seitan duck (the seitan and masa cake are perfek) House made faux duck served with mole poblano and handmade masa cake. Vegan.
    Bracken K.

This place is great, from the vegan food to the atmosphere/ambience, there's nothing not to like. I love the vegan menu and that, on top of that, they have a "specials" menu with vegan selections! The service was, no surprise, also great. My spouse and I had a great time and can't wait to return. We started with the kabocha squash tempura- a special. I had the seitan duck, also a special, and the spouse had the sweet corn and summer squash risotto, surprise, surprise, also a special. It was all good, the risotto was excellent. The duck was prepared with a mole poblano that was a very north of Mexico style preparation, it was still good but I'm not sure I would have identified it as a mole poblano had it not been listed on the menu. It was served with handmade masa cake that was incredible. The seitan was great- great texture, not too dry or gummy, it was kind of perfect. I'd order it again but not for the mole. One would be well advised to go here and eat delicious vegan food. Go often, order many things!

This was decent. Finding vegan restaurants that have good flavor can be hard, but this place was not bad. The service was a bit slow (it took them a while to even come and seat us). I tried their Brussel salad (pretty yummy, crispy, warm), and had the seitan "duck" special. The seitan was a bit rubbery but the flavor of the mole sauce was good. Additionally, the masa cake was a fun texture, and the apples added a bit of crunch that I enjoyed. The best thing at our table, however, was the pasta dish that my friend got. I believe it was the pasta Florentine, which she chose to have dairy cheese on instead of vegan. It was flavorful, hearty, and delicious. The portion of sausage on it could have been larger, though.

I made reservations for dinner date with my husband for 7p on a Thursday evening. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by our server who was very friendly and told us we could seat ourselves anywhere we wanted, even offering to clean the recently vacated table by the window. There was a QR code in the table to view the menu. Our server came by with waters and told us about the specials. We decided on the hush puppies, krab rangoon and the fried beets, to start. OMG...the fried beets were absolutely amazing!! The krab rangoon were really good, as well and the dipping sauce was a great addition. I'm not a huge fan of hush puppies, so I can't really say a lot about them. They were okay. After our starters, we decided to share a big plate of wild mushroom stuffed ravioli. It was good, but the sauce was very rich so sharing was the right way to go. The ambiance was good, service was great and the food was delicious. Being new to the Vegan scene, I was very pleasantly surprised with the elevated dishes. A note to non-vegans, you are not going to get food that tastes just like non-vegan versions...it's a culinary twist that offers new and interesting flavors. As a huge foodie, I am able to appreciate the flavor profiles and the artistry In recreating the dishes to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions. Bravo, Tree House!

From the moment we arrived for dinner, we felt welcomed by the congenial host, Jackson. We enjoyed the na beer offering and dined alfresco on their patio in front. It was relaxing and our server Claire tended well to our needs. We ate light but so enjoyed the mushroom special with polenta. Beautifully presented and delish from first to last bite. It made me smile to see the indoor tables filled on a Wednesday nite. The place lit up in applause when Jackson regaled a diner with an operatic version of the happy birthday song. NB: my omnivorous mate loved the food too!

The food is great. Everyone in my party loved their food. But at least mine felt there was something missing. In my case with the Wild Mushroom Ravioli it was the that the Brussel Sprouts needed a bit more roasting, but for sure some salt in it. The cause as well could have had some (or if it did stronger) ingredient to counteract thr cashew cheese I believe. Service was great plus they came and told us their was a full rainbow outside and offered to take pictures of us. The reason why it drops from 5 to 4 isn't about the food. You have to view the menu via a QR code, which doesn't even take you to the menu to but homepage of their site. While other say you have to order through it the waiter took our order. But if your making people go online, put a picture of the plate. Finally, they don't accept Amex. Yes they charge more in interests. But that's part of doing business. I would come back here without a doubt if I lived here.

First time here. I loved the plantain's! The fried vegan chicken sandwich was really good. My meat eating boyfriend liked it. The vegan Cuban was okay. The potatoes and salad were good sides. The service was great. When we were there, a couple came in not knowing it's a vegan restaurant. The server was very friendly and patient explaining the menu and providing recommendations. After this visit. I returned a few weeks later and got the chicken sandwich to go! I do want to come back to try more of the menu.

Wouldn't even know where to begin with the mouth watering awesomeness served up here at tree house! Service was top tier , wonderful staff . We sat outdoors and what a vibe that was. Cutest shops and some incredible food line up the streets . Everything is vegan unless requested vegetarian, loved that . The menu is always changing so you never know what you'll get . The vegan cinnamon roll & NA drinks were divine and the food is delicious. Great experience.

Yum! I stopped by this place after looking at the menu online. It's a nice size and very cute inside. On the tables they have the QR code to scan the menu. I ordered the hash and it was delicious. It included brussel sprouts potatoes vegan sausage Hollandaise sauce and some more. I definitely want to come back to try their dinner menu.

Tree house is a fully vegetarian restaurant located in tower grove south. While their menu is fully vegetarian, they are able to make parts of their menu vegetarian and gluten free as well. I came to Tree House and ordered their fried chicken katsu sandwich and maduros. It was very busy but our server was as attentive as she could be given the amount of customers that were there. I think the flavor of the chicken katsu sandwich was middle tier. The maduros were fried nicely and coated in a nice drizzle of sauce. Overall I think this is a good option when you're looking for a place that has a variety of vegetarian/vegan options!

I've been wanting to try Tree House for ages, and it completely exceeded my expectations. As a lifelong vegetarian with a love for mocktails, I already knew from their online presence that it would be cute and delicious--but what I didn't anticipate was just how thoughtful, creative, and flavorful every single dish would be. The menu alone had me excited--everything from specialty sauces to inventive entrees like the sourdough Gouda patty melt and Japanese katsu sandwich reads like a love letter to fresh, top-quality ingredients. And the food lived up to it. Every bite felt purposeful and crafted with care. Even my husband, who's not vegetarian and usually a harder sell on plant-based food, was nearly giddy tasting the krab Rangoon and katsu. The mocktails were another highlight--absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced so you can sip and savor them without rushing through. I loved the Café Paradiso, a cozy espresso mocktail that felt perfect for fall, while Micah went for The Holiday, which was bright, refreshing, and fruity. Both were incredible. On top of the food and drinks, the staff made the whole experience even better--genuinely warm, personable, and clearly passionate about walking us through the menu and ingredients. Tree House is a gem for vegetarians, vegans, and honestly anyone who just loves food done right. Can't wait to come back.

Lacks seasoning. Big portion.

I've been to Tree House several times. However, this visit was for the brunch menu. Our part of 5 had no problem being seated at 11am on a Sunday. I ordered the Tipsy Dirty Chai for my cocktail and the Southern Benedict (tofu) served with potatoes. Both were excellent. Again, another great experience at this establishment. Service is always great and the food outstanding.

I'm not a vegetarian but I do eat many vegetarian meals. This is an enjoyable, satisfying meal and you won't feel like something was missing. When in the area, I'd happily eat here again. It is an attractive, casual dining atmosphere and the service was properly attentive.

To be a last minute find a place... that was close by, easy to get into and DELICIOUS! This place checked all the boxes. We went in around noon. We bought parking close to The Arch but it didn't start until 2 PM so we were trying to time it just right. We were here just over 1 hour. It allowed us plenty of time to eat and drive time to Arch parking. It wasn't on purpose but we both ended up with chorizo. I had a chorizo bowl with sunny eggs. I did want some fruit so I ended up with a side of fruit and 2 biscuits. The biscuits are droolworthy; Not enough places make biscuits like that. My wife ordered the chorizo omelet. She loved it but had plenty to take for leftovers. They have a small parking lot but we parked on the nearby side street and didn't have an issue. I thought we'd have to wait for a table but we didn't have any wait. Maybe this is a hidden gem of St Louis. It certainly is to us because it was so tasty. Not only were we not granted an exception on the checks as consolation for not being able to order french fries, there was no indication that this had even occurred to our server. This is precisely the level of temerity we need to inculcate in young women in our society, and I'd encourage her to apply for a job at the women's-only sports bar a few doors down if and when it ever opens. It'd be tragic if she wasn't there if and when I return, but I'd appreciate the fact that she has a greater mission. Hopefully, the deep fryer is working. It being out of commission naturally limited the number of things on the menu we could order. We were only told that we couldn't order anything that required a deep fryer, not given a modified menu or anything. I started going through each item and imagining how it might be prepared, but I couldn't muster the psychological bandwidth to continue. Hit my Cash App if you appreciate the amount of unpaid emotional labor I was compelled to contribute. It occurred to me that I might just get a burger and a side salad, but then I saw that they carry a club sandwich. I love a good club sandwich, and I figured it might make for a light, refreshing alternative, given the weather. There's an option to get a cup of soup for $1.50 extra as a side with your sandwich (no, they didn't offer to eat the charge), and I figured that might go well with my sandwich. I was kicking myself when they brought out someone else's order with the side salad. It looked really good. The Frisco Burger, or whatever they're calling it, looked good too. Meanwhile, the BBQ Beef & Cheddar Soup--the soup du jour (that's French), according to Flo--looked gross, like something your dog might cough up. But damn it was good! It was more beef than anything else. A large bowl of it might actually be too much food. (I'd still eat it, natch.) The overall flavor profile was along the lines of a good french onion soup. It was a reminder that I need to be ordering soup in restaurants more often. I wish the club sandwich was cut into little triangles and fanned out on the plate in some elaborate configuration, like at a place where rich old ladies have lunch, but I guess that wouldn't have been in keeping with the theme. Instead, it was served on the world's thickest Texas toast, with the world's dullest steak knife protruding from its center. This sounds like hyperbole, but I may have honestly been served the equivalent of half a loaf of bread. It was much more bread than I required, but at least it was fresh and delicious, as were all the other ingredients. Turkey used for sandwiches is almost never remarkable, but this was surprisingly great, as good as anything you'd get served as an entree unto itself. Nothing about this place suggests that it would have such good food, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. The decor, the overall vibe and the lack of hospitality might not be for everyone, but don't let that deter you.

We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

It was a chilly day and sort of drizzly the day we went, so we had to hang out inside to wait for the table which was a little awkward, but we made it work. Once our table was ready, we had a server who brought over water and coffee right away. She even told us about the specials for the day and my friend and I were sold with the poached pear pancakes! After a few minutes, our server came back and we placed our orders and also asked for some refils of our drinks. When the food was delivered to the table, it was hot and fresh and looked amazing. My friend and I shared the pancakes and were so happy to be able to sample both kinds. While my other friend went with a more healthy meal of eggs with bacon and an english muffin. Our server came over to check in on us a few times and made sure we were good. When it was time to pay the bill, we took care of htat quickly and were on our way. I was very excited to try them but left knowing I would not return. I waited 40 minutes on a weekday morning for a bar seat for one, standing because all the waiting area seats were taken. The hostess/waitress was very nice when she got to me, but you could tell that the amount of customers was simply too much to handle. Now, this was okay - I should have made a reservation, and it's not the staff's fault they were overwhelmed. However, the service once I sat down was patchy, delayed and distracted. I had to remind different servers of my presence, multiple times. I was willing to overlook this if the food had been fantastic, but unfortunately, their most popular item, the combo breakfast sandwich, was so incredibly heavy. The first bite was crispy, oily and fatty deliciousness, but by the third bite it was simply too rich. The sweet overtone of the honey was lovely but did not cut through the grease. By the time I finished half, I understood why several diners had left the other half uneaten. My personal preference is for a fresh, umami yet balanced sandwich that does not make me feel queasy after finishing it. This was not the sandwich for me. There was a long delay after I finished eating for them to bring me the check. My whole meal took around 2.5 hours. I had arrived starving and, I like to think, with an open mind. These are my honest, unfiltered observations. It is wonderful that so many people want to try their food and that their new space is bigger. Their decor, glassware and menu were cute and tasteful. I also love that they grew from a farmers market food stall and that they source their ingredients locally. With their level of popularity, I think they should focus on preserving the quality of their service and food.

A very big portion struggled to finish my whole cup. I didn't get a chance to go upstairs for the merch part. But I will when I return again. This was an annual best friend brunch. I feel like we were taking up too much time of a table sadly with how busy this restaurant was. When we really wanted to catch up more. But we all understand the business so didn't over stay our welcome, maybe we will try a less busy time also. This place is absolutely adorable. They have inside seating outside seating. They have a cute little counter. They have pies. They have delicious looking desserts along list. The one negative was I guess there was a line for the bathroom.. but you can only do so much with the space you have. We all really enjoyed our brunch at this lovely place. I feel it is a very good best kept secret.

I was a little bummed we couldn't get a table, but we were able to sit at the bar. So if you don't make reservations, they will get you in. The biscuits and gravy are either for you or they're not. I like them, but it's not something I would order every day. The charcuterie board was very good, but almost came off as a little basic for the price. The eggs Benedict was excellent, and the potatoes were the star of the show. The most simple food, but it was by far one of the biggest surprises at how tasty they were. I 100% recommend.

And the happy hour is crazy good! On a nice day there is nowhere nicer than the patio and tonight the happy hour was GLORIOUS. I do like sitting inside as well but with this weather you couldn't make me go inside. I have had brunch here quite a few times, dinner too, but as I said today was happy hour. That means the burger. It is absolutely one of the best I have had. I take it as offered but love that they always ask if I want modifications. Look at that burger! And the shoestring potatoes are marvelous too! We had the chips & cheese and olive appetizers to snack on as burgers were getting made and we each had a cocktail. Love that the service is attentive and friendly (Brian was great tonight). But also love that I never feel rushed to turn the table over. And the happy hour from 5-6 means that burger is close in price to tha burgers at Shake Shack and I guarantee you will enjoy this far more. I have had great dishes of all sorts here but I sometimes have to give in to the burger... it never lets me down!

My day drinking BFF and I needed to kill time before the restaurant we were set to have lunch opened. So we thought cocktails at Bowood would be nice. We got two stools at the bar and settled in. Once we glanced over the cocktail menu, we knew what we wanted. We're both Espresso Martini fans, we each got one. Seeing an espresso machine behind the bar, I glad to see they use "real" espresso in their martini. I got real excited when he grabbed my favorite vodka, Tito's as the base. Watching his masterful skills as he prepared our cocktails was pure entertainment. We were both impressed with the presentation of our martinis. They are served in vintage styled glasses. It was the best Espresso Martini I have had since, Harvey's in midtown closed. The martinis were so good, we thought we'd have a light nosh. We both like pistachios so we ordered a, Pistachio Brown Butter Tea Cake and shared it. The bartender also recommended it. His description was spot on. With an excellent martini and a pistachio tea cake, I may have told the bartender that I loved him. We finished our drinks and I settled up our tab in celebration of my BFF's B-Day. Walking out, both of us said, we're definitely coming back.

I've been meaning to eat southwestern-themed breakfast food since I saw the legendary "chorizo and…read moreeggs" scene from the movie Midnight Run. The opportunity finally presented itself when a member of my old man's bicycle group suggested this place for a Friday afternoon lunch. I was more than happy to step away from my responsibilities for an hour or two, and the only thing that would have made it better is if I'd been able to disappoint a group of people standing in line, like at the DMV. I'd been as far south on McCausland as a shopping center near the intersection with Manchester, for a drug test for a job, which I'll have you know I passed with flying colors. Consulting Google Maps on the way to the restaurant, I was surprised to see that it's on (er, kinda on) Southwest Avenue. Does it serve diner fare with a southwestern flair due to its address, or is that a mere matter of coincidence? According to a guy I know, who knows several people who work there (don't be jealous), it's the latter. Certainly, you wouldn't put a restaurant here for the ambience. This looks like the kind of place where you'd ditch a stolen car after using the backseat for a fried chicken dinner that somehow involved ketchup (why?) and an assignation with a lady of the evening. If you live nearby, I guess it's not off the beaten path, but who lives here? The menu is a veritable plethora of riches. You could have breakfast food, or you could have lunch food, even if you couldn't bring yourself to roll out of bed until after 10:30 AM. It's downright anxiety inducing! I toyed with the idea of a torta or a burger, and I also saw that they had milkshakes. I ended up going with breakfast food, because I love breakfast food and I don't get it as often. Specifically, I went with something called the Rocket to Bacon Land. It's a bacon and goat cheese omelet with arugula and caramelized onions, served with home fries and your choice of bread. I could have gone with various kinds of toast or a sopapilla. I went with a biscuit. It was amazing! It looked like something your mom would make with Bisquick when she's feeling especially lazy, but it tasted great. It may have been better than the biscuits at Popeyes--which is pretty much the highest compliment you can pay a food item. The omelet was also pretty good. I appreciated the generous helping of eggs, which must have run them, thanks to a certain individual who shall not be named. It was definitely an egg-forward preparation. The arugula didn't seem to add much, as I suspected, and I don't know that the bacon or onions were present in sufficient quantities as to be truly dominant. The goat cheese was definitely a choice. It was warm and soft (ahem), but not melty the way you'd expect cheese in an omelet to be. I liked it, but I don't know if I liked it as much as a regular ol' Denver omelet. I'm a close-minded individual. I buy vanilla ice cream for the taste. Would I feel the same way, to varying degrees, about everything else on the menu? There's only one way to find out.
