My husband had been raving about this restaurant, he used to eat at a different location when he was younger. We spent the night in Clear Lake and ate here. We went on Friday night, and the restaurant was busy, but there was not a wait. We started with the seafood fondue, which I definitely recommend. It is served with a generous amount of garlic bread. My husband had the shrimp sampler platter, and he was very pleased with everything. I ordered the grilled stuffed shrimp, I was so happy to be able to order them grilled instead of fried. My husband had dirty rice as a side and I had the stuffed potato, which is a twice baked potato, covered in melted cheese. Everything was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place with good Cajun food after Floyd's on 1960 closed down. Food here was pretty spot on in terms of authenticity. My husband and I split a bowl of their seafood gumbo. Apparently they don't put okra in their seafood or shrimp gumbos to "appease the Texas palate"...I'm just wondering...since when do people in Texas not like okra??? However, the gumbo was fantastic. The roux was nice and dark and thin. The crab didn't appear to be lump meat, but it was delicious, as well as the shrimp. My only request was that the gumbo be served a tad hotter (termperature), but otherwise, it's one of the best I've had. I had Bubba's shrimp platter, which came with grilled shrimp, stuffed shrimp, a couple fried shrimp and two sides. I went with Floyd's potatoes and the homemade onion rings. The entire plate was a winner. My husband found the grilled shrimp to be a little bland, but I liked them. The stuffed shrimp were more like battered than stuffed; they were plump and filling. The tartar sauce was perfect too. The onion rings were very flavorful and crisp and the potatoes were nicely seasoned with onions and bell peppers. My husband had the half crawfish plate with red beans and rice and hand cut fries. He raved about the red beans and rice...it was very smoky and had a ton of sausage. The fries...well, those were awesome. Super crunchy and oddly enough...reheated in a toaster oven tasted almost as good as when they were fresh. Also, the crawfish were extremely plentiful...a half order looked like a full. It's a rarity to see places give generous orders of seafood. Most places skimp on the seafood and give you tons of fries. Not Floyd's. Nothing about the service was slow. Our server was incredibly friendly and quick. He was very apologetic when they forgot to bring out our sides. Food came out in a good amount of time. This is solid Cajun food. It's a long drive, but no doubt I will be back. read more

Oysters on the half shell: the raw were excellent, the grilled Parmesan were average. They took a while and the waitress explained that there is one guy shucking them and preparing them and he's kind of lazy, so she said be prepared to wait. The bisque was flavorless. Wouldn't get that again! The Cajun pasta was good, it's a huge serving. Seafood was plentiful. I wish the menu would've said it had mushrooms, as the other pasta dish specified it had mushrooms. But they were big pieces, so I pulled out what I could. He had the stuffed flounder...and his complaint was the number of bones. Plus, I thought his crab stuffing was more stuffing and less crab. He got one of the specialty sauces on top, although I can't remember which one (it was the first one on the list) and he liked it. Friends had: flounder with crab on top, and it was okay. Still had the bone issue. French fries were excellent, although not hot. Sad about that. Onion rings were good too. Hush puppies were, well, hush puppies. The back room was hot. Just a warning. The actual entrance is located around their patio area facing the freeway. We asked the hostess for a table and she said the wait was around 25-35 minutes. My boyfriend and I thought it was weird since we saw an empty table in the back (we came through the back door). However, we opted out and decided to sit outside due to the beautiful sunny weather. Patio area is self seating and is spacious. The table is a bit dirty. They should ask their workers to wipe down the table for new guests... We ordered two pounds of crawfish (currently $6.99 per pound). Their seasoning is typical for American seafood restaurants: Cajun spice (more specifically a mixture of some of these ingredients...salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, and/or red pepper flakes). The crawfish meat is juicy but lacks a bit of flavor. If you want to amp up your taste buds, then either dip it with their house hot sauce or glide it against the outer shell of the crawfish. (5/10) We need "filler food" so we got a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo plus their 1/2 & 1/2 Po-Boy. Gumbo (8/10): I was impressed with their gumbo. The broth is amazing! The chicken is moist and they give you a generous amount of sausage. I love how they put the rice on the side, because that means more gumbo! Po-Boy (4/10): Mediocre entree. I was disappointed. We got half catfish and half shrimp. The shrimp po-boy has more Thousand Island dressing spread on the bread baguette. The catfish po-boy barely has any dressing spread so it tasted a bit bland. Our waiter was very attentive to us, so I do enjoy the great customer service. If I have a craving for crawfish, I will most likely go over to LA Crawfish (Webster, TX) to devour their savory garlic butter crawfish. read more

We've been here many times and have always have wonderful experiences when we go. The raw oysters are big and taste clean and refreshing never gritty like some places. This week we tried the crawfish here for the first time. I never expected the crawfish to be so good here! I was pleasantly surprised. The spice was great, they were hot, fresh, and easy to peel. Some of the best I've had. We also had the seafood stuffed jalapenos, which we get regularly and love. They have a nice kick to them and are stuffed full of crab and breading. So yummy! I have eaten crawfish in several restaurants and was told Floyd's was the best. I can't say that I agree so I will stick with Guidry's in Deer Park for my crawfish cravings. The veggies of the day carrot cauliflower and broccoli were absolutely delicious. There are really only two reasons why I come to Floyd's and the crawfish boil and fried crawfish tails are those exact reasons. They seriously have some of the largest, juiciest crawfish that I've ever had and they are so pleasantly seasoned with creole seasoning. The red potatoes were plentiful, soft and buttery and the corn on the cob was delicious as well. For 5$ a pound, it was absolutely worth it. Seriously, don't pass up the fried crawfish tails or alligator either. The lobster and crab bisque's are fantastic as well and make an excellent lunch the next day! You can't have crawfish without beer so grab a bucket of coronas with lime! Service is a little slow and the place is usually packed to the brim on the weekends, but we don't give a hoot. No 25 minute wait will keep me from my Cajun crawfish fix. Definitely recommend. read more

Another Lyft driver recommended this place... in particular their marinated crab fingers and crawfish. Luckily we had some room for more seafood during our short trip to Houston. They had outside patio. Seating, bar seats and regular dining area. The first thing they asked was if we wanted smoking or non-smoking section (we haven't been to a restaurant that had smoking inside since the 80s!). We opted for the smoking area, which in fact was more like an extension of the bar area. When we were there not many people were actually smoking. One guy was vaping, and there were families with kids in the area. It didn't smell too Smokey from cigarettes. Usually I wouldn't want to sit in a smoking section but also didn't want to wait 25 min for the regular dining area. Since we only wanted a light meal we ordered the marinated crab fingers, crab bisque, a pound of crawfish and hush puppies. Crab bisque was outstanding! Buttery, great flavor and nice chunks of crab meat. Came with a side of rice and bread. The crab fingers were different, nothing I've ever had but very good. I loved how the fingers were ready to dip and eat... easy peasey! I liked the hush puppies a lot too. Crunchy with nice flavor. Came with cocktail sauce and tartar but I ended up dipping them in the hot sauces on the table. There's a nice variety of hot sauces which I loved. Crawfish was so cheap, tasty and huge!! It came with a nice spicy dry seasoning. They seem to always have great deals on crawfish here. It was $6.99/lb when we got ours (Mother's Day). Staff were pretty friendly and we watched food coming out of the kitchen... everything looked great, but the crawfish seemed to be the most popular here. We were quite happy with our visit! Some of THE WORST food I've ever had. I'm usually one to give second chances and stuff but I've never asked for a check so fast in my life. First we waited at the hostess booth for a really long time because there was no there. We ordered our food , 2 of us ordered crawfish and another ordered shrimp pasta. First off the crawfish were SUPER small and the ones we got were not stripped from the cooking pot because they were already dead before cooked. They were also SUPER salty like it felt like i was just eating salt and Cajun spice. The potatoes that we got were super small and not cooked enough and for the corn we didn't even eat bc it was cold and super pale yucky yellow. For the pasta, it was Al dente lemon noodles with a whole bunch of pasta water around it. You would almost think it's soup. Ordered the Bud's Platter which is four kinds of shrimp (fried, stuffed, bacon wrapped and broiled) with a side of onion rings. The food was EXCELLENT! The onion rings were a small basket that could have served 2-3 people. But I ate them all. The shrimp was freshly prepared and arrived hot from the kitchen. My server was Stephanie M. She was just attentive enough to check on me but not intrusive. Excellent service. In the past, I would go to Bubba's when in the area. No longer. This is my place to go for good fried seafood now. SMALLEST CRAWFISH IVE EVER PAID FOR!!! My wife took me here as a surprise because people recommended it to us for my first crawfish of the year! We had the crab bisque "which is good" and the Seafood Fondue "which was good as well. But when I recurved my 2 pounds of crawfish 90% were smaller then my pinky. To small to even clean on at least 25% of it. I'm talking like as small or smaller tails then the tip of my pinky. Not to mention tons of scraps mixed in. I was super sad as I was very excited to try them. Well at the end of my meal I saw them bring out crawfish to the table next to me. All normal good size. I realized they gave me the entire bottom remnants of a bag. As a business y'all should never serve one customer a pile of dead scraps to tiny to eat from the very bottom of the bag. Out with my hubby and decided on seafood. This waa a great choice! Floyd's was very good! The wait was about 20 minutes which wasn't bad for Valentine's day. The waiter was new, so he was back and forth with other waiters. He still was nice and did get the order right. I ordered the Bub's shrimp, very good especially if you like shrimp. The dirty rice was lacking some flavor but not too bad. I liked the hush puppies but my hubby didn't. He said they had too much onion powder, but it didn't bother me. Their raw oysters were phenomenal and the service was great, but I cannot recommend their boiled crawfish if you are looking for an authentic experience. We couldn't even finish half of what we ordered, and we are hardcore Cajun crawfish lovers and eaters. Their seasoning is not traditional. It almost had a curry vibe to us which was really bizarre. (We had to request ours to be rinsed since they were so heavily coated.) The juice from the heads also had a strange/dirty twang to it, which became even more prominent once the heavy seasoning was rinsed off. We really tried, but we just couldn't enjoy them. So, if you are like us and trying to get boiled crawfish when you are homesick for Louisiana style, this is not your place. We had the option to seat outside or inside, we chose to set outside because of the lovely day it was. Our waitress was right there even on the busy day to get our drinks, have our water and asking about appetizers. On weekend from what I'm told they do bands, which cool cause if your into having drinks or just chilling an listening to music this is definitely the place. I ordered the crawfish which was $5.99 a Lb which isn't to bad considering its Houston and some places charge way more. My boss had the crab boulets which were also good, and he ordered the jambalaya an said it was great ! The crawfish was definitely amazing seasoned just right for me especially with me being from Louisiana I'm very picky about my seafood/ or Louisiana cooking outside of Louisiana lol. After visiting the Mont Belvieu location I thought I'd be walking into a similar location, but this place is shabby and more like a beach bar than a place that should cost a couple $100 for dinner. read more

We ordered the oysters Lafayette which were so fresh and delicious. My girlfriend ordered the catfish etouffee and I had the Floyd's platter. Everything was so delicious and seasoned well. The hush puppies melt in your mouth. I'm not a cocktail sauce type of person but Floyd's cocktail sauce was . Everything was so hot, fresh and delicious. Came in around dinner time and the place was empty. My experience explains why. When I sat down I asked the waitress for the happy hour specials. She went to check and explained they changed prices from the menu. I said no problem and decided to order margaritas which she stated was $4.50 during hh instead of regular price $6.00. Received the bill and was charged $7 for the margaritas. After pointing out the mistake a manager came over and stated that was the price we would pay. After calmly explaining that was poor service. He adjusted a few dollars but we still paid more than the two different prices the waitress told me. The manager then made us feel very uncomfortable and was rude. This place will be memorable as the worst dining experience I've ever had. Not one employee said sorry for the misinformation. I can't believe I have never reviewed Floyds given the number of times I have been there and how good the food is. Always Fresh, Raw Oysters and if Floyd does not have them then you should not either, anywhere. Gumbo (Seafood) and Boudin (Grilled) are incredibly good starters and although most people would stop at that point I have proceeded on to many of the different and varied entrees and never had a bad one. read more
