My wife took our 2005 Escalade with 70,000 miles because we had a coolant leak. Guy told my wife it was a blown head gasket and a bad water pump. Quoted $3,100.00. Got a second opinion from an auto repair shop down the street and turns out it was only a bad water pump and cost $700.00 to fix... it's really not cool to take advantage of people like that. read more

Horrible service! They charged us $60 and did not fix the car or give us any kind of solution. The car was overheating and they held on to the car for almost a week then called us and told us there was no solution or even steps to a solution. I have three kids and we only have two cars. It was already hard enough to go a week without our second car but then to have them tell us they can't fix the problem and give us no steps to a solution is ridiculous. Sad part is there were two problems it could have been and one that was the most common. He could have offered to fix the most common and we would have paid for it. But instead I paid $60 and now I have a car that is still overheating. They gave us no discount, apology or anything. Their loss. We are loyal customers and we will continue to go back to a businesas long as the service is good. We also paid for a transmission repair for a total of $600. Will not be going back. UPDATE- Gets even better. Took it to a trusted family mechanic who is across town. Appears the problem was related to a repair Folsom Autotech did for us last year. They replaced the fan and didn't tie a connector down properly which caused it to melt and this was what was causing the overheating problem. So not only did they charge us to not fix our problem. They are the ones that caused it by doing poor work! Please avoid them! And Mark I did not post this review to the wrong shop. It's under my husband's name. Positive this is the right place. I can even post the bill if you would like. And if you don't have record of a overheating problem you could not fix maybe your mechanics should be communicating to you better. read more

Being back in Folsom for the holidays, the old car gave out. I was using it for work here so took it to the dudes at nearby Folsom Autotech. They were busy and couldn't fit me in but then someone canceled. They saw my car and said it needed a new drive train or drive shaft something like that. Unfortunately that damn thing goes for like a grand. I decided to do it and let them have it. They had to wait for the part which took a few days because of the holidays. They did let me bother them one time 5 minutes before closing so I could grab some junk outta my car. Once the part arrived Friday afternoon they tossed it in and had it back to me before closing time. They even honored a coupon I somehow lost. Overall I was pleased. Maybe I could've took it somewhere else and got it cheaper. Maybe someone could've done it faster. But they guys did good by me and I appreciate the work. read more

Horrible customer service. We had an appointment at 11.30 but due to unforeseen circumstances we were 15 minutes late. So, I can understand a little bit of frustration. Upon arrival, we were asked to provide details for billing. During this process, as we were spelling out our name, they didn't get it right and the retort to us was "English is not your first language". I was shocked at this attitude towards a customer, verging on the line of being racist and insensitive. These words were followed by snide remarks to almost every question we had about our car. Needless to say, we took our car somewhere else. I will also make sure, our friends don't visit this shop either. No-one is doing anyone a favor in this scenario to take such a tone. These guys took great care of me. My Honda was overheating and I had it towed to Folsom Autotech. They discovered that I had a cracked engine block. However, they also researched that this is a known problem and Honda will do a warranty repair for free. They got all the warranty paperwork for me, called the Honda Dealer to let them know I'm coming in for this big repair, and then gave me a ride to work. They then got my car running well enough that I could safely drive it 5 miles to the dealer. After all of this they actually apologized for having to charge me the $65 minimum service charge. Hey guys, you helped me get a new $5000 engine for free. I'm glad to pay $65 for that kind of service. I signed up for Yelp just to give these folks a good review. They deserve it. read more

Do not take your vehicle this place. I have taken my car here several times. Everything seemed okay the first couple times and I was pleased with their service. Just this past month I took my car in because I knew there was a crack in the radiator. I dropped my car off and received a call later that day. They informed me that my radiator had cracked as I had expected. They also told me that it had caused damage to my engine and that I would need to replace the head gasket and open up my engine to look for further damage. They told me the damages were estimated at a minimum of $2500. This didn't seem right to me. I took my car to another mechanic that a friend uses in Roseville. It turns out my radiator was cracked but there was no issue with the head gasket and my engine was just fine. All I needed was a new radiator. Folsom Autotech tried to take advantage of having a young girl bring her car in to get it fixed. If you're going to bring your car here make sure you know a little something about cars so that they don't rip you off! read more

I had my brake pads replaced here about a year ago. The price was less than the dealership and about the same as another quote I'd gotten from another independent garage. I have had no problems with the brakes since. When I dropped the car off they gave me a ride back to work, and when they were done a few hours later they picked me back up to come get the car. Excellent service! Very knowledgeable. Very comprehensive oil change process which included a checklist to make sure my car was safe. I had been taking my car to Big O for oil changes but they missed noticing things that should have been obvious to them. I'd rather pay a little more on oil changes with Folsom Autotech to make sure they are giving me advance notice on issues that will need attention. We've taken all of our vehicles to Folsom Autotech for the last 24 years, and their family owned business has the only local mechanics we trust. We've gotten all kinds of bad advice, suggestions, and quotes from local dealers, tire shops, out of town mechanids, etc. over the years, and then taken our vehicles back to Folsom Autotech for real guidance that always turns out to be honest and trustworthy. What I like most about them is their flexibility and understanding around each vehicle's purpose. When our kids were small, they made sure we never broke down with little kids in the car. When our teenager's were driving old "beaters," they were really good about helping us keep them safe, without fixing every little problem. We were always comfortable having our daughter take vehicles in for repair because they are all gentlemen, took the time to explain everything to her in a way she could understand, and never tried to push her into a repair she wasn't comfortable with. When we've worked with local dealers, we've often had to take vehicles back multiple times because the problem was fixed, but something was missed when they re-assembled the vehicle. Every repair we've ever had done by Folsom Autotech has been complete, fixed the problem the first time, and hasn't needed any follow-up. They are a full service shop, doing everything from oil changes to major engine repairs, with the exception of tire sales. I think their prices are very reasonable, considering they cost less than the dealers (but who doesn't?), they guarantee all of their work, I've never had a vehicle under their care break down, and I've never had to return a vehicle for the same problem. As I was driving from San Francisco to Salt Lake City, the emergency brake light keeps beeping when emergency brake is not engaged. It would annoyed me to drive all the way to Utah with that beeping noise, so I stopped by Folsom Autotech. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They tried to fix the problem, but they couldn't find the part anywhere in the Sacramento area, however, they did a temporary fix, which got me to Utah without anymore issues. I came in for an alignment after a recommendation from a tire dealer. They checked the car in 15 minutes and found no need for an alignment, but they still charged me $90 for an alignment that I never got. They said the alignment was for all 4 wheels. I had only one tire that was slightly off. When I was surprised that they were going to charge me the full amount for basically just checking the car, I was shocked. Last year these guys Ripped me off. Be wary. I called to find out if they could do a 30K service on my subaru forester and was given an estimate in the mid $400s about the same price as the dealer but more conveniently located. So I brought the car in and the paperwork was $461 for the estimate. I received a call a couple hours later stating they needed special fluids and that would be $580 plus if I wanted to do the other recommended items it would be over a $1000. I had them stop work immediately and they still charged me $120 for changing the oil and air filter and supposedly inspecting the brakes and undercarriage. I took the car to the dealer and the car only needed the maintenance items done which they did at the original price minus the oil. read more

I have rented a uHaul truck from this place before with no problems, and the location was great for our needs, but today was a disappointment. Our reservation for the truck was for 1200, but as most people know, moving is stressful and unforeseen circumstances come up often during the process. We showed up at 1:00 and there were two men behind the desk, one on a computer doing what looked like bookkeeping or something, and the other asked what we could be helped with when we walked in (appropriate response to a customer walking into an establishment). When we said we were there to pick up a truck, the response was an immediate "your reservation was at noon, I'm on lunch, come back at 2". I could maybe understand giving the reservation up to someone else who wanted to rent the truck at 1:00, but there clearly weren't any takers and it wouldn't have taken very much time at all to get us going on our way with the truck. We aren't renting from this place ever again. If the employee had asked us to please come back at another time without the attitude and scorn, we would have. Customer service isn't a priority at this establishment. read more
