our waters and take care of us. Definitely a really great experience!! So I'll definitely be coming back and probably ordering the exact same things in the future. It's so good - we're already planning on returning and hopefully bringing family here! read more

Absolutely amazing. From the old fashioned, to the sea bass, to the banana cream pie, everything was a delight. Old fashioned was expertly made and came from the recommendation of our waiter. The sea bass was very simple and not too seasoned, which I definitely liked, let the fish shine through. Good spot, consistent food, attentive service in a nice location. We sat outside on a Sunday and able to get easy 1:30 reservations. We shared fries and asparagus fries with several dipping sauces. I ordered a fish sandwich with their squash vegetable side. Paired it with a glass of white wine that the server recommended and gave me a small tasting before pouring the entire glass. Later I did a flat rose. My friends ordered salad. The desserts looked great but we passed. I also got a French dip to go. Nicks is a good go to with food and a variety you can trust. It's always been on point and hasn't let me down. read more

I don't believe so as I was there for dinner arriving around 4 pm at the end of February and the menu posted on their website is the most current one which I remember seeing.
What is the parking situation (availability, pricing) on weekdays during the day?
The One Paseo parking garage closest to Nick's is free all the time. The other One Paseo garage is only free on weekends
Is there a kids menu?
No they do not but they will accommodate your kiddos. Great burgers and chicken sandwiches 🤩
