I stopped by this bar since it was in the area and I've been wanting to check it out. Me and my husband are actually moving close by to this area, and I was trying to find a good gay bar that we could go to from time to time. Well, from what I've experienced, this bar is a good choice. For one thing, it's great to see a bar with a healthy mix of gay men and lesbians together. I almost never see that kind of thing down in WeHo. Second, the bar isn't too big, therefore it's not too overly crowded. Plus, there is an additionaI patio area in the back for more room. Because of the decent-sized crowd, I was able to get the bartender's attention and receive my drink fairly quickly. Third, there are two pool tables inside. Since I like to play occasionally, that's perfect for me. Fourth, the bartender that evening, I believe his name is Vince, was very friendly and he made me some pretty great Rum & Cokes. The bouncer outside was friendly, along with the bartender. I asked the bartender for his advice on some good places to hang around in the area, since I mentioned earlier about me and my husband's moving arrangements, and he happily gave me some good tips. My friends and I were faced with a wait to get in to the New Wave Bar next door so we decided to grab some drinks here. I think a lot of people had the same idea, as we saw a lot of straight people who looked like refugees from the New Wave Bar as well, lol. It was also a rainy night, which I'm sure contributed to the crowding in the place. So while it was quite crowded, everyone was really nice and we were pleasantly surprised to discover their cheap drink prices! I got a couple of standard cocktails for me and my friend and I think it was like $8. Forrrrealzzz? OK, so they weren't the stiffest drinks I've had, but they were decent. It's a pretty good-sized place, with a long bar and a bunch of tall tables and chairs. There was one pool table and a juke box. When it got to be like around 11:30 or so they moved the pool table over to the side, presumably to create a dance floor? Great bartenders, cool atmosphere, pool tables, darts, games, juke box, karaoke, outside patio, and some of the coolest people on the planet! Who would have thought?! And not packed with dude, but women and lots of them. Gay, bi, curious and all so chill and wanting to talk and dance and just have a great time. To the 2 girls that I played pool with (I'm so sorry I forgot your names but got the numbers in my phone and next Tuesday is cool). To the four at the bar, you girls where hella fun and funny as hell. Everyone was so chill and friendly. I'll be checking the gay bars/clubs in WeHo for sure. It wasn't like a normal bar scene. As you reader will soon learn I have a fascination with gay bars. Compared to your average straight bars I'm of the opinion that gay truly does mean happy because the people are just damn friendlier. I'm straight, but love gay bars. For the most part, everytime I go people are super sweet friendly and not all Bro-ed out. I came here once with a friend late at night and thought it was cute. Then I noticed they had insane drinks specials. So months ago, I started coming here with my straight guy friend on Sunday because they had $1 draft beers and we're broke. (Due to inflation, that's now gone up to $1.50. In any case, let me list the reason this bar rocks: -Cheap, cheap, cheap drinks. Seriously, they're giving them away. Check out the website for the details. -It's a really pretty bar. Great liquor selection, long bar, LCD TVs, clean. It's a sleek bar with dive prices. -They have a patio that you can sit in and smoke/drink. At night they turn on heat lamps and it's just mellow. -They're always playing something interesting. Many times it's this cool, weird, random mix of music videos, which is awesome. Sometimes movies, like Reno 911. Sometimes it's stand-up DVDs. Once, they dimmed the lights, started a disco ball, and then began playing sort of softcore porn. -People aren't lecherous/lame/obnoxious. Everyone here has always seemed pretty cool. -Sometimes the bartender will make shots for the bar, just because--and they're on the house. I usually go on Sunday afternoons/early evening. Came here a couple of months ago for a friend's birthday. We waited in line for almost 30 minutes to order a drink only to be told by the bartender that "our bartender" would be with us in a minute. What the hell does that even mean? We were in line just like everyone else and now she tells us she's not going to serve us?! Of course it all made sense when we saw that she had friends sitting at the bar and was talking to them and flirting with them and preferred to cater to them. We asked the other girl who was bartending if she could get us drinks because we had been waiting close to an hour now and she told us the same shit the other bartender had told us (that someone else would be with us in a minute). $7.50 Long Islands and $3 beers and really nice bartenders! How can you beat that? Well these deals could be at a stank dive or a place with lame people but you don't get that here. The place actually looks pretty classy for Bellflower on the inside. I really like the lighting inside and the really great gay art they have on the right hand side wall. Nice to glance at the artistic pictures of bare behinds every now and then. There are several big screens. The place is really clean as are the restrooms which have condom vending machines. These machines also sell sexual position booklets and something called Pandora's box which includes sex toy surprises haha!!!! There's a patio in the rear. On the outside you have cool neon signs proudly displaying rainbows....in Bellflower of all places! WOW!!!! They have a jukebox, a pool table and a dartboard. My Long Island was seriously strong and the next was even stronger!!!! Love the bartender for that haha!!!! He actually brought our second round to us at our table....now that's nice!!!! The same bartender greeted us warmly when we came in. Another bartender greeted us when we left. Flux didn't get five stars because Wednesday is supposedly a happening nite according to other Yelpers but it was slow. NO DJ TONITE after all :( I have heard the DJ is fabulous too :( Also, the bartender was fiddling with the list of songs that was playing whenever lame tunes came on. Kind of ruined it for me. I usually don't make reviews about bars because I'm not one to frequent them often. but flux one the best bars and is a hidden gem in the Long Beach / LA area. While it is a small bar the crowd and staff make up for it. Its always a good night at flux and the outdoor patio is a must! Staff us super welcoming for EVERYONE and the bartender with the bald head is dope! Dj's usually always a great set. As gay bars go, this one is pretty decent, especially if you consider that the only other options for gay bars are downtown Long Beach or West Hollywood. So the location is great because you don't have to drive forever, deal with finding parking (or paying to park), or getting dressed up, and plus the drinks are cheap!! This isn't WeHo, so leave your True Religion jeans at home and do bother to do your make up. In fact most people here are really down to Earth, approachable, and friendly. And did I mention that it's a lot nicer than other local bars, less seedy, and plays good music? You cant really beat this place considering its the ONLY gay bar I know of that I dont have to drive more than 5 miles to get to. There's always Long Beach or WEHO but driving there and back can be a hassle at times unless you live in the area. I had never heard of the bar until recently this year, I first went with a friend on Sundays and it was very chill, bartenders are really nice and make good drinks! I recommend Jerry or Angela! They told me to return on tuesday night for 2 Dollar Tuesday and boy was I glad I did! The place was packed and the drinks were really only 2 bucks all night! (mixer and choice of alcohol) They had plasmas playing videos from everything like Justin Timberlake to madonna. Its a great neighborhood bar and have been going here for quite some time now. Everyone is nice and there's always something happening, Saturday nights they have a dj and dancing and Thursdays they are going to making it ladies night! On the friday night 4/25/2014 i went there was a guy (didnt catch his name) but he was tray selling around some strawberry jello shots. This guy has terrible and has bad customer service. I honestly dont know how he even got a job. He was drinking on the job and he kept yelling insanities. He made many people feel uncomfortable and he got my friend kicked out of this venue because he wouldnt buy a jello shot from him. The place has potential but not until they fix some issues there would i go back. Lets hope Flux gets their act together soon. read more

I've been to a few gay clubs, but this was my first bar, and I have to say I wasn't too disappointed. My bff and I came here after bowling one night to check it out. The atmosphere is pretty laid back when you get there before ten. The later you stay, the more people show up. I've never been on a weekend so I can't really comment on that crowd. There's only one pool table, but it's a good way to meet new people by challenging them to a game (which we did). There were a couple of creepers (it's a bar, of course!) but all in all it's a nice place to get a good, cheap drink and people watch. read more

It almost seems like this place could be in West Hollywood, Silverlake, or Laguna Beach. It's just that cute of a bar with a decent crowd and a well designed layout. It's nicely maintained, well designed and comfortable with plenty of seating and bar space. Has a pleasant staff, and is easily accessible with a little parking lot adjacent the building. I met a great crowd and had a great time with the bartenders. I'd go again but only with friends because I'm not familiar with Lakewood area. read more

I haven't been to the Flux since January 2nd, 2010! My brothers girlfriend took me to my first gay bar on a nice saturday evening, Although I'M NOT a bar person because I don't drink at all but UNLESS if they serve Absinsthe then I'm good but this bar doesn't serve absinthe SADLY, I'm more of a goth/dark wave/deathrock junkie club goer! I remember the bar is very nice (outside & inside), clean, atmosphere is VERY positive, no drama, no fights, no one disrespected me or my brothers girlfriend which is great. Both of us enjoyed the jukebox & we've played pool for a bit. I remember one of the bartenders which I don't think he works there anymore I forgot his name...very buff masculine looking guy, his head shaved off at that time he kinda reminded me of Adam Killian (gay pornstar) yeah he gave us free drinks, very nice guy. So I recomend this place. I never went back again, hopefully I will soon in the future. read more

We had a Surprise Going Away Party for a Friend who was moving to NY and we worked closely with Management & Staff to make sure that our guest were taken care of and everything was perfect! ... they were even flexible to let us play a mini video about our friend during peak hours through out the bar... it was the extra touch we needed to make it a great night! AMAZING drink specials all the time! And that's just DURING THE WEEK! the weekends are a blast to go to they have a great DJ to dance to! A good crowd! they have a pool table which on certain night is actually free! Friday's they have GoGo boy's who are mighty sexy ( and I'm a lesbian!) lol The bartenders are all amazing and total sweethearts! they will all defiantly make you feel right at home and comfortable once you walk in weather your a regular and there all the time or its your first time!
