I'm a Tucker resident and we've been watching the Ford's BBQ location on Main St for awhile. Ever since The Greater Good BBQ closed down, there's been an opening out here. I stopped by on a Friday night a week after they opened. The menu was "soft opening" but the BBQ goodness was all here. We ordered a pitmaster platter and another full platter of sides to get as full an experience of the menu as possible. This is Texas BBQ, so the long slow smoke is the name of the game on the brisket. This is on point: char outside, light red around the rim, moist and flavorful on the center. Rub had flavor and I wish they had burnt ends on the menu. We also had St. Louis ribs, smoked turkey and chopped Boston butt pork. The turkey had flavor, which is a challenge on breast meat. The ribs......oh. Oh yes. Fell off the bone, great flavor on the rub. I liked the pulled pork, even though that's not my usual choice. It wasn't dried out, like many other joints. House sauce was right were you want, with flavor, kick and the brightness to contrast. Side dishes are key with good BBQ, and Ford's doesn't disappoint. Highlights include the vinegar slaw, with a great, bright kick on the first bite. GET THE CHILI. Meaty, well seasoned and a great meal alone if you want a full bowl. Creamed Corn was also a highlight. They put some peppers in there and it makes all the difference. My only down marks are really minor. Mac n Cheese is just that. They didn't overcook it like a lot of places, so the noodles actually still had some body, but how does anyone really make good mac n cheese? Needed salt. The seasoning of the collard greens, with enough vinegar, was perfect. There was also pork mixed in. The problem was it wasn't cooked long enough (to my good ole boy taste), so there was a bit too much crunch still in the greens. The folks running Ford's know what's important with BBQ. The bar is also stocked with local beers and the pours are generous. There's a patio with heaters for the COVID world. On the Friday I visited, the place was jumping and the bartender flying. They eventually stopped taking phone orders because the demand inside was too great. We are always hoping for success for restaurants on Main St in Tucker so I'm happy to report Ford's BBQ is worth a visit. We will be back. read more

Let me preface this review; I really wanted to give Fords a five star review. I'm a Tucker resident, and I'm a bit biased because I love to brag about the restaurants in my area. After seeing Fords open, I was, and still am that guy that wants to bring my friends to a great new spot. After dining twice, here are my thoughts: 1: The place itself is very nice. I loved the patio and the Ford themed interior. Everything is well done inside and outside. Great patio, and the beer selection is great. 2. BBQ: The brisket was dry as a bone. I've also ordered the pork sandwich, which was also really dry. I'm not sure how you take all of the moisture out of BBQ, but the BBQ is just flat out dry. The sauce, which is served in a small ramekin, really helps. Ask for extras! 3. Sides: The beans were fantastic. Mac and Queso was also really good. I'm not sure about the Coleslaw, it had a heavy vinegar taste without the "crunch" you look for in a good slaw. Overall, the slaw is a bit bland. Potato salad was solid. 4. Service and cost: We were greeted promptly and lead to a table outside. Great service, our server was friendly and attentive. Cost - wow, the prices are WAY out of whack compared to the portions and quality of q. A plate is close to $20 bucks, which is absolutely fine when the BBQ is fire, not when it's just mheah. 5: Summary: Please go here and give your reviews, we all want this restaurant to thrive. Perhaps our feedback will lead to positive change. The prices are above normal for the portion size and quality, but we need folks to patronize our local establishments during these difficult times. I decided to try Ford's given my favorite BBQ joint fell victim to the quarantine (Greater Good). I saw the 3.5 star rating, and figured I'd give it a shot anyway (it's easy for negatives to snowball on Yelp) Well.. I went on a Friday, They were fairly busy but my friend and I were seated fairly quickly on the patio. Given Menus, and were subsequently ignored for the next 20 minutes. So we decided to leave. On the way out, one of the other diners asked... "you giving up?" and went on to explain their wait (they managed to get one round of drinks)...and had been waiting on their food since before I had arrived. I get that times are tough for businesses, trying to find help. But if they offered a living wage...it wouldn't be an issue. I was hoping to find a replacement for the Greater Good, instead I ended up walking next door to Village Burger (was excellent btw) ...If Greater Good couldn't hold on... this place doesn't have a chance. We recently visited Fords BBQ is Tucker. Here is our rating of the items we purchased to go. 1. Rack of Ribs- Star of the menu in our option 5 Stars 2. Texas Cheesesteak- Good but we felt like provolone cheese would have made it better 3 Stars 3. Wings (6 piece $11) - we thought the wings would be whole wings for the price - Texture of wings felt under cooked - flavor sweet spicy was good but again under cooked - 2 Stars 4. Mac & Queso - 1 star (lacking good home cooked flavor) 5. Potato Salad - very good just a tad bit salty - 4 stars 6. This past Sunday was my first time at Ford's. I was craving BBQ and decided to have lunch. I decided on the queso for an appetizer and a pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese. When the app came out, the cheese dip was like warm at best. I asked if they could reheat it and they did, no problem. I will say I liked the house chips. They were different than anything I've had before. The sandwhich also came out cold...and soggy. The BBQ sauce was pretty watery. The Mac and cheese was ok but at least it was hot. I am giving 3 stars specifically for the waitress who went above and beyond during my time at the restaurant. Ford's has A LOT of potential....but they definitely still need a lot of work. read more

I visited this establishment last weekend. It's a small place but it was packed and they had a line out the door of people ordering to-go meals. I was able to find a seat at the bar and It took a while before I was serviced because the only bartender there was also the one taking the to-go orders. It was disheartening listening to the bartender tell customer after customer that their order would be ready in 30 minutes, but I was pleasantly surprised when my rib plate arrived in only 10 minutes. On the other side of the bar there is a large window looking over their patio. For some inexplicable reason they left it open. It was 48 degrees that night. Prior to sitting down, I had removed my jacket but quickly put it back on due to the chill. My rib plate was good, while it was warm, especially the Mac & Queso. However it didn't take long for the meal to cool and other than ice cream, who likes to eat cold food? Perhaps I will try this place again next spring. read more

I used to really enjoy this place. But over the last several months, it seems like every time I walk in there, they tell me that they don't have 1/2-3/4 of their menu available. Seriously. It's not abnormal for this bbq restaurant to say "we are out of pork, brisket, stew, and potatoes". Huh? At a bbq establishment? If this didn't happen so much, I would leave a much better review. Consistently one of the best restaurants in Tucker. We love visiting at least once a week - everyone who works here is kind and happy to see us when we walk in the door. The food is above and beyond good flavors for bbq. I love their wings, jalapeño cream corn, and house bbq sauce. There are so many good things to choose from on the menu though, you just have to go back again and again to try it all! If it's your first visit, order the cornbread waffles as an appetizer. Yes lord. The south has a lot of BBQ. Just because you're southern, that doesn't mean you can make a mediocre bbq and open a shop. This place however, is the best tasting BBQ I have had in recent memory. I don't like turkey, but tried it anyway - ate it all. Pork on onion bun - great. Ribs were the only meh. I had (foodie) family from California here to celebrate my mom's 99th birthday. They were good enough to accommodate 9 of us on a Saturday night. Everyone raved about the food. Our server Drake was so good to us even anticipating what a 3 y.o. and 6 y.o might want. More family coming in town and we will do a repeat. This is a good Texas Style BBQ spot serving good food and drinks! I had the sliced fatty brisket and it was everything you want in a brisket - nice smoke ring, tender, and delicious! The mac and cheese side was good nothing unforgettable and the cole slaw was delicious. The place itself is pretty small inside so when the weather gets warmer then I'll definitely be enjoying the patio. Got to say not impressed. I got the pulled pork and the beef brisket. The pulled pork was not pulled, it was chopped. The brisket was completely dried out. The chopped brisket was the equivalent to chopped beef jerky. The host that sat us kept complaining was "so bored" to the co workers. My husband and I loves coming to Ford's BBQ ...the staff is always very nice and treat you as if you are a special customer. I went Saturday, June 29, 2021. While it didn't take long for us to get seated -- I was with three other friends -- the remaining experience wasn't great. Two words to describe this experience. Over-priced BBQ. I paid extra for the platter to receive what I thought would be "more" pulled pork. I was wrong. I asked the waitress to confirm the portion was correct, she did and confirmed it was. My two friends got the sliced beef brisket platters. They got so much more meat compared to the pulled pork. I was disappointed. So were my friends. Don't waste your money on over-priced BBQ. read more

I will never go back here. Food was good, but they need to train / hire servers with morals and work on ethics. I left a $10 cash tip on my $16 order that I paid with card. Big tip right?? I get home and my phone alerts me that a $3 tip was added to my order. Wtf. How dare you take my money after I left you a tip!?! How dare you add a tip and change my receipt I signed. It's only $3. That's not the point. It's the principle. Don't steal from me. It was a kinda chubby white male as my waiter. I will NEVER go back here because that's just wrong. You can test your luck. I went here for the first time on 02/28/21 and after reading the reviews and looking at the pics I was looking forward to my first visit!! Little did I know IT MAY IN FACT BE MY LAST!! As I entered this place a hostess greeted me and asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside. " Inside" I replied and she attempted to seat me at a 6 person hightop table which wasn't gonna work as I don't do high tops. There was a booth available and I asked if I could sit there. She replied " Yes for now it's OK but if we get busy we might need it". So I'm like if it's going to be a problem please let me know. First thing I notice is the table and especially vintage car bench seat did not appear clean and I am a STICKLER FOR CLEAN IN GENERAL BUT ESPECIALLY SINCE COVID- 19. I asked the same hostess to clean it off which she does with a wet rag and the seat is sopping wet so I ask her to dry it and at that particular moment she does it but I can tell already she is NOT HAPPY ABOUT HAVING TO DO SO AND IT IS VISIBLE IN HER BODY LANGUAGE!! A short while later a young man approaches me and asked if I'm ready to order. He never tells me his name but I told him this was my first time here and I need a few minutes but I order my drinks at this time. Shortlt thereafter my hostess brings me my drinks and asked if I'm ready to order. I tell her I'd like a little more time so she goes away. The next time she comes by she tells me right off the bat " We're out of Turkey, Brunswick Stew, Curly Fries and I think Green Beans". Damn I was going to get the Turkey!! Oh well so much for that idea. Now for Plan B. I tell her I like my meat Very Lean and could they do that with the Brisket at which I was told we can do fatty or lean not extra lean. Ok. Now for Plan C. So I go with the Veggie Plate. You get 4 Veggies for $14. I start with the Chili Con Carne. It was hot and had a few chunks of meat in there. The rest was all beans and it was very tomatoey but tasty. Not your Garden Variety mind you. Next up was the BBQ Baked Beans which were actually QUITE GOOD AND NICE AND HOT!! My third choice was the Creamed Corn which from one of the reviews was "ON POINT" so I thought I'd give it a go. Bad Choice.....It reminded me of that crap you get out of a can which I despised as a kid whenever my mom made it. NASTY!! The next time my server came by I asked her what was in the potato salad and she said " mayo, salt and pepper" so I thought " What the hell let's go for the Potato Salad". Bad Call. The Potato Salad was DROWNING IN MAYO AND THAT WAS ALL I COULD TASTE. It tasted like something a Child would Make....Eeewwww. So the next time my server comes by I say " Look I don't want to send anything else back and waste food so could you just give me a sample of the collard greens and mac and queso" and she said " that's fine with her as she'd rather not waste food either. Oh I almost forgot to tell you I wanted Vinegar Slaw for my 3rd veggie when the table next to me got THE LAST ONE!! UNBELIEVABLE....EVERYTHING WAS RUNNING OUT!! Well the Collards were not my " Cup of Tea" but the Mac and Queso was good. Not overly spicy but it could have been HOTTER TEMPWISE...BARELY WARM!! At this point I was debating on dessert instead of another veggie so I asked about the Banana Pudding and she says " We're OUT....OMG....REALLY?? At that point I ask to speak with the manager and she tells me she's one of the managers so I just told her I was very frustrated that they were out of so many things I wanted and she tells me they get their trucks on Monday and Sundays are always busy for them so I told her I guess I need to pick another day to visit. The bartender ended up taking over at the end so I asked for my check, paid it and left. I'm probably being KIND giving this place 2 stars because not a single solitary person told me their name or apologized for any of the things they were out of or at least that I did not like 2 of the sides I tried. I usually ask for samples at a BBQ Joint of the sides if it's my first visit or I never had them before. Please see pics attached of some of my food. This place did not disappoint! The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is super cool and the host was very quick to sit us. We started with the smoked wings with bbq rub and added the sweet heat as a sauce! I would highly recommend. We also had the three meat special which was killer! I got here at 7:10. Because I had a dog with me, I had to stop inside and tell them that I wanted to eat outside. I waited 15 minutes at the check-in desk before somebody finally came. She gave me a menu and walked around inside. I walked around outside and sat down on the patio. I then waited for over 20 minutes for someone to come and take my order and finally got up and asked one of the waitresses if somebody could take my order. She said she would talk to her manager and came back a few minutes later and said somebody will come out in a few minutes. I waited another 10 or 15 minutes before somebody took my order. the first two things that I asked for were not available so I settled for brisket sandwich.. I asked for it to be lean. When I got it, I spent probably 10 minutes cutting fat off of it and ended up with about half the meat that was on the plate. The food was OK but the service was absolutely ridiculous. By the way, next to me was a table of eight people who also had waited about a half an hour for somebody to come to the table. They finally got up and left the restaurant. When I told the waitress that since nobody had come out, they lost eight customers and she said oh well. Guess they don't care. read more

The food can be good when it's in stock. How Weber the service lately has plummeted in quality and courteousness. I've been waiting for 30 min to place and receive my Togo order only to find out after all this time they don't have what I ordered. In the meantime I've seen the host give tremendous attitude towards other patrons which is disappointing. I've asked for my money to be refunded since the food was not available and I'm still waiting for the refund as there is no sense or urgency even after all this time. read more

First off I love the industrial decor!! The food was so good as well! I got chopped brisket, pulled pork, collards, and the vinegar slaw. I genuinely enjoyed my meal. The coleslaw definitely a vinegar slaw and did not look like the average coleslaw but nonetheless I still enjoyed it. Now, I am VERY picky when it comes to Mac and cheese and I would love to say they had amazing Mac and cheese! I ended up eating more than half of my boyfriends sides of Mac and cheese. My boyfriend and father brother had reservations about their sides, I enjoyed them, but enjoyed the meats they got. The green beans had a little bit of a kick to them but it was pulled off so well. The Brunswick stew was okay, I had never had it before so I did not know what to expect. read more

If I could give 50 stars, I would. It's soo good. My boyfriend and I have been 4 times this week, including last night for dinner and today for lunch. The place is super cozy and welcoming and charming, the staff is incredibly friendly, they have cheerwine, and the food is *chef's kiss*. Or is it *pit-master's kiss*? I think adding that would make a lot of people happy!! They only have jalapeño ranch & it is pretty spicy soo I wish they would have a regular ranch. Finally, nearly real texas BBQ in Atlanta! I'm talking brisket people. A lot of places make it and most places do it wrong. This place comes the closest I have found to Austin, TX BBQ. All hail the pink smoke ring. That's the holy grail of brisket. No oven time. None of this bragging about 7 Hours. It takes 12-14 or more, off the flame, and rubbed. No sauce is needed! Thank you Ford's for coming close. Can't go five stars because even filling stations in Austin are better than every BBQ place in Georgia. Consider the 4-stars to be an honor. read more

This is the best BBQ joint in Tucker hands down. First, the environment is laid back and the patio is really good and dog friendly. They smoke the meat in house and every menu rotation has been awesome. Top Picks: -brisket -chorizo -pork belly They added birria tacos to the menu recently and they are a 10/10. They cole slaw is absolutely stellar and I do not like cole slaw... vinegar based, finely chopped...its bomb. The service staff has been very friendly, with a particular shout out to Megan, who makes us feel like we are eating at our neighbors back yard. love it.
