So I spent the majority of my college career supporting Myself by working in restaurants and I know what it's like to get sat that huge party. The general rule of thumb is one server equals 16 customers. Our party had 32 people and it and guess how many servers we had to ourselves? One server. Her name was Petra. This woman ran her tail off for us and did an excellent job but the restaurant was definitely not being fair to her as no server should have to handle 32 people all by their selves. She managed to take everybody's drink order and after taking multiple trips back to the bar with no help she was able to deliver drinks to everybody and by the time she was done delivering drinks the first people were ready for another round. Fortunately we pre-ordered some appetizers and they came out we had some onion rings over on some oil filler spout things and we also had some nachos and breadsticks which was all actually pretty good. But I could not get away from poor petra working her butt off and not getting any help. I managed to get up and take a trip to the restroom and on the way back I saw somebody who I presumed was the manager on duty. The MOD was very good at hanging out at the hostess stand or smoking and joking behind the bar. So I asked MOD was there any way Petra could get a little help because she's really working hard and could use it. The MOD stated oh yeah she's got lots of help people are bringing the food out of the kitchen. While I understand the concept of using food Runners she still needed help taking orders, clearing plates, and clearing the dirty glassware that was now stacking up. Any manager worth his salt who may not have already noticed they had a party of 32 taking up half his restaurant probably would have jumped in to help bus, deliver food, or help get drinks. However MOD is not that kind of guy. MOD likes to chill at the hostess stand. Our food started coming out and unfortunately as I predicted food for a massive party such as ours tends to sit and died on the line. My bosses hamburger was pretty much cold. Fries were cold. I asked him if he wanted to send it back he said no way I can't make that poor girl running harder than she already is she simply doesn't have any help. About the half Waypoint with the food being delivered, almost half the food was coming out lukewarm to chilled so it was obvious that nobody was helping. My food however was one of the last orders to come out and it was plenty hot. Now I understand that some people reading my reviews are going to say hey dummy you had a party of 32 what did you expect? Well I would expect that since we made the reservation a month in advance that the restaurant would be adequately staffed and the manager on duty would do what managers are supposed to do which is help out a server who needs some help. But that wasn't the case here. Overall had the food been warm it would have rated much much higher. But the restaurant knew we were coming and knew they had to prepare and yet they weren't. If I have to break the review down I would give the food a mediocre 3. I would give do-nothing MOD a -4 and I would give server of the Year Petra a full-on five stars. She tried so hard and smiled throughout the whole event. I think they should make Petra the manager. read more

I was visiting a friend in town back in November and we went here during lunch on a weekday. I asked her for a unique restaurant, something that I wouldn't see back in Charleston, SC and so she decided that we would come here. She was right! The outside of the restaurant looks an old vintage gas station/car garage with gas pumps and cars while the inside was well decorated with a vintage car that was suspended and a bunch of other historical car decorations. I'm a sucker for themed or one of a kind restaurants. The seating that they have also reminded of a classical dinner with its vintage fashion and layout. The service was fine, we got our food orders in a reasonable amount of time and our waitress checked up on us. The food: I ordered the Asahi Sashimi Tuna Burger with Truffle Fries and my friend ordered the Mushroom Swiss and Truffle Fries. The food came out quick and it looked amazing. It was a large portion and I liked that they brand their name into the buns and a toothpick with the name of the tuna as it helped with its presentation. I love eating sushi and raw things so the Sashimi Tuna which was slightly cooked was right up my alley. The Truffle Fries were some of the best fries I've ever had and were very addicting. My friend enjoyed her Mushroom Swiss as well. A nice surprise that we got at the end was a 20% discount! My friend was in full uniform so our server gave it to us without having to ask. I thought the bill was fair for the high quality of the food and service. Overall, this restaurant is worth going to at least once to see their unique decorations and interior design. Meh. That really sums up my feeling of our dinning experience at Ford's Garage, Brandon tonight. We chose Ford's because they have a veggie patty for my son's girlfriend who is a vegan, so bravo for that option. When our server came over, we put in our drink and appetizer order, the GIANT FUNNEL TOWER OF JUMBO PISTON ONION RINGS. The onion rings came out about 10 minutes after we ordered it but we didn't have any appetizer plates until our server walked by and noticed the food runner didn't leave us any. I wasn't too happy with wet appetizer plates but we wiped them off with our cloth napkins and went on eating our appetizer. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon, my oldest son ordered the lobster mac and cheese and my youngest son and I ordered chicken tenders. There were several times are server would walk by and noticed empty glasseseating drink refills and never brought them by on occasion she would bring one refill and leave one or two of us with ice glasses. I finally had to flag her down and point to the empty glass, which I'm never a fan of doing to a server. I think at this point she noticed I was pretty ticked and walked by us every 5 minutes making sure we were okay. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich, my son's girlfriend enjoyed her veggie burger, my oldest son devoured his lobster mac and cheese but my youngest son and I we're not fans of the chicken tenders. They were too bready to where the breading against the chicken was wet, almost raw flour tasting. I've been giving a lot of leeway during the coronavirus and restaurants doing their best to keep up with limited clientele as well as their limited menus but there are just some things that weren't alostar waiting for me and that's the drink refills, the lack of proper attention from the server and the wet appetizer plates. I'd say I won't be back for a while, but it's one of the few options we have to include our son's girlfriend when we dine out because they do offer vegan burgers. read more

The food and service was good BUT there was a large party that appeared to be dance parents and their kids. The kids were running, yelling, screaming, and climbing/doing gymnastics on the outside railings. The parents were inside drinking. It was so loud we could not hold a conversation. The manager said there wasn't much he could do if the parents didn't control the kids. It was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Okay, so this is a preliminary review. If you think this might be a place you'll want to frequent for years to come, DON'T GO HERE FOR ANOTHER FEW MONTHS. I can't even get in to the food because I sincerely am not sure if it was good. There are a lot of new restaurant kinks to be worked out here- it took 52 minutes to get our order of 3 burgers & a pulled pork mac and cheese. Two managers (Jeff & Amber, both very nice) came to help out after one "medium" burger was bloody & sent back. The two other medium burgers were okay. They took 20% off our checks and comped the bloody burger. A lot of miscommunication amongst staff, but I'm going to wait it out to return for one more try, maybe in October? First it took 12 minutes to be greeted, then Ordered wings that never arrived, so I asked our server about them still never showed up then when our burgers showed up i requested MEDIUM AN GOT WELL DONE. I had heard mixed reviews about Ford's Garage, but I thoroughly enjoyed it after I got to visit for lunch today! It is located very close to my workplace on Causeway in Brandon in the former Buca Di Beppo building near Cheddar's. There is plenty of parking since the restaurant shares a lot with Joann Fabric and several other businesses. I like that the seating is spread out and they did not try to cram tables together to crowd the place. They also have a few outdoor tables with limited waitstaff. My friend and I waited about 15 minutes to be seated on this particular Thursday around 1pm. I would imagine the wait is a bit more extensive on the weekend. Almost all of the other diners during our visit were senior citizens enjoying some burgers and sweet tea. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We took forever to decide on our drink and food choices but she was smiling every time she checked on us. We split the Spinach Artichoke Dip ($10.95) which was a large helping and extremely tasty. We had thought about ordering other meals but this filled us up and we were limited on time. We both got side Caesar salads which were larger than expected and very delicious. The atmosphere is really great and probably the best selling point. Vintage Ford cars everywhere, tire sinks and gas pump handles in the bathrooms, vintage pumps as outdoor decor, rags as napkins, etc. The burgers are named after local celebrities and political figures. I really enjoyed my visit and will be back soon. I want to try a burger since everyone around me was ordering one and seemed to enjoy it! This is our second visit, and we love it still. We got to go this time and I will say the food is much better when it's fresh and not in a car for the ride home. I have to say, the Togo girls were hustling! They were in and out and running around to get everyone stood fast and fill requests. Props to them! I got the chicken Henry again! Yum! He got the model A burger and said it was tasty. Wedge fries are always a plus! I loved them and stayed crunchy even after car ride. Their strawberry salad dressing is to die for! I LOVE it! I think my overall experience at Ford's Garage is perfectly captured by the Yelp star rating description for 3 stars: "A-ok." It was good, but certain things could be improved on. In terms of the good, service was great. The waitress we had was so polite and accommodating to my party of 8 people. She was extremely patient with us as we tried to figure out our orders and was fantastic in asking us every once in a while to see if we needed anything. Props to her because on a busy Friday night, she provided excellent service. The food was also pretty good. The pretzel appetizer was fantastic. Those pretzel breadsticks might be some of the best pretzels I've had in a long time. They had the perfect crunch and saltiness on the outside but we're also extremely fluffy and light on the inside. Pair those with a honey mustard dip and a queso, you really do have a great appetizer. The burger itself was also good. The meat was flavorful, the condiments were good, all the components of the burger matched well with each other, and it was a decent size. You finish that burger and you felt satisfied. Now for the improvements. Getting seated. Knowing we had a party of 8, we had put in a reservation beforehand. Yes, I understand the whole "we need a majority of your party present" before a table can be seated. But when the majority of my party got here, we still waited for an additional 15 - 20 minutes. If a reservation is made, a table should be ready and waiting, if not ready in a few minutes. While the burger as a whole was good, I have to say, the bottom bun was so incredibly thin. It was so thin that once you took your first bite, the entire bottom bun started disintegrating. If you use a thin bottom for a more dry burger, fine. But for a burger that has a lot of sauce and other condiments on it, it just couldn't hold up to all the moisture and made for a messy eating experience. Overall, I would not mind coming back. Maybe we went on a slightly off day. But I like this place. I just also think it has the potential to get better. read more

We recently visited Fords with my husbands parents. The wait staff was wonderful and my in-laws enjoyed their fish n chips and wings.. my husbands and my meal left a bit to be desired. M Swiss cheese and hamburger patty on my mushroom Swiss burger was rubbery. My husband said his brisket burger was "passable", and the union rings he got were quite bland. The server gave no trouble when I asked that my plate be taken off the bill. She was very kind and apologetic. The restaurant was clean and we had good service. Went into this restaurant for the first time today with three friends. The atmosphere was excellent really had the ol time garage feel with a lot of cute accents. I ordered a hamburger and onion straws. Th menu stated the hamburger was 1/3 lb I would be willing to bet it was close to a 1/4 lb if even. Our onion straws were served very very cold. We had to send them back. It took 8 mins to get them back and when they did arrive they were delicious and hot. To our dismay tho they were returned a 1/4 size if our original serving. My 20 yr old son is about to return to univ and asked me to lunch, he said "grampy would love this place". I was surprised to see my dad favorite automobile g displayed! My Family and I had dinner at this restaurant today. The service was terrible. The waiter seem to be too busy and took forever to take our order. My sister in law order a draft beer and it had a fly on it. We send it back and it took 18 minutes to get another beer. The burgers were not tasty at all and the fries were cold.
