8/1/26 Ate here Friday night 7/31 and it was so good we came back after a trip to Chimney Rock NC. Alex is the manager who we appreciated getting us squeezed in for a table Friday night despite the fact that they were slammed with a corporate gathering at the resort that night. Erin was our server both nights and she was so go that first night we requested her again Saturday night. Outstanding service both times. Friday night my beautiful wife got the sea bass which was perfectly cooked and delicious. I got the small cheese pizza (smoked chicken, mushrooms and onions) which was HUGE! Best pizza I have had in a LONG time. Saturday night, my beautiful wife got the fish and chips with a side of coleslaw. Delicious. I got the shredded beef tacos with a side of coleslaw, also very delicious. Great view of lake lure, not too loud and great atmosphere. Manager and waitress, top notch. Highly recommend. read more

July 4th, 2026 back to Bald this time with Ben. Looking forward to 2 days of golf. We got into Lake Lure at about 6p. We're staying at the Rumbling Bald Resort. The check-in is in the same building as Legends On The Lake. We decided to stay for dinner so it only took 15 minute wait to get a patio table overlooking Lake Lure. Ben had the Smash Burger with a salad & I had the Chilean Sea Bass. It was outstanding! Pan seared on the medium well side on a bed of pasta it was truly exceptional! BEWARE!! This restaurant charged my credit card and claimed it was declined. My son ended up paying with his card, and it turned out I was charged. I called the restaurant to sort this out and they told me I would get a call back from their accounting department. That was over a week ago, I never got a call back and had to file a dispute with my credit card company. read more

I've been here a few times, and my biggest issue is how salty the pizza is. It has been overly salty every time I've ordered it. I brought it to the restaurant's attention, but unfortunately nothing was done about it. On a positive note, the sea bass was really good and probably my favorite thing I've tried here so far. The servers have always been nice and friendly, which I appreciate. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, as the food usually takes around 20-30 minutes to come out. Overall, the service is good and there are some good menu items, but I wish they would address the issue with the pizza. read more

We went a couple nights ago while vacationing at the resort. It got off to a rocky start, waiting quite a while for a server to come to even get a drink order. We flagged down a manager, Wesley, who immediately got a server to help us. Things were good from there. And one thing I noticed was Wesley buzzing all around the restaurant, clearly working and helping the staff wherever she could. The server who she had help us did a good job and was friendly. Wesley came back by a couple times to make sure we were being taken care of. We were impressed how they turned things around and made sure we had a positive experience. We ended up coming back again this evening and had a great experience. Wesley was there and she took us to our table. Our server Tierney (sp?) was fantastic from the start. The food was good and the prices are comparable to other places in the area. read more

One of our favs at Lake Lure! The chef here is outstanding. That sea bass was one of the best we've ever tasted. The Legends pizza was delish! We tried the highland AVL from Asheville on tap and it went great with the pizza and views. A hidden gem for sure! read more

Food was bad but the experience was absolutely terrible. First, I was put on hold for 10 minutes and had to call back to put in a takeout order. Then when I arrived, it took 30 minutes for the food to come out and there was not a single person who took initiative to help. Eventually, after I asked 4 different people including an unhelpful bartender, one of them went to the back and finally brought it out. It was not busy, there was no excuse. Views are great but, beyond that, this place was below average. We walked in to find crumbs underneath our table that hadn't been swept and a huge bumble bee flying about. When the appetizer arrived, the chips were stale. That should have been a warning. My smash burger was under seasoned and cold, while the fries and onion rings were entirely too salty and inedible. The meatloaf was dry and my burger came with lettuce despite asking for no lettuce. My son wouldn't eat his chicken tenders either. The wait to get our check was very long. For a restaurant on a resort, I expected better. Wish I had read the reviews prior. Overpriced for subpar food. Nothing fresh and everything was either over or undercooked. I expected more from a resort restaurant. Their saving grace is the view. read more

I love Legends ........for the football and bartender/server Danielle. The chilli was very good but came out Luke warm. The grilled chicken wrap was decent, but not memorable. I don't care for their vinaigrette coleslaw. The French fries are greasy and ALWAYS come out room temperature or cold. They have to get rid of that over done Smash Burger and put a decent "regular" burger on the menu. read more

We leave tomorrow and do plan on coming back; we enjoyed our stay here! The Bucatini Carbonara was absolutely delicious. The Beef Nachos were delicious, though a bit salty and I am a big salt lover. Danielle and Colleen are excellent bartenders and Adion is great support. There was another wedding happening tonight, but we did still meet locals and they were all just as friendly and lovely as the others we have met. Small world, we met folks from most of the places we have lived around the USA. Notable: They have a Touchtunes music Jukebox! Great restaurant on the Rumbling Bald Resort at Lake Lure community. Building is at the edge of the lake which have great views to the lake. We were here at the their Halloween and trivia night. Many people dress up for the best costume. We also have fun on the trivia. The restaurant was pack during that night. We have the chicken masala and chicken with oily garlic sauce. Both dish has good sauce. The pasta was nicely done. The chicken breast was grilled. It still maintaining the juicy meat after serving on the table. Good dishes to have. We also got the local brew beer. It was good. Our service is on time even we have full restaurant. I have them an B on serving. The manger did check on our table. We arrived for breakfast and got to sit on the outside deck over looking the beautiful Lake Lure. Our guest had the Sausage and Gravy Biscuits he'd been obsessing over ever since he saw it on the menu to previous day. He loved it. My spouse had the pancakes and holy cow! Three pancakes 12" in diameter. HUGE portion and they were thick but light with a fresh flavor and light crust. The epitome of well prepared pancakes. I selected the classic: 2 eggs, toast, bacon and breakfast potatoes. Nowhere on the menu was there any mention of GRITS. My menu choice was excellent but it would have been PERFECT with a side of grits. I mean, this IS the south! Our waiter was attentive and enjoyable. There's plenty of parking right outside the building. The lobby is open and tasteful. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and made to feel very welcome. read more

Wow! Legends just switched to a new "winter" menu and the quality of the new entrees were excellent. Definitely suggest the Pan Seared Tuscan Chicken and Dry Aged Ribeye. High marks for the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad and our group was also pleased that the Strombolis are back. Will be back soon to try the Pan-Seared Sea Bass and the Spinach and Walnut Ravioli. Nice selection of draft beers as well. read more

We drove an hour and a half to get there so and were informed they had "unexpectedly" booked a wedding in the restaurant on the lake. We were told they were serving in the restaurant across the road. The road was under construction and we had to avoid cones laying on the ground. The restaurant was filled with golfers in from golf. As soon as we walked in a young woman said"we are not open til 4." We arrived around 2 in the afternoon...maybe that had an affect on the quality of our meal. It was hard to find anything vegetarian on the menu. We just went with salads and cooked vegetable of the day (zucchini, onion, mushroom, I think). We started with hummus that tasted like nothing. Absolutely zero seasoning and poorly presented. Hummus is not a difficult thing to make! Underwhelming. Disappointing. I was spending the afternoon considering whether to buy a house...Rumbling Bald dining amenities certainly didn't shine today. read more

We picked up to-go, which you do at the bar area, and the view! The view of Lake Lure and the mountains was beautiful! The food was good. We ordered the poutine fries. The first bite was delicious! But then the second, third, forth got super salty. My husband got the 10oz burger, biggest patty we've ever seen on a burger and cooked to a perfect med rare, although it needed a tad bit more something, like spice, to push that flavor over the edge. I got the chicken parm; the chicken was also cooked to perfection but the marinara sauce needed a sprinkle of salt and pepper and herbs. Overall, the food was worth getting but just needed a tad more flavor. I can see the view adding a lot to the atmosphere while you dine there, especially if you're lucky to get a spot on the outside screened in deck facing the lake. read more

Warning to the vegans who are seeing the "vegan options" button on this Yelp page: Whatever they have on the menu that makes Yelp say "vegan options" was not shared with me. The host/person taking orders at the front only offered a salad with nothing on it when I asked what was vegan on the menu. This prompt needs to be removed from the Yelp page or y'all need to intentionally add something vegan... not pick all the toppings off your lettuce. I never would have made this trip to legends if the Yelp page was true about its non-existent vegan menu. read more

This was our first afternoon at Lake Lure. After walking around the lake, we enjoyed lunch here. The waitress was very nice and very attentive. We ate on the outside deck over looking the lake. We split a hot Turkey sandwich and onion rings - delicious and more than enough for two! Paired with an Asheville IPA and Bliss on the Beach cocktail. Dinner on a Friday night. We knew this place would be packed, expect to wait 25/30 minutes. I didn't understand why there were about 5 tables with no one sitting there, perhaps only a few servers so they could only seat so many people. There are not a lot of restaurants near this resort, so the choices are slim. The waitress was fantastic, attentive, did her job flawlessly. We ordered pizza, wings, and the kids had grilled cheese sandwiches with fries. I ordered the 10" cauliflower pizza with pepperoni, and it was really good. The regular hot/spicy buffalo wings were better than the dry rubbed. The dry rubbed tasted like a bunch of old bay and chili powder. For pizza and wings type of place, this place was great! Fun spot at the resort right along the beach and water. Really pretty spot. Food was better than expected. Hubby really enjoyed his wings and he's a picky wing eater. Perfectly crisp. Cold beers with my fried chicken sandwich made it the perfect lunch. Servers were friendly albeit a bit slow but to be expected as the outdoor patio was packed! Went there for lunch on a Wednesday in mid October. You have to stop at the gate to get a pass. We had the everything pizza and it was excellent. Lots of toppings and crunchy crust just like we like it. Sat by the window with a beautiful view of Lake Lure. Highly recommend. read more
