We came to Ford's Garage because it was my kiddo's birthday pick and he says they have the best mac and cheese in town. When we were seated our server was lovely. Super attentive, gave us the time and space to make entree decisions and was on top of refilling our beverages. I opted trying their new chicken melt, my kiddo got the kid's mac and cheese with a side of mac and cheese, and my husband got the chicken fingers. Everything came out hot and was delicious. I did ask our waitress if they would sing for my kiddo's birthday. She accommodated and the servers came out singing to my kiddo. You who would have rather not have them sing? My kid. LOL. The only thing I didn't care for was while I don't mind paying for a dessert, the default is an $8 two scoop ice cream dessert. First time visiting this establishment. We had a party of 9 and went around 4:00pm. Everything was fantastic! Onion Ring tower was so good. As well as the pretzels and beer cheese. I had the High Octane burger with Mac-n-cheese. It was phenomenal! Our server Davetta was the best. She took excellent care of us. One individual in our group got a gluten free item and the chef brought it out to personally and went over the protocols on how they prepare and serve dishes when there is a food allergy to address. If I could give more than five stars I would. The minute we walked in to Ford's Garage in St Augustine we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. Our wait person was Tabby and she was such a delight. She was uplifting, lively, friendly and extremely helpful regarding food selection. One of the things that I found ideal regarding the menu was that you can substitute chicken, turkey or veggie burger for a meat burger on any of the platter choices. My husband selected a veggie burger for the Patty Melt. I ordered the Green & Clean. The French Fries were made exactly how we ordered them...well done/crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were seasoned to perfection and the best I've had (and I'm a FF fanatic). Both platters were DELICIOUS and we'd order them again! I also ordered a side salad and the lettuce was fresh the grape tomatoes were "snappy", all the additions to the salad i.e. cheese, onion...were fresh and delicious. I was given the choice of dressing and that was served on the side in a small container so I was able to use as much or as little as needed. Tabby, our wait person, was very attentive and came over to our table frequently to make sure we didn't need anything else or wanted to order something to follow our meal. Tabby is a wonderful and gracious individual and when we return back to the restaurant we hope to have her as our wait person again. One more thing before I sign off, the restaurant was filling up with diners and we were never rushed to leave once we finished our meal. My wife and I stopped in on a Sunday around 1 PM. Must say the parking there sucks! No parking, we had to walk quite a ways after finding a spot. We were lucky we were able to set up the bar otherwise it would've been a 45 minute wait. We enjoyed The visit overall. We both had iced tea. We are up in St Augustine for a well deserved vacation and decided to try this Ford's Garage, because the one where we live is always super busy. I only give either 1s or 5s for reviews because if you are mediocre it's not worth my time. Initially, it was going to be a 1 star rating because we were seated in the outside dining area and nobody came to even take drink orders for over 15 minutes, and we almost left . But, my wife finally asked to have us moved to a booth inside and we were glad we did. Our server, Davetta, was awesome! She was friendly and knew everything about the menu and about the beers, down to where and how some were made, with the various flavors, etc. We went with her suggestions and I really liked the Garage Beer with lime. When we ordered our food, I asked which she preferred between the Black and Bleu Burger or the High Octane, because both sounded amazing. She said she likes both because they were very flavorful, but the Black and Bleu Burger with a side of their garlic aioli sounded really good to her, so I tried it and was not disappointed at all. The aioli was very tasty. My wife had burger with a really good Bourbon BBQ sauce. We were both pleasantly stuffed by the end of the meal. Loved the atmosphere and the service. The motorcycle dealership down the street keeps recommending this location so I had to get in here. My lunch sized burger was very tasty with freshly cut vegetables. The onion rings had just the correct amount of crispy for me; no onion lingering after the bite. One bite and you get it all. There was no need for dessert after drinking black cherry flavored tea. There were several flavored teas to choose from and I had to get the one that caught my attention and it was very good. I think I'll try the strawberry flavored tea as well as a burger on my next visit. My server was very knowledgeable of the menu which helped me make my lunch selections. And for the people liking art; this place serves as a small museum. You have to see it all to believe it. You have hose clamps for napkin holders, there are engine blocks inside and the restroom for the guys is something else. Very disappointed with our experience. My son bit into his burger and discovered a blue plastic bun tie inside the bun -- the type normally used to close bread bags. He had already bitten down on it before realizing what it was. This was extremely concerning because it could have caused choking or injury. Finding a piece of plastic like that in food raises serious questions about food safety and quality control. Situations like this should never happen. I hope management takes this seriously and reviews their food handling and preparation processes so this doesn't happen to another customer. read more
