Outstanding Mexican Steakhouse! Perfect for date nights, special occasions! The meat was all seasoned well. Alcohol drinks were great! Our server went through the menu for it being our first time and he was extremely helpful! Only wish was salsa as an appetizer.. otherwise will be coming back again and again! Hidden gem!

Great service and ambiance. First time here so took the waitresses recommendations. Food was very good (pricey but good)

I booked a reservation through open table, a credit card is required to put on file. If you reschedule or cancel/no show with less than 24 hour notice it is a $25 per person fee. We got seated right away even though we were 30 minutes early. Thanks to the nice lady who helped even though she wasn't our server. Presentation on the food was on point. The potato chips they greet you with were so addicting. The water glasses smelled weird though. Food was delicious, service was good but not amazing. Gratuity was automatically included, total came out to $132 all together. Restrooms were absolutely gross for such a nice restaurant. And that's was with us being there at the start of the day at 10:30 am.

Visited Tu Asador on a Tuesday evening with my partner. We were greeted warmly by the host, who was very friendly and made a great first impression. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and provided detailed recommendations, which we appreciated. I decided on the enchiladas suizas, while my partner opted for the New York strip. There were a few hiccups with our drink orders. I requested a Diet Coke, but it tasted like regular Coke. My partner ordered a ginger ale, but instead, the waitress checked his ID and brought him a shot of Jägermeister--quite unexpected! He also ordered a tamarind lemonade based on the waitress's suggestion but was served cucumber lemonade instead. We suspect a language barrier may have contributed to these mix-ups. As for the food, the enchiladas and steak were both good--no complaints there. Overall, it was a mixed experience. While I'm not sure I'd return, it might be worth a try if you're nearby and in the mood for something different.

The Experience with ribeye and grilled vegetables.

I was visiting San Antonio and I found myself craving a good steak, but not from fancy restaurant like Ruth's Chris. The front desk at my hotel recommended Tu Asador, which I am glad they did. The staff welcoming and hospitable. I was seated quickly with my drink order taken and chips brought to the table. The service was great throughout my visit (no complaints). The atmosphere was elegant and comfortable all at once. While there aren't any white tablecloths, the resturant would be good for date night as well as family outings. I ordered a glass of the house red and since it was happy hour, I received a free appetizer. Today's was chunks of grilled beef with a tangy bite - all good. I ordered the "Experience" with ribeye (always the best cut in my opinion) and grilled vegetables. The meal was served on a wood cutting board, which added a nice accent to the meal. The meat was cooked well, but did have some tendons (which is not uncommon with ribeye cuts). The veggies were spot on and the quesadillas complimented the meal well. All-in-all, this place scratched my itch. If I actually lived in San Antonio, I would certainly visit this restaurant again and again.

We came here for an early dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a large parking lot. We got in before the dinner rush and were sat right away. It got pretty busy by the time we left. We got complementary chips and hot sauce. Our server was great and made excellent recommendations. My wife got the enchiladas suizas and I got the sirloin and charro beans. We both enjoyed our food and the portions were huge. I liked that my steak came with a little pile of salt on the cutting board.

The food here is absolutely amazing and the service is top notch! I'm a sucker for fresh guacamole and this place gives me just that. Who knew something so simple could be so delicious! The drinks are always on point. I hate going somewhere for "drinks" and what I order comes back tasting like juice. Koodos to the bartenders! The shot flights are an absolute must to try. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Perfect spot for a date night or small gathering with family/friends.

I wish this were a better experience. I had heard wonderful things about Tu Asador and was excited to try it. We came at 6pm on a Wednesday. I empathized with our server because it seemed like he had a lot of tables and was all over the restaurant. We started with the chicharrones de bistec and they were lukewarm. It had good flavor but just surprising since they said they cook everything to order. I also ordered my little one's kids meal. He wanted the hot dog. It came out and the skin was crispy but the meat inside was cold when I cut it in half for him. It seems like they made it ahead of time and did a quick reheat. We had to flag down another food runner to get water and drink refills. Our waiter didn't write down our order and that was a sign that we'd be in for some surprises. I got the wrong dish for the arrechera but just kept it because the food took awhile to get out. My mom got a steak, but it was cold and overdone, so we sent that back and it came back 15 minutes later but it was delicious the second time around. I had the arrechera and it was just okay. Very fatty and not the melt in the mouth meat that I've had before when I was in Monterrey. The meat was lukewarm. The Frijoles (beans) were okay but again they were cold. My dad had the NY Strip and it was cooked and seasoned well. Overall, an underwhelming experience for a place that got so much hype and it's on the pricey side. I wouldn't mind paying for a good meal but this wasn't anything to write home about and nothing make me want to come back again. Everything was a la carte even the salsa (1$ for a small ramekin) and tortilla chips ($3 for small bowl). Again the server was friendly, but you could tell he was overwhelmed. Appreciated his efforts. $160 for 3 adults and one child not including any alcohol. We could get a better steak for less elsewhere. Glad I tried it, but again wouldn't come back anytime soon.

Enchiladas Regias, with onions and queso blanco. The papitas are mui bueno. Gracias Arturo and Tu Asador!

For a norteno Monterrey vibe, check this place out. I had the enchildas regias and they are the closest to the ones I have eaten in Monterrey (Neuvo Leon, Mex.) Arturo was very knowledgeable and enthusiasticly presented the available meat cuts and style of preparation. I had only the enchildas today but I will be back to try the steaks!

We opted for the option of Zucchini instead of chicken and the locally made flour tortillas (lard free). We got double beans (lard free and vegan) and skipped the rice (not vegetarian). The mole was on the less complex side maybe from ones we have had but still very good and comforting an had a great texture. Good food and the service was excellent. I am not one to remember the name of a waiter and include that in my reviews generally but Armando was too awesome to forget and the owner Carlos was so wonderful. I really loved their table salsa here in particular and the owner very kindly sent me home with some. I really liked how clear they were in answering questions and how friendly and welcoming. Awesome place. Note that they have a split plate fee if a dish is plated on two plates. They didn't charge us the added fee since we didn't ask for it to be split so if you want to avoid that when sharing- order not as a split plate. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Of course since we're in San…read moreAntonio, Tex-Mex was going to be the choice of restaurants to pick from and this place won via tiebreaker during our team vote. It's safe to say everyone was more than satisfied with this place after dining here. Let's start with the drinks here. As with any Tex-Mex spot in SA, it comes down to margaritas; and this place does it exquisitely. Some of us arrived early to take advantage of the happy hour margarita prices ($5/margarita during HH) where you can get it frozen or on the rocks. Many of us decided on frozen since the texas heat was full blast outside. These are tasty and presented well with a nice blend of tequila flavor. Since these are prepared in house and through a margarita machine, the bartenders kept them coming and gave us a reminder when HH would end (from 3pm to 6pm FYI) so we could get one more order in before it ended. Right when HH ended, we were led to our table which accommodated all 12 of us. It's strongly encouraged to make reservations via OpenTable and definitely call if you're gonna have reservations of 8+ people. Fortunately when I spoke with them earlier that morning, they made sure our table was ready around 6. Since that's when HH ended and we had a few drinks in us, many of us were buzzing and ready to feast after we were seated. Upon being served the complimentary chips and salsa, we also ordered table-side guacamole and ceviche for the table which we all scarfed down. The guacamole uses lime AND orange which gives a nice sweet citrus finish to the spiciness of the jalapeno and creaminess of the avocados. The ceviche included an assortment of fish, cilantro, onion, and tomato in a lime juice/oil marinade. This was refreshing and the fish very tender. Definitely recommend putting the guacamole on top of it on either one of the crackers or chips so your taste buds can really explode. Both are signature appetizers and should be considered upon being seated. Now for entrees, there was a combination of dishes people ordered and everyone loved them all. Several people ordered chicken/beef/combo fajitas which come steaming hot on the skillet and served with flour (or corn) tortillas. These definitely smelled incredible and tasted just as good according to the ones who ordered it. A couple others ordered enchiladas, mainly the enchiladas divorciadas where one is covered in green salsa, the other in red. These were also a popular hit due to the different salsas and the enchiladas were very tender and filling. Other items such as the nachos topped with shrimp, the chicken flautas, and the Chile Rennano stuffed pepper all were devoured. I had the Pollo con Mole which had that cocoa flavor I love from Mole. The chicken was very tender and the poblano rice was a nice compliment. After our meals, we were served complimentary tres leches cake; a perfect ending to the meal. The cake was complimentary as a result of the Spurs winning their match up against the Portland Trailblazers and closing out the series. Thank you Spurs! This was one of the best team dinners I've had; the one where every single person couldn't stop raving about the food, drinks, atmosphere, and the experience. I forgot our servers name but she was incredible and made sure we got what we needed. No doubt we'll be returning here again for some Tex Mex and more of those delicious margaritas! Muchas Gracias Paloma Blanca!
