Our first visit to Bob's was a couple of days after Valentine's Day 2026. What we experienced may be the best quality dining experience we have had. The Open Table reservation allowed us an option to designate our visit as an anniversary. I recommend this feature (if appropriate), as it led to ambiance features that enhanced the occasion. The ribeye and filet menu items we chose were cooked to the specified flavor and tenderness that we were seeking, and the roasted Brussel sprouts were a perfect complement. The dessert we enjoyed was bread pudding and vanilla ice cream, an exceptional dish. Our server, Ray, was very perceptive and anticipated many things that demonstrate instinct and made our anniversary meal extraordinary. I have read (and written) many reviews that give quantitative measures of remarkable service, but I rarely see a server described as a phenom of skill and adaptability. Every little thing was commensurate and accommodated our pace and prospect. This was the 2nd time I was here and my husband 1st experience. It was his birthday and we were looking to enjoy an excellent steak dinner. However, it was a disappointment despite its high rating. My husband ordered a New York strip cooked medium-plus, and it arrived bloody red. We sent it back--twice--and by the third attempt, the steak was completely overcooked and chewy. To make matters worse, they took the steak and left the side dish so by now it was already cold. At the least they should have offered to return with a brand new steak with fresh side dish. It would have been still acceptable. For the steakhouse and they can't even cook the steak right. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of expectations. read more

Always a good time to be had at Bobs! Been here a few times once on my own dollar and a couple times for work. No matter what the food is pretty consistent and the service is great. It's a tad bit too dark in the restaurant but ok in the meeting rooms. Bathrooms are well kept. read more

I think they keep the place very dark for a good reason. So you can't see your food. No one had their food cooked right. A steak came out practically raw for a medium well. They messed up the allergies, the service was terrible. It took forever to get water and drinks. Refills were non existent. The sides were cold and had little flavor for one a the other was so overwhelming that no one could eat it. I'm actually shocked that they are open. It seems The Rim address code gives restaurants the promises of high prices but no vision for the food and no responsibility for service. It's exhausting as a patron. I wish people would be more honest with their reviews and save the rest of us time, money and embarrassment from taking business associates, family and friends to these establishments. read more

The onions were battered perfectly & crsipy! The brissels sprouts were good but some pieces were a little to charred for my liking. I ordered the ribeye. It was very fatty but delicious! You definitely get your money worth at this place! But, keep in mind they are one of the only places you can get Prime or above steak in San Antonio. We went here for a birthday dinner, and splurged or anything and everything we could have wanted for the two of us. We started with thr fried cauliflower with the avocado crema which was to die for. We both got the 12oz wagyu filet mignon. It was tender, juicy, and cooked exactly how we ordered it. Our server was awesome and made sure we were well informed on the entirety of the menu so we made the best choice for us! The drinks were very good, smooth, and automatic doubles, so you get your value there as compared to other places. I ordered a Moctail, as I had to work after the dinner. It was a Vanilla flavored drink that was delicious. Our CEO or someone ordered 2 "sampler" plates of their appetizers which had thick cut Bacon, bacon wrapped shrimp with jalapeños, lamb lollipops, and fried lobster bites, all very delicious. For dinner I ordered the 14oz Prime Ribeye which came with a glazed carrot and I chose the skillet fried potatoes with gravy. The table ordered Mac and cheese along with Brussel Sprouts. Everything was very delicious and I was so full I couldn't order dessert. First off, there is valet parking (free) and I recommend tipping. They hold the door open to welcome you to Bob's, a nice touch! As far as ambiance, the lighting is just right, and the decor is warm and inviting. At the hostess station, the sweetest ladies welcome you, and show you to your table. Upon being seated, be prepared for some excellent service, among the tops for the San Antonio area for sure! A loaf of warm bread and butter is brought to the table, and drinks if desired - and I recommend the martini - Lemon Drop - and also the Old Fashioned. Crab Cake app? Yes, please! There is only one, but it is a generous size. Also, the scallop appetizer, three scallops with Nueske's bacon at the bottom of each scallop and a drizzle of sauce. These apps were the best I have had! I loved my filet mignon - all meats are prime, and perfectly seared and finished. The plate comes with a large carrot and choice of potato. The service is so wonderful, food is great, but be prepared to spend roughly $50 per plate, and $18-34 per appetizer. Drinks are around $13-18 each, for a top shelf mixed cocktail. It is a big spend, so celebrate and enjoy your time at Bob's. read more

Never in my 20 years of performing for corporate events have I come across a service staff so incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was hired to perform at a corporate event here and was met immediately with hostility from an event manager. Instead of basic coordination, he responded with irritation, told me I couldn't bring essential sound equipment, escalated the interaction, and attempted to intimidate me by saying he'd tell the client not to hire me! Later, during a break, the bartender was rude and made assumptions rather than asking simple questions. To top it off, the same manager publicly confronted me in front of patrons and staff, creating a hostile and uncomfortable work environment. I will never dine here or bring business here again. Such a disaster from start to finish. This location has serious service and quality issues. We are regulars at the Plano location (near Dallas) and this San Antonio location pales in comparison. We have tried this location twice and the service is just horrendous. The waiters are so confused. The steak quality here is no where near the Plano location. We recently had our Christmas Eve dinner at Bob's, and the main courses were excellent and the service by the main waiter was superb. I did want to mention though that we were going to order appetizers and one of the waiter helpers suggested we get their platters and suggested 2 for 8 people. It was way too much food and Little did we know they were mostly all fried items and were in total $500 for the platters. I was shocked! What we wanted to order would have been $100 at most and much healthier. I felt at the end of the night we were bamboozled by this waiter. The positive part was that we took almost one whole platter home and gave it to a homeless lady the next day. The drinks also were not good at all. Not a craft cocktail bar at all. I don't think anyone at the table was impressed by any of the drinks. The head waiter, Russel, I believe was his name, was great. He wasn't around when the platters were ordered. I truly believe he would have been more honest. We choose a different place every year and this will be one we won't do again. read more

All 5 of our steaks were overcooked one was so overcooked it was taken back but replaced with another overcooked "Prime " steak!! I like how dim lit it is, but it is hard to see, so, if you have not so good vision like me, just be careful and be prepared. It is pricey but for only going on special occasions it's not so bad. I had never heard of this place until recently, and I finally got a chance to go check it out! It's quite dark inside, but upscale. Excellent menu. The wines that I tried were really nice quality. The salad I had (mixed salad) was perfect. I ordered the duck and it was good. I wish I'd gotten the sauce on the side, because it comes smothered in the sauce. But it was still good! We got the berries & whip cream for a light dessert & loved it. Our server James was wonderful & so helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. The steak had good flavor but was so tough I almost had to request a welder's torch to cut it. While the others order ribeyes they came out paper thin and and less tasty. Dont order the smashed potato unless you are looking for mashed potatoes. And by all means stay away from the peppered potato gravy unless all you want to taste is pepper. Service was marginal and we had to ask multiple times for our drinks to be refilled. Not to mention the gutter mouth woman in the next table over dropping F Bombs every other word. I have passed this unassuming, non-descript building many times over the years on my way to Maggianos, BJ's, Lupe Tortilla, or 54th Street Grill. I finally stopped by on Tuesday night and discovered for myself this gem. I waited way too long. Inside, two smartly dressed managers, with an air of elegant hospitality had a striking effect you don't find at most restaurants. We were asked of we preferred a booth or table and taken to a booth where the manager Steve provided us menus while a server removed the extra tableware from our booth. With each gesture, the experience was elevated. Hector was our server, he anticipated our every need, attentive without obtruding. He kept our glasses full and cleared the table of unused dishes to make room for what's next. The employees work very well as a team, completely focused on the guest experience, no less than five employees came to the table during the evening to provide refills or bring plates. The food was good too. I had the 9 oz filet mignon with smashed potatoes. We also tried the mac n cheese and sauteed nushrooms. The tequila cocktails were not the best I've had, let's say they were adequate. Next time I will switch it up to explore the menu. I loved the blue cheese salad with pecans! read more

Definitely worth going to this restaurant! I loved the atmosphere and the employees are very hospitable and kind. I also really liked how though the restaurant was "fancy", your attire doesn't need to be suit and tie. Food was a 11/10 for sure! I didn't want a lot of food so I got the lamb lollipops (which is usually an appetizer, but it's 8 oz of lamb based on what the waiter said) and the lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was tender and easy to chew, no heavy taste like some other places I've had. The macaroni and cheese was phenomenal. I am huge Mac n cheese fan and have been since I was a child so finding a Mac n cheese that I actually like isn't as easy as you would think. I was very pleased with the flavor and gooey cheese melted on my tongue and crunch of the broiled and crumb top was delicious. Our server, Ernesto, greeted us promptly and provided excellent service the entire meal. Had a prosecco and martini to start - both great. Declined the gratis huge, fresh loaf of bread that smelled fantastic to save space for the meal to come. Spouse had the tomatoes and onion salad, I had the tomatoes and mozzarella to start. Both great, quite large, but lacking a more "exciting" dressing. Somewhat watery and very light oil/vinegar enhancement - only thing I would like to see improved. No complaint about the quality of the tomatoes, onions and cheese. We shared the prime filet (2x4 oz medallions) and lobster tail. Ordered the medallions medium rare and the lobster tail fried. Medallions were probably more than 4 oz each and cooked perfectly, the fried lobster tail to die for. The medallions were probably the best steak we have had at a restaurant in quite a while - even in our hometown of Houston. Came with a large baked potato with everything and glazed carrots. Overall a meal and experience more than worth the price of admission. read more
