We ordered half rack of ribs, brunswick stew, and the salad. The salad was the best part... half rack of ribs were not dry, just super fatty and I believe our ribs were mismatched with other ribs.... not a good look. The brunswick stew had chunks of inedible mystery meat, straight bones and cartilage. Also, why is it so sweet? Trying to hide how old it is? Server is too busy taking care of a toddler and talking with other workers to notice our drinks are low, booth seats are uncomfortable and sinking like it was a bean bag jamboree... was never asked for a refill and out of the 10 questions I had about the food, I don't think that particular waitress could tell me the difference between a pork rib and a beef rib. Unfortately this BBQ is terrible. They asked when I ordered if I wanted my brisket "fatty" or "lean". I've never been asked that question at a BBQ joint before. My wife and I ordered the pitmasters platter to go (they are full open for dine -in). First of all, if you do decide to order ask they split it up. I assumed they would put meats in different boxes but they did not. Beef on top of pork on top of turkey. Just careless. Impressions: the brisket, and turkey were flavorless. And one piece of brisket sliced was completely fat. I had the pulled pork, it was worse than if I did it myself. The ribs were pathetic. They did not fall off the bone, they were not smoked, they were small and a waste of time. The WORST meat is the sausage. Its a johnsonville jalapeño and cheddar sausage. WTF! The ABSOLUTE worst part is their trash sides. We ordered mac & queso. That speaks for itself. I should have been skeptical but there are only so many options. Then there is the green beans-awesome if you like flavorless-straight-out-the-can green beans. The vinegar slaw is confusing as hell. What is this? Its like got cumin, cilantro, and mexican seasonings. Stay away from it The only redeeming part of the meal was the potato salad which was well seasoned, but watery as hell (see pic). The worst experience. I hear the food is good. But, service is punitive. We asked for service after 30 minutes. A waitress came and took away some of the dirty dishes. 10-15 minutes later 3 waitresses came out and cleaned three empty tables. After that rudeness, we just gave up. Another lady who the hostess had seated behind us said she'd been sitting for an additional 15 minutes to us. Usually, I'm willing to give a place a second chance. But, to clean 3 empty tables and refuse service by three waitresses--too big a slap in the face. Some of our friends did get waited on. Took an hour to get waited on. First trip to Ford's BBQ. Was really wanting to like this place, and we did like the vibe and the service, but things went downhill from there. We ordered the BBQ Poutine as an appetizer. Having had poutine in Quebec and other places, we were looking forward to it. It wasn't bad, but it would be more accurate to call it BBQ Fries, or something like that. It was curly fries, covered in queso and chopped pork. Again, not bad, but poutine as I've had it before is fries, a spicy brown gravy and cheese curds. We both ordered sandwich platters, one brisket, one pulled pork. The pulled pork was ok, more chopped than pulled and a bit too much fat. You can find better pork around here. The brisket was just not very good. Do not take Texans to this place. As for the sides, the fried okra was great, except for one detail, some pieces had no salt, other pieces were almost too salty to eat. Not much in between. Fortunately, most fell in the too little salt range. Whoever fried it, did it perfectly, not a lot of batter, and you could still taste the okra inside. The Brunswick stew was decent, as were the cowboy beans and mac and cheese. They were out of the creamed corn and green beans. The person at the hostess desk seemed preoccupied with sorting crayons vs. speaking to us in order to seat. It was busy and we chose the outside patio. I got the turkey platter. I usually get this when I do go to Fords for $20. They usually give you a decent amount of meat. It was supposed to be a half pound of turkey but as you can see it is not and when I took it back to the store the lady at the bar wouldn't even look at it or try to resolve the issue she just told me there's nothing she could do. I guess because I'm a black female they don't give us the same respect. My mom also went there before and they gave her order to a man then told her they sold out of wings after she had ordered and paid, and yes she did order before that gentleman. This was my go to spot but after they hired these new employees I will not be returning or suggesting Fords to anyone from here on out. read more

This place just opened recently and I was ecstatic to try the local BBQ place being the BBQ expert I am from Texas. Let me just say this place did not disappoint and blew the competition out of the water! The meat was moist and flavorful. The original BBQ sauce had a hint of spice (LOVE) and not overly sweet or heavy. The SIDES. This is SO IMPORTANT. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. We had the Mac and cheese, vinegar slaw, fried okra, baked beans, and creamed corn. The vinegar slaw was more of a salad of fresh onion, cabbage, vinegar sauce. A perfect topping to a BBQ sandwich! The fried okra had an amazing batter! Not too much, not too thin. Baked beans were thick and had meat (Brisket?) in them? SO GREAT! Creamed corn I was questionable about when we ordered... MY FAVORITE SIDE! More of like a southwest corn soup with red peppers and black beans. FANTASTIC! My boyfriend and I HAD TO meet the owner, Justin and his wife, Faith. They were so gracious and thankful for our praises. So much love. Not to mention they have Tito's Vodka and Lemonade on DRAFT. HELLOOOOOOOO. When we were here the brisket and ribs were sold out. So we drove past our home in Lilburn to Main Street in Tucker. We knew we would enjoy Las Colinas, but here was Ford's, that we'd not been to before. A new establishment for us! Great! The food is a little pricey, but it is PHENOMENAL! They had the best Brunswick stew and banana pudding I've had. The Mexican coke floats were enormous! (Please invest in long-handled spoons!) I personally have a love-hate relationship with proteins, but the Fresh Air pork sandwich I had was amazing! Tried for the first time this afternoon - timed it between the lunch crowd and dinner rush. Interior is small and almost cozy - and I found a seat at the uncrowded bar - great! The bartender was super nice and accommodating - 5 stars. Cold draft beer - check. I ordered the rib (half rack) plate and chose collard greens and potato salad for my two sides. My ribs came out very quickly - almost too quickly. Anyway, they were good but, not great - Smokey and a bit too dry, unfortunately. We stopped by for lunch. The pork bbq, sausage, and fried okra were good. The vinegar slaw might have included some onion and cilantro, giving it a bitter taste. The interior is attractive. As mentioned in another review, there's a large window behind the bar that opens onto the patio. The window stays open all the time, so when a door is opened it creates a cold breeze. Being open to the exterior seems to be the hip thing in dining. We went to a Universal Joint bar some time ago that was so cold inside that we left and had dinner at a different restaurant. Ford's has a good selection of beer. Some bars are all IPA beers and weird-sounding things I haven't tried. Ford's has DOS XX, Shiner, Tecate and so forth. They also have some bizarro cocktails that might be fun to try. So you can have your old reliable beer or something truly frightening. read more

Let's start with with the good.. we had a friendly server named Lou that was trying to make the best of their bad situation... seems like Ford's was not expecting any customers (there were 12 tables during our visit) at 1:45 PM on Labor Day. Now, the bad... the 'BBQ' is subpar at best. It took over 90 minutes from being sat for us to get our barely room temperature BBQ. Everything was cold so i wonder what the wait was for!! Most sides were out and we never got the replacement sides that were offered. The first round of cocktails were great, 2nd round of drinks, were all made incorrectly (a milky jalapeño margarita?!?!) and took about 15 minutes to be replaced... I returned to Ford's with a friend for lunch on a beautiful day. We sat out on the patio and had a great experience. We enjoyed some drinks, apps and our meals were fantastic. Seem's like Ford's has really improved quite a bit and I can't wait to go back. My main issue with Ford's was the serving size compared to price and they have definitely dialed that in. My husband and I came here on accident actually because we were intending on visiting a restaurant across the street but they were closed for cleaning and they recommended we come here. We were seated immediately. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This place is dog friendly in case you want to bring your pup out for an adventure! We kept it simple on our meals and ordered the BBQ plate with 2 sides. The food was okay at best. Best thing on my plate was the fried okra. They didn't have many options for BBQ sauce and both were eh. Heavy on the vinegar. It didn't taste balanced at all. I think that alone kept me from enjoying my food the most. Well you know they always say eat where the locals eat. I took my gf and I here,cause she said she heard it was good. Well she was right. We had the pulled pork ,collard greens and mac n cheese. The pulled pork had a nice smokey flavor. The collards were well cooked and with the touch of pepper sauce it was the bomb. They use them big ole fat noodles for their Mac n cheese. The Mac was very cheesy and quite tastee. They were out of Brunswick stew though. How does a bbq place run out of Brunswick stew. However the service and quality of the food was fantastic. It has been a while since my last visit to Fords. I got takeout last night and was impressed with both the speed of prep and the tastiness of the sweet heat wings. On the flip side - the sides I ordered (cowboy beans and Brunswick stew) - were not great. The portion sizes seemed smaller although it may have been different packaging - hard to tell. The taste was also a challenge with both options. It tasted as though both sides were hit with a heavy handed dose of vinegar or something sour. I have had both sides previously and these just did not taste the same or all that good. Maybe a glitch in the cook and a changed recipe. I am not sure but neither did much for me. I will try them again at some point for the wings or ribs but it was not a home run for me. read more

Delicious! You have to get the bloody Mary (with a rib on top!) We also got the poutine and it was amazing! The beet salad was huge and delicious, we ended up splitting it between 4 people since we had all ordered entrees. The service was phenomenal, especially since we had a party of 10! 10000000% would recommend! Our server was drake and he was AHMAZING!! First try: We called to place an order to pick up; recording stated they are not taking calls for pick up orders because they are too busy. Second try: A few weeks later, we again attempted to place order to pick up over the phone and, yet again, there was a recording saying they are not taking call orders for pick-up. Third try: A month or so later, we went to the restaurant to sit outside and have an early dinner (around 6:00 p.m.) Waitress told us they were out of just about everything except a couple of items that sounded extremely unappealing to us. You can count on the food taking much much longer than it should (especially for BBQ) and the quality of the food is a crap shoot. Sometimes ok. Often under or overcooked. They run out of food very often. There is one great server there but other than her it's rotating crew of inexperienced servers who seem perpetually in the weeds even when the place is half empty. I suppose holidays are tough on restaurants, but this was an exceptionally bad experience this Father's Day. With a hostess that exuded contempt from go, a kitchen that ran out of 3 (pulled pork, sliced brisket and ribs..all before 7pm) staples for any bbq joint, and what was available was just dry and over salted, I'd say this was a big miss. The cucumber salad consisted of dry sliced cucumber smothered in dried dill, red onions and absolutely no dressing of any sort. Sound good? Nope. Must of been a mistake, but with such a floundering wait staff we just sucked it up. Honestly the Least of concerns with this evening's experience. Mac and cheese was pretty much a salt lick. Sausage was bizarrely crispy on the outside, with a strangely unremarkable flavor. Wings were also over salted. All of these foods weren't on my first choice list, admittedly, but that's what we were down to on the limited menu. Turkey was dry, but what turkey isn't a little dry? Smother it in sauce, it's fine. A very apologetic wait staff wasn't enough to make me wanna come back. On the bright side, The outside seating was nice and I enjoyed my beer and they made a great spicy margarita. I had high hopes, but it was all a true disaster. As I said before, this was relatively early in the evening and not overwhelmingly busy that I could tell. We were in before 6. Part of the problem was the overly busy wait staff so it took nearly an hour to place the order and by that time they were out of everything we wanted. I wish them good luck in the future and I hope some thought goes into fixing these issues. I love all great bbq and the atmosphere here is terrific. Hopefully it was just a bad night. read more

2.5 stars for a Tucker BBQ spot that has promise but could use some work. My wife and I were looking to grab a bite to eat recently and decided to check out Atlanta Eater. We saw an article about 15 New Atlanta Restaurants and noticed 1 of them called Ford's BBQ was relatively close to us. We then looked at the solid reviews and decided to hop in the car to check the place out. We arrived at Ford's BBQ, located on Main Street in downtown Tucker, parked our car, and headed towards the door. The first thing we noticed is that are 2 doors and no signs (at least at that moment) about which one is the entrance. We picked the door on the right and realized we should have went in the left. Fortunately, the hostess noticed and asked where we wanted to sit. We asked for outside and were able to get a table out on the nice patio after waiting at the bar for a few minutes. We decided to grab a couple drinks from the bartender during that time, who was rather pleasant but was also a bit upset about somebody else not tipping him and distracted in not knowing to whom he should return a credit card. The drinks he made us (I got a Whiskey and Wine, which is Cherrywine with whiskey) were pretty solid and strong to go along with the price. We headed outside and grabbed a seat next to some pretty strong heaters. We then waited for a pretty long time for somebody to come serve us. Most of the wait staff were busy getting the place ready to close, so we couldn't get someone to help us for a while. Our waitress finally came outside to help us (I guess she thought that the bartender was handling our order), but as soon as I asked a question, she left again and took care of the ticket for the table next to us before finally coming back to take our order. She briefly apologized, blamed the delay on thinking the bartender was handling our order, and claimed she would have helped us immediately if she knew. This wasn't a huge deal (my wife and I are pretty patient diners), but we were pretty close to leaving and the focus on shifting blame rather than a good apology wasn't a great way to start a meal. Once we got into order mode, we asked about ordering the Pitmaster Platter (which comes with a bunch of meats and sides for $40) and whether that was viable since we had overheard another waitress say the venue was out of turkey. Our waitress responded that they were out of several meats for the night but still had pork and brisket and recommended getting the 2 meat combo plate. We took her advice and then asked if it was possible to have the street corn as one of the sides. Despite only costing 50 cents more than the regular sides and us being willing to pay an upcharge, she said the system was not set up to allow her to do that and she had to answer that question with other customers earlier that night. Advice for the venue: if you have appetizers that are like sides both in composition and price, you should make those options for an upcharge. We decided to order the street corn and the chicharrones to start, which turned out to be the highlight of our meal. The street corn was absolutely delicious (again, venue should make that a side option and just have a higher upcharge) and the chicharrones were fresh and fun. Soon after finishing our appetizers, the waitress brought out our 2 meat platter and it was...kind of disappointing. The 2 meats barely combined for enough meat to fill a sandwich (see picture) and didn't include any fatty pieces which my wife selected when given the option (my guess is that the kitchen was running out of meat and just threw on what it had left). The curly fries were solid (although I don't get the high praise from other review), but the coleslaw was pretty mediocre and just off for some reason (I think it needs some type of sweet or tangy ingredient to make it work). We finished about half of the platter before asking for our checks. The waitress asked if we didn't like the food and we politely said it was fine (bc it wasn't bad per se) and she kind of shrugged it off, took our plates, and brought us the check. It was pretty clear that our meal experience wasn't great, so the lack of any type of recognition of that was a little disappointing and probably would not have went over well with less patient eaters. Overall, Ford BBQ has some good qualities and I'm sure often provides good experiences and will get better as time goes by (I believe Ford's was only about 3 months old as of the writing of this review). The venue is cute and some of the food and drinks were solid. However, those qualities didn't stand out enough to overcome the deficiencies we had with this particular experience. As I was telling my wife in the car as we left, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back if friends wanted to grab brunch here in the future, but I don't think we will be seeking this spot out for a weekday dinner again. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: The first time my hubby and I went to Ford's it was not good. We've been 5-7 additional times at this point and it has been GREAT! The menu has much more to offer and the food is MUCH better. We are thrilled to have Ford's so close by. When I order my BBQ pork plate or sandwich I ask for them to use the softest meat vs the burnt tips which is why I didn't like my sandwich the first time we went. The queso is also much better, as it's white cheese vs the weird orange we were served the first time and add the smoked jalapeños as they make it so much better too.
