UPDATE: I had a small issue with my SRS which I fixed earlier but needed to turn off the SRS light too. This is a three to a five-minute job and most dealerships do it for free. There is no BMW dealership near me so I called Autohause and they asked for $135 to do the job. I said that I feel it was too much and wanted him to charge for 15 minutes instead of a whole hour for such a small job. He refused and angrily hung up the phone. I felt this behavior was wrong and left a negative comment about Autohause intention to overcharge me. Just a few minutes later Rafael C. the owner of Autohause called me and used every colorful word in the dictionary to express his opinion. In turn, I added what he did in my comments and left it as that. Months passed and I had forgotten all about this encounter until yesterday when Yelp notified me about a response to my comment. I checked the response. It was from Rafael C. the owner of Autohause. I know people including myself make many mistakes and would have deleted my comments immediately if he had just asked for it. But, instead, I was shocked to see that Rafael have somehow tracked down my information and had posted my name and home address in response to my comments. I take this as a threat and will certainly contact the Folsom and EDH Police Departments to express my concerns and file a report. I also contacted Yelp and asked them to delete my information from their website. This is the first time I have been threatened. Returned my car to this shop after a recent visit to address two issues. One was supposed to be addressed last time but they forgot to get to it, and the other was new after picking it up last time, caused by the shop. So not real satisfied with the previous repair. This visit however is the WORST EXPERIENCE at a repair shop. Made an appt for Weds morning at 8. Dropped car off on time and didn't hear back that day at all. Called late in afternoon and was told they would need it overnight as they hadn't looked at it yet! OK...get it fixed and I'll pick it up tomorrow. No call again the next day...so I called mid afternoon and got the same answer. We haven't looked at it yet! But, I was now first in line so I agreed keep it one more night. Called 10:30 this morning...same answer! CAR HAS NOT BEEN LOOKED AT! Not sure why I made an appt for Weds morning when by Friday morning, no one has yet to touch my car. I never leave reviews but I had to leave this one. I recently received an oil change from a different company a day before. While driving on the highway with my kid in the car I noticed that my hood was shaking. I was scared that my hood would fly up while driving so I immediately got off and pulled into a gas station. After trying several times with the help of strangers we couldn't get it closed. I drove to Foreign autohaus and was greeted by a nice looking man, very nice looking might I say. I'm new to Foreign Autohaus and quite honestly had some reservations based on a few reviews so I wanted to share my experience. I brought my car in for an oil change and inspection this morning. I arrived about 15 minutes early expecting to wait but was I immediately greeted by a gentleman (John I think) who came outside to let me know he could assist me. The write up was somewhat uneventful but they did a thorough job explaining what would be done and to my surprise that essentially all communication would be electronic. He explained that I would get an email then a text when the mechanic had something to share. The text would be linked to a form with explanations, pictures etc to help me make a decision about the repair. I left the shop feeling good but had some trepidation based on previous posts. Sure enough I receive an email and as expected a text followed later with several recommendations for service. There was no high pressure sales pitch as others have alluded to, just a Yes / No check box next to the recommended repair. I made my selection, added a comment then hit submit. Not long after I received another text and my car was ready to pick up. Overall I was incredibly happy with the experience. They were friendly, knowledgeable, quick and a hell of a lot cheaper than the Audi dealer. Give them shot. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

My commute car (2007 Scion TC) is having an issue with shifting, my husband diagnosed the problem, but we don't have the time to fix it ourselves. We prefer to shop locally and support small businesses so we popped into this place. We also have a Mercedes and we hoped to find a mechanic to work on both (we usually go to the dealership for maintenance on this one). Unfortunately they DONOT work on TCs, but the owner Rafael was kind enough to refer us to a shop close by who can and did help us with our Scion. That was very kind of him and we appreciate it. They are not trust worthy! My car broke down and the tow truck brought my car to Foreign Autohaus. I wrote on the intake form that my car died and that it's having transmission problems. It's not shifting. They found water on the module and dried it and my car started. They did not check the transmission like my husband and I asked them to check but instead charged me $349 for an incomplete diagnosis. They said they misunderstood what we asked for. How could it be misunderstood? My husband went there and showed the problem to them and I wrote it on the intake form???? They wanted to charge me another $349 for another diagnosis! No way!!!! They charged me $349 to dry up the wet module and wanted me charge me another $349 for another diagnosis for the transmission when it should have been at the same time as the first one. They didn't show any concern when I was talking to them, they just want to get away with whatever they can. This morning I learned I can't get just a regular Smog check for my 2013 Porsche Boxster S. Regular Smog stores don't have the tools, or are unwilling, to access the mid-engine. I phoned Rafael at Folsom Autohaus and learned he routinely handles these matters by preparing the vehicle for Smog inspection at his store, then taking the vehicle across the street to Smog N' Go in Folsom for the Smog check, then bringing the vehicle back to his shop and restoring the vehicle to normal. I recieved excellent, friendly, and immediate service. There is a labor charge to prepare the vehicle for inspection, but that is fair enough. Recommended. read more

I never thought I'd say this in my life: you're better off going to the dealership. The most manipulative, forceful, and deceptive mechanic in this area. My car had an oil leak so I brought my car in here for a quick repair. I figured I'd save some money by going to this local mechanic but boy was I wrong... although I told them I only want that one specific repair, they went on and scanned my whole vehicle and came up with around 6 different "problems" that all accumulated to around $2000 worth of repair. I have been servicing my vehicle regularly and that price point and the problems that my car apparently have really shocked me. I seriously couldn't believe it. After going there I went to the Mercedes dealership in Sacramento to make sure there isnt actually anything wrong with my car and they said everything looks normal. THE DEALERSHIP (which is infamous for ripping you off) WAS MORE TRUSTWORTHY AND FAIR PRICED THAN THEM!!! The same repair on my oil leak cost me significantly less than what foreignautohaus charged. The worst part about all of this is that Rafael gets mad at me for having enough logic and experience to know that I'm getting ripped off. That man has major anger issues and literally gets pissed off when you don't agree with him. I seriously don't know how this business is running. I waited three months to post this hoping I would get over the upset. I own a 2016 Volvo that suddenly wouldn't run. Called them and verified they specialized in Volvos and had the diagnostic computer for it. They CHARGE to diagnose (separate from the bill). They told me all FOUR ignition coils needed replacing. $1400 later they say, so sorry that wasn't it and we need permission to do another diagnose charge. Towed it to my regular mechanic who said the chance of all four going at one time was impossible. Plus they put in non-oem parts when they told me they would only use OEM. I am back with SVS Volvo who I have trusted for three Volvos. Learned the hard way. Pay the extra charge and tow it farther to get the best service. read more

AVOID Took my car for a check engine light. Turned out that a piece of the Serpentine belt sheered off and cut wires to the MAP sensor. They said the belt was installed incorrectly by previous owner. Replaced the belt and repaired the wiring. I trusted their judgement. Two weeks later belt was completely gone, tensioner had been melted. Apparently the crankshaft pulley had damage and had been missed from the first repair. This cause the belt to break and the tensioner to melt. They worked the price down a little but it still wasn't that great. They were pretty firm on the offer they gave me to fix the issue so I just paid it and got out of there. The lady who works the front desk was extremely rude on the phone when I expressed my concerns. Won't be returning. Seems like they are mainly in it for profit, not having happy customers. Just wish they could have fixed this correctly the first time. Sad! read more

Just had my 2010 BMW 328i serviced at Foreign Autohaus for the first time and was very impressed with the overall process they use to schedule and conduct their work. I stopped by their shop to schedule my servicing and immediately received an e-mail documenting the appointment. I also received reminders before the appointment. After I dropped off my car they sent me a detailed report (with photos) on everything they were seeing. Johnny then called to review the work bill. I was then given the opportunity to approve/decline each aspect of the work bill (really liked this option). Once the work was completed, I got the call that my car was ready. I took my mini cooper here and they said I needed a new spark plug $200+ just to replace part. Got car back the plug did not fix the issue they even promised they would make me a new key and include it in the price then said they were too busy when I asked about when I picked up the car WTF. Took car back again they charged me again and said it would cost more than the care is worth to fix and again promised to make a key but got too busy. I did not drive my care for over 6 months as I belived them, then I finally took it somewhere else where they replaced coil and all plugs and wires and the car runs great. The $500 I paid for nothing from these guys is frustrating especially the second visit where I am guessing they did nothing and charged me to troubleshoot the issue. I came to Foreign Autohaus a month ago with a minor light bulb malfunction on my BMW, Jason came out and helped resolve the issue in few minutes at no cost, which saved me ~$140 (the fee they'd charge) to diagnose such electrical malfunction. Few weeks ago I came in regarding a supposed trunk malfunction (only opened manually with a key), which they offered to diagnose as well; when their tech came to look at my car, instead of troubleshooting the problem I came to resolve, he offered to replace other parts. I wish they knew that in these cars there's a valet button in the glove compartment which turns the trunk on & off; apparently I accidentally turned it off and after searching online, found the solution and fixed the problem myself. I expected better expertise from BMW specialists and don't appreciate being sold services I don't need. read more

I drive a Mercedes C-300 and my check engine light went on and I panicked. I am from Sonoma county and don't have a mechanic in this area. I called Foreign Autohaus and the owner answered. I explained to him what was happening. He told me to bring my car in immediately. I did and with an hour he had an answer for me. The reason it took so long is because they were packed. I was so relieved that I the problem had been fixed. A few months later my check engine light kept going on then off...I called and got the opener again...AGAIN he squeezed my car in. They couldn't find anything. They called me, text me and emailed me ALL the results of what they didn't find...which was a relief. I absolutely DO NOT trust mechanics especially since I am a woman and I should have no idea what I am talking about (just old fashioned I guess). But the owner explained to me what could be happening and ALL THE OTHER questions that I asked about my car. I would recommend these guys. Very expensive. They worked on my Audi and after paying for a new battery to fix a problem it still didn't work. They then took the 10 minutes they should have taken to figure out the real problem. Was told how sorry they were and they would cover the labor if I covered the part. Ended up they tried to inflate the part cost to cover the labor. Really shoddy business, steer clear. read more

I took my 2005 BMW 325CI in to have some parts replaced on a Friday with no appointment, they were able to get me in their schedule, took me to my job, and even picked me up once my vehicle was finished. I was only charged for 1/2 an hour of labor instead of one hour, they smoked my engine to find the leaks, no charge, usually that is a charged procedure I think. I had a budget to work within, and Rafael, and Tim, made sure I was within my budget. Everything I wanted completed on my vehicle was done correctly. My car is running so much better now. I saw the bad reviews below, I have had bad experiences at Walmart, that doesnt mean I will never shop at Walmart again. Do your research on your vehicle so you at least have an idea of whats going on, and what you should anticipate being charged for. My experience IS worthy of 5 STARS!!
