I get like 2 haircuts a year, so Im not too picky about hairstyles, but they did a great job and I felt pampered. Nice attractive young stylists. Theyre sort of like geishas: trained in the art of conversation. Im not the real chatty type, but Alexis and I were yapping along like old hens. So I decided to give this place a try considering all the great reviews. I called in on a Monday and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday with no problem. I called back and asked to change my appointment for Monday afternoon instead. To my surprise, they had no problem fitting me in. They set me up with Jessica, which is a (Level 2 Stylist).. WTF? Like a second class angel that doesn't have her wings yet. Jessica was great! She had a good personality and very good hair cutting skills. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. If I was reviewing the stylist alone, I would give her 5 stars, but unfortunately I'm reviewing the whole establishment. It's great that they offer you drinks, but really, can you keep reaching for the glass while the stylist has sharp scissors on your head? Probably not the best idea. I took a sip of the wine and left it almost full. I did enjoy the hair washing before and after, and the warm washcloth at the end. I liked the product that she used on my hair, so I decided to purchase a bottle ($16.99) My total for the haircut and the bottle of hair product came out to $55 not including tip. (yikes!) I gave Jessica a good tip because she did a great job. However, I don't like the idea of dishing out $60 + every 3 weeks for a haircut. I did not ask for a discount, and they did not even bother to offer me one. There is a $27 special for first timers. ( I guess make sure you ask them for the special if you are coming here for the first time) I Actually overheard the front desk quoting this price to someone over the phone while I was there. read more

I saw a lot of positive reviews on Yelp so I thought I'd give this place a shot. When I first got there, it seemed like a nice place. Good decor and they try to really make it a place where guys would feel more comfortable. So the haircut started. I told her what I wanted in detail, how my hair is usually cut, what tools my last 2 stylist used, etc. Ultimately things didn't go very well. Long story short, I think the girl that was cutting my hair (Merissa) was new, and just inexperienced with actually cutting hair without using clippers. Usually most "stylists" that have cut my hair use razors to create a layered and choppy look. I don't like my hair clean cut and she just didn't know how to do that type of cut. Anyway, she basically just trimmed the edges with the razor instead of going inside the hair to chop it up. Usually my haircuts take about 20 min to do, and I was in that chair pushing an hour. I really just think she didn't know what she was doing. I tried to make due with the cut for about 3 weeks by using heavy amounts of product, but since she didn't layer my hair properly, it's now taking a life on it's own and I need to get my hair cut again. it might be the stylist, but this is just not a good place to get a haircut if it deviates away from the 40 year old boss cut or the police officer look. If your hair cuts require layering and isn't within the confines of a "Size 4" on clippers, then you might leave very disappointed like I did. read more

This place has been really hit and miss for me. I've tried about four different stylists. Two were good, one was great, and my last was one of my worst haircuts ever. I called a few days in advance and asked for an appointment "for this Friday." I showed up on that date and was told that my appointment was actually the next week. I was traveling for work in a few days, so I really needed my hair cut that day. The receptionist was nice and was luckily able to find someone who could take me. (Or at least I thought it was lucky then...) I wish I could remember the stylist's name, but I cannot. The girl rinsed my hair and asked how I wanted it done then instead of when I was sitting and could chat with her. At least I didn't need anything too complicated done, though. After rinsing, she didn't wrap a towel around my hair, so the water dripped a lot down my back as I walked back to her chair. The process of the cut itself was fine, so I'll skip to the end. She took me back to wash my hair, and again didn't give me a towel so my back got soaked as I returned to her chair the second time. She blow dried my hair, but apparently didn't dry the back, which I didn't notice at the time because I was thinking about something else. I asked her to flat iron my hair, which she did, but only got about 75% of my hair. I left and went on my way to work, but the back of my hair was still wet. Since it was air drying, it started to curl. By the time I got to work, the back of my hair was curly, and the front was straight. It looked...not good. I did the best I could to fix it in my car before going into work, but without a blow drier and a flat iron, there wasn't much I could do. I realized then that the girl didn't offer me a mirror to show me the back of the cut. (Something that every single person who has ever cut my hair has done.) If she had, I would have noticed that she didn't dry or straighten the back and asked her to fix it while I was still in the chair. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the experience. But she was the only stylist I've ever not liked at this salon, so I think it's probably just her and not a reflection of the business. read more

Definitely a spot i miss, my hair just does not get the same treatment now. But when i was near enough to get my services done here it was amazing. I could go in during my lunch breaks, relax with a beer, go into the changing room which has razors, a plethora of styling products, fully stocked towels, so that when your done with your hair cut. One does not have to go back to work with hair all over your shirt and you'd come out like you came out of your bathroom at home. I know that when i come here ill come out with a great haircut, and feeling relaxed, great head massages does that. Most guys won't pay this much for a hair cut, but it's a full service one that's well worth it. read more

So following some weight loss and new clothes, I decided it was time to change my look as well. With that in mind, I looked around for a nicer men's place. I decided to go for Metro over the other choice and I'm glad I did. I was nervous about making a change as I've pretty much had the same hair forever. Merissa was awesome and made me feel confident from the word go. She seemed very mature and knew her stuff. She showed me how to style my new 'do and then messed it up and made me do it. I really appreciated this and I was able to easily duplicate the look. The amenities of a drink and the little changing room are a nice touch and the decor is comfy but posh. I also did a scalp treatment with Erin and I wholeheartedly recommend this if you want to treat yourself. It's more than a crappy barber in every way and worth every penny. So what's a guy to do when his hair stylist/barber leaves the biz for whatever reason? He tries a bunch of new places and after getting hacked and slashed like a sheep being sheared for its wool, he hits the Internet. At least that's what this guy did. After minimal success from referrals from friends and not being able to find anything nearby through Yelp, I just did a random search and got lucky with Metro for Men. As you can tell from the name, they are a salon that specializes in Men's haircuts so I figured I'd give it a try. It was close to my house, so I gave them a call and a woman picked up the phone and scheduled an appointment for me that same day. The salon looks stylish on the outside and on the inside... very modern looking. After signing in, I am offered a beverage of my choice (beer, soda, water) and sit in the waiting room which is surrounded by a few flat panel TV's, sports magazines and newspapers... definitely guy friendly material. It was pretty busy but I didn't have to wait long before my stylist (Kim) came out to greet me. Led me to a small locker room where I could hang up my jacket and put on a smock. Gave me a shampoo and scalp massage, then dried me up and started to work. They pride themselves on getting you in and out quickly, within 30 minutes and they do a very good job at it too. She quickly cut my hair with precision and accuracy and in a short time it was over and I was surprised at how well the haircut came out. I didn't really even guide her too much on what I wanted but she managed to cut my hair exactly how I would have wanted it. Gave me another shampoo and rinse, then off to style the cut and finish with a hot towel to wipe away any excess hair. The only negative is that it is slightly more expensive than getting your hair cut at a regular place... about $37, but that's still way cheaper than what women usually have to pay. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. read more

Second time to metro for men and definitely pleased after my haircut this time. My last haircut was not bad at all the first time, just didn't justify the 30-35 dollars for it. I paid 37 this time, 45 with tip, but I gotta say my stylist Yvonne did a really good job. I was rushing to get outta there towards the end as I was in a rush for work, so I'm sure she probably thought I didn't like the experience or my cut but I definitely did, well worth the money, and I will definitely be back. They definitely try to up sell you when you go, hair product, shampoo, facial treatments, but I'm in sales so I completely get it, keep doing what you're doing. read more

Wow. Pretty disappointed this afternoon. I've been here three or four times over the last couple months and have always been very happy with my choice to come here. Unfortunately, today ended that streak. My hair stylist, Ella, could not have been more cold. In fact, the only reason I know her name is because I asked the receptionist on my way out the door. I was in and out in under 30 minutes for a haircut and beard trim and it felt so rushed. I felt like I was an inconvenience to Ella from moment I walked in. Halfway through my haircut, she was notified that she had another client waiting which only added to the heavy sighs and rushed work. I asked her to go a little shorter on top and I think she was hoping we were finished because my request was answered with an eyebrow raise and an eye roll. I'll be going somewhere else tomorrow morning to hopefully salvage the botched job that was done today. read more

The staff here was amazing. They were polite and very accomodating. I had an appointment at 6:15pm and I was coming from Rancho Cucamonga and hit traffic on the way. I did not get there until close to 7pm, which was closing time for them already. The owner, Krista stayed later and saw me. She did an excellent job. Today is Friday...last Monday I had a haircut and style at Metro...I won't say the stylist name but I got the feeling that she was just getting through the day...didn't say more than ten words to me at all. On top of that,she cut my hair badly. I have grey hair and they are some strong hair fibers and they do what they want. With her cut, I had hair standing out at all angles. I wasn't sure about it when I left, but thought that the next day is when I see how it really will look. Not any better. It was a busy week and the first time I had a chance to go back in was today after lunch...the stylist was not there, thank god but Krista was...Thank Gooodness...she redid the cut changed it around, and it looks great! Let me start off by saying that this place is one of a kind. Jessica is an amazing Stylist and always does an amazing job. She definitely knows how to make a client feel welcome and we always have something to talk about. Kudos to Erin as well--she is a wonderful manicurist and does a phenomenal job. Kim is Amazing! I booked an appointment for my husband to get his very first straight razor shave on his birthday.The best gift ever, might I add. He loved it, she even cleaned up his neck! My husband wanted me to take a few pics, and I felt awkward at first, but all the ladies there were so nice, and not cattish. I'm a hairstylist, myself (not a professional barber) and I cut my husband's hair, but Kim was able to give me some awesome tips on how to cut his neckline. Helpful, friendly and talented! I have been going to Metro for Men since 1996 when it was known as Seville Barbers. I met Krista, the current owner, on my first visit when she was one of the stylists. Over the years they have evolved their venue and services, but one thing never changes....this place is for MEN. It feels like a place for men, with Sports Screens at every station and a big screen in the waiting room. The warm wood tones and the entire atmosphere is very masculine. They even carry Men's hair, skin, and face products. The Ladies are tops, every one of them. Each one are very talented, pleasant, and conversant. They always offer you a beverage when you arrive. I've had several of the stylists cut my hair over the years and I can say they are each excellent. I will continue having my hair cuts at Metro for Men in Irvine until Krista opens another one closer to Orange, CA ;-D You can't go wrong here. Having spent my entire life in LA, I was going to the same woman at the same salon for over 10 years so I was very worried about switching to a new person when I recently moved to OC. Luckily a friend recommended Metro. I was greeted by Heather and immediately felt like I was a regular customer. Upon meeting Erika, my stylist, I felt like I had been coming to the salon my entire life! Just a follow up review. I have been going here since October 09, and I couldn't be more satisfied. My initial girl Lauren recently left (hey, it happens), but I got a new girl named Alyse that did a great job for my first cut with her. Krista (the owner) truly loves her business, and pays attention to the details and makes sure that her quality standards are never compromised. Since this was my first time with Alyse, Krista herself checked in periodically to make sure that I was happy and that the cut was up to her standards. I have been going to Grace for a couple years now (followed her through various locations outside of just Metro) and she has been accommodating for all those times I was late, was courteous and knowledgeable, and was nothing but kind. She also does some serious hair as she has gone through many hairstyle phases with me. Also, since I'm Asian and have straight black hair, it means that you can see every detail if it isn't cut right.
