Had a great date night here with my husband. We got there a little too late to get food but the bartender gave us some suggestions of where to go. We ended up eating across the street and came back. This bar has a lot of personality for sure. The mounted animals on the wall were pretty interesting. We were Google image searching the portraits on the bar wall and found a lot of the men were outlaws with some pretty interesting stories. The service was very friendly and the drinks were a great price. We stayed long enough for the place to turn into a club. Country music is always a good time so we stayed even longer to enjoy some dancing before heading home. Our date started at 6pm and ended around 12am. read more

If I could give this review no stars I would.. On Sunday 4/30/2023 my boyfriend and I were leaving dinner at The Fat Rabbit on Sutter Street and decided to grab a drink and play the big Jenga at Folsom Hotel (a bar I usually love to spend my evenings at). We ordered a margarita each and proceeded outside to the courtyard area to play Jenga. After one game a group of Ukrainian students walked in and showed interest in learning how to play the game. All except one person in the group spoke English and it was still broken and he had trouble understanding us at times, however, we played a few games with them, teaching them to rules and just all around having a blast. After a few games, an off-the-clock employee named Anthony came outside and yelled at some of the Ukrainian students for "walking onto private property". He yelled, "Get off the private property or you can get the f**k out". I was not sure what he was referring to since all the students were in the courtyard area still, some might have wandered around just taking in the scenery and playing cornhole. My boyfriend and I tried to explain to him that they did not speak English and if he could use a more respectful approach that would be appreciated. He told my boyfriend and me that he "did not give a f**k and he doesn't need to be nice, that if we have a problem with it, we can get the f**k out". At this point my boyfriend and I were visibly upset; I decided to approach Anthony and again try to explain to him that the students don't speak English and we do not have a problem abiding by the rules. He told me he was "super drunk and that the men who work behind the bar are worse than him and will not be accepting of my boyfriend, me, and the group of students." Anthony and I talked calmly for about 5 minutes when my boyfriend decided to walk up and check in on me to ensure I was okay. The moment my boyfriend walked up and asked if I was okay and I said "Yes I was fine", Anthony sarcastically said to my boyfriend "Are you okay?" to which my boyfriend replied, "We are good". Anthony did not like my boyfriend's response and started yelling at me saying "If your boyfriend does not shut his smart-ass mouth, I will knock him the f**k out". I immediately realized nothing was going to get through to this employee named Anthony and we decided to leave the bar. I then filed a complaint with Folsom PD which my brother-in-law works for. I have NEVER been treated so poorly by an establishment before and was thoroughly embarrassed that this is how we treat foreign exchange students and regular customers. I also tried filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but the bar is not BBB accredited. So here I am filing a complaint via Yelp/Google. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Tuesday. The service was great (one person served from the menu and bar) and she had the perfect amount of humor. I had the Dam Bleu burger, and my husband had the mac and cheese with the "special" sauce. Both delicious. And the French fries are true perfection! My husband and I had never been here before but we decide to stop by after dinner for a friends birthday. The people at the door were rude for absolutely no reason. Hard to come back from a horrible first impression. When I got to the door there was a $5 copay, so I handed the girl $20 and said I'd like to pay for me and the 3 people behind me. She seemed not to understand and I had to point at each person and count "$5, $10, $15, $20" so then when my husband comes to her last she asks him for $5. After he says I already paid she finally lets him through and says "maybe she should've said who she paid for." How does this not happen all the time? Obviously me and the following 3 people in line. What's the disconnect? And honestly why be rude? Other than that it was a bunch of 20 something's and packed to the max. Why would we ever go back? read more

I pop in now and then for a drink. It's best during the day, or on a slow weeknight. Weekends are packed, and it can feel hostile. The reason I'm writing this now though is that there is a rude waitress/bartender with a crappy attitude. As a point of identification, she's older, probably 40's or 50's, where as all of the other employees seem to be in their 20's, or early 30's at best. This one seemed pissed off at the world, was rude to people who were standing in her way, even though they didn't realize it. It was hot as hell, and they don't have central AC. One bartender asked her to get some water for a customer who had been waiting, and she replied, 'I'm not your bar back!', shaking her head and begrudgingly getting him the water. How about taking care of customers instead of feeling put out by a simple request for water? Or, get a job where you don't have to deal with humans. read more

Wow... totally impressed with the new look of Folsom Hotel Saloon... The days of the dive bar and heavy wood chairs are gone. So impressed with the seating... yes I said seating... they use to have like 2 tables 6 chairs and bar seating, but now they have couches, arm chairs and tables with chairs and nice floor rugs and still plenty of stools at the bar as well as outside seating areas. The bartender was very up beat and she knows how to pour a glass of wine.... bravo...They also are now serving Temple coffee... wow... my favorite...for that mid day pick me up. A must stop in when you are in Old Folsom and see the new look of the Folsom Hotel Saloon and have a drink or a latte. Jon Taffer would be proud. read more

I was pushed and shoved as my group was walking out the door. I then told the gentlemen to never put his hands on me nor any female, he then continued to shove and push. We tried the Folsom Hotel Saloon for lunch this week. Seemed like a fun bar with lots of old time ambiance. Good seating both inside and out. My lady and I both ordered a glass of wine. For me a Josh Cab and for her the Chardonnay. We received very "fair pours" from the friendly bartender. There were a handful of patrons in the Saloon when we were there ............ good group of folks ... a lot of joking around. I tried the Beer Cheeseburger ..... delicious. It was topped with house made beer cheese, bacon, jalapenos and crispy onion strings. This meal included a side of French fries, prepared to perfection . My partner decided upon the Tri-Tipped Sandwich. This included included sliced cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, arugula and horseradish aioli. Her meal was served with house made potato chips along with a tasty onion dip. She approved. Not sure what this place is like at night but it was very good for our lunch date. read more

Drinks, Dancing, Relaxing, live music, or even Stand Up night, this is a must stop in the Old Folsom circuit. Every night has a different vibe, I love Sundays with the live music and a cheap cocktail in the afternoon. I have been here on a packed Saturday night with a party crowd as well as a quite Tuesday with the regulars just chilling. This is my favorite dive-y bar around. I would love to stay in the hotel sometime but for now I will settle for the stool at the busy bar. read more

I went there last night and first of all: my wife and I bought two $30 shots and when the bill came, it was almost $100. I pointed it out to the bartender that these other drinks on the receipt were not ours. She then said that the people who ordered before us bought those and walked away so she put it on our bill. Unreal! She seemed annoyed to remove the extra charges. We left just after midnight. I then was notified of a $15 charge to my card (which I had in my possession) at 1:54 am, about 90 minutes after we left. This $15 charge doesn't add up to any of our two purchases and doesn't match the tip. I have tried contacting this business with no luck. This place is super sketchy. I will be filing a report with my bank since this place is impossible to contact. Now I know why. It makes sense to try and do this to people who have been drinking hoping they won't notice the extra charge. Update: the unauthorized $15 charge posted and increased to a $17 fraudulent charge. I have tried over and over on different days and times to call them at their phone number listed online and everywhere (916)985-2530 to attempt to speak to someone about their criminal activity. No one ever answers the phone and there is no way to leave a message. I emailed them at the email address listed on their website and the email gets sent back as undeliverable. I filed a fraud report with my bank and I was refunded by my bank and they will decide whether or not to take action against them. F**K this establishment they are a bunch of criminals that literally steal money and get away with it. read more
