Great quality at a great price- ya can't beat it! They do it by weight so just fill up your tray/box with whatever you want and pay after they weight it. And all their rolls are interesting too, they're not just your boring classic rolls. This whole tray was only $22! My favorite was the corn and mango Inari. I heard a lot about this place and have wanted to try their Bellevue location but I was fortunate to come to this location since I was around the area. I went on a late afternoon and decided to grab some takeout. I really like this concept where you build your own sushi box in an assembly line. You first grab a takeout box/container and tongs, choose your own single served sushi and weighed at the end. The sign said it was $15 per pound, which imo is a good deal. When I went inside, there was a short line of customers grabbing their favorite sushi. There were large selections of fresh sushi from cooked to raw fish. Definitely a great place for those who like variety. I noticed the workers replenished the trays very quickly and kept the area clean and tidy. Overall, the sushi was delicious! It was very fresh and high quality. For the price, it was definitely worth it when shared amongst two people. One suggestion I have is to have the sushi names displayed out front instead of the back. It will make things easier for customers to read instead of blindly grab what's in front of them. read more

Amazing! Where do I begin? Being able to select fresh sushi and nigiri for a meal is so awesome! You pay by the pound, and can consume right there in their shop. Lines are out the door, but goes quickly. The workers are quick and friendly, too. The food is rotated out fairly often, too. read more

What a brilliant idea, a by-the-pound sushi spot. I've always loved FOB poke so I knew their sushi would be slap. Many selections and everything tasted fresh. I saw the staff constantly bringing out new trays of sushi. Very small interior, it's more of a takeout or sit down and grab a bite spot. Also parking sucks but you make it work! First time trying this place, been seeing it all over the internet. The staff were very friendly and explained as someone who's first time for the experience! The assortment of sushi of different fishes and ingredients helps alert those with specific preferences. The food was delicious and very filling for a good price! My obsession was any salmon sushi which was delicious and savory! The atmosphere was extremely inviting and I would definitely recommend for anyone who likes sushi! read more

Stopped by FOB sushi bar an hour before they closed and while some rolls were nearly gone, this is expected and there was still a lot of variety!! I love how this place is pay by the pound, but every roll looked so good and I was trying not to eat with my eyes too much. I only ended up getting six rolls, and it was such a decent price ($10)!! I know a usual roll comes with eight pieces, but with just two rolls less, I thought I was getting a great deal. Some pieces were also fairly big and I ended up feeling really satisfied and full after! This place is more grab and go, but they also have some counter seating. I ended up dining in and stayed 15 minutes after closing! My friend and I didn't even realize they were closed until we saw the workers cleaning up. It was a bit odd that they didn't warn us or say anything, but it was also nice that they weren't rushing us out. Overall a really decent spot for sushi lovers on a budget!! read more

This is a new hot spot in town, been wanting to try it but don't make it downtown for lunch too often. Today I had a meeting that happened to be in the same building, immediately noticed it because of the line out the door. Ambiance - clean, smaller space. Maybe a handful of seats, definitely a grab and go kind of place. Service - on point, as certain rolls ran out, there was someone there to immediately refill it. Food - sushi was solid. Is it the best? No but for walk up sushi it's pretty damn good. Put it on par with Japonessa, maybe even a step up. Value - Only issue with this place is the pricing. Their whole thing is you self serve and pay by weight, $15/lbs. I paid $24 for 9 pieces of sushi and 3 poke bombs. For the same amount I can get 3 rolls at japonessa, AYCE at a sumo or trappers. $10/lbs. feels alot more appropriate, spending $25-$30 on lunch isn't a good value for me. Solid 3.8 for me! read more

Undoubtedly my favorite sushi place in Seattle. I love the build-you-own-plate concept and all of the options they have are always so good. It is my go to spot for sushi. Been a fan of FOB Poke and I feel like their food is always very fresh and have never had anyyy problems with it. read more

I was always so sad that I couldn't try FOB Sushi Bar after all the hype that it got from social media and my friends because it is closed on Saturdays, but today it was sunny and I was available to take a little trip to Westlake to try it out finally!! I also noticed that they have a sign that says they're open every day now? The self serve sushi sold by the pound is definitely a new concept for a place, and coupled with the reasonable price, makes this place a hit. You are able to fill your little platter up with as many pieces of rolls, inari, and nigiri as you want. They also include labels with what each piece is. The rolls are the first thing on the line, then inari, then the nigiri. It's soo easy to get carried away with what to get. The employees are constantly refilling the sushi bar as well, so you are able to get anything they offer. Like all the reviews say, the fish is so fresh! The sushi rice also had good flavor and wasn't hard. They do put more rice in their sushi than I would personally prefer, but everything was still delicious. I like all of the variety that they have for you to pick from! I didn't expect to have to decide between so many pieces. For the quality and price point, I think FOB Sushi is great! I definitely recommend coming here if you want to get sushi for a quick meal. The only downside is that since this is in Westlake, there is very little parking. Although, if you take the Link it's only a short walk from the station! I definitely will be coming here more often. read more

Heard about this place over on IG and been hearing it from family and friends as well, so I guess I had to try it. If you've ever been to any take out spot like Market Fresh that sells food by the pound, then you'd be familiar with the set up. You get in line and grab your container which is a plastic black tray (They have two sizes, but they look similar so it's easy to confuse them for the same size). Then you grab a tong and start grabbing pieces of sushi at the bar to fill your tray. At the end, your trays get weighed to get the cost of your sushi. You can grab canned and bottled drinks in the fridge as well. I like how organized and straight forward this all was. The sushi was pretty good. I recommend getting the rolls and inari since the nigiri tends to just be packed with rice from what I noticed. That rice adds a lot to the weight, but if you can't help but get a seared salmon or unagi nigiri, I won't judge you. Those are pretty good. This is definitely more of a take out spot since it has very limited seating. Definitely great for lunch if you work in the area like the Amazon folks. I think the price of it is very fair and I like how I can get a variety instead of sticking with one giant roll of the same sushi. The place is really good at refilling the sushi bar too, so there's never a moment that I saw any of the sushi at the bar completely empty. I'd definitely would go back. read more

Oh my goddddd yes. I love this concept but I also love this quality, variety, and pricing. Specialty rolls but you don't need to commit to a whole roll. This is how it should be. The items were well stocked, love the complimentary sauces and ginger they have readily available. Service was nothing out of the ordinary. I'd come back again definitely. ohhhh my goodness so yummy!! it was genuinely the best sushi i've had in my life (caveat that i haven't yet been to japan or tried omakase yet). As in, I think in my entire life this is the best quality fish I've had + well crafted combinations of ingredients. i'm a huge sucker for variety always, so the system here is my heaven. you can def eat it there but it's really well suited to takeout -- they package it well and the seating is somewhat limited. read more

One of the best sushi places in Seattle for the variety and quality of the fish. You pay per pound. We love their salmon inari. Each piece was stuffed with fish. So many different yummy rolls for you to pick from. You really cannot go wrong. Definitely one of the places I bring anyone visiting Seattle! Quick service and ambiance was fine. It's such a shame they went through so much controversy because this place is bomb. The location is in DT Seattle. There is usually a line, but you're not waiting for that long. Upon going in, you got multiple boxes to choose from. Then the hardest part, which sushi pieces to pick. I always get so excited so I just pick one of each to try. The flavor is better than some of the sit-down sushi restaurants I've been too. They have eel sauce and spicy mayo at the end. Spicy mayo is like crack lol. I'm addicted. You can eat inside, but it's small. I always take mine to go. This place is such a gem and I would hate for people to judge it because of social media. It's really good and I don't think there's any place that does it like FOB sushi. I would 100% recommend. read more

A first timer trying out this place because of all the hype on Tik Tok. Drove 50 minutes to check this restaurant out and it was simply alright. Ordered a few different rolls to go, a box of Sushi rolls and the rice was pretty mushy for the most part. Flavors were good, but rice didn't seem freshly made or all that tasty. Loved the concept. It's a great place if you love sampling different types of sushi. Everything I tried was so fresh and delicious. It's reasonably priced too, I got a huge portion for only $11. There was a long line when I got there but it moves pretty quickly, which helps in making sure the sushi is fresh too. They have a few tables by the window but they were mostly taken. Sushi by the pound is AMAZING!! You can try new rolls a piece at a time. It's in a nice location, downtown Seattle. Parking is challenging but worth it. Customer service is great. We were greeted right away and asked if it was our first time. We were then shown what to do and where to start. Majority was pretty much self serve. Drinks are water or canned and bottled drinks. Quality of sushi is really good especially for the price! Wide array of rolls and nigiri to choose from. Bathrooms are clean and you have to be escorted there since it's in a shared space in a building. A must try in Seattle for some sushi on the go! read more

Hell yeah, good food and price for the quality & variety. Although i dont think id want to wait another 30+ minutes again (i did because i happened to be listening to a podcast and i wasnt too hungry yet so it was a good way to wait out). I went on a weekday at 7:15pm and the line was already past the corner of the building stairs. Thankfully i and most folks who lined up behind me got our food. I like how efficient the self serve sushi bar is and of course i cant forget to mention the variety of sushi they have here. I liked how the staff members kept coming out to check how many people were in line so they can prep the right amount of food before closing. Im not sure how the food freshness compares during off peak hours but they also throw out anything that was sitting for 4+ hours. read more

Heard about this place through social platforms and it turns out it was within walking distance from our hotel by the Space Needle. We were excited to try it out based on the reviews and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Although it was a hole in the wall with limited seating, we were lucky to grab seats by the window as it was just before the dinner rush. The concept of paying by the pound is pretty fun and genius, as you get to try different rolls by the piece. There was a good variety of rolls that were creative and of course nigiri. After seeing all of the TikToks circulating on my FYP and on my Beli feed, I knew that I had to try out FOB Sushi Bar when I visited Seattle, and I'm glad that I did. I think I'm generally pretty particular about the sushi that I eat, and I LOVED FOB. Part of the appeal was definitely the concept of FOB (almost like a buffet; you choose the pieces that you want, and you pay by the pound); I love trying a variety of things, rather than getting more of one thing, and I love sushi, so this was the perfect restaurant for me LMFAO. FOB has a good variety of types of sushi as well, ranging from nigiris to rolls, and there were both raw/cooked fish options as well. If you go during rush hour, it's likely that you won't find much seating indoors, but there's plenty of people who take their boxes and sit on the stairs outside the restaurant to enjoy. Line generally goes by pretty fast as well. read more

such a cool concept that i hadn't seen before coming from a california resident. the sushi wasn't bad for the price but i would say there's a bit too much rice in all the orders i got. the flavor was pretty good and lots of options as well. there was bar like seatings + tables inside/ outdoor. service was also fast and efficient. they also had a sauce bar with eel sauce, spicy mayo, and ginger along with soy sauce and wasabi packets. read more

FOB poke bar is one of my favorite places to grab a quick meal, so when I found out they had opened a new sushi spot (was seeing it all over social media XD), I knew I had to check it out!! The concept is pay by pound - you're free to grab nigiris/rolls self serve style and it costs $15.99/pound. My tray came out to be $15 for ~10 items which is an insane deal! The line on a Friday at 6pm took around 15 mins. Even though you would think the line should move faster, it takes time for them to refill the items, which is what stalls the line. There is minimal seating, but most people were getting takeout, so we could easily find a spot. The fish was fresh and good quality. My favorites were the chutoro and salmon nigiri... so sweet and yummy :) Most of the sushi roll pieces I tried were also really good! The combination of flavors was interesting and having an ample amount of fish made it really enjoyable. I love the concept of this place, as you can try a variety of items. Food quality and service were also great! I will definitely be back again soon :) read more

Love this concept of being able to try out a variety of pieces (I'll be back to try the sushi next). For the two boxes, the total came out to ~$24 which is not bad at all. Fair warning, they do pack a mouthful of rice for the nigiri. The fish is fresh but don't come in here expecting super high quality fish- you get what you paid for (I was a little too excited because of all the reviews I had read). Very affordable as far as sushi goes. My advice would be to not go too crazy with rolls, since it will make your box weigh more. The nigiri is all strategically placed at the end. (For reference, all together the food pictured was about 2.5 pounds.) The inside was clean, but a little dark and lacking in ambiance. There's a small seating area outside that's very nice on sunny days. The line moved quickly and the checkout was efficient. My only issue with the food was that a lot of it was heavily seasoned, even the nigiri. It was still tasty, but I wish there had been a few more traditional/"plain" options :) read more

I almost didn't want to review this place so it'd stay a secret for longer.. but nevertheless here I am :) I am absolutely in love with this spot! Whoever decided to make the sushi by the pound concept real has my greatest appreciation. I absolutely love sushi and am the type of person who likes to try a little of everything, so this concept is absolutely perfect. You get to pick whatever pieces you want and fill up your tray, and that's it! I got quite an assortment of items, but don't remember the names of them all. They were however, absolutely delicious and all the fish was super fresh! The salmon nigiri and spicy tuna rolls were two of my favorite. Whenever I'm craving sushi again I'm definitely stopping here. I don't think you can find much more for the same quality and price around here! read more

OMG, FOB Sushi is the new place in Belltown and it is the best. I've never seen sushi by the pound before, but they are killing this concept. You start by picking up a plate. The bar area is a self-serve where you move through and pick up whatever item you want. They have tons of options, including rolls, inari sushi, and nigiri (no sashimi when I went). The pieces are HUGE, with plenty of fish. The price is amazing... a box of 6 huge pieces was just about $10 or $11. I wasn't full after my first box so I got a couple more pieces, but it was a pretty economical meal. Two qualms... 1, there is barely any seating so you would probably want to treat this as a to-go meal. 2, during rush hour in the evening the line gets very backed up. The kitchen releases a new set of sushi and it is snatched up nearly immediately. I'd recommend not going during a busy hour so you don't have to wait for your food to come out. read more

FOB sushi is a solid place for a quick bite with great value. It is a "price by pound" establishment. On average, it cost about $40 between my husband and I. We've always felt full and satisfied after. It has a wide selection of nigiri and hand rolls. Our favorite is the seared salmon with the chili crisp. There's someone about the chili crisp. If they told the chili crisp by the jar, I'd be the first to buy it. Wait time can range from 5 minutes-20 minutes. Sometimes there's limited seating inside. During the summer it's nice to enjoy it a a park nearby. I know there was some controversy with cleanliness and I can't speak for others but from our experience we've had no issue. They're always wiping the counters and making sure everything is orderly. read more

My husband and I have gotten sushi from here several times now, and we always get over $100 of sushi. Too bad they don't have sashimi anymore, but the nigiri and roll options are great. Quality of the otoro is just ok, but enticing else is pretty nice and fresh. For this price and selection, we can't complain. How accessible is this place? I have a group of 6 w/ 1 person using a wheelchair or at least a walker and stairs are tough. Looks like seating is limited (2 top tables). Feasible to request making a 6 top table or is there somewhere nearby to go?

I would not recommend this spot for your group. There's steps to navigate and I'm sure there's a ramp. Parking can be challenging and seating is counter space only. Have you been to Ti22 which is further north on 4th Ave.?

There were only about 4-5 pieces of nigiri that tasted fresh and clean; the white fish that you start with in particular were just not a fun texture or flavor. The shellfish course and sweet shrimp were solid though. Unfortunately, besides the fish, the rice was a total flop too. It just felt dried out as if they had been pre portioned well ahead of time and under seasoned. Part of the joy of a course menu, if you want slightly warm / room temperature rice against the cool fish, but you get zero of that contrast here.

Our food tour was very intimate, just the two of us plus the guide. One of the restaurants we visited was called Shiro. We arrived mid-afternoon, while the restaurant was closed to the public. We were each served two pieces of Nigiri and told the story about Shiro. The two pieces that we were served were phenomenal and the story fascinating. We found out when Chef Shiro would be working next and cancelled another dinner reservation so we could try more of his food. When we arrived before opening time, there was already a woman waiting at the door. After us, a Seattle software engineer and three of his Canadian co-workers arrived. We had all arrived early because sitting at the bar in front of Shiro was on a first come, first served basis, reservations were not taken for that privilege. The year after we dined, we read that Shiro had retired. We were so disappointed that we would not get to eat his food again. Then we learned that Shiro opened a new restaurant and we planned on making a trip up to Seattle. Twelve years later, we finally made it. Reservations were made through opentable.com two months in advance. We wanted the Omakase, sitting at the bar, in front of the Master. Well, when we arrived, we found that Shiro only works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. (sigh) Still, we had a great meal prepared by an amazing chef who hailed from Laos, whose name escapes me now. We had a pretty good conversation despite the background noise from the rest of the restaurant. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from my pictures. We asked for and received a menu list that detailed what we were being served. If you take the time to look at the photo captions, you can follow along with the menu list to see what each fish looked like. And then, on our way out, there was Shiro! FOB Sushi was an amazing experience! From the moment you step inside, you're able to see all the sushi options that you're able to grab by the pound. The concept might seem unconventional, but really, it's brilliant. You have the freedom to mix and match your favorite rolls without feeling restricted by set combos. Every bite is a flavor explosion. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the rice is perfectly seasoned. The price was reasonable as well at around 15$ a pound. I like that you can just pick out what you want and be on your way. That said, I did get food poisoning the first time I tried it about six months ago, which was a pretty rough experience. The name, which stands for "Fresh Off the Boat," is a term often used to describe recent Asian immigrants, but the owner has reappropriated it to signify Fast, Fresh, & Affordable sushi served buffet-style by the pound. Finally it's open!! What a cool concept! Pay by the pound!? Believe me they r not a cheap rolls. They even have Chutoro which is tuna belly, so buttery and melt in my mouth. They r not stingy about the fish, big slices and good quality. I can't get enough of this place. Will definitely come back to try for more. They have so many selection to choose, and so fresh. The menu has great variety, so there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is cozy and modern, and the staff is super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better.
