Tofu with kale salad and Roasted Sweet Potato Fries
Zee C.

Gorgeous place outside and in! Employees were friendly and helpful. I had mixed feelings about the food. It was different from what I expected. The sweet potatoes fried came out lukewarm and kind of soggy. The kale salad was chewy and one-note, heavily coated in dressing. The glow bowl was fine--sweet potato noodles were noodles made of potatoes rather than made with them (like pasta) and nice and crunchy. Some of the chicken was dry.

I had a really nice visit to Flower Child! I got the Bang Bang Beef (limited-time dish) and the chicken enchiladas. I will say, the price was a little on the higher end, but the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. One dish came out a bit faster than the other, but they were super sweet about it. The Bang Bang Beef was definitely the crowd favorite, and it's easy to see why. The interior was beautiful, and the patio was perfect for a sunny day which is great for a quick lunch with friends or family if you're in the Frontenac area. Overall, a solid spot!

Chopped vegetable salad with steak and a side of steamed brown rice

First let me call out the team at Flower Child for their continued awesome level of service. I have a delightful experience every time I come by and I'm in there almost every week at some point for lunch or dinner. Food quality is always on point too. Fresh vegetables and greens in the salads. Perfectly cooked proteins. I'd recommend the salmon or steak on the chopped vegetable salad any time. Can't miss healthy and flavorful eats and good service in a clean establishment. Gotta love it!! Enjoy!!!

Get the macaroni and cheese. You order first, then they set you up with a table. Came here for a working lunch, unfortunately it was a bit loud for the work we wanted to do, due to its fantastic location, the library is right across the street. I am trying to increase protein in my diet and even though the menu took me a second to figure out, it is set up very well. You pick a protein, then pick the 2 sides you want with it. I was feeling cheesy, so I got the Mac and cheese and the cauliflower risotto. Strange combination, but I'm glad I got to try them. If I was still doing keto/low carb I would have loved the risotto, but next to the mac and cheese, M&C was the best. So creamy, great flavor, it is gluten free, but there were some delightful crumbles on top. The salmon was cooked to perfection, I definitely look forward to getting salmon here again. Service, was minimal, but also very good. Since you pay and order at the front, it was a delight that they also checked on us when we were eating.

Wow, it's like an addiction at this point.. I can't stay away. My go to is the steak entree with the smashed gold potato and sweet corn & quinoa. Occasionally, I'll get the chicken entree with the same sides. Or their famous avocado Caesar - this dressing is to die for! I've tried the kung POW cauliflower, gluten free Mac and cheese, red chili glazed sweet potato, roasted broccoli, and sweet potato fries (get extra of their house made yogurt ranch)! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any decision you make here. I'll forever be a proud regular at Flower Child.

I love this spot and come here often with friends. I would describe this place as a perfect spot for lunch or dinner with the girls. Cute decor and a health consideration menu that feels indulgent while hitting all of your macro goals! You order your meal at the register, take a number, and find your seat. Then, one of the friendly workers will bring you your meal. Drinks (excluding alcohol) are self-service, as are utensils. The menu focuses on whole foods and had plenty of vegan and gluten-free offerings (important to my friends!) I usually get the shrimp bowl with cauliflower risotto and chili glazed sweet potato but I have also tried their glow bowl (pictured) and their ginger miso salad, both of which I enjoyed. This place isn't cheap, but I feel the value is appropriate when you factor in health and ambiance. Could you make it cheaper yourself? Sure. But would you?

The food was great. I had the Mother Earth Bowl with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries came with a rich yogurt dipping sauce that was delicious. The bowl contained ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, and hemp seed. It was really good. I loved all the flowers and decor inside. I especially liked the tables and chairs. The service was great as well. My fries were lukewarm and I asked for warm fries and the server/runner gladly replaced them with hot fries.

Flower child is an elevated but fast casual restaurant that offers a variety of healthy but tasty food options. This restaurant is conveniently located next to the Frontenac mall/lifetime fitness. The service is counter service and then the staff bring out the food to you. They offer a variety of salads, bowls, wraps, and entrees. I ordered the chicken Yaki soba with tofu on top and a side of gluten free Mac and cheese. The sauce on both dishes was tasty but I did need to add extra salt to the tofu/Yaki soba noodles. Overall I enjoyed the meal. I do think it is a bit pricy but I would come back if I were looking for a healthy option and am in a pinch.

Pineapple Orange Guava sangria

I've heard great things about this place and decided to check it out. I came around 12 for lunch and it wasn't overly crowded but steady. The staff is so nice and friendly and could tell we were new. I wanted to try their lemonade but once I saw the sangria, i had to give it a try. They give you a number and you seat yourself. The tables are close to each other but still a cool environment for lunch. Since this was our first time coming, I didn't know you could grab your napkins and utensils by the drink station but the staff grabbed these items for me after handing me my food. The avocado caesar salad with chicken added was really good. I enjoyed the avocado dressing that came with it. I can't recall what my friend ordered but she said it was really good too. Maybe a little salty but still really good and she would order again. The sangria was really refreshing and so tasty. So many other menu options I would like to try which means I'll return for more.

Mediterranean Chicken Kabob Glow Bowl with Salmon
Kalin K.

I was a little intimidated by this spot because of my food allergies being all over the menu, but they more than exceeded my expectations! Both people at the register were diligent to note my allergies on my order and provide me an allergen menu. My friend had the chicken Mediterranean bowl and said it perfectly balanced all of the flavors. I had the glow bowl with salmon which also knocked it out of the park. Fresh, clean ingredients to nourish you all in the cutest spot. Next time you're around here, stop in!

I asked for no cucumber, but there were a lot of cucumbers in my salad. I have an allergy to cucumber, so I had to throw the salad away. I tried to call, but the store was already closed. I'm very disappointed.

I've had this place on my list for a while and my colleagues couldn't have picked a better day to come! We got there a little after 11 (which I was glad) and although there was a small line, it moved rather quickly. There were so many things I wanted to try but I finally decided on the Avocado Caesar with shrimp as a protein and a side of sweet potato fries. After ordering, they handed me a table number (open seating and there's plenty to choose from. Our food arrived after what seemed like mere minutes! I wasn't sure how big the portions would be but they were plentiful! The salad exceeded my expectations but the show winner was the dressing! It's not heavy and leaves a nice taste in your mouth. I'd describe it as a little tangy and would put the regular Caesar dressing to shame! The fries were pretty good but I wished they were as crispy as the other ones I saw. Overall, the food was well-seasoned and the portions were on point. I love the healthy concept and how friendly everyone was. I can't want to come back and try more dishes.

I would have asked for more but the waitress never came back to check on us after the food came. Coffee was okay, but I wasn't offered a refill until we were done with our meal and getting our checks. $3.50 for 1 cup of black coffee is a bit much. When we got our check, we had to wait a while for the waitress to come back to split it for us, I always find it strange when they don't ask. Overall not a great or awful experience but I have def had better.

Today was a quick in and out but thought anyone reading this might enjoy these words.... I tried the Morning Salad (mixed greens, grilled avocado, tomatoes and 2 scrambled eggs) and the Crispy Potatoes (crispy bacon and cheese). Wow....a most excellent combination if there ever was one. Don't ever sleep on Ivy's drink game. Their food is ridiculously good, but their drink menu is right up there. The Hyde is somewhat of an Ivy Margarita inspiration and YOU need to try it. The seating host and servers we met during this experience were very nice. I ordered the mushroom coffee: forest & meadow mushroom medicinal powder, served with a shot of espresso. I received a large, hot mug of beverage with artistic crema decor. Could not discern mushroom flavor save the grit at the bottom of the cup, but I can now say I've tried it. My eggs and salad dish came out next, along with an order of their toasted sourdough bread, butter and jam I ordered (their specialty). Unfortunately, the toast was cold, as was the liquidy fruit jam. Butter was ice cold out of the frig too since it has been forgotten and needed to be retrieved. The small green salad was fresh and tasty, but the two scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery. It was hard to know who was out server because aside from the seating hostess, four more people arrived, one after the other, at varying times to get the meal and forgotten items to our small party of three. I was left feeling that more training and organized timing of meals is needed at this establishment.

I got the mini roasty toasty with no ricotta and no onions, the Caesar salad with no onions, and the mini s'mores. Usually they're pretty thorough but today, not so much. I got it to-go and did a brief glance over before I got home. Once I got home and bit into the first bite of my calzone, I tasted the two things I specifically asked NOT to have: ricotta and onions. I decided to peel back because I thought maybe it was a one-off, but the whole calzone was covered in it. At that point, I double checked and the receipt says my modifications and even the sticker on the box had it. I'm not sure how or why the directions weren't followed but it's dares me to ask, why allow modifications in the first place if they're not going to be followed? The dessert on the other hand was a bit much. So much so that I could taste the sugar with each bite and for someone that has a sweet tooth, that's where I draw the line. It's incredibly rich, almost too rich and I decided to pass. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. I'll probably hold off on going back for a while.

I noticed they had more than smoothies, and my eyes immediately went to the juice case. They have quite the selection of pressed juices, shots, protein balls, and other things. After scanning the menu, I got the peanut butter and banana toast, nirvana pressed juice, and birthday cake protein balls. She asked if I was a member of Orange Theory and I said, "no." They have a special partnership with them that I think includes a certain percentage off, so maybe I should become a member! I drank the juice first and tried one of the protein balls while I was waiting on my toast. The juice was refreshing and on the sweeter side, which is what I wanted. The protein ball was good, but the after taste was a little odd. Perhaps it was the flavor? It was recommended by person working. Although I'm not writing it off entirely, I may have better luck with the other flavors (cookie dough, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and red velvet). It didn't take long before my toast was ready and I was on my way. I managed to sneak a few bites in before I made it home and they more than exceeded my expectations. For the record, any place that uses Union Loafers bread can do no wrong in my book. The toast was quite savory and I def enjoyed it more with each bite. Fyi, they lay the pb on pretty thick, so make sure you chew thoroughly! All in all, a solid protein packed meal all around. I hate that I got full after one piece, so let's hope I can finish the other piece later!

After you deal with the parking, which can be a bit inconvenient as it's in a crowded intersection and parking lot - though I noticed neon banana has a few dedicated parking spots for 5 minute parking which helps! - you find the cute little locally-owned shop amongst the strip mall. What I first noticed & loved was the vibe and concept of the shop! The literal bananas around are fun & def has a mildly-funky-but-still-upscale vibe. I knew to expect juices and smoothies but was pleasantly surprised to find a few other food items like bread, broth, protein balls, overnight oats, and more. I tend to be basic with my tastes so I was hesitant to try some of their smoothies with elaborate ingredients. I chatted with the friendly cashier/smoothie extraordinaire & I said I was leaning towards the regular strawberry but wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone, but not too far out. She recommended the neon banana (COCONUT WATER, ORANGE JUICE, BANANA, PINEAPPLE, MANGO, BLUE MAJIK (BLUE SPIRULINA/COCONUT WATER). I'm so glad I tried - it's delicious! They're also willing to customize. When I mentioned I don't love coconut, she said she could take out the coconut water. The blue spirulina wasn't my fave but the flavor & the rest of the smoothie was amaze, would def get again. The cons: It is pricey, this particular 16oz smoothie being $10.95. Also, the hours are somewhat limited, closing most days at 4:30. However - I don't know of too many locally owned smoothie cafes so I think the juice is worth the squeeze on this one ;) I could see myself coming back for a late morning or early afternoon snack, for sure getting the neon banana again or trying some of the other flavors. I'd probably avoid busy times of day like lunch or commute times. It would probably be a once in awhile splurge place, but would love to make it back again!
