When it was our turn to order at the counter, the staff members asked us to wait for a little bit for some tables to open up, which I didn't mind! I wish I could try the whole menu! I ended up getting the Mother Earth bowl with no mushrooms. While I personally don't have any food allergies, I appreciate how they asked if my "no mushrooms" was due to an allergy or preference. My bowl came with ancient grains, sweet potato, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, and hemp seed. The big windows let in a lot of light giving Flower Child a bright aura. The staff are always really nice. The food is brought to the table rather quickly. I also love their hummus, both the regular and the avocado hummus. It has a freshly made taste. The soft warm pita that comes with the hummus is very thin, which my wife likes due to them having fewer carbs. My wife always get a pasta plate she likes, as a carry out. My daughter and I went here to grab dinner. There was a small group inside eating, several people waiting for curbside pickup and several people either ordering take out or picking up online orders. We figured this must be the spot! Upon entering they have a water station with infused water to stay hydrated. After several minutes we finally narrowed down our selections. Flower Child is located in the old Panera Bread location by the Frontenac mall. I love the mural painted on the front of the building! The inside of the restaurant is like an upscale cafe and they have a beautiful patio with umbrellas and nice plants. We ordered our food to go. We got the mother earth bowl with salmon and the chicken yakisoba noodles. Both menu items were very impressive - healthy food that has been seasoned well and tastes really good! That is not an easy thing to do. I loved the ancient grains, sweet potatoes, and portabella mushrooms on the mother earth bowl. I've never had such plump and soft grains. The sweet potatoes had a nice chargrilled flavor on them. The mushrooms were huge and cooked perfectly. My only slight critique was the salmon was cooked well done and was quite dry. It could've used some more seasoning as well. It tasted quite a bit better when paired with the broccoli pesto, but next time, I think I'll choose a different protein. The highlight on the yakisoba noodles was the chicken thighs. They were so moist and cooked perfectly! We also tried the chocolate chip cashew cookie and lemon olive oil cake for dessert. My husband loved the cookie, but I did not. It was super crunchy and kinda dry. It also had a very strong coconut taste - the name of the cookie really should include coconut in the title because it was that strong. I'm not a huge fan of coconut. It had more coconut flavor than chocolate. The lemon olive oil cake was excellent! The cake was ridiculously moist, the perfect amount of lemon flavor, and very sweet (in a good way). read more

If you want some delicious healthy food, this is the place to go. Fast, friendly and good. I would recommend reviewing the menu ahead of time. I mean kale can come out in many forms!! lol I chose to let the counter person help me. I said I love salmon, kale and sweet potatoes. We decided the meal (rather than a bowl or salad) was the way to go. The only problem with that is it doesn't mean they always all go together taste wise. It's a chance you take so I had a very light lemony kale side salad, a very Asian inspired, sweet potato chunks and plain salmon. Would you normally have all those together maybe not but it worked . I tried their sangria which was light and refreshing. They were quick to bring out our food if there's several of you dining together, but paying separately at the counter, make sure you let them know so you all have the same table number once you order and pay grab your silverware drinks And napkins, and find a seat I was thrown off because there was a bunch of people waiting, but there were a lot of open tables it's a hotspot to get food to go so people are waiting for their orders. The restaurant is clean pretty and they clear the tables quickly. Little on the pricey side, but I love that I can customize and get what I want and I know that I'm eating healthy food. Simply add an option for 'tossed' or 'not tossed' for your salads on the online ordering. I am certain that others also found the salads not as good as when eaten in.
