What an awful experience I guess if you're not from here they follow you around the whole time in the store watching you to make sure you don't steal! Hahah I asked for the bathroom was told I couldn't use it! The lady working was basically touching me the whole time I was walking around the store because she was so close to me hovering over me! They only allowed a couple people in at a time and they wouldn't allow us to really walk around the whole store they just keep acting like we where gonna steal everything we touched Very pricey also not worth it at all smelt like sour food in there would never recommend this place Photos of us for reference I'm pretty sure we look like the last people who would steal from this shit hole! read more

They may not be all that alike (or even remotely alike), but Foodland is like my own little Disneyland. Beyond their similar naming convention, and despite the obvious lack of rides, characters, industry, movies, TV shows, cartoons, size, and so much more, it's because this place is just as magical! And, to be honest, with how much much less it costs to come here, a big part of me (and my wallet) leaves even happier! Compared to some of the other Foodlands I've been to on Oahu, this one might be one of the oldest (the building feels old), but I've been to this location the most. Every time we head up towards the North Shore, it almost always includes a stop here. Sometimes it's just to grab some drinks and/or snacks for the drive, but it's usually to pick up lunch to bring with us to the beach. Either way, whatever I end up buying here always includes their many varieties of poke! Whether you prefer yours with tuna, salmon, or hamachi (or one of their many other seafood choices), spicy or mild, or with a classic sort of shoyu/ponzu sauce or with some mayo mixed in, Foodland's display cases are bound to have at least one or two types that will pique your tastebuds. For me, my usual go-to picks are their Furikake Salmon, Wasabi with Salmon, Limu Ahi, and Hawaiian Style Ahi, but regardless of what I end up getting, each time I've been here, every poke I've had has always been so fresh and delicious! If poke/poke bowls aren't your thing, there's also a solid selection of hot foods to choose from, including hot bowls and musubis, but I can't say I'm familiar with any of them (#teampoke). As for the rest of the market (shockingly, they sell other stuff), their shelves and freezers has all of the staples you could need, as well as some local offerings. Given how the vast majority of things are shipped into Hawaii, prices are obviously higher than what you'd see on the mainland, but I can't say how it compares to other markets on the island, like Safeway, Whole Foods, or H-Mart. Along with their much beloved poke (just like the rides at Disneyland, the poke counter will typically have a line, though it moves significantly faster), the other thing my friends and I tend to leave with is some of Foodland's merch (just like at Disneyland...). More specifically, their musubi, pineapple, and poke tote/grocery bags, whether for ourselves or to bring back as souvenirs. After all, how else are we going to carry all of that poke back to the car? Can't wait to come back the next time I'm on the island! read more

We followed our friend's recommendation to come to this specific Foodland for their poke. We are glad we did because the selection was enormous and the fish was very fresh. Overwhelmed by the selections, I asked the counterman which was the most popular. He pointed to the spicy tuna in a creamy orange sauce. We got a bowl of that and a bowl of the sesame soy tuna. We found a shady spot to park our car overlooking the ocean and had an indulgent picnic. All future poke will have to be judged against these. read more

Folks here are nice, the fruits and vegetables are fresh and the price is reasonable considering how far out it is.

Hands down this is the best and cheapest place to stop to get a lunch to stop and have a picnic on da kine Sunset Beach and watch the big surf bruddah. Nobody has a better selection of poke (various fish and flavors). While things like milk might be expensive, the fish is so cheap and fresh. Like i do on every trip to my home land, I stopped by for some poke last week and had a picnic on the beach at the North Shore across the road. God bless Hawaii and Foodland!!! read more

This is the best foodland poke I have had. They had a Maui onion flavor that was a mayo based flavor. I typically don't order creamy poke, I had asked the guy helping us what flavor he preferred and this was it. It was fire and I haven't seen it at all the other locations. The eel sauce, furikake and crunchies on top make it taste like a sushi roll. It was soo good, I'll be looking for it at other locations from now on. read more

We always come here when we go to North Shore. It's across the street from Sharks Cove. We get our lunches here, and it's usually the small containers of different kind of pokes. We get the mayo one, the shoyu one, and another one. Along with some California rolls and seaweed salad. There's usually plenty of parking because people come and go. This is one of the most iconic Foodlands being the go-to spot for those on the North Shore-- serving both North Shore residents and those visiting. Foodland is known for their poke and they have an amazing selection of fresh and previously frozen poke. Most recently, I came by and they had a Hawaiian-style hamachi poke! Poke by the pound or getting a poke bowl with rice-- you really can't go wrong. On busy days, don't forget to grab a number. It can seem a bit chaotic but they got a good system in place. Don't sleep on their chicken-- we tried their salt and vinegar chicken wings lately and it was some of the best grocery store chicken wings we've ever had. You buy them by the pound right next to the poke bar-- and when our number was called at the poke bar, we were also able to ask for some chicken. When we were in line, we overheard 3 different people get their orange chicken-- so that must be popular too! The folks working both behind the counter and at check-out are friendly --- and gave us more untincils than we needed. More than just poke and fried chicken you can get drinks, chips, and everything you might need for a beach day. Plus, it is a whole grocery store with produce, meats, cheeses, etc. This Foodland is a bit overpriced and seems to be more geared towards catering to tourist-- which is understandable. read more

Grab a number at the counter and wait your turn. When your number is called, the employees will assist you with your order. There were so many options of fresh, marinated poke. It was really hard to choose! I noticed a lady asking for samples of their poke, so if you're really indecisive and not shy, feel free to ask for a sample. After I had booked a VRBO near Sunset Beach, I was told that the Foodland was a little on the expensive side. To be honest, everything on Oahu is expensive. It's an island and it cost more money to get things there. Now, that being said, I found the Foodland near Bonzie Beach to be a great place to pick up food. They have great selections of foods that you would normally want to find, plus great things from the island. My son loved their poke selection. It is not a huge store, but they pack in what is needed. I have to admit I did not really look at their meat selection. But their fruits and vegetables were very acceptable. This is not a store where you walk in and you find 10 different makers of one product. You might find two! But that is OK. You are on the North Shore of Oahu and that is just amazing in the first place. Sign up for their reward program, it will be well worth it. I had about a $300 bill and signing up on the spot saved me about $60. You do not get the sale prices unless you are a member. They're always seem to be an employee somewhere close to where you were, so if you have trouble finding something, ask. I did this twice in one evening and both times the workers were happy to help me. read more

Foodland is loaded with yummy delicacies as well as basic staples. My surfer boy and I stayed in a surf shack in Sunset Beach, and frequented Foodland regularly during our 2 1/2 weeks there. Plus, you might get to check out Kelly Slater in the checkout line like I did. His cosmic green eyes look like waves in the ocean that you want to dive into. Sigh. But I digress. Got poke here after Shark's Cove and it was really good! This store isn't as elevated/Sprouts looking as the one near me South of the island, the vibe is more like an okay-Safeway/Kroger's. However, their poke was better because they had spicy salmon instead of shoyu salmon. You have to get a number at the counter and there's a big sign at the counter indicating which number the workers are on. My number was skipped but when I came up and asked the worker was just like yeah I'll just do yours then. Maybe because I didn't stand close while my number was close to being called, I don't know. I got two scoops of spicy salmon and the price indicated about a half-pound, it costed $19.99/lb and was $10. It's only fish on rice but it was super filling, if I got a full pound it would cost about the same as in the Bay but way more filling even though it looks small. We got various fruits as well: star fruit, papaya, cotton candy grapes, pears (code ended with a 3 and not 6), and nectarines. All of the fruits were great, the most sweet being the nectarine and the least was the star fruit. I've had better texture pears but the pears were pretty good in sweetness. Lastly, they were selling dubai chocolate which I didn't see in my other location so we picked some up. read more

After having had very mediocre (and expensive) meals at Turtle Bay Resort, walking into Foodland felt heavenly. All the ready-made foods at the deli not only looked terrific, but it tasted pretty great, too (we're talking lumpia, musubi, onigiri, fried chicken skin, chicken wings, chicken tenders, potato wedges, all kinds of fresh poke, sushi... you get the idea). You can also pick up all your grocery essentials here and there is a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf adjacent to the market. If you need the restroom, there are none for customers and you will have to go across the street to the beach bathroom. Plenty of parking and friendly service, too. I'm a fan! read more

I remember eating Poke multiple times from Foodland when I was in Maui and had to stop off when I saw this one. I usually run away from grocery store food but in HI, it's different. I am not sure how the locals view it but for someone like who does not live here, the poke here is outstanding. I really enjoy my neighborhood Foodland in Pūpūkea. The store has a low key friendly no matter what time of the day you visit. They make fresh sushi tolsand poke all morning y. Hubby loves tne Crazy Combo Roll. I specifically went to get some much needed items for dinner. I'm glad that all my items were o sale. Not mainland sale prices but hey, every penny counts. The self service checkouts were open but not many people use them still. This just takes some getting use too by some. I love it and Your out quickly versus waiting in line. This Foodland definitely comes in clutch! If you're anywhere on the North Shore, this is the place to go to pick up anything you need. It's in a prime location since it's right around the corner from Waimea, across from Pupukea, and before Sunset etc. They're well stocked and the staff is always friendly and helpful. For sure have to try the poke! You wouldn't think that a grocery store would have good poke, but the quality of the fish is amazing. They have a good variety to choose from, plenty of sides etc. My favorites are the Hawaiian style and the California roll, of course with a side of fresh rice. Foodland isn't just a grocery store, but THE place to get all your foodie beach needs at affordable prices (especially in Hawaii)! They sell Poké by the pound, and it's so fresh and delicious. The Spam Musubi is also sold hot and individually wrapped, and the bento boxes are hot and ready to go too, making it so convenient to pack for the beach or when traveling. Good place to get food if you're planning on visiting Waimea Bay. We thought there would be restaurants along the bay, but our Uber driver informed us we were wrong and took us here instead. The store is very clean and they have lots of options, mainly fish based, both pre-packaged and at the deli. I had a prepackaged vegan salad, which was pretty good, although it was one of the only vegan options. The ocean is right across the street from the store and there are lots of rocks you can sit on to eat overlooking the water. read more
