Flower Child is still in its infancy at STL, but the team there certainly has their working process down. Very efficient process to place your order, grab your table & receive your meal. Gotta love the efficiency! They have pretty decor and a variety of seating options (although many seats are that sturdy wicker material). For dinner I ordered their queso (solidly good) for a shareapple table app & for my entree I had their shrimp, sweet potatoes & sticky Thai watermelon. I wasn't super impressed with the shrimp, but the sweet potatoes and watermelon was absolutely delicious. I will say the watermelon didn't have Thai flavor to me, more salty than anything. I don't expect to come for a return visit very soon, but would anticipate returning--especially to try more sides & possibly a dessert next time around. So thrilled to have this new casual and quick healthy option close to home. The renovated space is urban and fresh. During friends and family opening, there was a lot of excitement and welcoming staff. I had the Glow Bowl with chicken. The noodles were al dente and the chicken nice and tender. The sauce was flavorful with a slight kick. I enjoyed this and would get again! I also tried the gluten free chocolate chip cookie. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Went here for lunch with a friend. The space is super cute and has a nice outdoor area. The menu felt a little overwhelming as I wanted to try everything. I ordered the Mother Earth bowl and added chicken. I also ordered an iced tea. Food was good and they had a large selection of iced tea. Service was good. We arrived at the restaurant with a little bit of a weight, but the line moved quickly, and we were quickly seated. It was a full house with lots of new customers. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and the Italian Chopped salad with chicken. While they accidentally rang up the wrong order, Zena was great and let us keep the chopped vegetable salad as we waited on the chicken enchiladas. Everything was super fresh! The chicken enchiladas was one of the best things I've ever eaten! So fresh, so good. Zena was so sweet and friendly and made up for the order mistake with a cookie and lemon olive oil muffin. Definitely cutting them a break as they were slammed busy but the food came out so fast. This location has ample parking and will do really well if the quality and speed keeps up. The food is certainly overrated and most definitely overpriced. I think they get away with overcharging because of their location. The portions are small plate sizing and the food is pretty underwhelming. When ordering take out, it's always late and when ordering in, it takes way longer than usual. I get it, they're busy and there's nothing fast casual around that area. ((The star rating is more about the food and flavor than the timing of the meals)). It's pretty crowded there and the vibe is pretty affluent and white. They say the ingredients are locally sourced but like from where, ya know? I picked up a Curbside Order at Flower Child. I ordered on the app. I ordered a Ginger Miso Crunch Salad (carrot zoodles, zucchini, red pepper, cabbage, mint, cashew, sesame seed, Asian dressing) and I added salmon, an extra cup of vinaigrette, pita bread and a chocolate chip cookie. The order was ready when I got there and it was brought out quickly. I was looking forward to this meal. When I got home I noticed the amount of salad and the portion of salmon were both quite small. On closer inspection my salad was missing the zucchini, red pepper, mint, and cashew. That's 4 out of 8 ingredients...bummer! I tossed the salad and thank goodness I sprang for the extra 50¢ worth of vinaigrette. I would have been sad had I not because 1 cup wouldn't have come close to covering the salad. The vinaigrette was very tasty but the salad was sad and the salmon was drier than a desert. It was clearly precooked, then chilled. The "pita bread" tasted like a store bought tortilla. The cookie was fine. Healthy or not this was a sad and disappointing meal. From a clearly neutral position why bother going through the motions of having someone sign off on the order if they don't look at it? read more

A very welcome addition to the area ! Just the name Flower Child invokes images of fresh, healthy, clean, intimate pairings. The name does not disappoint! This newly opened restaurant in Frontenac Plaza greet you with fresh fruit infused water as you enter. Once inside, you may have to wait in a small line. When I was there this Saturday evening I probably had to wait 15 minutes, but as time went by there were more and more people lining up outside the door. I would recommend downloading the app and ordering your food online! Once at the counter, I inquired about their seasonal sangrias, and I was given a sample of each, which was really nice. I opted for the strawberry banana, but the spiced pear was equally good... It was a tossup, but in the end, the strawberry banana was slightly sweeter, which is what I was looking for with my meal. Having a beef and pork allergy, they were most helpful in going over everything with me and the nice thing is that being that they pride themselves on unhealthy eating, I felt very comfortable ordering. I opted for the black bean falafel and the sweet potato with bok choy. I want them to sweet potato fries originally, but they had just sold out. I was not disappointed with my choices at all, though. The sweet potatoes were incredible and the falafel was made to perfection. One of my friends ordered the Mediterranean chicken kebab. it had the freshest of fresh ingredients in it... Delicious. My other friend ordered Chicken Yakisoba Noodle! She also enjoyed her meal. I don't know how crowded it will be on the weekdays being a new restaurant, but it can't hurt to download the app. Once you are there, they will give you a number to put on your table and when your food is ready, they will bring it right to you. It is very nice inside and very casual so you can bring the whole family. Aside from being quite loud there is not one thing I would change from my first visit here. First trip last week. Didn't know menu and since you get in line to order at counter felt pressured as didn't want to inconvenience others waiting. One of us ordered salmon dinner. Found it to be bland and somewhat dry. Another ordered salmon and thought it was just okay. I ordered chicken enchiladas and thought it was good. Ordered sweet potato fries 3 times for side and they were good but not excellent. Off brand drinks, again okay. i accept some of our just okay experience because of not being more prepared in terms of menu. It deserves another try with us doing our homework menu wise. read more

The good: - the flavors were great on everything - the people were nice The bad: - the cost to portion ratio is out of whack (giant to go bowl less than half-filled for $18, a small bag of thin fries 2/3 filled for $6) - the wraps are open ended with shredded/diced veggies and turkey (food fell out expectedly) - the fries were mostly overcooked - might be the worst sweet potato fries I've had for that reason alone Good personalities and good flavors are a justifiable reason to give three stars, but there are better places in and around St. Louis with greater offerings and quality control. This was the low end of average that seems to get a premium because it sits next to Plaza Frontenac. read more

They didn't bring it to the car, and we had to go inside, which was complete chaos. The staff inside were useless, with boxes and plates ready to go but moving at a sloth-like pace and in complete confusion. While the cooks were kicking out the food quickly, no one else matched their pace. We got home and, of course, were missing multiple items. Incorrect order aside, the food was mediocre - just a notch above BreadCo or Chipotle. The fact that a place like this draws a crowd demonstrates how starved St. Louis is for anything new, which is embarrassing for the region. Welp...had a taco salad. This thing was as dry and tasteless as any salad I've ever been served. There was nothing enjoyable about the salad with the exception of the 4 or 5 avocado bites. I am not a fan of wasting food but could also not bear to eat the roughage with some beans and mystery chorizo...no tomatoes and no dressing were on the salad. I did have the lemon and olive oil cupcake, that was delicious! The pick up order with 8 drinks had no way to transport them other than 4 people each holding two drinks. Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 2/5 Second time arriving with friends, and the location and setting is beautiful! The flowerpots, wooden tables, and nature theme gave it a very homely vibe. Service was also amazing, the waitresses and cashier were all super kind and outgoing. However, the food was a little disappointing. Here were our orders: Sweet potato fries ($6) - 3/5 - very small portion, overpriced. It was not too bad, but my friend said it had a sour aftertaste somehow, despite being sweet potato fries. Avocado toast ($8) - 1/5 - NOT WORTH $8. Simply a piece of thin whole wheat bread from Aldi's with a spread of avocado and 1 egg cut on top with some lemon. There was no tomatoes, goat cheese, spinach, sauces etc. They charged $8 for a piece of toast and avocado and egg on it! Chicken yakisoba ($15) - 3/5 - A bit too salty, especially at the bottom. Chicken was grilled well, however as we reached the bottom, the oil at the bottom saturated all the noodles. For a restaurant that markets itself as healthy, there was quite a lot of oil and salt in this dish. There is also a lack of consistency, because the day we went before, there were a lot more snap peas and less oil. Chicken kabob ($15) - 6/5 - Saving Grace for this restaurant for me! The deconstructed chicken kabob was delicious. The chicken was seasoned perfectly right and the tomatoes and cucumbers in the quinoa hot my tongue just right. THIS DISH is probably the only reason I'll return, highly recommend. Overall: a bit overpriced, and food can be iffy. Service and location are great. Order any dishes just to try it out, EXCEPT the Avocado Toast. Unless they load that stuff up, don't pay $8 for just an egg and squeeze of lemon. read more
