You come here for food, but the service is always top-notch as the Brazilians know how to treat their customers.

I couldn't tell you a thing about this restaurant as when we went in, the hostess didn't even greet us and just asked us with her vocal fry California accent "How mahneeeee..." We told her "2 please". The waiter who was standing with her doing absolutely nothing couldn't be bothered to acknowledge our existence and was so busy tending to all the unoccupied tables he had time to lolly-gag at the hostess stand. She then replied "Yahhhh. Thaht's going to be lyke...45 minutes?" As if she were asking me instead of telling me. I kindly counted over her shoulder and noted the 12 unoccupied tables and almost the entire unoccupied bar which and informed her. She just stared blankly back at me as if I were made of badgers teeth, so we just left. I would award 0 stars, but I would lyke I guess...this is lyke...how this new generation treats customers or lyke...something? Rock solid 0 stars. (:-|)

We bought Texas de Brazil gift cards at Costco which was a good deal, and celebrated our and our friends' anniversaries here. Reservations are recommended and I mentioned the special occasion for celebrations. Located in downtown on Houston Street, parking was limited to a paid lot adjacent to the restaurant. The restaurant does not validate. Walked into the restaurant and it was beautifully decorated with warm colors and gorgeous large flower arrangement pieces. The flowers appeared real, but were not. We were seated near the salad bar and greeted immediately by our server. Our 530pm reservations just happened to be during happy hour, therefore all drinks were 1/2 off! I got a passion fruit margarita and it was awesome. The salad bar was fantastic. All veggies, salads fruits, and meats were beautifully displayed and delicious. As in the past at previous Brazilian steak houses, you do not want to fill up too much on the salad bar, cuz ya gotta keep space for the endless amounts of various meats that are brought to the table. : D Green card up.... get set, various cuts of meat were non stop- Picanha, chicken, lamb, sirloin, pork, sausage, ribs.. All well seasoned , I was so thirsty that night and the day after lol We did wish they offered some seafood options for ex: grilled shrimp or cuts of salmon, like other Brazilian houses we've been to. I had mentioned to our server about our anniversaries, but no mention or comp dessert was offered. We ordered a chocolate mousse cake which was decadent and deelish. I do not expect a full blown dessert, but a small dessert to share would have been a nice touch. Good food, good service, and reasonable for the unlimited salad bar and meats.

Oh WOW! We are visiting from California to see my son at Texas State University. We wanted Texas Brazilian Meat while we visited. I love this place for a bunch of reasons. I listed a few below 1. Shout out to our server Javier and his manager. Great job! 2. Clean area 3. Great food 4. Friendly staff 5. I'm stuffed every time 6. I love meat Advice ... arrive early before the crowd! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

What is wrong with this picture ?

We have been to nearly every steakhouse in san antonio and this has been the worst by far. Our server did not greet us, the manager tried to rectify it by giving us the run down of how the experience worked but the table was not ready to dine. It took about 20 minutes to even get water. Our server was in a horrible mood and only checked in on us twice. He asked "are we done?" towards the end of our meal with a rude tone and didnt even offer us dessert. This was an anniversary dinner for us and it did not feel welcoming or special for us. (Half the meat we got was well done)

My husband and I spent Valentine's Day here and had amazing service! We had reservations and were seated even a little earlier than expected. It was crowded, but nothing that made it uncomfortable. Our servers were friendly and helpful for it being our first time here! We've been to all of the competitors and this is definitely second on our list now of favorite Brazilian steakhouses. I loved the ambiance of the place, very beautiful and inviting. However, I do wish seating was further apart.

Texas De Brazil is a great Brazilian steakhouse to visit.restaurant. Our server, Javier, was very generous with his time by making sure that we were well taken care of. If you're going on a weekend, make sure to get there early with a reservation since the place fills up fast. The meats were great and on spot with cooked temperatureI ordered a filet mignon rare and it came rare as expected. The salad buffet was very good too. It had a Mediterranean theme of sorts with a cold and hot bar selections.

I circled this so the waiter could see it was a special occasion that went unnoticed!

Is there a dress code to eat here?

Hi, thanks for reaching out! Our dress code is smart/business casual, but jeans are fine!

Is the salad bar still available or are they bringing out a plate of salad?

Yes it is!!! You follow a line to the salad bar! And it was amazing!

To start off they serve you bread with a pickled jalapeno cream cheese dip which was the chef (owner?) mother's recipe. So good. I had the lamb chops which were devine. Once we arrive at the restaurant we were greeted like VIPs. We were asked a few times if we were there for a special occasion and I mentioned we were there for our anniversary. We were congratulated and that was it. No other "special" treatment or offers because it was our anniversary. The service, the food, and the overall atmosphere were great. No complaints at all. My only issue was this, as we were preparing to pay the bill, a couple (white couple) was seated next to us and they were asked if they were there to celebrate a special occasion, and she said, "it's our anniversary" and the waiter then offered them a complimentary bottle (or glasses) of champagne! Wait, what??? I thought to myself, nobody offered us (a black couple) any complimentary champagne. A different person came to the table to take my credit card and I asked him about it. He did apologize and offered to bring us a couple of glasses of champagne but it was too late. We were done eating/celebrating and it was time to go home. I was 3 weeks from recovering from heart surgery and this was my first time out in the public to eat since my surgery and I didn't want to let not getting a bottle or glass of champagne ruin my evening with my Queen. This incident it want led me to giving 4 stars instead of 5. How can one couple be offered complimentary champagne and another couple not offered any at all???

It seems like reservations are encouraged. At every visit, the servers greeted me with water and asked for my dietary preferences. You can tell that the servers all work together as I had other servers stop by to pack up my food and refill my water. I do love how they offer to pack up my leftovers and do so very nicely. 1st visit: My server was a sweetheart, very attentive, and super nice! I made reservations for 5PM on a Friday. I was one of the first to arrive, but the restaurant quickly filled up. I opted for the Mezas De Alegria, the server brought out Tirshi, Roasted Cabbage, Steamed Red Snapper, and Olive Oil Cake! All were very tasty, my favorites being the Tirshi and Steamed Red Snapped! I also ordered the Greek Wine flight, I enjoyed the Troupis wine best! Out of all of my dining experiences, this was by far my favorite! 2nd visit: My server was also attentive and kind. This time, I didn't make a reservation, I just walked in but was able to be seated at 11AM on a Sunday. I opted the for Turkish Brunch and the Mint Limonada, and they were able to accommodate my dietary preference! Everything was good once again, my favorites were the Grilled Olive and Tomato Salad, Fire Roasted Peppers, and Shakshuka. The Mint Limonada was too sweet for my preference, I had to water it down with some water. 3rd visit: My most recent server was very sweet and kind but wasn't as attentive. I made reservations for 5PM on Friday. She got held up by a table nearby a couple of times. I tried items from the Culinaria Restaurant Week Menu (Armenian Salad, Texas Waygu Kebabs, and Local Fruit Sorbet) Everything was soo good and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Armenian Salad. The Texas Waygu Kebabs were good, but a little chewy for my preference. They were cooked about Med-Well/Well done, though I prefer my beef to be cooked Medium, but I wasn't asked about my preference. I also wasn't given a steak knife and tried to wait for my server, but she was with another table for a while. I had to use my butter knife... The Local fruit sorbet was very refreshing and a light dessert to end my evening. Overall, great experiences, flavor-packed food! I enjoy Mediterranean food, so I'll be back to try more items off their menu!

Or something a bit classier. Service was mediocre, a bit overbearing to be honest with multiple pushes for us to order more. We tried the butternut squash dip, the spicy feta, the hummus, roasted corn and the lamb ribs. We also got 2 spitz and 2 beer. Total for four people with tip was about 95 bucks which is fair. We had a vegetarian at our table so they brought out veggies to dip as well which was nice. My favorite was the roasted corn and the surprisingly the feta. It was enough to be full. Lamb was fatty but flavored nicely.

But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.
