Honesty this is the shadiest place I've ever been to in folsom. The bartenders seemed nice but anyone else working there is extremely rude. The guy who stands in front of the door is extremely rude for no reason. The drinks and food were okay but the fact that the employees were so full of themselves and stuck up is the entire reason I believe this place is bullshit. I left my keys here as they were closing and I ran to go grab them from where I was sitting and the workers there refused to let me inside to get my car keys! Then when I asked if one of them could grab them for me, I literally watched the guy say yes and then go drink with the bartenders, he didnt even look! Then when I knocked on the door again, I got yelled at for asking for my keys again! I literally had to ask a friend to take me home because they REFUSED to let me come get my car keys. What if I couldn't get a ride and they literally just abandoned a young girl at 2am with no way of getting home? I came back the next day and BEHOLD they had my keys! I live 35 minutes away and could've saved the headache if they had just let me grab them in the first place. read more

If you've been to the this spot for a cocktail or two, you gotta stop by The Broken Kitchen that's in the back. Food is suuuuuuuper good! We tried the Pulled pork tacos-- pork was nice and crispy with Mexican crema on top. A definite try!! Crispy quinoa sliders-- I was really impressed, if you haven't tried quinoa before, try these! Fresh house-pickled jalapeños on top. A real must try! The green chile burger-- it's all about roasted green chile!! Well and that fried egg! Try it! Chef is really nice too! We came in from out of state. Around 1am the bouncer heads out back and yells "everyone get the f*ck out of here". Then proceeds to shove my father in law. My father in law is confused because he isn't fluent in English. Then the bouncer puts him in a choke hold and carries him the length of the bar during this process my father in law became unconscious for about 10 seconds. Then about another minute later a fight starts between a customer and another bouncer on the public road in front of the bar and the bouncer is hitting this man on a public road. As this is going on another bouncer comes up a sucker punches my father in law who they just choked out and isn't even on their property. We called Folsom PD and they said that they regularly get call about bouncers here committing battery. Talking to friends who live in Folsom they all state that this place is notorious for the bouncers taking their anger out on customers and using violence as a first resort. They need to fire their security staff and management needs to have legal action taken against them. There are a lot of reviews where similar events have happened to other, the management is failing to address the issue. read more

After paying $30 to get in on new year's eve (it was fine, just not worth the insane entrance fee), I ordered two vodka crans and ended up paying $20 for two cups of cranberry juice. I watched her make the drinks and she didn't put any alcohol in them. She was running the bar by herself and the place was absolutely packed, so I didn't say anything because I could tell she was overwhelmed. We happened to be passing on a Tuesday afternoon and were attracted in by two singers playing (without amplification) acoustic guitars -- outstanding music -- if those guys are going to be playing there again we will be driving to Folsom on a regular basis. Their voices are AMAZING! Their playing is amazing too. Wow!!! If I wrote down their names correctly they are Bradley Lewis and Topher Sean. Breathtakingly raw, incredibly heartfelt music. Such an amazing stroke of luck that they were playing when we passed, and we had time to go in and listen for a while. read more

I was really looking forward to trying the brunch menu but quickly found out that the hotel is under new ownership and has removed majority of the menu. I'll start with the bartender telling us she wasn't ready to open. My friend and I decided to wait on the patio in the back since we were not in a hurry and didn't want to make any judgement calls from the first interaction with the bartender. After about 15 minutes, the bartender came out to the patio and said I'm ready for you to come in now. At this point it was closer to 11:30. We asked for a menu and she told us nothing would be ready for a while but we insisted on still looking at the menu. The menu only had a few bbq options which we thought about trying but figured we weren't willing to find out how long it would take for them to be ready to cook bbq. When we asked about all the changes, she said everything is under new ownership and that the hotel is now "fun" and a country bar. We continued to attempt to have small talk with the bartender but at this point the rudeness, lack of food, and overall attitude was just not worth it. We ended up walking across the street and had a delicious French toast across the street at a local Mexican restaurant. I'm sad I didn't get to experience this place pre Covid because I heard nothing but amazing things! I hope the new owners read the room on what the locals like. Good friendly customer service goes a long way. If you're not ready to serve food then I don't think it should be offered as an option until later in the day. Also a hello or greeting is often a good way to greet a customer rather than saying I'm not ready...or maybe just a smile and I'll be with you shortly would have been more sufficient. As a long time Folsom resident and frequent customer at this bar, it pains me to write this review. I had my first legal drink in this spot, I won't say how many years ago. I have frequented this bar for quite a while now, and I have to say in the last year it has changed...for the worse. I remember a time when this bar held a great variety of people, all different ages, styles, cultures, etc. Now, it looks like a frat house exploded on any given Friday or Saturday night. It's as if Powerhouse and Scarlet's overflow to the hotel now. You're completely overrun with Affliction tshirts, backwards baseball caps, and girls in mini skirts barely covering their crotch. As for the drinks/bartenders - I apparently also have been served by the young woman mentioned in another review (unless this is a prevalent issue with multiple young women here). The whole time we were at the bar, she was either texting, or talking to just one person at the bar...ignoring everyone else. And the female bartenders here need to be a bit more generous with their pouring. The ONLY time I get a drink here that I can taste any alchohol, is when a male bartender serves me. The two guys behind the bar that have worked here a while, they're fantastic. They are personable, attentive, and make a good drink. The female bartenders here, not so much. The one gal that left for a while when she had her baby (can't remember her name), she's wonderful...I miss her. Seriously, put your phone down when a customer walks up to the bar, and make a good drink since your prices have gone up, and you now charge a surcharge to pay with a credit card. Also, what's with the constant beer issue at the bar? They are ALWAYS saying they're out of stock, or they don't have any more cold in the bottle we're requesting...this seems to be an ongoing issue here. I wish this place would go back to the old ways of doing things, pour a better drink, get more live bands, and get your old clientele back. read more

I went here on a Wednesday, which is apparently open mic night. I had a great time, probably in part because my boyfriend was invited to play bass with the band after he chatted them up a bit. The live music was what drew us in, and it's obviously their main attraction. Other than that, the drinks are strong and cheap, just the way I like them. Being a liberal 23-year-old, I found this place to have an older, distinctly republican vibe. I imagine that most of their patrons had Harleys parked around the corner. When I ordered a gin and juice, the bartender asked what kind of juice I was referring to. I clarified and said "ummm, orange, duh." He responded with "isn't that a black people drink?" Wow. Did he actually say that? Then again, it's Folsom. Par for the course. I was greatly amused by the 50-year-old dancing like a madwoman during every song. She was the only person on the dance floor (if you can call it that) and didn't have a care in the world. Now that's an attitude I like to see. The place had a very relaxed vibe, so in spite of feeling a bit out of place, I didn't really mind. Extra points for the clever/funny signs, including the one advertising "new lower recession prices." I'll be going back here on a Wednesday in the near future for another great time. read more

I got an almond milk mocha, garlic fries, homemade chips and the blackened chicken sandwich for lunch while perusing shops in historic Folsom. It was all so good! They even brought out a side that looked like ranch, but it was something pickle and it was also very good. Everyone at the bar and the the chef were all great and very friendly. I normally get my coffee here in the morning, Vanessa is always friendly and down to earth. However, I'm so stoked that they revamped the menu recently and on two different occasions, by two different chefs there, I ordered the avocado tacos and they were freaking outstanding both times. The night that I went to this bar it was suuper crowded. They did have a live band performing, which was great. Although it wasn't music that I'm really into, but it was still pretty cool to have a band there. It took the bartender forever to make our drinks. The place is pretty small and narrow, which I don't find appealing. This place isn't really for me, but I know others really enjoy it here. I might have to come back when it's not as busy. read more

It has 1 women's bathroom, with ONE toilet. )"Bathroom" (singular) unless you want to go upstairs where all the "residents" (Pretty scary bunch I must say. 1 was so wasted, he literally came falling/rolling down the stairs. Wow.) live, & hang out smoking on the patio/balcony, party, etc. You have to walk in a puddle of urine to use the commode, because men were using the women's all day/night. Guess their bathroom isn't any bigger then ours. No kidding. It was DISGUSTING. (Sorry men, no offense, I grew up w/ 3 brothers. But let's face it, we all know ur aim isn't always accurate. Especially when drinking!) Wish I would of known that BEFORE we ordered our drinks. The bartender was nice, but it took forever to get a drink, only to come in glasses that surely no one "really" washed. Again....GROSS. Interesting mix of bar crowd. Looked like Folsom's Finest toothless crowd! lol We had heard some "bad" things about the female owner, & they must be true, because there she was, apparently feeling no pain, as she made it known to everyone that she was "The Owner". Talk about a turn off. She was loud, and obnoxious. Add to that the place stunk of an old, dirty shack, urine, etc....we will NOT be back, and I recommend other great places like Charolette's, The Hacienda, Yager's, and on & on.... Second time I ordered food from here and waited 30 + minutes both times to eventually get my order declined on DoorDash due to the resteraunt , bad enough they charge $6.99 to place an order where most places are free, but to have you wait 30-45 min and cancel is a joke! read more

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I have been visiting the Folsom Hotel again lately and I am very happy to report that things have changed, for the better. The owner is no longer in he barr all the time, in fact she is hardly there now at all. The food is the best they have had there for a number of years. The bartenders are great and they have added quite a decent beer selection now. And the Wed Night jam session with Fire and Wheels is amazing. The band is made up of Sacramento band royalty,Steve Wall from the Beer Dawgs, Steve Stizzo form Mumbo Gumbo and the former bassist from The Fryed Brothers. These guys can play. Lots of great musicians come to sit on Wednesdays including blues harp ace Kyle Rowland and bout every guitar slinger in town. So, the HOTEL IS back and I dig it now. read more

This place is really what you make of it. I went there with a date and the dance floor was empty. On Wednesdays they have a blues band that comes up and plays a few songs. I love to dance. There was a much older crowd there then my age, 22. But I took my date out to the dance floor since they were playing some classics. Within 10 minutes the dance floor was too small where at first it was too big. Every one loved us so much they didn't want us to leave. Bottle specials on Wednesdays I believe 2-3 bucks for bottled beer I had a great white. Chill place to go, especially during the middle of the week. The site said open mic so I was hoping to hear some artists from the area but it wasn't correct. I'm not too fond of parking in this area but the place can't help that. With some good marketing this place can be the spot everyday if they do it right. Tons of potential. read more

I used to come here with my parents on off nights for a drink and local color. We always had a good time, drinks were poured with a heavy hand, and temporary bar friends were made. The decor is old and kitchy but the Jukebox is new. Fast forward a few years, my boyfriend's band plays here frequently, it gets crowded and loud. There is usually a mix of people here, oldsters, middle aged, and some young'uns...my parents and their friends come with their young adult children. Sometimes it's hard to get to the bar for a drink, but the back bar is usually open and easier to get to...it just isn't fully stocked. There is usually room to dance...or watch the older folks find their groove. If you're there when the kitchen is open, you should check it out. The food is pretty decent and there are vegetarian options for those so inclined. The front restroom can get pretty nasty, but the back one is usually cleaner. It's a bar, a party spot for all of Folsom...you learn to deaal with the restrooms when you're having so much fun! read more

Absolutely terrible customer service by manager on duty. He said his name was Matt, but may have not given me his real name. He was extremely rude and unprofessional while closing the bar. My girlfriends and I were trying to get a drink for last call and bartender served other people who got to the bar after us and told us that he is closed. When we tried to ask why, manager Matt chimed in and said because we were not "cute". I have also observed same manager yelling at other customers that they need to get out, while some people were allowed to stand at the bar and continue drinking no problem. Perhaps, the ones that were allowed to continue drinking were regulars or friends of staff. It's hard to believe sitting in the Folsom Hotel that you are about 100 miles from San Francisco. It is such a different world. In a really cool way. My preferred American beer, Budweiser, sells for $2 a bottle! The bar is impressively stocked with premium liquors, especially vodka. Supposedly much of the decor originates with Gold Rush Days, including the gigantic mirror hung behind the bar. When the Rodeo is going on over the Fourth of July, it's the place to be and a live country band plays every night. It's a refreshing change from the posh (sometimes gritty) San Francisco social circles I run in and I hope to be back! read more

Greetings, I've being going to the Folsom Hotel for about 12 years. No issues at all until last night ! One of the bartenders ( her ) seem like to chat with friends a lot and flirt ,so be prepared to wait 10 to 20 minutes until they come to you !! And when you complain about it , they are going to be rude and disrespectful !! No laugh and no tip !! As a business owner i would like to address the owner ( you know me well :) to watch them kids behind the bar while you're away . The do harm your business . I am luckily in a position that i can afford to tip them a few hundred dollars but i don't and i won't either . I also do not think that a bar can afford to walking away from my $80 average i spend on every Wednesday ( thats only on Wendesdays ) Things are getting better . Yeah, I wasn't impressed. I ordered a Bloody Mary. The bartender was friendly up until the point where I asked if she put horseradish in it. Her reply was "do you want to make it?". I don't mind a bartender with humor, but sarcasm does not go well with service, especially when you deal with public. I'm not sure why a question would push her button, but it really was not necessary and made the stay undesirable to me. This was my first experience there and maybe that's her humor, but not good for first impressions. I come out here at least once a week they have some of the most friendly and customer oriented bartenders around. It's part of the reason I love to come back. They do their job, do not act stuck up and are happy to help you. Some of the other staff are not very nice people though. Sad to see people who bring that energy in. One negative thing I will say is they have been closing the porch by 1 am sometimes 12 30, even on busy nights. This doesn't work for me because I like to sit outside with my drinks. I understand they want to clean up but personally think it's kind of silly and inconsiderate to guests to make them feel rushed out so quickly. read more
