    Avocados

My favorite place for veggies and fruit and chocolate covered strawberries . They always have the best price for avocados . The chocolate covered strawberries are fresh big long stemmed strawberries beautifully decorated just $0.99 each . The offer many other things just sharing my favorites.

I really like going to Food City because they carry a lot of ethnic foods. Even though it is mostly Mexican products, a lot of their products overlap with other cultures. As much as I like finding stuff I need, it is also fun trying new things especially when I have no idea what it is. The variety of items though is not the best thing about Food City. It's the prices! The other day I got four avocados for $1! They also have mangos 3 for $0.99. I called my mom (back in HI) to share in my excitement of prices like these. And the produce items are of good quality too! Whenever I need quality produce on a smaller scale, Food City is where I'm going from now on.

I came here for lunch, because they have a big menu with tons of different Mexican food items. They even have caldo de rez and menudo! I came on a Tuesday and they have taco Tuesday specials. Tacos were a $1 each and it's like eating home cooked tacos they were delicious. I did a plate so it came with rice and beans and i recommend adding them to your meal. The staff was nice, fast, and efficient. They also have a big dining area with plenty of chairs and tables to sit and eat. They also have fresh water is like horchata and jaimaica. I tried their fresh lemonade and it was delicious it was perfect for a refreshing hot day. I would definitely come back here for lunch again. It also looks like they have great deals if you decide to grocery shop here.

    Got trapped

Alex and Josue were pushing carts mad slow and they left a cart in the back of someone's truck also when I came back from my shopping spree no cap dropped a fat rack but when I came back my car was blocked off with cars couldn't get out for almost 4 hours never coming back

I typically stop in here for dried chilies. I like to make mole and food city offers a good variety of authentic dried chilies plus other stuff you will be hard pressed to find at other grocery stores - piloncillo, non-canned hominy. The produce is hit and miss and some times it's more expensive that other places and is usually not good; spoils quick, is bruised, etc. If you keep your eyes open for sales you can get meat pretty cheap. Store itself is somewhat clean. If you want something you usually need to locate it yourself.

3.5 * I mainly stop here for homemade tortillas, and in-store Fire Roasted Hatch Chiles; both are absolutely amazing, and really step up my dishes at home. Hubs and FIL like the tacos from their on-site restaurant. Occasionally I'll pick up some produce, but neither it, nor the meats are organic. It is not the cleanest or best organized store, but the aforementioned chiles and tortillas are inexpensive, delicious, and on point. The bakery has surprisingly tasty and budget-friendly Tres Leches cake. Employees are friendly and helpful, speaking Spanish is definite plus here. * corn and flour tortillas made fresh daily * ** on site restaurant serving tacos, tortas, posole, and Menudo (weekends) horchatas, agua fresca, and more ** *** Bakery makes custom cakes to order *** **** they occasionally have great sales on meats and pantry essentials, check the flyers **** ***** the Fire Roasted Hatch Chiles are AMAZING, get them when available (they also freeze well ;) *****

Look at all this beautiful produce and goodies, every one was delicious

I already like this place better than El Rancho across the street. They're cleaner, better organized, and have a much nicer produce section. That's what my review is about, the produce and other bulk items I found and the piñata. Ive been shopping for piñatas all over town. Food City had a small variety, a horse, a bull, a sphere and different types of Mexican tv show characters (el chapulín type and el Chavo type). These were all s great price if 13$! I got the bull one for my kids upcoming party.. Can't beat that price when WinCo and Target have them for more and they're smaller and kinda on the boring side. Produce I bought as you can see in my pic a lot of things: plantains, finger bananas, prickly pear, Brown coconuts, tamarind pods and cactus aka nopales. All looked nice, clean, fresh and were tasty once home and consumed. I don't find this nice of a produce product in the competitor across the street so I'll come here for that. Their bulk buns liked freshly restocked The staff i interacted with in the produce area and the cashier were all smiley and nice. I'm a fan for these reasons and I'll be back for more Latin produce

My first time in the store was yesterday. The have a variety of products I don't see in the stores I usually frequent. I wish there was 1 of these in the California Bay Area/ Antioch or Brentwood. These taco salad bowls are fresh and delish

Avoid the carnicería. Tried the marinated flank and had to trim half a pond of fat. Better look elsewhere.

What do they recommend from their meat department? How's the marinated chicken? Do they have Al pastor?

Their meat dept sells USDA select meats, so the beef is not very tender. For braising or for stewing, then their beef is OK. They have marinated chicken, but I have never tried it; I marinate my own. And I don't think they have al pastor, I have… Read more

While this location is not one of my regular Safeway stops, I have passed it on the way to work-related functions at a nearby hotel. I went there yesterday when picking up out-of-town guests from the airport for a work meeting. We stopped by to pick up some water or other beverages, along with snacks, for three days of work meetings. I haven't needed to use the customer service team yet, though there are plenty of staff members available should I need anything. There is also plenty of parking nearby to make it easy to park, head inside to pick up items, and then take off by using a self-checkout counter or an aisle with a staff member working as a cashier. I recall visiting Safeway, and Albertsons had their annual Monopoly game way back when, and then the Flavor Adventure through the app a few years ago, too. While I haven't used the curbside pickup at this location, I know it is offered here. I do have a membership for FreshPass (which I got this past year at the 50% off promotion). There are great sales from the weekly doorbuster sales to daily promotions to Friday or weekend promotions to general sales prices. For approximately $99 per year (or the occasional $49 promotional price), you can sign up for FreshPass, which includes unlimited free delivery on orders over $30, $5 monthly credit for annual subscribers, earn 2X points on our exclusive brands, save 5% on O Organics, Open Nature, or Signature Pet Care, points don't expire, a VIP phone line, and monthly exclusive Starbucks perks. I really appreciate the $5 monthly credit and the Starbucks perks (to buy a grande-sized drink for only $2 every month). Between those two alone, you more than make back what you spend on the program. Even if you don't join the program, you can earn points for every purchase to redeem for free items, store discounts, or gas discounts, plus extra points during your birthday month. While there are certainly things that this store can do better in the future to meet customers' needs, they have already done so much to get there. For instance, when there are great promotions for a weekly doorbuster, they often still have the items in stock while other nearby stores no longer do (like $0.97 per pound chicken breast). I plan to continue visiting this store in the future when driving this direction!

This day the wing bar was empty and not yet ready for the lunch crowd. I asked the nice young man behind the counter he said he and the deli manager were new and apologized for not having ready. In the past the wing bar was always ready at 11:00 daily. So, I went back today to once again get some wings from the wing bar and again the wing bar was empty and not ready. I asked the same young man behind the counter and once again he said the manger was new and apologized. Not his fault because apparently he was alone this time, at least I didn't see anyone else behind the counter just him.

That changed radically recently as I decided to give it another chance as I was in the area and ended up scoring some unexpected and amazing deals. I don't go to HMart in Mesa much anymore as this store has just about everything I need and is so much closer. If you want live seafood, you'll find plenty here. I really like the abundance of fresh vegetables and they're really cheap. I always pick up a kombucha squash to roast for my fur baby too. Tofu prices are the cheapest I've seen so I stock up as I love making mapo tofu and spicy tofu soup. They also have a food court and a bakery inside the store so it's very convenient to grab to go or even eat there as they have a small seating area. There are certain ice cream bars that I have only been able to find here too like the matcha ice cream bars that use good quality matcha. Some items here can be a bit more expensive so I usually go to my other usual spot instead for majority of things on my list. Was just here on Mother's day and picked up this new ube coconut spread which was $10 for 5.8oz. I would say that is expensive. They did let everyone take a carnation flower home on this day. That was nice. This store is always busy on the weekend. The parking is so bad. It can be difficult to get a parking spot on the busy weekends and people take forever to get in their car and leave the parking spot. Lately, I've been noticing how slow the cashiers are and the lines to pay can get pretty long. They really take their time picking items up, scanning and putting items into the bag. There is no sense of urgency at all. It would help to get some faster cashiers or retrain to improve speed, or even add a self check out area.
