HELL NO! last night I watched the security guard beat this guys face in the ground after a very aggressively held choke hold. I really thought the security guard was going to kill him right there. The guys hands were up in the choke hold and wasn't fighting back. I immediately left the place after I watched security repeatedly punch him in face while the guy just lays there! THATS BATTERY!! If you're looking for a bartending job with ZERO experience, and you're a young, hot female, you're hired! You don't even need to pay attention to the customers; you can hang out on your phone the whole time and do shots of tequila with your fellow workers, all while customers are waiting patently for you to do your job and get them a drink. You'd think a bar offering an array of bourbons would have an old fashioned that'd knock your socks off, but again, the bartenders are vapid and have no bartending skills, so don't expect good drinks. I decided I was better off switching to a light beer and asked what they had...the bimbotender gave me a PBR, describing it as a "light" beer. Ummmmm....what? Smdh. The new FoHo ownership does not care about providing good service, so come for the music, but keep your expectations low...nope, lower....now go even lower than that. There you go. read more

Folsom Hotel is back and better than ever!! It's been tastefully updated and the food is a LOT better than it was before they closed for COVID. We had the tri-tip and mac and cheese. Both were absolutely amazing! Service was fast and the staff is friendly. I love a chatty bartender but not too chatty if you know what I mean. They (a man and a woman) were the perfect balance of small talk and leaving us alone so we could enjoy our lunch. The cook even came out of the kitchen to ask if the food was okay and if we needed anything else. They definitely never had that level of service before covid with the old owners. read more

Came here on a Friday night for drinks and dancing. It's super similar to Goldfields in Sacramento, just a little less crowded. The line to get in went pretty fast. There were mainly younger people in their 20s here. The drinks were okay... one bartender made the worst mule I've ever had (it tasted nothing like a mule) and then another bartender made a pretty good one. So it just depends on the bartender you get. They had a dj who mainly played country music. He played a few mainstream songs, then went back to country. I wish he had played more upbeat country songs, he played a lot that were slow and awkward to dance to. The dance floor wasn't super crowded, even later in the night. This place is huge! There's a huge balcony in the back and then steps down to a corn hole area. Security was great, there were several throughout the entire place and outside. One downside is that there are only 3 single-person bathrooms. The line can get kinda long. But we had fun and will definitely be back again! read more

Casual fun with lots of old time ambiance. This saloon has great service, great drinks, and some pretty great local live music, making it great to get your dance on. Came here on a recent Saturday with a few friends, and I had the worst most humiliating experience ever. A tall girl skinny dark hair girl working there was so rude to my friend she spilled the drink that was ordered and under her breath she said some pretty foul things that we took as racists. My friend is African American and I believe the bartender was judging us she took a really long time to even help us and then was so pushy and seemed bothered we were even there. Loved the decor of this hotel bar, straight out of the Old West traditions of saloons and cathouses. The men's bathroom is decorated almost entirely with John Wayne imagery (and all the more reason to drop your drawers and deploy your "Rooster Cogburn"). Buyer beware- was there last Saturday for my first time and the bartender decided to add an extra tip for herself on my credit card when I checked my statement. THEFT. Too much of a hassle to deal with the credit card and business didn't pick up when I tried to call about it. I have been here for a night out several times with friends and we also frequent there other establishment Goldfields in Sacramento. As a nice gesture to military veterans which my friends and I are they don't charge a cover fee if you show your veteran ID. In 2021 the California DMV started printing VETERAN in bold letters on your drivers license. This is found both on the dmv website and the Cal vet website. When we showed up my friend and I showed our drivers liscense reflecting that we are indeed veterans while our other friend still carries his actual military ID. The bouncer checking ID' s took one look at our ID's and said "Ive never seen this, this doesn't count, I cant accept it". I proceeded too inform him that he was mistaken and this is our state of California drivers license and I'm sorry if he isn't aware but the state started doing this in 2021. The bouncer proceeded to argue with me which was embarrassing and frankly insulting to my friends and I since he was clearly incorrect and rude about the whole thing. Normally I would have just taken my business elsewhere, but since we frequent there other location and that staff knows how to properly check ID's this was ridiculous. If you don't know, go ask someone who does. But telling a customer they are wrong and they need to pay , because you aren't aware of what the states modern ID's look like is unacceptable . The bouncer tried to strong arm my friends and I rather than just checking with a superior. Once another bouncer came over he took one look, and said " Ya these are fine". Definitely not the way we wanted to start the night off. No veteran likes asking for a freebie, but not paying a cover is a nice touch that we admire about these bars. If your going to offer it, know how to enforce it. read more

Went with a friend on Saturday afternoon for bloody marys and food. Never again! Drink was awful, bartender was rude and food took over 45 minutes we ended up having to get it to go.There was no one in there so not sure why it would have taken so long. They didn't have half the things on their menu to begin with. Got home and our side of potatoes consisted of 10 tiny pieces of overcooked potatoes and the smallest breakfast burrito I have ever seen. One fourth of July, friends and I visited the Folsom Hotel. It was the year that black women nationwide were shimmying up state capitol flagpoles & ripping down Confederate flags that had been casting shadows on public institutions. We were feeling quite patriotic upon entering this establishment. But then... straight ahead... a young thug in a fully confed flag t-shirt was shuffling around the bar. What? He's wearing the losing team's colors on game night? While chatting up the butch doorman, we learned this kid was often provocative. He frequently dressed to get a reaction. Never one to disappoint, I sidled up to the kid, ran my hand up his arm and asked him if he wore a confederate flag t-shirt tonight in the hopes that a fit black woman would climb on him and tear it off. He didn't get it. His friends about peed their pants. I've never seen anyone wear crap like that since. The Folsom Hotel often has fun music, cheap drinks, and generally good company. read more

We stopped here last night around 5:30. We ordered a beer and a cocktail. The drinks were served in plastic cups. The waitress was a young blonde women. My friend asked the waitress why the drinks were in plastic cups. She said that's how they serve drinks on Friday and Saturday night. She then jerked my beer from in front of me. Beer spilled all over my phone and the bar top. She never apologized at all. She put the drinks in glasses and immediately starting barking out "cash or charge" ? She said this around three times. She was very rude. I would describe her as angry women. We are both very good tippers 20-25%. I told my friend she shouldn't get any tip. I've never stiffed a server. He still left her 25%. I don't have words for this place. The worst pour I have ever experienced for $9.00. The glass of Jameson's on the rocks was pathetic. No alcohol, all ice. No wonder nobody was here on a Football Sunday at noon. The place was a ghost town. I get that Folsom only has the Sutter Club as a great place to get drinks and enjoy a game. Drinks are overpriced and extremely small. If you want a shot glass sized mixed drink for the price of a double, then this is your spot. Bar tender was extremely rude. The atmosphere is cool, very crowded in a small space on a weekend night, but there are many better locations where they will give you a normal sized drink and actually have a smile on their face when ordering and treat the customer nice. read more

A fun place that I frequent when I'm visiting my folks. I've come to the Folsom Hotel Saloon quite often when I meet my friend here. We've had some memorable times here, like the time there was a barroom brawl, drunken patrons singing at the bar... I happened to notice today there was a sign saying they serve Temple coffee, yay. Since there are NO coffee shops (what's up with that?!) in historic downtown Folsom I had to go in and try it. It was ok, a little weak but glad they offered it at least;-) read more

My friend and I decided to stop in for a couple of refreshing ciders after our hike. We couldn't resist the old charm of the Folsom Hotel. We had a fantastic time here. The bartenders were so sweet. We had two nice ladies during our visit. I forgot the name of the first one. Nicole was our second bartender of the evening. We had a few ciders, and decided to head to the back to play a game of corn holes. We will definitely be back to visit. Folsom Hotel is definitely my new favorite bar. I was a customer before the new owner took over but not so much anymore. The remodel they did looks great and thats all the good I can say about the place now. With the place having a cover charge just to get in the door to drink and listen to music from someone they pay to play music off a computer and call him a DJ. Also having security there now is a mess. Some of the security they employ there are less then personable and could care less about customer service and are actually quite rude. The bartenders are pretty good though. No problems in that area. And last and not least, when I left this review on their facebook page I found it interesting that they took it down immediately with no apologies or any response at all. The rude thing working 5/31/18 that snatched my tab and her $2 tip for a simple Irish Coffee - like it was a piece of candy - no bueno. She was on her phone from the minute I walked in until the minute I walked out (32 minutes). I don't know, maybe look busy while you have a customer? Offer me something to eat, I assume that's why you are open early? I like the remodel of the bath rooms - but having the air freshener spray me in the face as I am taking a whiz is probably not the best location, just saying. Last night a group of girls stole my friends phone at a bar across the street (we were in the bathroom with them and they ran out) and we followed them to Folsom Hotel. I told security that the girls stole the phone and we had proof (it was tracked) that it was inside and I asked if he could help get the phone for us. He said "No, call the cops". I practically begged the guy and he said he couldn't search them because he could get a "sexual assault charge". WHAT?!?! I didn't ask him to touch them, I asked him to check their bags because we knew they had it. The bars check bags at the door anyway so why couldn't they again?!?! After plenty of run around and him being so rude to us, we got the girls attention (they were inside the bar and we were outside on the street) and talked to them and they showed us inside their bags without any help from security. Then we saw on the tracker that they left the phone inside the bar, but that security guard wouldn't allow us inside because he was already annoyed with us asking for help from him TO DO THIS JOB. Anyway, I was on the phone with the police and they told me to have security check them and show him the tracker which we already did but he didn't care. He was a really big husky guy with a beard. Probably like 6'5 and 300 pounds ish. We gave up after about half an hour standing outside in the freezing cold tracking the phone inside hoping the tracker would move after the bar closed, but it didn't. Anyway, its the next day today and the bartender at Folsom Hotel called us and said she has our phone and to come pick it up. We never once stepped foot inside Folsom Hotel last night and we know the girls ditched the phone inside there as soon as we started asking them questions. Long story short, security is absolutely useless at this bar and have some sort of power trip for no reason. Folsom Hotel needs to hire new security who actually do their job because that guy was standing there doing nothing and still refused to help us. It could've all been resolved in 5 minutes. Instead he chose to ruin our entire night. Thanks to the bartender though, she came through for us today! read more

I've been coming here on and off for many years. There's always a good time to be had here and always an interesting mix of peeps, ages, and behaviors. There's bar seating, some high top table seating, stand up counter that seperates the dance floor from the bar. A patio/deck out back with a tiki full bar outside with the smokers and break-takers. Over the years, I've learned that anything can happen here. Pay attention and look around; there's people watching maximus available on Friday and Saturday nights. It's a fun bar that can get really crowded. On weekends, expect a live band and all kinds of dancing on the dance floor. I've never run into any trouble here nor had any problems with patrons or staff. Everyone is generally friendly and if not, they leave quickly. It's easy to spark up conversations and make new temporary best friends. There's no hotel here. It's a bar and maybe a few apartments upstairs in a building that used to be a hotel. read more
