This place is a wonderful place to bring a family. Gracious hosts and very cute atmosphere. On site dining options are lovely and equally as accommodating - generous portions and excellently seasoned. They held an easter egg hunt and called us to make sure we could have our kids participate. The spacious Train Depot lodge was a beautiful place to host a family of 15 (many had their own lodges, but the living spaces are quite large for hosting). The host treated us like family and the restaurant accommodated our kids every need - what more could I ask for? I'll tell you, my extended family offered some very unfair criticisms and behaved quite poorly, and the host continued to behave graciously. read more

My 100th review - a perfect evening with my husband, at a perfect restaurant with fantastic staff. What a great way to celebrate. First off - What a renovation! We hadn't eaten here since before covid and then the restaurant underwent a major renovation which looks wonderful. Bright and airy and the staff was fabulous. Special thanks to our server (Aylissa) and the bartender who both took fabulous care of us for our entire dining experience. We tried the Sweet Potato and Goat Cheese appetizer and it was astonishing. We also had a fabulous roasted squash and the winner of the meal was their over the top Scallops which just melted in your mouth. Finished it off with the Raspberry Oreo Tart which was fabulous. But the shocker was the Pineapple Rum Baba which was a flavor explosion in your mouth. A very nice atmosphere with a courteous and efficient staff. The hot Cajun seafood dip was outstanding and the calamari very fresh ....... Ribeye, Filet Mignon, Salmon and Seared Halibut were served as entrees and the consensus overall was very good with the exception of slightly too salty on the salmon. Summary: The staff are good and the food is whatever but it's a ripoff for what you pay. The Good: The setting is very nice and the wait staff were pleasant and helpful. The lobster bisque at $17 was good and the appetizers were out quickly. The cake at $12 was decent. The Bad: The entrées and appetizers are incredibly overpriced. The seafood pasta at $48 was 95% pasta with three chunks of lobster, three mediocre shrimp, and several tiny scallops. The boar meatballs appetizer at $24 yields two meatballs in plain marinara-style sauce and two pieces of toast. The Ugly: I love seafood and have cooked both shrimp and lobster myself, so I think the shrimp was okay but the lobster was very overcooked and tough. The pasta sauce had no discernable flavor beyond a hint of heat and tomato. I think it was canned marinara with some chili crisp sauce, very basic. I don't know enough about scallops to review them but they were okay in my opinion. Even though the free bread is free, it seemed to be the kind you would get at H-E-B that's all stuck together in the little squares and then warmed up. Altogether the check was $110 before the tip and without any drinks. I've had far better food at a much nicer place for less than that price including the tip and drinks! I recommend you find a bistro offsite instead. read more

I wanted a fancy dinner for my last weekend in San Antonio and had been disappointed by many restaurants folks suggested on the River walk so I decided to try something outside of downtown. I found antlers lodge on google and made my reservation for 1. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's very old school with hints of modern. Very regal. I sat facing the fireplace for the view. I ordered the cioppino for the entree, a strawberry mule, a s'mores martini, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The presentation for the cocktails was beautiful! The strawberry mule had a strawberry flavored smoke bubble on top of it and the s'mores martini was toasted at the table and I got to blow out the flames to bring that campfire effect. Both cocktails were delicious! The cioppino was so yummy! Had great flavor, just the right amount of salt and large portions of seafood. The crostini was great dipped in the broth. The star was the sticky toffee pudding though. I guess they don't put it on the menu but one of the staff recommended it to me and I just had to try it. I never had it before and it was out of this world! Perfect balance of sweet, salty, great texture and creamy vanilla ice cream to tie it all together. It paired very well with my s'mores martini. The staff was amazing as well. There were multiple people who came to check on me throughout my meal making me feel like a valued customer. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious, intimate dining experience! read more

We were there at lunchtime and it was extremely busy. Wait staff was running as fast as they could. We were visiting with friends we hadn't seen in a long time, do it just gave us more time to talk. What we didn't like was people who were clearly staying at hotel in extremely casual clothes. The person next to me came in with dripping wet hair. Antler's Lodge has gone from superb to awful!!! Have been dining at Antler's Lodge over 20 years. This was our go to restaurant for special occasions, holiday meals, and out of town guests. We were there on 11-27-25. The food was well below sub-par. The pork loin my husband ordered was tough, my salad was covered with almost straight vinegar. The table service was 5 star but the restaurant food served was awful. This is (was) an upscale restaurant. One table had two small children screaming on the top of their lungs loud. I spoke to the Manager, his response was "this is a family resort". We were seated at the far end of the restaurant and could not hear one another over the screaming children. You have been warned, stay away. You can do much better. read more

The ambiance was really cool and calm. Went on a Tuesday night and it was very relaxing! The waiter was really nice and helpful, and clear in the explanation of different dishes. We started with the crab cakes which were actually extremely satisfying. Paired with the sauce given, it was eaten pretty quickly. My wife got the scallops and she believed the textures were slightly overcooked giving it a rubbery texture and wasn't as seasoned/flavorful as she'd hoped. As for me, I got the Lone star bone in ribeye. I enjoyed the portion, and the texture was pretty satisfying. I was hoping for a more flavorful taste of seasoning however received more of the natural flavor. Due to this, when you would taste the hints of salt/pepper it definitely enhanced the taste of the meat more, but not what I was expecting. Lastly, we were celebrating her birthday and received a complimentary dessert which was a pineapple cheesecake. Presentation was top tier especially as a fan of cheesecake I have an expectation of the visual. So when this came out, we were already intrigued. Let me start off by explaining the middle of the road rating. The noise at the restaurant was over the top for me. I love vibrant restaurants but not when my expectation is for a quiet luxurious experience. The food was wonderful. I had the vegetable Wellington. I am not a vegetarian but wasn't in the mood for meat/fish. It was beautifully presented and delicious. The mixed grill, per my husband, was fantastic. I would highly recommend the bison meatballs in the pomodoro sauce made a delightful, slightly spicy starter, The smoky old fashion was spot on. The wait staff were delightful. Glad to post a positive update to our previous visit. We returned to attempt to experience a wonderful dinner that we have come to know over the years and were not disappointed. The positive energy from all servers we encountered was a complete 180 from previous experience. Food was out in a timely and friendly manner. On to the food, the updated menu has some fabulous items. The Hot Cajun crab dip is a must. Scallops with pressed jalapeño on top and steak cooked to perfection. Pork bellies with pickled okra on top was an unexpected complement on flavor. The best part was dessert. Can't leave without trying the Sticky Toffee pudding and ice cream.
