JDM Owners Rejoice! Having only owned JDM cars my life and having recently purchased a 2006 Hawkeye STI, I can say without a doubt that this is the best service I have ever received in the automotive industry. After I bought my Subaru I ran into quite a few problems with oil leaks. After trying to self diagnose I assumed it to be the valve covers so I called up a Subaru Dealership to get a price on replacing the gaskets, only to be told that it would cost me $600 per valve and that a diagnosis to determine that would cost me $100 starting. After hearing that and feeling like this was a bit over the top I contacted a friend who at the time owned a 2005 Blobeye and asked if he had any suggestions, and oh boy was I happy he did. So I took my car to Rob over at Forced air after speaking with them and he put the car up on a lift right away and diagnosed the car. No fee, no hassle, and with FULL knowledge of the car he was inspecting. He was able to spot several things that were needing some work (including the valve cover seals) which we set an appointment up for that day. Want to know the best part though? I wasn't getting charged $1200+ dollars to get gaskets replaced. Now here's where Forced Air really shines in my eyes. After driving the car for a few months after my last visit I noticed some smoke coming from my engine bay so I gave them a call. I talked to Rob and he was actually concerned with my case and asked me to come in right away; didn't make me wait, didn't have to set up an appointment, he wanted to make sure that the car wasn't hurting and that I wasn't going to be stranded on the side of the road. Unfortunately the thing that all of Subaru owners don't want to hear happened; Ringland Failure. It was quite an upset for me to hear that, especially since I had only owned the car for a year and now the stock engine was toast. However, Rob and the rest of the guys over at Forced Air were able to work with me and help me get my personal dream car up to spec with a full Stage 2 build. I just got the car back today (8/20/2020) and I couldn't be happier with the result. So here's my conclusion on these guys. They are honest and caring individuals who actually give a damn about this community and the customers that they are serving. While they do specialize in Subarus I've seen various other tuner cars in the shop on my trips there. I've heard horror stories about people who take their blown Subarus to shops that don't know what they're doing or simply don't even touch the cars for months on end, only to be returned to the owner in the same or worse condition in what they brought it in. Rob has owned this shop for more than 20 years now and I can see why they're still around and always busy. I have been involved with performance automobiles for over 40 years. Based upon word of mouth recommendations I sought their services to completely rebuild my 1994 Toyota Supra turbo. My car is a one owner daily driver with many miles, yet in good shape because it was taken care of. This was a real risk as I have never done any business with FAT. Not only is this a top notch outfit, they would not consider the job complete until everything was done correctly. Everything they did was A+, issues arose because certain critical parts for this car are no longer manufactured. They had to find outside vendors to get these parts. Two of these critical parts were not made correctly. Rob at FAT would not accept these parts until the vendor got them right. This took FAT a number of times of installation to find the failure, then remove the part, send it back, and have the vendor correct it. For one of these the vendor was the only entity that made the part. On my behalf Rob stayed on them until he was satisfied they had gotten it right. Did this cost me any more? Not one dime! Im beyond happy with their service! I took my 2014 wrx into their shop not really knowing what the problem was. Turns out it was a hose that blew off my engine, which was common for my car since there's no clamp on it from factory. He took it back, threw a clam on it, and fixed in about 10-15 minutes. He saw my fluids were getting low and topped them off as well. He also didn't charge me since it was such an easy fix as to where most other shops would have made me pay for something so simple. I have taken my car here multiple times and the people that run this shop are so friendly and don't pressure you into taking your car in. They even gave me advice on how to fix another problem I had so I could save some money. I love going to this shop and have recommended it to all my friends that like to build their cars. I have two cars built from this very shop(2008 twin turbo mustang, 2004 wrx). Both of which run amazingly. This shop has been a name used in my family through my older cousin and many of his friends and now myself. My experience with the owner (Rob) has been nothing short of professional with a genuine additive of hospitality. He very much cares about the quality of work he and his team produce, and to be quite honest it shows. Probably one of the best performance shops in the phoenix area that is willing to go an extra mile for any customer. I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop to anyone. I just moved here in Phoenix AZ and was looking for a good shop for my 2014 Scion FR-S and I'm glad i saw this shop when i searched up for one. Rob and his crew took care of my car had my fluids changed and also had my car looked before I go for my long drive to california and for long storage, they are very knowledgable and also fully equipped to do anything that you want done to your car, and especially anything related to forced induction for your car. I recently visited FAT for my 2007 Acura RDX for check engine light. I am from India. I met Robert who greeted me cheerfully and treated me respectfully. Without asking for any diagnostic charges (unlike other shops) Robert grabbed his diagnostic tool, performed quick inspection and instant adjustments which took care of my problem. Whenever my Subaru Nozarashi is feeling under the weather FAT is the shop I schedule an appointment with for diagnostic repair/upgrade. I'd have to say that getting trustworthy discharge instructions from a knowledgeable shop has really helped to keep Nozarashi from typical Subaru detonations and my wallet from repeat repairs.
