I test drove a 2022 Toyota Corolla SE with over 80k miles on it $23,175, the second I stepped inside... the smell of cigarettes filled my lungs. My girlfriend is very straightforward and immediately told our salesman "it smells like shit in here" he stepped inside and his face immediately turned red. He laughed it off and said that they would 100% get rid of the smell for me but... why wouldn't they have already gotten rid of it??? Before allowing people to test drive it? This is a TOUGH market for buyers, especially those looking for a hybrid as dealer adjustments start at $3,000 and go up to $10,000 over MSRP. I originally went to Fordham Toyota for the 2023 Prius, but walked away. David was very respectful even though I wanted to explore other options. I ended up test driving a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid at another dealership and decided that was the car I wanted. 2023 RAV4 Hybrids are mostly accounted for (meaning before they arrive customers have already put a deposit down). I was lucky to find Fordham Toyota had a RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium in the color and with the packages I wanted, and I reached back out to David. We quickly negotiated price with a dealer adjustment of $2K over MSRP (good as it gets in this market, unfortunately), I put my deposit down, and got the car a few weeks later when it arrived! Interest rates are very high right now, so recommend bringing in your own financing options to get a better rate. Overall, David and Kelvin (in financing) were super professional, easygoing, and meaningfully moved on their initial deal adjustment and interest rate offerings. There was no unnecessary haggling back and forth. When I declined options like extended warranties and gap insurance, they respected my decision. My old Corolla was totaled by a truck so I had to buy a new car. I initially approached the dealership I had brought my car from in 2016, but they were jerking me around because there still aren't a whole lot of cars out there waiting on the lot of be purchased. So I went to toyota.com to see what's out there and called Fordham because I could get there on the subway and they had a car coming in that was exactly what I wanted in terms of model and interior and exterior color. I called and they asked me to come in, so I did that day and I worked with Darby, who was new but lovely. I told him that I wanted the car that I wanted and he showed me the exact one I saw online and said it would take two to four weeks to come in, but likely sooner. He was right. Even though he was new and forgot a couple of key things along the way (like whether I'd be financing and if so how), he communicated with me along the way and made sure everything was in place so I could get my car when it came in--early, as he predicted. I never felt any pressure to purchase anything I didn't want to from him or anyone else at the dealership. Everyone was respectful and I felt comfortable, which I think says a lot considering I'm a woman buying a car alone. I finalized the purchase and drove the car home on July 9, but I waited to write a review until now because I wanted to make sure the registration went through with the DMV. Everything is good now. The only critique I'd give is because my salesperson was brand new, the dealership should have made sure he had a little more supervision to make sure everything was covered, but otherwise I am really happy with my experience. I felt like I was treated with respect, which when you're making a pretty big and consequential purchase is important but in car sales seems to be rare. I was recommended by a friend to go through Costco Auto program. Unfortunately, the closes Toyota dealer which accepts Costco deals was this dealership. They did not charge me the extra market adjustment but during financing added extras to the contract which I had to fight with them to get removed. They assured me that I will receive the License plates in mail, and it has been more than a month and still have not received the plates. When I call them, I get no one to help me or tell me the status of plates. Leaving messages does not help as I don't get any call back. Avoid this place at all costs. After a review search of Toyota dealers in and around the city, I was thrilled to see that Fordham Toyota, a family-owned and operated business for over 30 years, boasted top ratings from consumers. I must say from the very first outreach I made to this dealer, the Fordham Toyota team consistently surpassed my expectations of this first car leasing experience. Noelia and Shereta were my first point of contact and both welcomed me and my mom (and our 6month old Doodle pups, both ESAs) with kindness and hospitality, working around our schedule for when we'd come in, and when we arrived, offered us (and even our pups!) water with a smile. The whole experience was seamless from the get-go because Noelia was thorough in her approach in asking us the necessary questions about which vehicle we would be interested in and diligent in ensuring the best vehicle to fit our needs before we even walked through the front door. I should mention that in a final note, while we were waiting for all the paperwork to go through, we made the acquaintance of a kind gentleman who identified himself as a porter, but we later came to find out that he was in fact the owner's father! We thoroughly enjoyed a great conversation with him and learning more about his family's business and chatting about life in general. They said it was because supply was low so they were up charging- but even with that being true, the price was abusive to the consumer & is taking extreme advantage. They would not honor the online promotion for the car which was cheaper, which was also confirmed on the phone prior to visiting. Why not just be more upfront on the phone & save me a trip? I also did not get the lady I had set up an appointment with on the phone. Got some random guy when I showed up at the dealer. Made me wait over an hour for that offer & would not budge. Then made it seem like I was crazy for not taking it or like another dealership was scamming me when they offered me a way lower deal on another car (was a Hyundai dealership). "Hector" started pushing things I didn't need or come for. I have been shopping around and doing my due diligence in leasing a new RAV4. Yes there is a global microchip shortage leading to a shortage in new cars. This dealership's website had a promotion for a 36 month lease on a new RAV4. I called the dealership's number and Melanie confirmed that they were honoring the deal. I came into the dealership on this premise but once I came to the physical location the sales rep denied me this. I was angry that there was no honoring the deal and the sales rep still was pushing to make a deal which made me furious. I should also clarify that there was no miscommunication or ambiguity about the state-mandated inspection that I asked for, specifically telling Franky I needed the inspection sticker. This wasn't done or addressed after the fact. They focused on the $4,000 repair instead of taking care of all the things we discussed. Finally it's worth adding that Fordham Toyota still calls me regularly asking for additional business ("your car is due for service...") without having addressed the above issues. I dropped off my Toyota Prius yesterday 1/23/19 and while I have had acceptable service at Fordham Toyota in the past, yesterday was unfortunately not acceptable. I called the day before as my lock on my hatchback has been slowly not working well and made an appt. I dropped off the car right when they opened and was told that a diagnostic test would need to be run which would cost 249. I strongly believe that this should be warned that this might need to happen before the customer brings in the car. Had I known that this would be the case, I most likely wouldn't have come in or at the very least would have discussed with my husband before dropping off. When this was told to me at 7a, I signed off on it, as I had already taken the day off to fix the car. At that point I waited in the lobby for 3 hours waiting to be told that I could leave. After an hour of waiting, I asked a customer service rep behind the desk who told me that I had to keep waiting and that I had to be called into the office. I waited for two more hours before finally asking my original contact, who explained that I could go. He apologized for the miscommunication, which was appreciated. Also, during my wait in the morning, an employee consistently referred to me as "honey." At that point I left, and found out that the service for the lock would be 589 and other various repairs that were suggested were quoted to be, in total, approx 1900. On my last conversation with my repI said I still wasn't sure what repairs I wanted to do, was still waiting on getting word from my husband but that I would let him know, even if it was by text (he had texted me before at some point during the day). I got word from on my end that it was ok to get the lock fixed/pay the 589 quoted to me for that service. I was about to call Toyota to let my contact at Toyota know that service could be started. Before I was able to I received an automated "courtesy call" from Toyota stating that service had been completed. I felt immediately panicked by this call worried that service had been done without my authorizing it. I thought that possibly all of the services suggested had been done and I would not have the ability to pay for all of these services at this time. I called immediately and asked to speak to my Toyota rep. I was told that he was unavailable. I then asked to speak to a manager or any person and I was told that I could not. I was told that my car was ready to be picked up and that was all that the receptionist knew or could tell me. At this point, 6pm, I rushed to get back to Toyota before it closed. I arrived a few minutes before 7p and was informed that no service had been done except the diagnostic test. I was told that I could leave my car or take it. Even though the car's lock had not been fixed, I decided to take it as I'd already spent one day devoted to the task of fixing the car with nothing having actually been fixed and with so much miscommunication that I decided best not to continue at Fordham Toyota. I paid the diagnostic fee including tax for a total of 278. I called and spoke to the service manager the following morning who offered to waive the diagnostic fee if I brought the car back in. I would just pay for the price that was quoted to me to fix the lock. This was always the "deal." He offered to have the car picked up, which I appreciated. I declined the offer. The service manager seemed to fail to see that his team had failed as far as providing satisfactory customer service. He said that I was contradicting myself and said he could not meet my request that the diagnostic test fee be refunded as a courtesy for the failures in communication. In short, if you would like a day where your car is fixed in a timely manner, without being called pet names, without being accused of contradicting yourself and with any hint of transparency of cost, save yourself the time, money and hassle, don't ever go to Fordham Toyota. read more

However, when I got there I was told that the sale price was based on a $2995 down payment with the remainder financed through the dealer. The conditions were not disclosed beforehand. In short, $19,995 was not the price at all when you consider interest. In fact, the actual cash price was almost $5000 more. WTF?? After speaking with a representative, she starting doing the whole run around about how its not in stock and might arrive within 5-7 business days, but then again it might not. (Tuesday 5/28/2019) I found the EXACT car I was looking for, color model year mileage, online at Fordham Toyota for a great price. I immediately emailed them asking if the car is still available in which Bianca answered yes. I then told them I can not make it that day but I can make it the next day at 7:30 pm and asked if credit card deposits were accepted. They answered back with a calendar appointment invite and said yes credit card deposits are accepted. End of emailing. (Wednesday 5/29/2019) I drove 1 1/2 hours to go in and look at the car and buy it in full. As I walked in for my scheduled appointment and sat down with the salesperson Alonzo, the only good thing about them, we watched the car show up in front of the dealership and drive off. Was sold just before I showed up. Found out when I was there that I could have given the deposit over the phone and not in person. I was never informed of that via email even though I specifically asked if they take credit card deposits. I also wasn't informed before driving that long, told them I was coming from long island, that someone was in the dealership that day buying the car. Wasted almost 3 hours of driving for all this. They have a real disconnect between the people answering the emails and the people on the sales floor. (Thursday 5/30/2019) I have received 2 emails, 1 asking how my visit was and the other promotional. I never signed up for promotional emails. I have also received a call/voicemail asking how my visit was. I am giving this place 1 star. BUT I would highly recommend Alozno. I am very pleased with the level of service I received at Fordham Toyota where I purchased my Camry. I worked with Marcos Pena who was knowledgeable, courteous, genuinely nice and patient. Prior to my appointment with Marcos, I'd already visited 4 other dealerships. I was taking my time to make sure I was getting both the best possible price and service. I didn't want to give my business to a place that I wouldn't want to return to as a repeat client. Initially, I honestly had no intention of buying when I met Marcos as I was still doing my due diligence. But after interacting with him, I decided make a deposit. He answered all of my questions, was easy to communicate with and available for the after-visit follow-up questions. He was upfront about the wait time due to the chain supply issue. Basically, the service dept of Fordham Toyota (FT) is too much sales and not enough service. Bought my car (Camry Hybrid) from FT a few years ago and to be safe (since it is a hybrid), I have been going back annually for maintenance and state inspection (not withstanding that they seem to charge a premium for every little thing). I brought my car this past Wednesday to FT for such annual servicing. As is typical, I drop it off when they open and pick it up at the end of the day. At 10 a.m., the FT service rep calls and tells me that the car is fine, including engine, transmission, tires, etc., but that the hybrid battery system needed maintenance and it costs $900, but out of the generosity of FT, I will get a 10% discount. After some back and forth to find out why such hybrid battery flush costs so much, I told him to go ahead and do it.. After paying close to $1000 at the end of the day in order to pick up the car, I found one of the tires to be flat each morning since then. This is the second time in last couple of years (and I just replaced the set of tires with Michelins in 2018) that I had tire problems within one month after the FT servicing. read more

Update 8/19/15 Fordham toyota has still not contacted me yet. I still have no reimbursement for the tires as they said will mail to me. Very poor customer service and unsafe vehicles. I will save our emails and conversations for future reference. Will contact the owner of fordham toyota soon. read more

Dealing with Frank Caputo was so refreshing. I had a number of bad experiences with other dealerships trying to purchase a CPO highlander XLE (bait & switch / additional undisclosed fees). Frank assured me (repeatedly) that there would be no additional fees tacked onto the agreed upon price and he kept his word! The salesman Kelvin took me for a test drive and completed the sale in a little over an hour. There were a couple little dings that Kelvin offered to fix in the couple days until I pick up the car.
