Creme Brulee
Marla G.

I come to this restaurant very often since Brazilian steakhouses are my favorite. This time around, I actually enjoyed the salad bar more. They keep adding more and more options, which I liked. The meat was delicious as usual, but we didn't get enough rotation. It felt like the same 3 servers were going back and forth trying to bring out different cuts, which made it take forever just to get something different. What really disappointed me was the service. Brazilian steakhouses usually take pride in customer service and etiquette, but as soon as we were seated, our waitress had an attitude and was dismissive toward the table. That sucked especially since this was my birthday dinner. Toward the end, another server, Johnny, was also disrespectful. I asked about my military discount, and he came back only applying it to my experience and nothing else, even though I was with a group of military friends and we had already stated that. When I questioned it, he responded with "well that's the only ID I saw" with an attitude. I understand if policies change, but I've been here many times and have never been asked to verify everyone's ID for the discount. All he had to do was ask and do his job with a little more respect. We corrected the issue and my friends showed their IDs, he still only discounted a portion, and when he came back, he still had an attitude. There's plenty of Brazilian steakhouses in SA that provide great service all around.

Was able to come out and try this incredible Brazilian steakhouse staff was super friendly and kind and the place had a amazing atmosphere to it You get your little placement card and people come around with various cuts of meats that you can try when you are full or wanna take a break. You just flip your little card over and the meat will stop coming to you. I believe it was maybe $50 for the 14 types of meats plus all you can eat salad bar For the amount of food and quality that you are getting, I think it is pretty reasonable in terms of price. The salad bar is also incredibly stocked with cheeses and meats and a good variety of fresh ingredients. Will definitely be coming back here again

Amazing selection of fresh foods and perfectly tender meats. Although I did not eat the full churrasco experience for dietary reasons, I treated my parents to it and they as seasoned carnivores found the cuts cooked to perfection. The service is impeccable and very clean atmosphere.

This restaurant is right on the river walk and has a view. The service was good and engaging because I sat at the bar. I went during the day around 3pm but there wasn't many people at that time. The bartender was nice and recommended a drink. The food is good just like any other Fogo de Chao. I had the lamp chops and my regular cocktails from their menu. I will try out the new north location since this location didn't have a lot of people.

Best experience celebrated my cousins birthday... I want to recognize Joe was an amazing server was very attentive to everything (he wasn't our main server) but he was on top of everything and with all smile all the way till the end very good meats and salad bar also 100% recommended I don't recommend the new one by six flags that one is horrible service and food

First date here and he spared no expense. The ambiance was amazing. The service was amazing and so was the food. We went fairly late so there weren't many patrons so the wait staff really took time with us as it was both our first time there. We didn't have a single bad item. To top it all off, that night was a breezy, beautiful summer evening in downtown SA. I'll definitely come again.

The amazing chilled lobster and shrimp appetizer.

TLDR: Excellent restaurant, even if you're not into red meat... There's plenty of places in Texas that do a mean steak - so we tried FDC for the seafood! Parking is easy enough at the surrounding garages but expect to walk a half-block or more to get to the restaurant. This is a semi-upscale kind of place, where you can arrive casually but there are no booths available. It's also right on the Riverwalk, but I didn't spot any tables that could take advantage of the view. Still, if you need a candid shot just go outside. Service was top-notch though I can see how they could get overwhelmed when the dinner service really hits. That, or we just got lucky. We tried their chilled lobster and shrimp appetizer, which was excellent, as was the grilled Chilean sea bass. The show-stealer turned out to be their creme brulee, which was big enough for two! Definite two-thumbs up for upscale dining on the Riverwalk! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Is this All You Can Eat Buffet?

It's not a buffet but it's all you can eat

How close is it to the River Walk?

It's right above it!

Is there lunch prices on the weekend? What's the time?

Brunch prices. Less than dinner prices.

How is the experience if you enjoy well done meat?

It's a great experience. From well done, to rare and everything in between. Delicious.

Is there a kids menu?

Seems like a few items were available for kids at lower cost. I personally find this place awesome for the bottomless pit that teenage youth become!

Ok but am I able to order all of the meat WELL DONE?

Why would you order well done at a steak house. Yuck

Is there valet parking?

No valet parking is needed. Parking structure is close by right next door. Not expensive park too for downtown.

Is the 35$ special going on for this month of January 2021?

Yes, but dinner only... I just posted a picture

Can I conceal carry? Or only SAPD off duty can't?

Not sure. Depends if the business allows it. If it's posted then no, but if there's no sign your good to carry. However, that law (30.06/30.07) doesn't apply to law enforcement check out Article 2.1305.

Are babies welcome?

Yes!

What time is happy hour?

We shared the red snapper and a steak cooked medium, and both were done perfectly. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and exactly how we ordered it. Overall, just a really nice dinner experience. Good food, great atmosphere, and definitely a spot I would come back to when visiting San Antonio again.

I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets busy fast. The prices are on the higher side, and my husband felt his Old Fashioned was a bit watered down compared to similar drinks we've had at other restaurants. On the plus side, our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. We ordered the pork tenderloin, ribeye, and shrimp and grits with a creamy gravy sauce. Every single dish was delicious. I'm pretty picky when it comes to steak, but the ribeye really impressed me: it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The shrimp and grits were another standout. The creamy sauce was rich and incredibly tasty, with just a hint of spice that added flavor without being overwhelming. As someone who doesn't enjoy very spicy food, I thought it was just right. Overall, despite the crowded atmosphere and slightly disappointing cocktail, the food was excellent and definitely the highlight of our visit. We'd happily come back for another meal.

Overall, I'd say most of the people in our group probably would not go back, but I don't necessarily think that was because the food was bad or lacking flavor. Those were definitely the standout parts of the meal for our group. Some of the dishes in between were a little more questionable for us personally -- we tried everything, but there wasn't necessarily one specific dish we completely fell in love with. That being said, the experience itself was amazing. The atmosphere was so cool and unlike anything we had done before. Being served course after course and getting to experience so many different dishes made the meal feel really unique and memorable. All of the staff members who waited on us were absolutely fantastic and so understanding of some of our questioning looks while trying unfamiliar foods. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the experience feel fun and comfortable from start to finish. If you already love Mediterranean food, this place may be right up your alley. I just think it's good to know what kind of flavor profiles to expect before coming, especially if you're newer to this type of cuisine. Overall, we still had a great time there.

Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made the evening feel relaxed and welcoming. We started by sharing several dishes, all of which were spot on: Pears and Greens salad with lardons, frisée, arugula, radicchio, endive, Danish blue, and bacon vin - $16. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. My dining companions enjoyed a variety of wonderfully prepared cocktails while I stuck with a Topo Chico. I still felt right at home. Overall, Bar Loretta felt like a world away from the tourist-heavy spots along the River Walk. Dining out has gotten so expensive lately and too often the food or service does not justify the price. But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. This restaurant has been here for about 50 years now and it's definitely showing it's age…read more Half the sign wasn't working. It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.
