Forest City Fish Camp is a family staple for us--we eat here at least every other week, and it never disappoints! The food is consistently delicious, but the salt and pepper flounder and popcorn shrimp are our absolute favorites. One of the things I appreciate most about this restaurant is that faith is clearly at the heart of the business. As a Christian, that makes the atmosphere feel especially warm, familiar, and welcoming to me. The service is also wonderful! Everyone is so sweet and attentive. They're always keeping an eye on your table, and it seems like the second your drink gets halfway empty, someone is already on their way with a refill. I highly recommend the Forest City Fish Camp. They have friendly and fast service, a family friendly ambiance and great seafood. I had a senior fried popcorn shrimp, a baked potato, slaw and added a piece of fried Alaskan white fish. I opted not to have the included hush puppies since there was already too much food. Normally I need tartar sauce with seafood, but this was just as good if not better without it. Oh and for a senior portion there was still a lot of food. Terrible Went here for dinner it was very bad. The people are more concerned about pushing you out the door than the customer service and good food. They brought my salad and within 30 seconds they bought the fo are they so stupid they don't understand seafood needs to be served fresh and hot. You can't leave seafood sitting on a table for 15 minutes or so while the customer finishes the salad. The manager said that is the way they do it because they use hand written tickets. How in the hell did people serve fresh hot food before the technology of today. I can remember not so long ago every restaurant used hand written tickets but they didn't serve the salad with the meal. I don't recommend this so-called restaurant. And I sure as hell will not go back. The lease the manager could have offered to replace the ice cold food that they left sitting on the table. Or perhaps refunded my money. Or at the very least said sorry. But none of the above. Just a stupid excuse of hand written tickets. read more

Our family and friends have always enjoyed our visits and always enjoy delicious meals with great portions and very friendly staff. We've ordered a variety of choices from their extensive menu and found them each to be equally delicious. Some we love are the fried flounder, clam strips and scallops; the grilled Mahi Mahi: the pulled pork barbecue plate; and the Ribeye steak! You just can't go wrong. The soups are delicious on a cold evening as well. I love that the waitress greets you warmly and with a bowl of warm hush puppies. And I like that your condiments are available at all times but off the table and neatly stored out of the way when not needed. It's just a great little hometown Fish Camp with lots of other great food options. (Pay with cash and save a little money.) Well if you want alot of food for your money...this is the go to place they pile it high...of course seafood. The only thing is I'm-not a fried food fan...but have got to admit the batter they use is very light...fish is always fresh...it's self service...pay...sit...no waitresses or waiters...I'm not a fan of that either...if I'm going out to eat I want to be waited on. Went to a classic car show in Forest City and on the way home found this place. Reminded me of Allen's Clam Bar in New Gretna NJ. We had the fried platters. Portions are Large enough that we had the same meal the next day. Food was a 4.5/5. By far, their Ice Tea was the best we ever tasted. The secret is a pinch of baking soda in a gallon of ice tea. Had a grilled and a broiled dinner at fish camp tonight. Usually we go and have a nice dinner but tonight everything but the baked potatoes was cold. Hush puppies were room temperature, scallops were barely lukewarm as were the shrimp for both of us. I also had grilled chicken and it was barely warm. The coleslaw was also room temperature and my wife is feeling kind of sick right now. We would have told the waitress but she never came back to ask us how everything was or to refill our drinks. Usually having dinner here is a good experience but not this time. It was pretty bad. read more

Surprisingly not super greasy the way most fish camps tend to be. They also have a nice menu selection and extremely reasonable prices. It's by no means gourmet or hipster, but it is very decent, honest food. I'm a snob, but I can't really find much to say about this place that isn't pretty good. read more

We were in town from MS visiting our daughter and found this restaurant on Yelp. We are so glad we did. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced for the amount of food. AMBIANCE & DECOR: If you're not opting for carry-out there's ample table and booth seating inside. Everything from the hanging fishnets, cheesy lifebuoy, and water murals that span the wall, is what you would expect (and want) of a homey fish fry joint like this. And if all that's not entertaining enough, they've got the TV on too. SERVICE: They weren't rude about going back to get us something throughout our dining experience. I wanted to finish my sweet tea before I left and someone not my waiter noticed and offered me a take out cup. Everyone was wonderful at making sure we were taken care of. FOOD: The minute you are seated you're greeted with a tray of hush puppies! I ordered the special that night (fried flounder and shrimp platter) for about $9-10 and hot damn it was a lot of food! Not only was there a lot of food, it was hot, fresh, and delicious! I tasted the rainbow trout too and it was grilled perfectly and mighty tasty. I wish I had the appetite to finish everything we ordered because it tasted so good, but I was also happy to have seconds later. The Forest City Fish Camp is an establishment in the Forest City area. It has been there, so much as I know, my ENTIRE life! Over 50 years! Been there many, many, many times! This time I went with my Pops...and we both got hamburger steaks...yeah, I know...hamburger steak at a fish place? It was good...not as good as I have had there in the past, but I would get it again...had cole slaw and french fries with it...making a good meal! I have had so many things here...fried shrimp, steak, hamburger steak, perch, flounder, salt and pepper catfish, deviled crab, fried oysters...and I am probably forgetting some things! All of it very good in the "fried" seafood way. Oh...chicken strips... Hush puppies are very good...found a new way to eat them this trip...with A1 Steak Sauce...don't laugh...it is pretty good that way! This was our first visit, but it won't be our last. I ordered the three item platter with clam strips, popcorn shrimp, and a deviled crab. The shrimp and clam strips were great, but I'll skip the deviled crab next time as it was mostly breading. My wife ordered the popcorn shrimp and a sweet potato. I have eat here regularly for years it is my favorite place in forest city to eat the food is always top notch a+++ quality very clean and very fast and friendly wait staff. They also do catering we have a event every year and our usual vendor called us at 6 PM the night before our event and canceled so in a desperate search for another very last minute vendor we called forest city fish camp at around 8 PM the night before our event . They showed up the next morning at our event happy and smiling with the best food we have ever had there . They are awesome !!!!!!!! Such good food and great people read more

Service was good. Place was off the beating path. Fish was dry. Sides were okay. Probably will not return. You pay a lot for what you get.

As far as local fish camps go, this one is better than most. It's a small place, a little out in the sticks, but the decor was tasteful and the wait staff was very nice and attentive. The prices were very reasonable too. The sweet tea and hushpuppies were probably the standouts, as both were really, really good. I had one of the combination platters with catfish, shrimp, scallops, oysters and deviled crab...everything except the scallops was good. Not overly greasy like so many local fish places, and it tasted like their frying oil was fresh, which is another rarity. Will definitely be going back again. read more
