If you don't have the ingredients to make a dish properly just say that!! No pita bread! Plain toasted bread instead of seasoned croutons! Yellow lettuce!! Parmesan cheese the goes on pizza not salad! I could have ordered something else!! Couldn't take it back because my break is only 30 mins!!

THE place in JP for pizza and--you'd be surprised--breakfast. $8 for a full plate of eggs, meat, potatoes, buttered toast, and coffee? Sold.

Very well balanced - I especially liked the stracciatella. Taleggio Capeletti (7/10): A bit too rich and too salty for my tastes. I think this dish just needed something to cut through the richness. Still really good nonetheless. Lumache (8/10): The chew on the pasta is impeccable!! The chew on those mushrooms is also insane. Texture-wise, this dish was a home run. For some reason, I kept getting hints of something resembling boar taint in the sauce flavor itself. Not sure why... I don't think there was meat? I feel like I would've given this dish a 10/10 had it not been for the hint of that flavor. Service was very friendly and fast. The restaurant is small, but the seating didn't feel too tight. Even though I gave it a 5/5, I actually don't know if I would come again. The pasta was very steeply priced for not that much food. Although the capeletti was surprisingly filling, I'd rather feel full on carbs than full on pure butter and cheese.

I'm actually getting salivating while posting this review and looking back at my food pictures. I get the Eggplant & Ricotta Pizza as my appetizer and the Rigatoni Amatriciana as my entree each time I go - because they're consistently amazing. The service is always warm and friendly, and I also love the music playlist they play. Believe the hype & come to Tonino!!

My husband absolutely loved the mussels, and I had the salad followed by the New York strip with mashed potatoes, which was delicious. Everything was beautifully prepared, and our drinks were great as well. What really stood out was our server. They were friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful with my food-allergy questions, taking the time to make sure I felt comfortable with what I was ordering. That kind of care makes such a difference when dining out with dietary restrictions. Great food, a lovely patio, excellent service, and such a cozy atmosphere. Definitely a little hidden gem and a place we'd happily visit again!

Note: they don't have air conditioning inside either--but we were seated in a booth under a ceiling fan. It was tolerable. They did seem to gate-keep ice cubes--we had to keep asking for them. The calamari was pretty standard except for the cornmeal batter, which I enjoyed. The sausage, peppers & onions were delicious but I needed some yellow mustard to get the Fenway feel. My eggplant parm was saucy and delicious. The pasta is homemade. My date had the mussels over polenta--this is more saucey and less brothy. The heat really impacted my date night vibe and I'll have to go back in cooler weather. I thought the dessert choices were limited (only 3-tiramisu, lemon cake, and cannoli). Not a gelato or sorbetto in sight. Julie was an excellent server who checked back often and offered suggestions when we asked.

oh. em. gee. best pasta i've ever had in my life…read more i was looking online for an italian restaurant and this came up multiple times. first off, the interior is gorgeous, plush green seats and antique style. we ordered their special items of the night: lobster risotto and the vodka veal. genuinely the best risotto i've ever had. the people online were not lying when they said their vodka rigatoni was the best. it was indeed very very delicious. even though all of us were full from the pasta, we still had to get tiramisu. it was a perfect way to end the meal. our server was great and attentive, thank you for a wonderful meal.

My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.
