I can't believe I have never reviewed Floyds given the number of times I have been there and how good the food is. Always Fresh, Raw Oysters and if Floyd does not have them then you should not either, anywhere. Gumbo (Seafood) and Boudin (Grilled) are incredibly good starters and although most people would stop at that point I have proceeded on to many of the different and varied entrees and never had a bad one. read more

Came in around dinner time and the place was empty. My experience explains why. When I sat down I asked the waitress for the happy hour specials. She went to check and explained they changed prices from the menu. I said no problem and decided to order margaritas which she stated was $4.50 during hh instead of regular price $6.00. Received the bill and was charged $7 for the margaritas. After pointing out the mistake a manager came over and stated that was the price we would pay. After calmly explaining that was poor service. He adjusted a few dollars but we still paid more than the two different prices the waitress told me. The manager then made us feel very uncomfortable and was rude. This place will be memorable as the worst dining experience I've ever had. Not one employee said sorry for the misinformation. After a long challenging day, I decided to take a drive to Floyd's in Webster, Tx. Apparently, Floyd's offers happy hour all day on Tuesday...sounds good, right? WRONG!!! Zero place to sit, service was terrible...HOWEVER, the issue with the happy hour is that a drunk local by the name of "Dave" took it upon himself to grab my boobs & and attempt to assault me. I'VE SEEN THIS MAN BEFORE IN MY LIFE. I attempted to locate management however, no manager was available to assist. I left immediately, and am now following up with management however, the manager (Eddie Diaz) has been zero help....I was told to go to police? I DID, and will not let this matter slide. Instead of supporting a guest that was clearly violated, they are supporting the drunken behavior of their regular patron. It is my understanding that this is not the first incident where women are violated at Floyd's, Webster. The food here is AMAZING! Have visited 2x and will definitely be back. 1st visit, busy dinner, about an hour wait( 630-7pm on a weekend, to be expected if the restaurant is good). Normally we try to sit/eat at the bar but it was packed, so we grabbed a couple beers and waited on the porch. Once we were sat, we selected oysters & the seafood fondue as appetizers. Oysters so fresh! The fondue is delicious!! Baked cheeses with shrimp, crawfish tails, REAL crab meat, and mushrooms served with garlic bread. YUM!!!! For entrees we both decided on 2 of the half &half meals. 1 with Etouffee and shrimp the other with etouffee and crawfish tails. Great portions! We would have just ordered 1 had we known. Service was great. I believe his name was Monty, but I goofed his name at one point so I might be wrong. 2nd visit, we sat at the bar. Again great service with Danielle. Had the oysters & fondue again. Just as delicious as the 1st time! Atmosphere is laid back. Dining area is family friendly. Bar area is separate would assume no kids. We got the seafood court bullion and the chicken fried steaks today and were very disappointed how "very salty" it was except for the oysters on the half shell that were great! We went there years ago and loved it but not so much this time because of the salty food. Everything we ordered was delicious years ago but somehow we forgot all about this location for some unknown reason. Then we went to the location in Pearland and loved it. Will try the Webster location another time but I hope they don't ruin our meals the next time with the heavy salt again. read more

Irony at its best. I'll start on a positive note, lord knows they didn't. The food at Floyd's, at least what I've had (catfish & shrimp) is awesome. But let's be honest that's just luxury food. No technique, you just order it out because it's messy to make at home. The main reason I go is because my son (3) loves the boat. To bad the host (bald guy with bad breath) didn't understand that. When I arrived I asked to sit at the front of the boat (available), it's free seating anyway. When the host paused, I threw in my son loves to look out of the boat. When he heard that he explains we cannot sit there. Obviously, I have been there before, so when I asked why he said "it's bad for business". It was was noon by the way. I will never claim to be the father of the year, but having my son in the suburbs, at noon, around adults having beers seems... well pretty damn American. So as you can imagine my jaw hitting the floor when he went on saying "children are bad for business in the boat". It runs customers off because customers feel the have to "police" theirselves. Wow! How much are they serving the customers there? It was noon mind you! I am no saint, but I typically don't get bombed at a restaurant @ noon. Hopefully the servers are much more prudent than the bald guy and adhere to TABC regulations. Be careful while in that parking lot, apparently they are leaving loaded. I digress, I guess he doesn't see the irony in the statement "kids run off business", because he just lost a customer. Floyd's is my go to place in Clear Lake for some tasty crawfish. They are amazing! My dad, fiance and I finished 10 lbs between all of us with appetizers of raw oysters and corn and potatoes. The place is always packed on the weekends. They have an outdoor patio area to drink your beer while you wait for a table. They also have a secret bar in the back that you can also wait for you table at. My dad loves their gumbo and he is extremely pick about his gumbo. They also have tons of other Cajun dishes that are delicious. There are also TV's throughout the place to watch the games. It is next to a Hooters which people love to go to to watch sports but I would really encourage you to step out of your comfort zone of boobs to try Floyds with its much better food. Since the Pappaduex in Kemah was washed awake in Ike this is a great place to get your Cajun food if you need a new place. read more

Don't restaurants realize that 'going out' money is tight.  Amazing....   In the past, I allowed two visits of bad service/food before not ever going back (Ex: Chili's).  Just cannot afford that anymore.  Economy sucks unless you are on the government tit.    $25 for a rib-eye steak?!!?!??!  No, I didn't get that.  $24 for flounder?!?  Naaa, pass.  Family member got the Floyds bar trash (named appropriately)... That was funny right there.   While waiting for food, too many staff members were struggling with a door in the back.  They kept banging on the unlock push release harder and harder.  Finally they got the door to work after they opened the door in the nice humid hot evening for too long for the A/C to compete.   We had a table for 9 plus two young kids.  Waiter was OK when we first arrived and then it went downhill pretty fast.  Salads never came for some of our family.  A simple dozen oysters came when our food should have arrived.  I was never asked for a second beer.  I had to tell the waiter to stop/pause and listen to the errors occurring.  Then he walked away before I was finished.  Two dinners did not come out.    One of the over prices Sirloin steaks came out and my family could not take a second bite.  I tried it and it really, really tasted like it was defrosted in a microwave oven then put on something that heated it until it tasted like they drug it from the kitchen to the table.  The potato was dry and it came with NOTHING!?!?   Granted the manger arrived (because the waiter didn't look me in the eyes anymore) and tried to make nice.  Real nice.  He comp'd the very late food and the over priced steak that tasted like a teenager's tennis shoe.  He kept pushing for comp'd desert.  Too late.   At the end of the long stay, I say Mr. nice manager putting lettuce on small dishes on an open bar.  At least he had gloves on.... read more

Not the best snow crab. It was over cooked, small in size and a bit gnarly (missing limbs/damaged) The staff was friendly, but the non-smoking section was in the back in what seemed more like a hallway. Service was mediocre. The building is made to look like a boat, my kids would have gone bonkers for it. One impressive detail is that they use old oyster shells for ground covering in a couple of areas outside, instead of rock. I thought that was unique. Had alligator for the first time here. Meat seemed a tad tougher than chicken. They put it inside a sandwich with some lettuce bits and cole slaw to balance it out. Building was definitely a perk too: it is in this run down ship, complete with wooden floors, walls, and ceilings. We decided to stop by after leaving the Space center and we were not disappointed. We were confused at first on whether we sat ourselves or if there was a hostess. To clarify things there is a hostess we just came in the wrong end. Once we were seated we had a great experience. They were promt in sitting us and bringing our drinks and food. The waiter was very helpful when we informed him that this was our first time. The crab bisque was amazing!!! The aligator and their gravy sauce was very good. So if you're a fan of fried seafood this place is for you. I've been several times over the past few years and I've always been pleased with my food, BUT I will qualify this by saying that I knew what to expect going in--fried seafood. The Oyster's Floyd are outstanding and I'm definitely a fan of the Seafood Platter--the catfish is always delish, and the crawfish are pretty great as well. The portions are HUGE so be sure to bring your appetite. If you get the Seafood Platter or any combination they serve the fish/shrimp/oysters over a bed of fries. I'm not sure if it's the Seafood or just the way they cook the fries but the last few times I've been the fries have been absolutely soaked in grease. That may be your thing, but I couldn't eat them. But besides the fact that the fries are hit or miss, I'll keep going back! read more

Floyd's is delicious! What can I say, I love fried seafood. I ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 plate with catfish and fried shrimp.. It was excellent! The cocktail sauce tasted like it was homemade.. The entire meal was delicious. The portions are huge, even on the kids meals.. My 5 year old ordered the catfish bites off the kids menu and the amount of food that came out on her plate would have filled up most adults... I also tasted the sausage and chicken gumbo and it seemed to have a nice flavor. Definitely will return again the next time I am in the mood for fried shrimp. read more

This place was a huge disappointment. We came here based on a recommendation from a local to try the oysters and crawfish. Crawfish- we had 5 lbs at 6.99 a lbs. biggest waste of money. I'm not talking about the size but the seasoning is overdone and not very good. They also broke apart while peeling. Oysters- we had the pico de, parm / shrimp, and raw. The pica was ok. Listen here folks. Go to Floyd's and get the 5 lb of boiled crawfish "manuel style" and a bucket of beer and get ready for the best crawfish ever. I love crawfish, I consider myself a connoisseur of those dirty buggers and this ones are SO GOOD! They are big, juicy, and spicy, perfect seasoning, with butter oil dipping juice. Manuel style means "doused in magical hot sauce" and you need it in your life. The Webster location gets less crazy crowded than Pearland. I think the key is to go hunker down around 5:00 becuase by 5:45 its packed with a line in the parking lot. Absolutely horrible. I was introduced to Floyd's while working in Beaumont before they branched out and it was fairly good. They opened one in Sugar Land close to where I live and it's not as good but has improved. I was at church in Friendswood and stopped in for lunch at this one in Webster and it was all around horrible. Oysters were served on a tiny plate with regular ice cubes sliding around, bar trash app was dried out, over cooked and fishy and my redfish courtbullion had worms. See attached! read more

Attempted to go for a late lunch today and although there was visibly several open tables, was told by the host it would be a 45 -1 hour wait. When we were discussing with our party if we wanted to wait, the host quickly interrupted and suggested us not to wait. They only had 2 servers fir the entire place. Loved this place! We ate in the bar and the food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was too. The place was packed with lots of happy local customers enjoying themselves. Not fancy but a special experience, none the less. I was surprised by the relatively low yelp score. This place is an authentic Cajun seafood place. OK, I haven't been here in awhile even though it's probably my favorite for seafood! But Floyd's kind of sets the standard for seafood in this area!!! Years ago it might have been Key Largo, Robinson's, or the Flying Dutchman all located in Kemah before the Boardwalk days. I moved to East Texas for about 10 years and by the time I got back, my how things had changed!!! This used to be a Captain's, or Captain Benny's before I left. I guess it didn't do very will and the rest is history. Floyd's has the best seafood in the bay area! It's my go to place for whatever you might want from the bay or gulf! The oysters on the half Shell are always my first choice. Manuel, who does the shucking has set the standard for the best oysters and the best presentation, always nice and clean and on a tray with a bed of good cold ice!!! They are very hard to beat and they don't chinch likes some other places are starting to do by just giving you 12!!! Manuel always makes sure you get a bakers dozen which is 13 oysters!!! That's the way oysters have ALWAYS been served!!! A lot of times the wife and I will just make a dinner off of the appetizer menu! The seafood stuffed jalapeños are to die for! The fried catfish pieces are good, so are the fried oysters, alligator, and the oysters Manuel are really good too! We have had just about everything on the menu and I've never had anything I didn't like!!! The Crawfish half and half are really good, half fried, half ettouffee. The fried shrimp and fried Oyster platters are good and you can have your choice of sides with almost everything. The scallops are really good and you can order them fried, grilled, or blackened as you can with other menu items as well. The crab bisque is my wife's favorite. This last visit I ordered the redfish Pontchartrain with a baked potato and my wife had the mahi LaPaz with a stuffed potato. Both dishes were excellent and we were stuffed when we left! The seafood courtbouillion is another great dish. Bret Floyd caught a nice grouper awhile back and offered it on the menu grilled, blackened, or fried covered in La Paz sauce! It was absolutely some of the best fish I have ever eaten!!! When you go you have your choice of inside, smoking, or non smoking. You can set at the big horseshoe shaped bar and order, or sit at a table. You can also sit outside on the deck when the weather allows. They have a great selection of beer, and its always ice cold, and they have a full bar for those that would prefer a drink. You can't go wrong here for Louisiana style seafood! I try to avoid Kemah at All costs anymore! The good seafood is here!!! They have several locations now also. Webster, Friendswood, a new location at Harborwalk in Hitchcock, and also in Beaumont on I-10 West bound at the old Don's seafood site. Okay. So honestly I was just thoroughly disappointed. Walked in and was sat at the first seat. (When there was so many better ones , just sheer laziness) First of all my appetizer. I got the oyster trash or whatever it's called. $16 I got a small squirt of butter , soggy ass garlic bread on a dingy plate , and some dry crab meat. I ordered the crab bisque , which came with rice , and again , the same soggy bread. The rice was hard , and oh my gosh . Did I get Bisque?? Or just a bowl of heavy cream . Lukewarm cream at that. I sent it back immediately . I then received my crab cakes , which seems like they just sat in butter and became completely soggy. I was so stressed I ordered Jameson on the rocks and it was the only thing I ended up being happy with. $60 don't waste your money. Trash. read more

Came in on July 4th which was a great time to come because it was not crowded or smoky. We ordered boudain balls and catfish fingers for an appetizer. Both were excellent. That catfish batter was light and crispy, the fish perfectly cooked on the inside nice and flaky. The boudain balls too were very flavorful and a nice light batter. I ordered the oyster and soft shell crab dish and the side was creole rice. The oysters were soft and delicious, the soft shell crab was good too, not the best batter I have ever had though. I had to send the creole rice back it tasted like nothing at all, and the rice texture was off as well. I had it substituted with a baked potato, can't go wrong with that...I had a glass of "premium" white wine they called it, in a tiny little wine glass. I really prefer drinking wine out of the proper wine glass but...it tasted the same I guess. This day this food was excellent, the service was prompt and friendly. We usually go to the Floyds on the Water closer to where I live, but was glad we switched it up, I forgot how much more this Floyds has on the menu. read more

I will have to admit.. I do not stray far off the Gumbo path when it comes to dining at Floyds. I love their Chicken and Sausage Gumbo.. It is just AMAZING.. Anyone I know down here from Louisiana goes to Floyd's... I had raw oysters there for the first time the other night. Were good. I thought a tad bit small considering the time of the year but they were very clean with a good taste to them...I think my only regret is they do not serve ice cold PBR to eat with their grub... BUT they do serve Lone Star.. And if you are visiting Houston for the first time yah just are not doing it right if you do not go eat some raw oysters chased down by an ice cold beer. Wait times can get a little crazy on weekends and lunch unless you are OK sitting in the smoking section. Which honestly... Every has to walk RIGHT through the smoking section to get to the non smoking section so I am ok with it besides there is not usually a lot of smoke, Tips.... A cup of gumbo ain't gonna do it.... If you are a big man just skip the bowl and ask for a super bowl of gumbo. And with any gumbo order extra rice as they tend to only give a small scoop Nother tip. If you like seafood gumbo instead of chicken.. Order up an order of bar trash (blackened crab meat and shrimp meat) and toss it on the gumbo for an extra meaty bowl. read more

Stopped in here with a large group of 20+ for work on a Thursday night. Service was very good and quick. Had the chicken and sausage gumbo, tried some oysters, and various appetizers. All were very good! Only complaint was that the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. Urine all over the floor, overflowing wastebasket, just nasty. This could have just been a snapshot in time and I can look past this as it gets neglected everywhere sometimes on busy nights but some people can't..it can be a reflection of the cleanliness of the establishment. After reading the reviews, looks like I just ordered the wrong items. Seems like you should stick with crawfish. I came here for lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. The shrimp po-boy and crab bisque did not go well for me. Too much bread for the amount of stuffing in the po-boy, overly creamy bisque. If I hadn't felt nauseous after drinking a couple spoonfuls of the soup, I would have enjoyed the lump crabmeat a lot more. The fried calamari was delicious, but I kept feeling my arteries clog with each bite. Sigh, why did I let myself come out to eat Cajun food?! Of course this is what I'm going to get... So for those of you who will visit: prepare your stomach before you go. Expect plates of fried...everything. Tell your stomach ahead of time, "Today, I will stuff you with a LOAD OF OILY, FRIED SEAFOOD." Then maybe you'll come out more satisfied than I did :( read more

This is another one of those reviews where you have to judge the restaurant for the class and type of restaurant it is. Floyd's isn't a fancy, upscale restaurant. it isn't meant to be. it's bar, that serves some homestyle, fried and fresh seafood. Most of the plates are going to be fried, greasy, short-order type food, but with the creole and cajun influence and seafood. It's a loud, noisy, working class place, and on a day you want to just have a cold beer, a margarita, and some fried seafood, this is THE place to go. On the weekends and special events, they even have crawfish boils outside, live music and drink specials. And this is all too noisy and too much for me! BUT.... they have some really good homestyle cajun 'fast' food that is better than anything you can get at a 'fast-food' place. So we ordered from them to go a LOT. You will love the almost "all crab" crab bisque. I just love the stuff, with all the sweet crab meat in it. I have no idea how they sell it so cheap with all that crab in it! The calamari is some of the largest and best pieces of calamari I've had in the entire Houston area. They serve a large portion with ranch dressing. It's good, with lots of legs and rings both. We do the crawfish. To be honest, I like Razoo's crawfish better, by a lot, which is probably the reason I choose to give Floyd's a four instead of a five. That said, Razoo's is too far away for me to pick it up fast from them, and Floyd's isn't bad. It's just that the size isn't consistent--they'll serve big ones (huge) with tiny little ones--and some of the tails are mushy, like they had been previously frozen. Also, I'd like more heat to the spice--Razoo's has some really good spicing. So on the crawfish, Floyd's isn't the best, but they are solid and the price is decent. We've never had anything we didn't at least eat and like from Floyd's, and a lot of the time, we're eating it takeout, which arguably isn't the best way to eat any food. The interior decor is nice, wooden, but a little tight for wheelchair accessibility, which is just another reason we usually do takeout. Their prices aren't bad, though for fresh seafood, I think you're better sticking with their fried offerings. What little 'fresh' stuff we've eaten, like the crab legs, the grilled fish, etc., has been overdone and done so much better at other places. But their fried stuff is pretty decent. Have I mentioned how much I love their calamari? So Floyd's is a good, solid place to eat when you're wanting good fried seafood! If you're into the bar scene, check out their website for events and drink specials, because they look like a fun scene for folks who are into that scene. A casual, loud, laid-back weekend event at Floyd's might be really fun, and eating pounds of crawfish while enjoying it!. read more

Been here a few times, twice with out-of-towners and have had a good time. I usually get some shrimp gumbo and a crab or gator appetizer before a fish dish. Haven't been disappointed yet. Its Cajun food, so things tend to be seasoned pretty well, along with plenty of fried options. But nothing the blood pressure meds can't take care of. Since its Webster, people can smoke which is a downer. But I haven't smelled it in the back. read more
